Holiday Inn Express and Suites Detroit North-Troy by IHG

We chose this hotel specifically for the pool and then we're not told till we got there that it was closed. Other than that it was clean and nice

On November 22nd, the entire hotel suffered a power outage. I was unable to eat breakfast and went to the airport without properly washing up. The staff offered no response or guidance.

Helpful, friendly and courteous staff, clean and orderly facilities, breakfast was delicious, great location (close to all amenities). Room was comfortable & updated. However, swimming pool was not in working condition the whole visit & gym is small & not that well equipped.

This property ruined our stay by advertising with a pool even though they knew it had been shut for maintenance 😒

Had a funky smell, elevator broke down, ac was not consistent, beds were never made and towels never resupplied. Friendly staff and close enough to everything while still being safe though. I’d still stay again, just be pickier on the room.

The pool was damaged and out of order. The breakfast options were nice except some of the choices weren't very good. The room was nice and clean and a good size. Its a good hoyel to stay at. Its close to alot of things.

The property is old, elevator fail 1 time, and we were there less than a day

I would give this property a 5 star rating but the pool was under renovations when we got there (with no pre warning before going) so the kids were disappointed. However, staff was wonderful,our room was spacious and clean, it was a quiet area and the breakfast in the morning was delicious

First my room didn't have any heat and they moved me to a bigger room the TV was acting and the next morning at 7:00sm the power went in the hole hotel and they don't have a generator to back up the power.so me and my wife checked out.

This hotel was dirty beds room was dirty the couch bed sheets look like they have not been changed they switched us to one room to make it up but the next room we had a roach in the Next Room was not very happy my kids were very scared to sleep there so I had to try to make it work for them and we were on a family trip for my daughter's birthday it was very disappointed on the hotel staff members were great but the hotel was not good at all I would love to have a refund back if someone can get a contact with me I would really appreciate it

Overall the property met our needs. It seemed quite outdated with peeling wallpaper and chipped paint. The furnishings were older but fine. Room needed a good cleaning.

We had an issue with one of the beds and the staff was very accommodating and got us into a new room quickly. Very clean hotel overall.

Could use some updating in the rooms. Overall felt clean, but the tub didn’t drain while showering, there were wrappers under the couch when we pulled out the bed, and the trim was falling off in places. Pool was warm and clean. Breakfast was great. Very easy on and off I-75.

I do not recommend this place. The rooms are absolutely disgusting. One had dark stains on the mattress, possibly from bed bugs. The other smelled awful, the rug was soaked from a leaking air conditioner, and there was trash behind the curtain

Place needed restoration, at least in the room. Wallpaper ripped, carpet smelled and had holes/rips, bathroom ceiling had water stains or steam spots. It just looked worn and smelled moldy/not fresh. Towels and bedding were clean, but not a pleasant room. (Entry and lobby were more modern, breakfast was fine.)

They put me in the handicap room which in my opinion was gross. I first walk into my room and the door slams into the bathroom door because it can’t stay shut. The whole room had a weird smell to it but cranked up the cold air to try and mask it. My bed looked like a toddler made it along with what looked like Cheeto dust on my comforter. Pool has no water and they offer no good food in the lobby to purchase. My towel in the bathroom also had a hairs stuck in the fibers. The breakfast was terrible. Would never stay again. I normally would never leave this type of review but this place needs a revamp quick.

The first room had a ketchup package on the top of the headboard. They gave us another room that had mold in the bathroom and the furniture was all tore up!! Hallways not clean looked like not vaccumed in days. The free breakfast was a joke. The guy did not know how to do anything and didnt want to refill the pancake maker!! Save your time and money. Only good thing was the 2 ladies at the front desk!! If i knew how i could post pictures i would!!

The shower had hair all over the shower walls. Air conditioner didn’t work properly.

The first room we were assigned had a very loud cooling unit. We wereoved to another room that was perfect.

The sole reason we chose this hotel was because it has a pool, but we were told it was closed on arrival. Staff said it was on the website and on Expedia but it was not. Also other guests that booked that same day had called and were told the pool was open. I didn't want to go through the hassle of cancellation and finding a better hotel in the very limited amount of free time that we had. I asked for a partial refund and was not given one. The room furniture was very worn out. The air conditioner condensation was soaking the carpet. Unpleasant staff made us feel bad for asking for refills of breakfast items that were empty 1 hour before breakfast service was supposed to end.

It was freezing in the room tv didn’t work it was very loud at night it really need updates I will never go back I really want my money back I left very early

Hotel itself was nice but I didn’t like that I could not close the blinds when my rooms faced a highway and had several light posts outside of it.

