Love Manly. Good hotel. Great location, directly across from the beach. Short walk from the ferry. Was pretty quiet considering it is a pub, however the stay was mid week. The Guest Lounge is a great extra and Roof Top Bar is nice. Everything was good, with the exception of the included breakfast. Ordering from a set menu which ranges from a Croissant to a Big Breakfast. Day 1 Big Breakfast was mediocre at best. Both of us left half the food on the plate. Day 2 Poached eggs on toast, which was stone cold. Possibly due to low service staff levels or simply forgotten in the kitchen. Coffee was standard and direct quote from staff "If you want a nice coffee you have to buy separately". Surely the provided coffee could also be nice? Disappointing food wise. Would stay again but not have the included brekky as there are plenty of options nearby.

Great place to stay. Its a pub…definitely need ear plugs…so noisy. Market stall set ups start in laneways (beside rooms) at 6.30AM Rooms small but perfect; bars great (need more peak hour staffing); rooftop partying with DJ excellent. Sweet staff. Great fun!!!! Beach across the road. Ferry to Sydney a short walk.

LOVE the room and feel of the place. However it is VERY noisy with bars both below and above. We stayed a Saturday night and it was loud right into the early hours of Sunday morning.. But we went into it knowing that and managed to get sleep anyway. Couldn't get the WIFI working in room 42 which meant we couldn't get the Chromecast working, but there were a lot of TV channels available anyway. A great location right in front of the beach and close to great restaurants and everything you need. The Breakfast was great.

If you are planning on staying in Manly, and can snag a reasonable rate at this hotel, do it. Beautiful building with a crazy range of bars and restaurants built in. Rooftop bar is pretty spectacular, and shows off the terrific location. The room was super clean and well designed, great bathroom, great view out to the beach. The staff was quite nice, smart and prepared. On longer trips I normally stick to hostels and budget hotels, but I got a pretty good rate that was only a bit more than my normal budget. Very happy that I chose the Steyne, and would definitely look to stay there again if I return to Manly.

Our shower did not drain and almost poured into the room carpet. I pulled up the drain and it was revolting! Hair and scum was blocking the drain. Probably not cleaned in some time. Didn’t ruin our stay but wasn’t that great to find. Walking distance to everywhere. No parking so best to Uber or cab down to manly for the night. Breakfast was included and delicious. Many options to choose from and also great coffee.

Right opposite Manly beach, a tradtional 2 storey hotel. Rooms are quite small but clean and well furnished. There are several bars that serve until late including a rooftop one with great views over the beach. Breakfast is a single choice off a set menu but it was great quality. Unlimited tea and coffee was available. Great location at a good price would stay again

The property is quite old and historic. Its location is amazing being right on the beachfront. It is also very entertainment centred with something going on almost all the time. This is also one of the drawbacks as some of the music entertainment go on until well into the night. Ferries to Sydney are frequent and can be reached by a short walk from the hotel. Next to the hotel and part of it is a good cafe called the Tropikana. There are a lot of good restaurants within easy distance of the hotel.

Great location but you get what you pay for in terms of the rooms. They beds and fittings are new and good but rooms are small with no windows and noisy due to large pub courtyard outside. Also there were a lot of cockroaches when I turned on the bathroom light at night.

Booked a kings sized bed only to get two single beds pushed together, they came apart during the night, complained the next day and nothing was done!...toilet seat didn't stay up to pee...thumping music for two nights running till the early hours of the morning...positives, loved the beach nearby and the closeness to everything.

Ok. So. The Hotel Steyne is right on the beach at Manly. The location is its biggest drawcard. The staff are also really helpful. The downsides are as follows: 1. Very old property. Paint peeling off walls etc. old carpet. Just generally badly kept 2. The aircon just doesn’t work. The hotel says it’s fixed at 21 degrees but I had to have all the windows open as it was just too hot. The aircon controller on the wall is just for show. It does not do anything. 3. The room smelled a bit. Probably the old carpet. If you want an affordable stay on the beach this may be a good option. But just be ready for something the feels a bit like a backpackers.

You can not go past this place for position. Right on the beach amongst numerous food options. We had room 20 which had a fun retro vibe. It is however right above the pedestrian crossing and obviously the pub. Take earplugs or ensure you are a heavy sleeper! The shower also drains in to the the next room which holds the vanity, sinks and toilet area. Odd and annoying!

This is a very unique building across the street from the beach and has a lot of pubs and activities. I would only recommend rooms with windows, our room had 2 balconies with a great view of the water and of the pedestrian avenue.

Don’t stay here at weekend as you’re in for a noisy night. Club music until late or early hours, even if only seven people in the bars. Rooms are decently decorated and priced, but if you’re in the rooms which have a window in bathroom into courtyard, there’s no way to block out changing lights so like a disco in your room all night so bring eye mask and ear plugs. Otherwise, great location

There was a noise issue with the room I was staying in. Staff were excellent in finding another room where it was quiet to sleep for the night and extended check out time. They were so lovely! Absolutely stunning location and blown away by the view from the room.

No AC or other ventilation in out room. We were woken up by drilling on our wall at 6:50am. Had to find another hotel after the first night as the AC was not fixed and no alternative rooms available. Requested a refund as the room was not habitable and the staff knew the AC was broken but the hotel has not provided this or responded to enquiries.

Plenty of mixed reviews on this place and my experience was positive, however it is important to retain a sense of perspective when reviewing what you have booked, the hotel has a large sports bar complex on the ground floor that doubles up as a music / dance venue open until 3am which is frequented by masses of youngsters enjoying themselves. The food I had was decent, in particular the inclusive breakfast was excellent and I tried the full breakfast, poached eggs on sourdough and the avocado & alfalfa sprouts with tomato on sourdough. All 3 were delicious. Free bottomless coffee also a plus however i did have to pay extra for fruit juice which was not included. I did have a pizza one day which had been overcooked on the bottom and chips that were ordered were missed off but after a word with the manageress, these were replaced for free the next day I ate there. Beers / Service all fine and plenty of sporting action to keep my attention. Nice terrace out front with views of the water / beach. The bathroom was clearly a recent replacement and was walk in / wet room style with a rain shower- no problem here. Unfortunately the safe didn’t work and whilst staff were responsive when I mentioned it, housekeeping came straight away and acknowledged it was not operational. The issue was they didn’t sort it out, it was clearly a simple case of replacing the battery by removing the panel on the door, and I explained this to housekeeping every time but nothing was done :-(
