Great location and the rooms were very clean. The rooms looked like they had been recently updated. The grounds were not very well maintained. They obviously took out the pool and left the pump house behind and even the skimmer. There was a wrought iron gate just laying on the ground with an orange cone on it. I think this property has a lot of potential but it needs some TLC!

I needed a nearby (I live in San Diego) getaway while some work was being done on my house. I also have a dog, so wanted someplace where I could exercise him and not feel like I was in an urban setting. The Apple Tree was a perfect spot for a two day get away. The room was a nice no-frills room with a comfy bed. The restaurant across the street (Heroes) and the breakfast place about a block away (Mom's) were both very dog friendly. Wynola is close enough to Julian (5 minutes by car) that on the second day I could just zip over and have lunch on the porch of Romano's (good Italian) and then in the evening, watch the night sky from vista point (Julian is a dark community). The hotel has a nice area in the back with rocks and paths for a small dog to wander around. Will definately return

Nice roadside motel just 3 miles from Julian. Cute well maintained motel w parking right outside room. Restaurants next door and across the road but they close early 8pm even on weekend. Rooms are updated and bed was comfortable. Wood floors are a little creaky and bathroom shower is old style tile but new fixtures. Wall-mounted a/c worked well and not too loud. Pool is closed for renovation. Overall nice motel near Julian.

We stayed three nights. The property is excellent value for the price and located adjacent to several restaurants whose food is superior to the eateries in town. The staff were friendly and ready to help. Only two negatives: no housekeeping visits during our stay (made my bed) and, above all, we were informed the day before check-in (I.e., after payment was non-refundable) that the pool was “shut for repairs” which, upon arrival, was clearly not a recent event. We were hiking every day in 95-100 degree weather and were really counting on being able to cool off in the afternoon. Overall, a positive experience and I would recommend it.

The room was clean, the bed was comfortable, the location was very pet friendly. It was a very hot day and the mini-split AC took a while to catch up. The pool was closed and covered but did smell bad if you got close to it. If it was open and clean it would have been a perfect trip. Staff was helpful and responsive.

They have no one in the office, no one on property to talk to, only a sign posted to contact them via text. They respond with a room number (after 4:00 pm) and a code to allow you access to the key in a lockbox outside your room. There is no ice machine or ice on property, the restaurant was padlocked, and the pool was drained and looked a mess. We were glad we only had one night there. While entering the room, a piece of the door feel off, was in bad shape, and had been dangling. Once inside, the room appeared clean, but the bathroom door handle came off in my hand. There was no tissue (cheap to provide, but empty holder) but had a refrigerator and coffee maker.

Cute place, convenient location to Julian. The grounds need some clean up especially the old filled in pool area and would be nice if the office was staffed. WiFi also needs to be better. Otherwise rooms are updated and staff via phone is friendly. Rooms available on time and can walk to the bakery, Heroes restaurant and the Wynola Farm / Pumpkin Patch.

The room was dirty as there were some bugs and flies in the room. Also, the shower had hair in it and bugs in it as well. The facility did not clean my room, and said they don't clean the room unless told to do so. For $250/night, I expect my room to be cleaned, and don't think that is an unreasonable expectation. Will never stay here again, and was very disappointed with this facility.

The check in was super easy. They text you the door code. Rooms were really cute and the oak tree / garden area in the back was adorable. I knocked off some points because the floors in our room were dirty and the shower water was rusty even after running the water for a long time.

The hand towel in the bathroom had been used. The person at the inn was annoyed at us for needing help to get into the room, the code that was given to us did not work. The chairs and tables behind the inn were very dirty, with bird poop on the back of the chairs, everything was very dusty. We could not sit and relax as we wanted to do.

Great find. This is an older property but our room had recently been remodeled. It was basic, clean, quiet and comfortable. The bed was very comfortable. The room could have used a chair to sit and relax in.

