Meliá Casa Maya Cancún

This hotel is wonderful. It is not perfect, but it is great. Let me states some pros and cons. I'll start with the cons. The food was a hit or miss for me. Some of the food was very bland like the chicken tacos and most of the food at the Italian restaurant. That restaurant is only open for dinner and a reservation was needed. The service there was bad, too. We waited too long for below average food. It was also really disappointing that the Italian place is the only place that pizza is guaranteed to be available. One of my kids REALLY loves pizza. They did have tacos every night at The Grill. I can only recommend the asada tacos. They were great! The chicken tacos were really bad. No flavor whatsoever. The buffet is also hit or miss, but the are more hits there. Now onto the pros. The restaurant by the beach is awesome. I think we tried everything there and loved it all. At night a reservation is needed, but it is very worth it! I think you do need to be in a room at The Level to get into that restaurant. We had two rooms at this hotel and both had great views. The AC in the rooms was top notch. It felt great to go to the rooms for relief from the heat. The waterpark was a nice added bonus to the hotel, but it was not for us. We preferred the BEACH. The beach really made this hotel the BEST. In the past we have stayed at hotels in Cancun where the beaches are not good. The beach was SO GREAT that we never set foot in any pool. I highly recommend this hotel.

Pros: Nice hotel with super friendly staff. The restaurants requiring reservations had amazing food. The water park was a big plus . I really liked that it wasn’t one of these extremely large resorts where time is consumed getting to the different areas, this is just perfect. Plenty of beach and pool chairs at any time of the day. Cons: The buffet food leaves a lot to be desired. There aren’t many options for kids. The drinks could be bette.

Solo Que no tienen spa ni gym !!!! Pero por todo lo demas nos fue bien !!!

It only had one main pool with no walk up bar in the pool. Drinks are OK not the best wish there was more options for drinks.

No Gym. All else is great.

Everything was perfect- food, services, pools, waterpark. Every evening there were different shows. Perfect for family with kids

We didn’t have a good experience and will not go back to this resort. The only positive thing out of the whole stay was the staff. Resort, if you could call it that is small. All the shows they have planned throughout the week happen inside of the lobby area. Idk if you’ve ever been in a normal resort which always has a dedicated area for performances, but this one does not. The pool is a long rectangular that has a small shallow area, which is ok for kids but it’s not a dedicated kids pool. The water park is not great either, especially the smaller kids one. When you go down the slide you basically fall on your butt on a concrete with shallow water. My kids went down once and said it hurts too much. Food choices were not much better, I can’t say I enjoyed anything other than breakfast, but how hard is it to make egg omelet and bacon? We haven’t had a chance to visit the steakhouse restaurant bc they were booked the 3 nights we were there. We visited Italian and Mediterranean which were ok but nothing to rave about. The weather was bad as well with rain and strong wind the entire time we were there, I know that’s not the resorts fault and I’m not blaming it on them, but there was nothing to keep people entertained. My suggestion is look for something else to book. There’s plenty of resorts to choose from. Hope this helps. I’d like to mention Yulissa, Oscar and Ivan out of the staff, but like I said all the workers were super nice and helpful

Rooms were great and spacious. Service was great from majority of the staff. Food was underwhelming because of only 2 restaurants which means the buffet should’ve been bigger but no the buffet was one of the smallest I’ve ever seen. The waterpark was great for the kids and adults. The pool was also great for kids as it has a shallow section. The beach on the north side of the strip is more of a bay so it’s calm without any waves (good for kids but not good if you’re looking for waves).

If you book the LEVEL DO NOT UPGRADE DO NOT UPGRADE DO NOOOT UPGRADE!!! They try to make it look like you are getting a steal but in reality the level comes with perks already except transportation and a bigger room but the room is already spacious without the upgrade. The communication is so BAD nobody seems to have answers to ANYTHING, they all just throw you like a little ball to another person and none of them seem to know anything! Made my whole stay so stressful. On top of it we all came back with food poisoning, the food is not good! The restaurants take forever and so does the bar due to them only having one outside bar. The beach is public so be careful. Over all I would not recommend!

