This was hands down one of the best hotel stays we've had anywhere. The staff were so friendly, helpful, and had excellent recommendations and history on the town. The room itself was beautiful, modern but classic, comfortable, with excellent views. The breakfast was lovely with a pianist to make the environment great. The hotel is in an area where you can't drive and they made it so simple to park and get transportation to the hotel. We were truly sad to leave and can't wait for our next visit. We would go back to Matera JUST to stay here

The hotel staff were very welcoming and helpful. Well located in the historical centre close to some monuments and restaurants. Trouble free access to secure parking outside the restricted area and shuttle service to the hotel all organised with efficiency by the staff. Lovely spacious room. Memorable stay. Highly recommended

What a lovely place ! Charming room decorated with taste very functional, in the heart of the sassi in Matera, close to everything by foot, lots of good restaurants around. The personnel is very friendly good advice and the breakfast is amazing ! Go visit the breakfast room and underground galleries you won’t be disappointed!!! Would definitely come back !

Corte San Pietro is right in the heart of the Sassi. although you must park outside of Sassi, the hotel communicates with you about parking & recommends a lot ihat you can park in & have a driver pick you up to bring you to the hotel. Once at the hotal everything is within walking distance, with shops, restaurants & historical sights near by. I would highly recommmend this hotel!

Matera… what a place!! It’s a wow on every corner and Corte San Pietro was the same. Our superior room was one of the original cave dwellings, updated for a comfortable stay. The only windows were in the door to the room, which opened straight onto the street, but we didn’t mind that at all. Not having a door on the bathroom (just a curtain) was a surprise… but only added to the uniqueness of the stay. Breakfast was delicious and served to live piano music in a room above the hotel’s old underground cisterns (which made an interesting post-breakfast visit). All the staff were superb, really trying their best to meet every guest’s needs. Sadly they missed our (2) requests for a missing bath towel to be replaced but no one can be perfect. Finally the hotel’s recommended parking was perfect. Easy to find well sized and secured and a l transfer service can be arranged by the hotel. Just remember that this is all additional cost though.. €20 per night for the parking and €30 return for the transfer. Overall we highly recommend a visit to Matera and staying in Corte San Pietro.

My daughter and I stayed here in May 2024. We absolutely loved this property! The property is beautiful and unique! There are underground cisterns to explore. There is a live piano player at breakfast. Breakfast is delicious! Our room was beautiful. It was the first time I ever arrived to my hotel room with a lit candle!! Beautiful! The property location was perfect for us. It was convienent to park outside of the sassi in a garage and be picked up by shuttle. The hotel is on a great street with restaurant options and a minutes walk to a plaza right at the rim of the “Grand Canyon”. The staff was absolutely amazing, even the owner’s dog made an appearance at breakfast. We highly recommend this hotel!!

Lovely hotel. Authentic sassi lodgings, immaculately renovated and we even had a beautiful view of Matera and the Murgia (and Festa della Bruna fireworks) from our private terrace. Fresh water and fruit every morning, and breakfast was delicious (definitely check out the ancient cistern system underneath, entrance from the breakfast room). It was my birthday one of the days and the hotel was so lovely to treat us to a bottle of spumante and some taralli and snacks. What a lovely gesture! Great staff and service.

Hôtel très bien situé dans Matera et facilement accessible à pied depuis le parking Sant Isidoro. Accueil chaleureux de Giuseppe et personnel souriant et très aimable au service du petit déjeuner. La chambre 13 avec son lit en mezzanine sous une voûte en pierre a beaucoup de charme.

We loved everything about this property. The location is wonderful, right in the middle of the old town so that you can walk to sights and restaurants. The room was very modern and the bed was comfortable. The two people who worked the reception were extremely welcoming and helpful, and the breakfast was one of the best we have had and served in an amazing room that sits over the old cisterns (that you can go down into and explore).

Spectacular proportions very friendly service. For the price we paid, there should have been a free shuttle from the parking to the hotel. Breakfast was skimpy. There was absolutely no protein with breakfast and I left hungry.

O atendimento é maravilhoso, so que é um hotel dentro de um predio antigo e portanto o quarto apresentado tinha muito cheiro de mofo por ser dentro de uma caverna, eles imediatamente nos colocaram em outro apto que tinha janelas e eta arejado.

Corte San Pietro should be proud of everything they have cosidered and carefully put in place. Yes, you’re in a cave with lovely surroundings, a perfect location and clean nice sheets but it’s the genuine feel and touches that made this one special. They had Prosecco in the room for our birthday, and sent a glass of fizz at the restaurant they booked for us. For all everyday there is fruit and water in your room, and their breakfasts are simple and classy tapas fruit cheese and cake. Water for your onward journey. We’re at another ‘5 star hotel’ and the extras just don’t live up to Corte San Pietro. Giuseppe was so friendly and everyone was, they cared and you can stay in any hotel with as many stars as you can find but you don’t always get this feeling. Thank you - genuinely

Es un hospedaje de ensueño. La habitación que nos tocó es una de las más hermosas y con muchos detalles. La propiedad está impecable, la atención es maravillosa. La cama y las almohadas insuperables, el desayuno buenísimo. La propiedad tiene mucha historia y unos spots increíbles. Sin duda es un lugar al que regresaremos cuidan mucho los detalles y siempre estuvieron atentos a nuestras necesidades. Giusseppe que tipazo nos cayó muy bien y que bárbaro que atento es este chico. Por esos detalles tan bonitos uno regresa a estos lugares increíbles en el mundo. El baño con lindas amenidades y está maravilloso.

