This hotel is an absolute hidden gem in historic Lisbon. Our room was a full apartment with modern kitchen and bath, beautiful views, quiet bedroom and just the right blend of modernity and authenticity. After staying in two palaces, a new seaside hotel in Nazare and a modern continental hotel in Porto, it was our favorite of the entire trip. Really enjoyed the spa (spacious, clean and gorgeous), don’t miss it. Definitely has a riad-style vibe. I’d stay again in a heartbeat.

Hospitality & service were exceptional! Quiet, serene location only blocks from the train station & many shops, restaurants, etc. Spa with jaccuzi & sauna/steam room was a welcome way to relax after a long day of travel. Grear breakfast! Couldn't have been a nicer introduction to Portugal for us!

Excellent location - central but felt nice and quiet tucked away. Spa was brilliant - we got to use the jacuzzi, sauna and steam room all to ourselves. Lovely big bedroom and good continental breakfast. Would recommend!

Casa Balthazar was an absolutely stunning property. We upgraded to the jacuzzi suite, and it was worth every penny- the view is spectacular. The room is comfortable, well maintained and a perfect size. Breakfast in the morning with fresh fruit, pastries, juice and coffee made just how you like it. Small hotel so very quiet, well maintained with a ton of unique spaces- spa/gym, pool area, sitting areas, not to mention the wonderful staff. It is uphill from Rossio square, but only takes 2 minutes to walk- super convenient location with easy access to everything you want to see in Lisbon. Loved it and will look forward to coming back.

This property was delightful. We stayed in the cottage, that was big, clean, and had a private patio with a hot tub. The daily breakfasts (included) were fantastic with fresh pastries, fruit, cheese, meats, and honey. Every detail was high end throughout the property, including the pool and spa areas. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful.

We had the Panoramic Terrace room and really enjoyed our stay. Our room was very spacious and comfortable and we had a great view from the terrace, so nice to be able to sit out, enjoy a glass of wine and look out at the city. The staff was very helpful, lovely breakfast and a good location for walking to local restaurants. Didn't have a chance to use it but they have a nice pool and really appreciate all the water bottles!

Beautiful view from the Panoramic Balcony room! The location was great with easy Uber pickup. The breakfast was wonderful. The staff was friendly and responsive. Having access to the private spa area with sauna, steam room, and spa whirlpool was a huge bonus, too. I highly recommend these accommodations!

From the moment we arrived we were made to feel like honored guests. Our bags were taken upstairs for us while we received a tour of the property. We couldn’t resist the offer of cake and coffee before we went to our room. We booked the Panoramic Room with a sweeping view of Lisbon. It was spacious, very clean and quiet and had a well stocked kitchenette. The staff is very accommodating and attentive. Diego was always attentive to guests needs. Would definitely return and highly recommend this hotel.

First time visitors to Lisbon, we wanted a comfortable hotel within convenient walking distance of the city centre and attractions and we were not disappointed. We stayed in Jacuzzi Room 2 which had, as the name suggests, a jacuzzi on the balcony and wonderful views of the city and castle. The room was clean and equipped with a small kitchenette, was spotlessly clean and with very effective double glazing given the bar on the terrace below. We slept very well given the extremely comfortable bed. Breakfast is a simple buffet with cooked eggs available on request but everything is fresh and replenished quickly - the staff were a delight and nothing was too much trouble. Another treat is the all day availability of tea, coffee and delicious cake in the lounge area. We appreciated the restaurant recommendations and assistance in locating our taxi driver when it was time to (reluctantly) head home. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would wholeheartedly recommend staying here.

Huge Cockroach in the bathroom when we came back to the room. I had to kill it by smashing it with a book. I let them know the morning of checkout and didn’t look like they really cared too much but I would have not charged the customer $300 a night with a roach in the room.