Overall very good hotel. It is not a large resort, but a beachfront high-rise hotel with a pool and 3 restaurants. Beautiful property with nice view, but it is a small property in a public beach. The rooms are incredibly spacious, renovated and nicely decorated, and impeccably clean. Views are spectacular. Bathrooms and showers are great. Beds are comfortable. The only opportunities for improvement on the bedroom are the scent of linen (even though new linen were always clean, they didn’t smell fresh); and TV system could be updated (allow guest login to streaming services, for instance). Food is good, nothing spectacular. The service at restaurants is a low point: generally slow and inattentive, with a few exceptions. One server in particular is exceptional, and I jotted down his name: Oscar Mendoza Lopez. If the hotel management is reading this review, Oscar should be training all other servers! Another good server (I think a supervisor) is a gentleman called Alexis. I also want to praise a concierge called Maria Jose who helped me with preparing celebration for a birthday during our stay. She was very helpful and did a wonderful job. The hotel also put some great entertainment at the lobby bar area every night, well above what I expected, amazing shows and activities. The timing of our visit was unfortunate, as it wasn’t very warm and it was very windy every day. I learned January is not a good time weatherwise.

Clean room and good staff. Luis from the Beach was friendly and provided us great service, along with the rest of the crew.

The check in area has a rare smell (it stinks) The room was great but the bathroom needs to be remodeled the sink faucet is rusted and the showered looked there was mold due to the humidity in the shower. Recommend more help in the pool area -drinks would take a while.

The rooms smell musty, maybe mold? The entire hotel except the reception area and bar had an overpowering musty smell. They placed plugged in air fresheners in the reception area to mask the smell. Staff were very friendly and polite! The food selection was better than most hotels. The entertainment was lacking.

Beach was nice with plenty of chairs, waterpark was fun for kids but food was not good. Struggled to find anything the kids would eat. Significant maintenance issues on the property. Our AC was out the majority of our stay, in our upgraded Level suite, making it miserable at night. Repairs were happening at the pool with electrical cords run where wet kids were playing. Elevator was out making it very difficult to make it back and forth to our room. Big chunk of the ceiling collapsed on first floor, looked like a leak.

The beach is the winner. Exceptional. The aesthetic of the hotel is beautiful. Small enough to not feel overwhelming, especially if travelling with little ones. Service is impeccable. Special shoutout to: Daniel from the international restaurant Uzi And Francisco - Grill restaurant Dylan and Christian at Cape Nao restaurant Fabuola at marketing team- very friendly and great host. Improvements- Cleanliness. They need to clean up the floors more often. Bathrooms left a lot to be desired, we found our shower needed a deep clean. Gym- a resort needs a gym. I didn’t even check this in advance of booking because it’s usually a given, was surprised to learn there was none. Babysitting- nice to have but if you guys could add this in the future, it’ll be a welcomed addition for many families. Overall- thank you!

Staff is very rude, we never felt like we were on an all inclusive because there were so many limitations. Bar doesn't open until after 11, breakfast doesn’t start until after 7, at one point during the day there is nothing to snack on. The hotel is WAYYY understaffed making the employees bitter. Bad hotel management altogether. There were only 2 elevators and 1 was broken the entire week we were there. Stairwell was unsafe to walk up and down, very damp and slippery. The only reason I’m not giving this 0 stars is because the beach was nice and the cleaning ladies were very helpful and nice as well. Even the shows were subpar. You also are told to return beach and pool towels or you will be charged but they don’t charge you, they use scare tactics to get you to return towels because they don’t have a towel service. Never truly felt welcomed. For sure will stay at a different hotel in the future, this was our first Cancun experience and we were so disappointed.

Our stay at Melia Casa Maya was excellent. The staff were extremely accommodating, welcoming and were very attentive. Everyone that we encountered offered professional and caring service. The facilities were clean and the food was delicious as well. We love that it was a calm environment, excellent for families or anyone looking for a calm vacation spot.

No hot water or phone services which means you have to tale the long walk to lobby to request anything. The room only had a bed and tv, nothing else no pictures night stand, no chairs. This place is not ready for guess.

Every thing about this place was great! Very clean and it shows with the staffs pride that goes into there work!

Visited Melia for a week this month. Had a wonderful time with our family and 3 young boys (age range 3-7). We loved the smaller size of the resort. The staff and service was excellent. I felt that they were so kind and did their work with joy, despite putting in long hours serving others. The food was good. Nothing extraordinary but it was still enjoyed. Only suggestion was to have greater variability from one night to the next. Overall though, it was very good. Loved the beach. Lots of good memories in the water and at the kids water park. Would definitely recommend.

