Stayed 2 nights

Despite booking three weeks prior to arrival, the Owner had not looked at my booking, including lower bunk only for the two nights, due to my disability preventing me getting up into a top bunk. This request has never been an issue in any other Hostel. Additionally, there is a strict rule, only advised on arrival, of no alcohol to be consumed on or off site for the entire duration of stay, plus the additional rule of no drugs, including prescription and over the counter, to taken taken, again, on or off site, for the entire duration of stay. I take several prescribed medications for epilepsy and spinal cord injury. Not to take them leaves me requiring medical assistance. Without knowing the medical history or medications involved, the Owner would not allow me to be checked in and refused to process a refund, advising that I had to cancel the booking. The Owner, for over thirty minutes, gave all sorts of reasons why a refund could not be given; including laptop at home, plus having to pick up children and wife, during the short check in period. Owner will not take a phone call from Hotels.com, preventing a refund being actioned. Once on the train back home, I mentioned what happened. The local was able to name the Hostel, advising that this has happened on multiple occasions since the change of Owners. Book at your own risk.

Stayed 1 night

T who runs the place is the most helpful knowledgeable person you'll come across. Makes you feel so welcome, nothing is a problem. Great facilities, it's like a house, as in it's got all you might need. I have had a most enjoyable stay. I wish them some busyness because they deserve it. Just not when I come back to stay (from Christchurch) lol. All the best, if I'm ever in the area I'm staying here again!