Has potential but needs new owners or management. Heater broke at some point during the night and we froze all night. Pool was ice cold and no pool towels in the area. Pull out couch bedding was not in the room. We went to the front desk for it and was told housekeeping hadnt left any pillows for them, so all they gave us was a blanket. Toilet filled forever and had trouble flushing.

Couldn't sleep because the AC unit rattled all night. Also, the curtains wouldn't close all the way so lights were shining in from the parking lot. This hotel is obviously in decline and needs some repairs done. I'll be asking for a refund.

Check in was quickly and smooth, our room was a little bit dated (90’s style), but that was not a problem because was very clean and the beds are ultra comfy. I kind of like the 90’s layout because rooms are really spacious. We had an amazing full hot breakfast. Overall wonderful experience.

Went to check in and they said Hotle was sold out

Several times we went to the front desk and there was no one there!

Me and my kids enjoyed our stay the front desk was very helpful and pleasant.

Checked in and said I didn’t have a reservation even after showing them my confirmation # for the 3 suites. They said that because I booked on a 3rd party that it wasn’t a guaranteed reservation and that they didn’t have any rooms available. Then the manager came out once he found out reservations but said it would be at least an hour before our rooms would be ready because they were still dirty and it was after 3. Then when our rooms were finally ready, they were still dirty. You could see hand prints all over the doors, mirrors were dirty and we had an AC unit that leaked all over the floor and had to change to a different room. I was told I was going to get a discount but haven’t seen anything on my credit card. Tyler had an attitude with every question I asked.

The beds were unbelievably comfortable. The pool was warm. Good options in the fitness room. Breakfast was hot and fully stocked all morning. Check-in was fast and easy.

The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The breakfast was perfect for our family with different diet options.

Slow service!

Booked and paid through Expedia. Got a confirmation from Expedia and when I arrive at Holiday Inn Express in Troy at 6 pm they told everyone waiting in line to check in that they have no rooms available and most everyone in line including me had already paid and received a confirmation for 2-25-23

I stayed here for four nights with my family. The location of the hotel was easy access and near a lot of stores and food places. We love that this hotel offers complimentary breakfast. The staff were very friendly, helpful, and welcoming.

What l like about the property was the convenient of selection of restaurants to choose from and the fact that Walmart and Target were closed by. In addition the property was located in a safe area.

Stayed 3 nights. Hotel was clean and quite. Room outdated but served our purpose. Located close to freeway. Breakfast was available however multiple staff members helping themselves to breakfast and congregating around area during meal hours on 2 of the days. Found them to be rude, unwilling to fill pancake mix even though meal time was still going. Coffee creamer spoiled. They turned off lights as to close up the area while a couple of families were still eating. Staff starting sweeping floor next to tables while we were eating. Pool closed. I would chose another place next time I visit the area.

The property was quiet, common areas were clean. Employees were not helpful, during breakfast they were at the buffet more than guests, the milk was sour, and stuff was informed it was not removed from the fridge. Pancake maker was only in service on the weekend not during weekday breakfast. False alarm fire alarm and no empyeea to be found. We were here for 4 days not impressed and will not stay again.

Pros- the breakfast was pretty decent as far as options. The lady working the breakfast was great, so kind! Cons- the pool was SO warm, it was not refreshing at all. After a long hot day, getting in a cool pool would be so refreshing. This was not it. I wouldn’t even go down there the 2nd day, so disappointing for my kids who love to swim. It’s the reason we chose a hotel with a pool. There were also no pool towels. The room itself, we really liked the lay out. The beds were comfortable. Unfortunately that was about it. Old K cup left in the coffee maker from previous people using it. Sheets and pillows has stains and small holes in it. The bathroom grout was gross too. Dust blowing out from the furnace/ac in the bed. Both lamps had some damage to them. Couldn’t use the plug in on the lamp, didn’t work. Our sign should have been the room number sign was falling off. The TV didn’t work well, was told it was that way for the whole building. They have directTV, it was glitchy with a small pop up in the corner saying to call the front desk. The pancake maker was also not working ( not a deal breaker but definitely a bummer) I don’t know if something changed with Covid but they don’t have housekeeping that comes by daily to grab garbage and fix the beds. Had to wait like 5 mins for someone to even come to the desk to check us in. This place is not worth how much they charge per night. I think it is in need of a desperate remodel. We will not be back.

The pool had foam in it. Not enough towels in the room for 4 people. Had to ask for more and only a couple were given. Only one garbage bag per small can was in room. Had to use Walmart bags for the garbage. The elevator always had stuff on the floor. The breakfast was okay but not many options. The sausage was super dry and it seemed that once something ran out they didn’t refill it. The lady that checked us in was amazing. The guy the next morning that helped with computer was great as well.

It was a great hotel for one night. Clean, great staff and the breakfast was awesome
