Mission Inn

Comfortable, clean, quiet motel. Rooms were nice size with microwave, refrigerator and coffee pods. Continental type breakfast included. Plenty of parking. I recommend this location. Also, great ice cream shop a few blocks away on Fair St. and the Mission Bar across the street for a drink and good conversation.

minutes away from the boardwalk and another beautiful coastal park. front desk staff was very helpful. rooms were spacious and had new wooden flooring. unfortunately, there was no pool, no fitness center, and no laundry facility on site. if those are not something you need or want, this is a good option. no black out blinds or drapes, just the wooden blinds that let some light through. pillow was firm, no soft pillows in my room. beds were fine. small cute outdoor sitting area with a serene water fountain. breakfast from 7-10, I'm a firm believer that the early birds and later folks should be accommodated to extend from 6 and ideally to 11, but 10 isn't bad. breakfast room is pretty small and not much for hot options unless you're willing to overkill on carbs. overall, given the price, i might still return.

I absolutely loved the amenities at the Mission Inn! The sauna and hot tub are divine! Plus a continental breakfast with waffles?? How can you go wrong!? This is the only hotel I book when I stay in Santa Cruz now :) I HIGHLY recommend!!!!

The only drawback is that there is no elevator. If you cannot handle stairs, you must specify that you want a ground floor room when making your reservation. The breakfast room is on the second floor. If you want breakfast and cannot do one flight of stairs, well....

Everything was smooth and easy to check in and set up, only negative was we wanted to do the hot tub later that night but it was packed and stayed that way until it closed

Large room with a separate toileting and sink area which is really helpful with a larger family. Loved the quiet patio/ garden areas provided.

Great front desk service. Clean room and parking right up front on site. Great selection for breakfast. Only downside I would say is that the jacuzzi was a bit murky and had an odd scent.

Hot tub was very clean and not full of chemicals. Cozy room and great service at Checkin.

The property was so beautiful, so many colorful plants it brought such a beautiful touch. The room was so beautiful and super clean, and you get a nice breakfast in the morning. Will definitely be coming back.

The check in man was rude. The room looked nice upon entering. The bathroom is made of mold. Under the bathroom sink was a black ring of mold due to the dripping pipe. The linoleum in front of that sink was lifting up, maybe water damage. I could'nt shower due to the odor in there and my kid has mold allergy. The breakfast though had a large selection.

Average hotel with less than average cleanliness. Room was mostly clean when we arrived but had a random sunscreen cap on the floor showing they don’t clean so well. Also one of the towels had a sh@t stain on it! Makes you wonder if they just fold the dirty towels and put them back without proper washing.

We liked that the property was clean and quiet. The room was nice and updated. We didn't like that not all the key staff spoke English. We also would have preferred that the breakfast room be open until 11:00am, instead of just 10:00am.

Unfortunately, we did not have a good experience here. The staff (we only encountered one person) was not very welcoming. The room was not clean. The floor had crumbs and dirt in all crevices. The bed sheets were clean-ish, but FULL of hair. So gross. It made me think that they share a washing machine with a barber shop or something. Plus, the sheets had lots of stains. I understand the desire to be sustainable, and not throw out perfectly good sheets. However, it didn't feel good to sleep on what looked like old coffee stains on white sheets. Hair in the bathtub too. Dust behind the TV. We had to leave too early in the morning to try the restaurant, so I don't know if the food is any good. Given everything else, I'm guessing it's not. Overall, this place is cute and affordable, but I just couldn't get past the filthiness.

The two receptionists (check in-out) each went out of their way to assist us. Floor nor clean but rest of room great. Met expectations.

I liked the location and parking. But the floor in our room was very dirty. There were hairs everywhere. It was quite gross.

It was decent; fortunately, we were in a room away from the street, but be forewarned that the street is pretty busy and rooms closer to the street are going to get more noise. Our room was comfortable and clean. Breakfast room is tiny.

The staff were excellent. Efficient with requests. Breakfast ok. The in room jacuzzi was not hot enough & jets were minimal. When we switched rooms - which staff made easy- the less expensive room was actually better. Bathrooms need towel racks.

Fan in bathroom was loud and intermittent. Overall adequate.

It's a solid, no frills motel but room was very clean and good sized. We stayed on the second floor corner right next to the street, which is basically HWY 1 and although it was loud outside, the walls are very well insulated and was pretty quiet inside. Their free breakfast is great with your typical bagels, cereal, waffles, yogurt, coffee, etc - but they also offered Jimmy Dean sausage croissants and biscuits & gravy which was a nice bonus so I'd say their breakfast is better than most motels in this price range. Hot Tub was average so nothing exceptional there, Its a couple miles from the Boardwalk so don't expect to walk from here but its only like an 8-10 minute drive with traffic. There's a fantastic brewery about a block away and great restaurants nearby. Definitely worth the stay for the price & staff was great too.

It’s nice area . 20 min walk to a nearest beach. Overall was good but you can hear your neighbors super super well. Night you can hear everyone walking and slamming things. But it came quiet after 10. Overall it was nice. I didn’t eat their breakfast since I ate out . Rooms are large with everything you need. I did see hair and stuff on thr floor but everything else was clean. The receptionists were really friendly.

The room felt newly updated and was very attractive. Front desk staff was friendly and helpful. I got an incredible price on Expedia! This hotel is on a busy street but that didn't bother me. I was a 3 minute drive from my daughter at UCSC and a five minute walk from my favorite Santa Cruz grocery store, New Leaf Market on Fair Avenue. Comfy bed, new towels, excellent WiFi. This will be my preferred place to stay when I visit my daughter.

