Elizabeth Hostel

Noise during the night at times made it hard to sleep. No lift for person with bad limbs.

They ask for the passport as a deposit but when leave given a different passport. The hostel is located up a flight of stairs which is not convenient for with heavy luggage.

Location is great, but the receptionist wouldn't offer you anything unless you ask: towel, cutlery, plate & cup. My room, with its window facing the fire exit area was noisy on some early mornings because of rubbish trucks picking up rubbish containers, cleaners dumping rubbish bags running up and down the fire exit stairs. I also was awakened by sound of vacuuming and shouting past midnight. Though the kitchen was clean, it had only one kitchen knife and one peeler, sometimes one plate or one bowl, no cups. I believe was bitten by bed bugs, as I have no alternative explanation for the itchy bites I got on the 1st night and was progressively getting more every night.

No air conditioning, no wifi, unsafe environment. Linen and towels are very old and smelly. The building is old and broken. The staffs are all very unprofessional and poor English. Only good thing about the place is walking distance to tram and queen Victoria market.

For God’s sakes read online reviews before booking, this was a mistake I made. IT IS NOT WORTH IT even if you’re pinching pennies, immediately left after one night and moved to a different hostel, and BE WARNED, NO AIRCONDTIONING or even a fan so it was hotter than hell during my stay. The window was open so you could hear all of the traffic and shouting outside.

dont stay there the fire alams were taped up so not working the sheets unwashed looks nothing like photo no paintings just graffiti smell was not good the noise of squeaky doors and footsteps lasted 3 hours 2 were at a pub for dinner and checked out had to go somewhere eles

Me and my friend arrived an hour early before check in and they let us put our bags in this little room in the lobby. My friend felt something was off and when we left to have lunch I read the reviews and regretted doing so as it made me extremely anxious - one review said someone was watching them sleep and all their bags had been rummaged through. After lunch I ran straight back to the hostel which was only 10min before check in now and noticed my bag had been moved and my neck pillow lying on the floor when it had been on the handle of my suitcase. I checked my bags and nothing had been touched thankfully so I thought someone probably moved it to get to a bag behind it. We were able to check in 10min early. Everyone should note THERE IS ONLY STAIRS. 3 floors no elevator. You will have to drag your heavy bags up the stairs, I was on the third floor. Room was small with a fridge, two chairs and a table, a mirror, a fan and a bunk bed. It looks very old but seemed clean enough. There was a leak in the roof that was dripping into one of the chairs and made the room smell musty. Overall, my stay wasn’t bad. Though we had some dodgy neighbours, nobody entered our room, we made sure the door was locked when we left or went to sleep. The toilets are due for a renovation but they are kept clean enough. So don’t let the bad reviews freak you out - as long as you are making sure the door is locked and taking safety measures you’ll be fine

The room was disgusting. Room clearly hasn’t been cleaned including the bedsheets. The staff were miserable. The lock on our room door wasn’t secure (someone had clearly tried to ethier break into the room previously or struggled to get into the room). Wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone even though it is cheap

If you are after the cheapest room in Melbourne City, then this is the hostel for you. The single room was basic, but fine for the price. Very convenient with a tram outside on Elizabeth St. The kitchen, toilets and bathrooms were filthy, so wear shoes inside these areas.

Run down hovel. Room condition was beyond bad. Patched walls, power points loose in walls, condition generally terrible. Door on room barely closed it had been broken and repaired so many times. Toilet facilities horrible. Broken seat, water flowing from toilet onto bathroom floor and excrement caked everywhere. A toilet on an Indian train would be better. Noisy to the point of not being able to sleep. Drunken yahoos outside on the street carrying on all night and sketchy drug/drunk or otherwise unreasonably noisy fellow patrons. The only positive thing to say it was a roof over my head. But otherwise no safer, quieter or pleasant than being on the streets

Pretty dirty, old carpet and bad maintenance... a lot of homeless around and inside that hotel with mental condition. I had room by myself, it was a relief only for that😇

This place is riddled with bed bugs, it smells horrible and when we turned out the lights, glow in the dark tags were on the walls. Don't go here!!

Terrible. They do not clean the place. The room is can not be opened by the key and the place smells like a public toilet. The staff are always drunk and are theives. They only speak chinese.

While I knew this was a very cheap option, my stay would have been a lot better if the place wasn’t filled with cigarette smoke - the smell of cigarettes and weed was so strong in the room it woke me up, I’m an ex smoker myself so don’t have an issue with smoke, but it was so strong and there weren’t any windows to open to air it out - plus there was a guy in one of the rooms just shouting all night. Appreciate it’s a cheap option, which the room reflects that but the smoke was too much

This place is in a perfect location, BUT it is the smelliest, unclean place i have ever stayed! They only positive things i can say are: comfortable bed, free cold water bubble and location.

Half way house.. Regular hard drugs being used.. Bathroom/shower we’re disgusting.. Staff were rude.. Bed bugs.. Homeless people squatting.. Do not stay here

I had a horrible stay. BED BUGS, knife threats, and in rude staff. The check in was rude and I was treated like I was an inconvenience. Later that night my roommate came in and said that some just threatened the front desk with a knife and two cop squadrons were sent in! I was terrified to leave my room. My roommate was smacking in the room and I later found out the cops didn’t arrest the guys who were threatening people with knife’s they just let them stay. Oh and Best of all, I got eaten by BED BUGS.

While I knew this was a very cheap option, my stay would have been a lot better if the place wasn’t filled with cigarette smoke - the smell of cigarettes and weed was so strong in the room it woke me up, I’m an ex smoker myself so don’t have an issue with smoke, but it was so strong and there weren’t any windows to open to air it out - plus there was a guy in one of the rooms just shouting all night. Appreciate it’s a cheap option, which the room reflects that but the smoke was too much

Toilets unclean, nil appropriate disposal options for sanitary products, dodgy doors to rooms and loud guests at all hours. Ok for one night, but wouldn’t recommend for anything longer! Reception staff were all pleasant!

Hostel location is easy to access in city center. Staff are friendly.

我選的是自己單獨一間，離街道算有段距離，所以算是安靜，只是因為是木板隔間，所以隔壁有任何聲響還是會聽得到，浴室相當乾淨，如果是自己旅行非常推薦入住，這裡離維多利亞市場很近，門口就是伊莉莎白街，樓下有亞超也有麵包店，出口不遠處就有叮叮車可以到費蓮達車站，看要去哪都很方便，只是你如果行李很重，櫃檯的女服務員是無法幫你扛行李的，要等到有男櫃檯服務人員才能請他們幫忙喔！總共有三層樓，我就住在最頂樓，所以還好最後是男服務人員幫我扛行李下來，我才能順利的checkout，櫃檯的人都會講中文。

Would not let me and had to sleep on the street because they would not accept an online drivers license. We quite rude about it. Feels like they were going to book out the room again

Showers were amazing. Toilet not so. And Residents that Rent out the Dorms on a weekly Basis are Extremly messy and Noisy. They smoke at the Front Door, and it drifts up Hostel Building and comes through the Windows.

This was a very cheap hostel in a great location. You definitely get what you pay for but I’d definitely come here again if I was on a budget.

Good location for I wanted. Nothing fancy basic. Have stayed there in the past. Would stay there again.