I'm not a fan of the electronic check in and out but I'm sure a lot of people are. The room was clean and the bed very comfortable. We ran the water for 5 minutes and couldn't get any hot for showers which was annoying. It's a good location.

Easy check-in process, quiet environment, comfortable beds and in the cold later evening/night the heater was a welcomed, awesome and easy to work amenity. The smart TV had all of the apps which was fantastic with no issues. I loved that tasty restaurants are within walking distance (very convenient) and downtown is only 3 miles up. I stayed one night. The only thing I had to take a star off for is the water in my room took a very long time to heat up, the water pressure was low in the shower, and didn't get hot. Other than that, I was comfortable and enjoyed my stay. Knowing all of this, I would still come back.

The outside looks like a traditional motel. Inside it’s transformed. New bathrooms. New paintwork and furniture and a very nice coffee machine. You let yourself in from a key in a lockbox so no staff are on site. Opposite is a great roadside pizza and burgers in American Hetoes. Live music and great food and service.

Didn’t receive the room # and code via text as was stated in the initial text. Showed up at the front desk at 4 pm, it was open but no one there. Unable to check until 6pm after many many texts, phone calls and messaging through Hotels.com, After receiving a phone call telling me they were trying to reach me?!?! We returned to the hotel where the front desk person was kind and helpful. Room needed repairs (damaged bathroom door, needed paint), shower soap dispense fell onto my husband's foot after 1 minute in the shower and spilled slippery soap on the floor and in tub. TV had glowing spots on the screen. WiFi didn't connect.

This property has a very late 4pm check in. If you need to check in earlier it costs an extra $40. There was no plug in near the vanity. The couple who helped us check in and answered our questions were very nice and professional. We will recommend.

I called the desk because the water wasn't warm enough to take a shower and was informed that if I give it 8-10 minutes it would get hot. Seemed odd but the water did in fact get plenty hot eventually! Room was clean and you don't talk to anyone to check in or out.

The property was fine for location, price and cleanliness. The check in is a bit awkward as the manager didn't respond to my text, so I had to call. Then when she gave me a code to unlock the door, it turned out she neglected to tell me you have to push another button even though I asked if you needed to do anything besides numbers like a # sign. Fortunately another guest showed me how to get in the room using the key pad. There was a symbol besides the four numbers. He said he's been at that room befoer and the door keypad was a little difficult.

We had to wait to check in because the staff had left the property to get dinner. When we called the number, we had to call 3-4 times before getting an answer. Also, a staff member unlocked our door and walked in on us an hour before check out. My girlfriend was changing at the time!

We booked through Expedia and they gave the owners a wrong phone number. Check in instructions sere sent to the wrong number and the owners were not at the property nor answering their phone so we had no way to get into our room. I do not blame the owners for the mix up but knowing that we coming into town, they should have at least checked their phone for messages in case there was a problem. After 2 hours of asking around for help in contacting the owners, Expedia was finally able to connect with them and we were able to get into our room. Other than a frustrating check in, the property was cute and in a beautiful location.

The parking was easy and there were nearby restaurants and pubs. It was clean and well-maintained. It was easy to check in. The only downside is that location-wise, despite being close to Julian, it definitely isn’t walking distance and there’s no real public transit in Julian.

About 3mi out of Julian town center proper, but after touring there, this was a great find for overnight. We were on motorbikes, so appreciated being able to walk to dinner and evening drinks close to the area, but still have quiet accommodations. Great find!

I liked that I got messages on my phone of when the room was ready, the room numbrs and the codes to get it. We needed Ice in the rooms so we called the front desk and it was delivered on our rooms before we even go there. Two dinning places in walking distance were great. We will return

We had a great 4th of July with our dog. It was very quiet and we lived that Julian Cidery was walking distant. Great restaurant on site as well, Jeremy's on the Hill.

I stayed here because the hotels in the town i worked in were fully booked. It was a 14 mile drive, but was well-worth it! Clean & quiet place with an excellent restaurant right next door! I will be staying here again!