The rooms have been renovated and had a freash look n feel. The room provides for enough space. Liked that the sink is outside the washroom but the exhaust made a loud sound. The AC somehow didnt seem to cool the room and it felt a little bit hot during the night but u got a cold blast if u were right in front of the AC. Breakfast didnt have eggs or sausages. There was biscuits n gravy, toast and waffles n cereal with coffee. Location is quite central. Would recommend staying here.

Mike the Security Guy kindly checked me (a solo female traveler) in late and helped me with my heavy bag. Breakfast room was kept clean and stocked, and the coffee was always hot and fresh. The room was clean, the fridge cold, and the housekeeping staff is stellar. Private hot tub is epic. Location close to groceries, several coffee shops, and restaurants. Kind maintenance man carried my heavy bag to my car. You can’t miss with this one!

“The place is very comfortable, close to the areas you can visit when traveling, with supermarkets and restaurants within reach without the stress of driving. Highly recommended. I should add that I left my AirPods at the hotel. They called me 40 minutes later to tell me I'd forgotten them and they had them. That speaks volumes about the staff and their honesty. I would have liked if there had been a pool for the kids

Convenient location, great staff

Beds were uncomfortable, front desk lady was standoffish and curt. Lastly, breakfast was weak—full of carbs and bad orange juice.

I booked this hotel for the She is Beautiful 5k/10k. I chose this hotel due to location. The room itself was spacious and serviceable and clean, beds were not that comfortable, bathroom was clean but felt worn/dated, towels the same. It was fine and did the job for what we needed. The issue I have with the Mission Inn is the front desk staff that was there at my check in. Simply put, he probably should not work somewhere with customer interface. It was obvious he did not want to be there, barely engaged and was rude to a Door Dash driver that arrived looking to drop food off--I happened to arrive at the same time and the clerk was obviously annoyed and asked if it was my order. I informed him I was checking in and there was zero greeting or engagement--definitely no hospitality. His energy was terrible for this job and it made me feel like I was a bother and unwelcome.

We left a bag with items we had purchased in Mendocino a few days earlier. The cleaning staff found the bag and the desk clerk called me, took our address and mailed the package to us. Great service.

The location and cleanliness of the facility were great for us on a road trip - easy to get to the boardwalk and back on the highway.

I think it's well located near the University of Santa Cruz. We had come up to visit our son. Loved the room.

This little place was great! Very centric, and pretty much right off what im assuming is a main street running through Santa Cruz. Close to many attractions, stores and downtown. The room was very clean, and the customer service was amazing. The breakfast was nothing fancy, but you also can't expect much if it's free, I suppose. The hotel is pretty small, and it's easy to get turned around while walking through the property, but it's practically a non-issue. Will definitely be staying here again.

Overall, the hotel was great and I would stay there again. The only thing I could complain about would be the traffic noise from Mission Street. Make sure to bring a pair of earplugs if you want to be able to have a quiet night. The continental breakfast they provide was wonderful, the room smelled fresh and clean upon entering and we found it comfortable. It is a close, quick trip to the university of Santa Cruz campus. It is a great place to stay if you’re coming to visit a student attending the college.

Mission Inn was very clean and the front desk staff were super helpful and friendly. The location is far enough away from the boardwalk to be quiet but still a short drive. Upper Crust Italian restaurant was a top notch family restaurant and the donut shop across the street was a hit with the kids.

Convent to dining and the ocean and natural bridges park.

It was clean and conveniently close to Natural Bridges and good restaurants.

We really enjoy this hotel. It is on the west side of Santa Cruz, a little farther from the hustle and bustle, but that’s just what we want! Lots of restaurants near by and only a 5 minute drive to the boardwalk. The rooms are clean and comfortable.

The front desk people were friendly, helpful and accommodating, the cleaning ladies were sweet and helpful as well. I saw reveiws that said amazing breakfast, so that was a large reason we chose here... we were disappointed for our situation, but it may be fine for others. The only meat was a biscuits and gravy, and only other protein options were cheese sticks, and yogurt, and hardboiled eggs. There was a nice variety of other items available if you can eat those. Toast, muffins, waffles, juices, coffee, bananas, apple, oranges. The 1st morning everything was full and being overseen by a sweet lady. The next morning everything was sparce with barely any options available and it wasn't even close to breakfast closing time. The most disapointing part was an inspector showed up when we were almost ready to leave. The lady who came in to show her around assured her as she peared into the completely empty yogurt, cheese, area that 15min ago this was completely full. (It had been empty at least 45min, no milk left for cereal. no eggs or biscuits and gravy offered that morning) ovrall the place was clean and we were happy with what was available, under our comforter on the sheet was a large blue pen or marker blot. hopefully they don't blame us for it. We loved the beautiful plants and alcoves for sitting and eating, as well as the hot tub area. Its just when you spend an exorbitant amount per night there are a few things/or standard you sort of automaticly expect to be provided.

Our keys stopped working after an hour or two and the toilet began making a high pitched whine intermittently. I would add that the breakfast should include some sort of protein options. Eggs, bacon, sausage... something besides varying types of bread.

Very expensive for what you get, which is an average older hotel. Breakfast choices were comical, as was the size of the room.

The room and the staff were great. The Inn itself is on a busy street so there was a fair amount of city noise. The big problem for me was that the breakfast was terrible and there was very little room to sit. The toaster didn't work well at all and there was no hot protein offering. It was a very small inconvenient room with not good food.