Really clean property and our room was amazing! Had a suite on the top floor. Staff was fantastic and our concierge Victor was fantastic! Location is away from party hotel zone so it was nice and quiet for that. lots of families here as well.

I am a very picky about cleaning, the room was clean but the bathroom need it more attention the sink, under the snick and the shower. We just returned from our stay at the Melia Casa Maya. We were nervous due to the numerous poor reviews of the resort. We had a family of 4 with a 5 year old and a 7 year old. The good. The resort was beautiful. The pool was clean and great for kids. The beach was sugar soft sand and the water was crystal clear and calm, which was great for the little kids. The room was amazing. (We had a 1 bedroom suite, which gave us privacy as the kids could sleep in the living room) The ocean view was incredible. The waterpark was absolutely amazing for the kids. They loved it and spent a great majority of their time on the slides. Cons: The food... The food at the cafe during lunch was decent, but that's pretty much where it ends. The Italian was edible, but that's about it. The seafood restaurant was decent. The dinner buffet was borderline inedible. We have traveled to Mexico around 20 times, and this was probably the worst buffet I have ever encountered. The breakfast buffet was good. This is the first time we have ever considered leaving the resort to eat somewhere else for dinner. Overall, I would give the resort a 8.5 out of 10 if you are traveling with small children. It's not an upscale resort, but great if you have small children. If they could fix the food issue, I would have no complaints.

Amazing room, beautiful view, daily throughout cleaning. All the staff were so nice and friendly. The entertainment was really good and a lot of variety. The buffet is small compared to other resorts but the quality of the food was good and loved the selection of Mexican food. The beach is nice and there are plenty of chairs for sll the customers. The pool is super nice and the snacks and bar very convenient. No issues to book the specialty restaurants. We also booked an outing at the hotel and it was fantastic. Overall great experience.

The resort itself is nice. Could use more amenities like another bar since service was very slow to get drinks. Resort is very small and not a lot of dining options. Food was below average. Staff were rude & not very knowledgeable. I upgraded to the Level and was told multiple times things that would come with the upgrade were not included after all. Wasted several hours of my vacation to try and sort everything out. One person says one thing and another person says another. Everyone needs to be on the same page to avoid miscommunication and confusion.

This was a great resort. The staff are very friendly and helpful, it was very clean, the room was great, food was awesome, the waterpark was awesome for my son. I have zero complaints, as a matter of fact we have rebooked to come back in the spring!

Stayed during June 29-July 4 in Melia Suite. We booked this hotel for its location, the beach and water slides since we have a son we knew would enjoy them. Upon arrival, we were greeted with warmth and friendly service. Check in was quick, however it lacked explanation of the property’s amenities. Let’s start with the restaurants. The food choices are very limited. The grill offered the same food everyday. Would’ve appreciated different menus each day. The Italian restaurant was the best among the restaurants I should say. The pizza was the only food my son enjoyed. Our minibars weren’t stocked everyday. We always had to go downstairs to ask for bottle water since their phone in the room to call directly isn’t working. This became annoying but we chose not to make a big deal out of it. The service in the restaurants were great. You can see all these staff are working hard to make sure you are taken care of. I appreciate all the staffs on each restaurant for their service. On the other hand however, the service in the pool is lacking. There are only two servers in the pool which delayed service. The bar had its good and bad days. The service was slow despite seeing three bartenders behind the bar. Overall, this hotel needs a lot of work. We were disappointed in many reasons but appreciate the staff’s hard work. Are we gonna come back? Probably not.

The service here was top notch. The bartenders, servers, and entertainment crew was awesome. It is a chill environment and quiet in the evenings great for people just looking to relax. As well as fun activities in and around the pool during the day. Ariel the bartender, Oscar M the waiter, and Antonio on the entertainment crew were amazing and felt like a friend by the end of the trip.

