The hotel connects a high class shopping mall where lots of restaurants selections. We had Beijing Roasted Duck there. Shelly from the front desk was very nice and helpful. She offered us an accessible room and anti-slippery sleepers, etc. The hotel is very clean and looks new. The beddings seem quite new too. It’s definitely worth the price for us.

I have been loyal to this hotel for over 15 years. I was married in this hotel. So, it is with a heavy heart that I say it has been in decline for many years under the management of a European GM. There are no toiletries in the rooms because Pieter says this is China policy. I stay in dozens of hotels in China and this seems to be the only one that doesn't provide toiletries or has heard of the "policy." The place is getting old and I had to change rooms this stay because the first room had a very musky smell and there was incredibly loud construction noise. I was informed that this came from the project in the photo I will attach. I mentioned to the management that they should disclose this loud construction on Expedia so that guests can (at the very least) request a room on the side of the hotel that does not face the construction. I have tried on multiple occasions to share my advice with the management here but, as was the case on this trip, the GM does not even reply to the e-mails I sent him. The rest of the staff is very good and tries hard but the person at the top is very frugal and he has degraded this great hotel with a hundred small, silly changes. At the same time, they launched a big "rebrand" a few years ago which I'm sure cost a fortune. I don't think anyone cares about the rebrand. They care about arriving in a room where there is a toothbrush and the business lounge serves actual food rather than a can of chips and a jar of nuts.