We had an amazing visit at this stellar hotel, so much so that we extended our stay by three days. The staff are incredible, very attentive, prompt and kind. We stayed in four different rooms within our week stay, incredibly clean, well maintained and amazing views/amenities. Speaking of the amenities, the pool, hot tub, steam room and sauna are a great way to start or end your day. They also have complimentary breakfast as well as coffee. Right in the heart of Lisbon, easy to walk to stores, bars, restaurants. This was our honeymoon and we wouldn’t change a thing, highly recommend!

We absolutely loved our stay at Casa Balthazar. Honestly, the pictures really can’t do it justice. It’s tucked away and feels like a quiet little oasis in the middle of Chiado. The rooms are very spacious and clean, with a modern rustic look. The staff is so friendly and accommodating. And the breakfast buffet is so nicely done. It really felt like a home away from home. I hope to stay there again!

The location, size, staff and amenities were all excellent. Only negative was the shower, which was very impractical and the toilet area which was quite small and awkward. If you get up a night and forget about the step, it could be a hazard. Everything else was perfect. Would stay again, maybe try a different room with a better bathroom.

Casa Balthazar is a small, upscale, boutique hotel featuring just a few rooms. Our suite had a separate sitting area, a bedroom with a comfortable king-size bed, and a very spacious bathroom (especially by European standards) with a bathtub and a separate shower. The location is fantastic - walking distance to everything (we logged about 20K steps each day) and in the heart of the historic district up on the hill, yet very quiet and away from the traffic and the noise of the big squares. There are numerous restaurants and Fado show places just steps away. We had the Panoramic Terrace room and really enjoyed our stay. Our room was very spacious and comfortable and we had a great view from the terrace, so nice to be able to sit out, enjoy a glass of wine and look out at the city. The staff was very helpful, lovely breakfast and a good location for walking to local restaurants. Didn't have a chance to use it but they have a nice pool and really appreciate all the water bottles!

I loved it here. Breakfast is very good and having it served to your room is a treat. I had the duplux room and it had everything I could possibly need. The view from the private terrace was amazing. The spa was a lovely spot to relax. The bed was extremely comfy. It was 5 mins away from the main attractions. I actually struggle to fault the place.

We booked Casa Balthazar on the recommendation of other previous glowing reviews, and they were not wrong! We could have found a less expensive stay I am sure, but Casa Balthazar was exceptional in every way. I'm so happy we stayed there (4 nights). We stayed in their Duque Garden Suite and it was great! I only wished we had stayed some more nights in Lisbon so we could have spent more time just hanging around their facility, enjoying their amenities; however we had a very jam packed itinerary so didn't have a lot of "down" time. This was so convenient and the whole 'vibe' of the immediate area was great. The staff were some of the most professional, friendliest I have ever encountered. The design touches in the common areas were lovely. It felt intimate, charming, elegant. I would recommend Casa Balthazar without question, and would stay again. The continental breakfast items were fresh with some healthy options, and I appreciated a breakfast staff member bringing coffee to order, too (though there is a self-serve espresso-type machine available). Staying at Casa Balthazar was a fantastic experience. The staff was very pleasant and outstanding in service. Concierges Uran and Paula were the best👍. Highly recommend it for its location as well. We could walk and see whatever we wanted. A bit expensive, but worth it.

The experience was great. All the staff did a great job. Special mention to the Manger Ruth, who was absolutely fantastic. She went above and beyond to ensure our stay was a memorable one. Nothing was too much trouble for her. She has been the best hostess we have ever encountered on our travels. The owners of this hotel should be very grateful to have someone like Ruth managing it. After arriving in the early morning from Newark, waiting in customs for 2 hours, and driving through the chaotic streets of Lisbon, Marcia helped us find our way to the property, arranged for the kitchen to give us a free breakfast, and had our room cleaned quickly so that we could check in early and rest. The remainder of the stay here was similar. The breakfast was a definite highlight. It is lose to countless restaurants (which translates to some noise at night) and is a block away from Rossio train station (making a trip to Sintra very easy). I highly recommend.