This was an amazing experience for me and my family. The staff is helpful, attentive and made us feel extremely welcome and taken care of. The food was great, the facilities beautiful. I’d definitely choose this hotel if I visit again, it’s smaller than some hotels in the area and I think it’s what makes it even more charming as they really focused on fulfilling all our needs and getting around was also easy and accessible. This resort was absolutely amazing. The pictures on the website does not do the ambience any justice. From the moment we arrived at the resort until we arrive back at the airport, we were waited on hand and foot. The concierge was amazing, the staff was amazing, and the food was great. we chose this resort to celebrate both birthdays and our anniversary, which was a great choice. Every day the hotel provided us with celebration treats to include chocolate, covered strawberries, fruits, and complementary bottles of champagne with champagne flutes.b We stayed for three nights and four days and could not have chosen a better resort. The room was thoroughly clean and we receive room service every day of our stay. We indulge in booking a swim out room, which was absolutely amazing. The only downside was that the water in the swim out pool was freezing cold. The community pool Water was a bit warmer. If I had to recommend one thing about this resort, I would recommend that they make the swim out pools heated.

The beach was nice. Small enough resort so that everything is close enough (beach, pool, restaurants). Food was average. Service was slow. Check in staff was rude.

Todo súper bien en la estancia personal amable, solo muy poca variedad en el menú del buffet. Sin embargo los restaurantes de reservación están muy buenos. La playa es hermosa; solo se llena mucho porque a lado del hotel está la entrada al público en general. El área de juegos muy padre mis hijos se divirtieron mucho.

Great location.

The property is nice, it’s newly remodeled and our one bedroom suite was awesome with great views. The water park was also great. But, it’s a smaller resort than we are used to. They only had two restaurants in addition to the buffet. And a BIG negative was the fact that the beach was public. There were so many people not from the hotel using the beach and there are no restrooms provided for them - we saw poop floating in the water. It was very disappointing. Also, zero shade on the beach. Almost no palm trees or umbrellas to provide some shade. There were 4 umbrellas for 200 or so chairs. We will not return.

Property is small but nice, pretty well maintained. Beach is swimmable, shallow enough for kids, no large waves, it is clear, color is a bit green but still nice. Service was excellent most of the time. But there were a couple of moody bar tenders, the beach chair guy wouldn't move an umbrella and one day, no seats in the regular beach area. Food was decent, everyone found something to eat but sizing and presentation of food varies from day to day.

This is a fantastic option for families with young children. The breach is pristine, ocean shallow and gentle enough for our toddler to confidently walk a good ways in and the waterpark was so much fun - a daily must. Our 3 year old also LOVED the kids program activities and the teachers especially Cecilia and Abi were amazing with him despite him so young and often being the only child not fluent in Spanish. We really enjoyed our stay and felt safe and truly cared for.

I'm going to cut to the chase since my review was too long so I had to edit it twice.I paid just over 2,000 for 7 day package with my wife and I with flights included through expedia. So, taking that into consideration, I rated this hotel highly; because for what I paid for I certainly got my money's worth and considering I read some reviews that caused me hesitate-It certainly exceeded our expectations. Food-wise, while the other two resorts I stayed at had at least one more restaurant to offer and somewhat of a bigger sized buffet, My wife and I, including 3 other families that joined didn't lack finding something we all enjoyed and were quite happy with! There were two restaurants to choose from besides the buffet. There was some confusion with the 3rd restaurant we wanted to try called "The Grill" they eventually told us its closed for a few days so we never tried it. There wasn't a dedicated coffee or ice cream stand like the last place I went to had, but whenever we asked for a specialty coffee at the restaurant or bar, they did a great job at it, same with ice cream, if you ask a server they bring you some. The Ocean-Water was crystal clear and see-through for at least the first 40-60 feet with hardly any waves, perfect for kids! The pool was great, it was maybe 22 feet wide and 120ft long, and its depths varied so that my one year old son could walk around in the shallow section which he loved! The water park was cool. Rooms were clean! For the price overall-5 star!

I like the beach. It just needs to be cleaned better: the beach beds and tables should be cleaned daily, seaweeds should be removed regularly.

I traveled to Mexico for the first time with my children. The service from the staff at this hotel is terrible (when you order a drink, it takes hours to bring it to the table). The food is scarce. The beach is perfect, free of sargassum, and the hotel is very clean. I had to speak with the very kind manager about dining at a restaurant, since they had no availability for five days. I do not recommend the hotel.

This was a great resort. The staff are very friendly and helpful, it was very clean, the room was great, food was awesome, the waterpark was awesome for my son. I have zero complaints, as a matter of fact we have rebooked to come back in the spring!

The resort is really nice. My family and children really enjoyed the say but the only cons is the food at the mercado, which is the main buffet, is not the best. There is not a variety of food and it doesn't taste good at all. If the food is the buffet gets improved, the rate will be 10/10