The staff was very friendly and pleasant, breakfast was great with lots of variety and the room was clean. If you have any kind of respiratory issues a cave stay may not be for you, it is a little dark and humid.Overall Matera is a very special place. Grazia

I would highly recommend staying here and when I come back to Matera this is where I’ll stay. The staff was extremely kind, helpful and went above and beyond to make us feel welcomed. The room was clean and had such character. The breakfast was above and beyond amazing!

Staying in a cave room but having an entryway in the room with windows out on the gorgeous Matera scenery is perfect. We also had a porch with chairs to sit outside. The breakfast was amazing! Fresh and delicious food served to us by the most welcoming people you could ask for, Angela and Agnese. We also had a wonderful piano player, Gianni, at breakfast every day - now that's a first for us!. If we went back to Matera, which we hope to do some day, we would stay here again. The only negative is WiFi is not reliable in our room. Unfortunately across all of southern Italy our 5g T-mobile plan didn't work either so we used physical maps. We stayed a week and so were able to see a lot of this magnificent area. Most people only stay two or three nights and I feel that is not enough.

Absolutely wonderful experience. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The hotel is made up of several cave-houses, which gives you a very unique experience. Our room was very spacious, with a sitting area separate from the bedroom. Another sitting area outside your door on the courtyard is a great place to enjoy a night-cap. Matera has to be seen at night to be appreciated, and the Corte San Pietro hotel is right in the middle of it, providing an excellent experience.

Lovely hotel. Authentic sassi lodgings, immaculately renovated and we even had a beautiful view of Matera and the Murgia (and Festa della Bruna fireworks) from our private terrace. Fresh water and fruit every morning, and breakfast was delicious (definitely check out the ancient cistern system underneath, entrance from the breakfast room). It was my birthday one of the days and the hotel was so lovely to treat us to a bottle of spumante and some taralli and snacks. What a lovely gesture! Great staff and service.

This was hands down one of the best hotel stays we've had anywhere. The staff were so friendly, helpful, and had excellent recommendations and history on the town. The room itself was beautiful, modern but classic, comfortable, with excellent views. The breakfast was lovely with a pianist to make the environment great. The hotel is in an area where you can't drive and they made it so simple to park and get transportation to the hotel. We were truly sad to leave and can't wait for our next visit. We would go back to Matera JUST to stay here

The location and the hotel itself was excellent, truly a unique experience. However, even it paled next to the service, which was simply the best we have ever received. Friendly, family-like atmosphere, with staff members who seemed genuinely keen to discuss with us. Nobody was in a hurry, but everything worked.

Matera… what a place!! It’s a wow on every corner and Corte San Pietro was the same. Our superior room was one of the original cave dwellings, updated for a comfortable stay. The only windows were in the door to the room, which opened straight onto the street, but we didn’t mind that at all. Not having a door on the bathroom (just a curtain) was a surprise… but only added to the uniqueness of the stay. Breakfast was delicious and served to live piano music in a room above the hotel’s old underground cisterns (which made an interesting post-breakfast visit). All the staff were superb, really trying their best to meet every guest’s needs. Sadly they missed our (2) requests for a missing bath towel to be replaced but no one can be perfect. When I saw this hotel had 10/10 from many other reviews I thought this is the place to be. The location of the hotel is fantastic and our room was a good size with a view of the internal courtyard. However, from our experience the hotel was lacking in service, internal communication with staff and a set breakfast that was the same each day and it was disappointing.

Absolutely wonderful experience. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The hotel is made up of several cave-houses, which gives you a very unique experience. Our room was very spacious, with a sitting area separate from the bedroom. Another sitting area outside your door on the courtyard is a great place to enjoy a night-cap. Matera has to be seen at night to be appreciated, and the Corte San Pietro hotel is right in the middle of it, providing an excellent experience.

We loved everything about this property. The location is wonderful, right in the middle of the old town so that you can walk to sights and restaurants. The room was very modern and the bed was comfortable. The two people who worked the reception were extremely welcoming and helpful, and the breakfast was one of the best we have had and served in an amazing room that sits over the old cisterns (that you can go down into and explore).

Staying in a cave room but having an entryway in the room with windows out on the gorgeous Matera scenery is perfect. We also had a porch with chairs to sit outside. The breakfast was amazing! Fresh and delicious food served to us by the most welcoming people you could ask for, Angela and Agnese. We also had a wonderful piano player, Gianni, at breakfast every day - now that's a first for us!. If we went back to Matera, which we hope to do some day, we would stay here again. The only negative is WiFi is not reliable in our room. Unfortunately across all of southern Italy our 5g T-mobile plan didn't work either so we used physical maps. We stayed a week and so were able to see a lot of this magnificent area. Most people only stay two or three nights and I feel that is not enough.

What a lovely place ! Charming room decorated with taste very functional, in the heart of the sassi in Matera, close to everything by foot, lots of good restaurants around. The personnel is very friendly good advice and the breakfast is amazing ! Go visit the breakfast room and underground galleries you won’t be disappointed!!! Would definitely come back !

Spectacular proportions very friendly service. For the price we paid, there should have been a free shuttle from the parking to the hotel. Breakfast was skimpy. There was absolutely no protein with breakfast and I left hungry.

Get the parking information in advance and reserve your spot. They will arrange for a pick up at the garage and you don't have to schlepp your luggage which in Matera can be challenging. I absolutely LOVED this property and I have traveled to 37 countries. Charming - unique and I simply adored the cave experience.