Just a note, it might be difficult to get to as the taxi can’t take you to the front and one has to navigate an incline. Tip, you DO NOT need to take the stairs up to the hotel, just navigate up the road to the left. Highly recommend. Staff was always pleasant and helpful. We would definitely stay again

Overall a pleasant experience. Good breakfast, friendly staff and well equipped room. The location is a bit inconvenient and Uber car can’t stop at the door. You have to walk 2-3 minutes downhill to the pick up spot to wait for Uber car, which is very inconvenient with luggage or raining.

From the moment we arrived we were made to feel like honored guests. Our bags were taken upstairs for us while we received a tour of the property. We couldn’t resist the offer of cake and coffee before we went to our room. We booked the Panoramic Room with a sweeping view of Lisbon. It was spacious, very clean and quiet and had a well stocked kitchenette. The staff is very accommodating and attentive. Diego was always attentive to guests needs. Would definitely return and highly recommend this hotel.

Great property! We liked the breakfast, spa, proximity to Rossio, and friendly staff. Access by taxi or car is tricky and be prepared for walking up and down steps to Baixa. We had a city-view suite but the view was mostly obstructed. Recommend recicling bin in room or on property.

Casa Balthazar is a truly unique property, and was the best place that we stayed in a two-week trip to Portugal. We had a large suite, which was both comfortable and very quiet; bed was excellent. What truly separated the place, however, were (a) the staff and (b) the continental breakfast, which was truly outstanding. What a gorgeous property! Very spacious rooms with great views of Lisbon. It's also across the street from great restaurants and still quiet enough. Pool is wonderful (would be nice if there were more lounge chairs) and breakfast is excellent with fresh baked breads, cheeses, fruits, and ready made eggs. I would totally stay here again!

First time visitors to Lisbon, we wanted a comfortable hotel within convenient walking distance of the city centre and attractions and we were not disappointed. We stayed in Jacuzzi Room 2 which had, as the name suggests, a jacuzzi on the balcony and wonderful views of the city and castle. The room was clean and equipped with a small kitchenette, was spotlessly clean and with very effective double glazing given the bar on the terrace below. We slept very well given the extremely comfortable bed. Breakfast is a simple buffet with cooked eggs available on request but everything is fresh and replenished quickly - the staff were a delight and nothing was too much trouble. Another treat is the all day availability of tea, coffee and delicious cake in the lounge area. We appreciated the restaurant recommendations and assistance in locating our taxi driver when it was time to (reluctantly) head home. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would wholeheartedly recommend staying here.

Such a nice little place. We spent a part of our honeymoon here. Have promised to stay here again if we come back to Lisbon. Greatly recommend the Suite Terrace Castle view room (Rossio Terrace) The only let down was the breakfast - only sweets offered and no hot food. If staying here, go to a restaurant for breakfast.

We absolutely loved our stay at Casa Balthazar. Honestly, the pictures really can’t do it justice. It’s tucked away and feels like a quiet little oasis in the middle of Chiado. The rooms are very spacious and clean, with a modern rustic look. The staff is so friendly and accommodating. And the breakfast buffet is so nicely done. It really felt like a home away from home. I hope to stay there again!

Beautiful view from the Panoramic Balcony room! The location was great with easy Uber pickup. The breakfast was wonderful. The staff was friendly and responsive. Having access to the private spa area with sauna, steam room, and spa whirlpool was a huge bonus, too. I highly recommend these accommodations!

What a beautiful little gem hidden behind a door in a narrow street! The place is calm and peaceful but walking distance to many attractions and good restaurants. It was also very clean in the room and everywhere else in the casa! The staff was extremely helpful. The breakfast offering was perfectly presented and healthy. I would recommend for sure and hope to go back there one day!

Beautiful, quiet stay. The staff was helpful and the hotel and rooms were stunning. Breakfast was very good and we enjoyed it daily. The pool, while small, was a nice way to cool down after a long hot day out and about. The hotel is centrally located so it was very walkable to all the attractions.
