We loved our stay at the charming Telegraph House. It was exactly as we’d hoped. Conveniently located in this small charming town and we could walk to everything. Staff was very helpful and our meal in their restaurant was absolutely delicious! Thank you for a great stay.

We were delighted to find that the restaurant opened on the days of our arrival so we booked dinner and were treated to a first class meal and wonderful ambiance. The unit was really clean and comfortable. A great choice before heading home! Jordana & Lois

The property is a remodeled heritage House. The remodel was nicely done with updated electric and plumbing. The room had top shelf linens and furnishings. Our only dislike is that there is not a fridge or coffee station. You can get coffee downstairs after 7am, I am an early bird who loves her tea. Also be warned some some are up two flights of steep and narrow stairs. We were warned.... but it is a struggle with a heavy suitcase, impossible with bad knees or any other mobility issue.

I stayed in one of the rooms in the motel at the back. Nicely maintained original property. Staff were very helpful. There was some construction happening outside on the property that took up a few of the parking spots but didn’t pose an issue. Would definitely stay again.

While we initially thought this historic property might be charming, it is just old and in need of serious renovation. We stayed in a one-story room up the hill from the older, historic home. It was sparsely decorated and had a very musty smell. Fortunately, we had a portable AC unit in the room to make the temp bearable. Bathroom was small and although the window was frosted, a shade on the window would have been appreciated. Our friends stayed in the historic home and there was no AC unit in their room. Do your research before booking here. There seemed to be several other nicer places to stay.

The location was the best thing about this property. The room we started 28 was smelling of dust. It was very difficult to sleep. The room AC was making lot of sound. We had to turn it off. The beds were uncomfortable to sleep. Overall very poor arrangement compared to the price.

We stayed for one night and would happily have stayed longer if our schedule had allowed. Our room was in the motel; it was spotlessly clean with a good size bathroom and comfortable beds. There was ample parking and an excellent bakery across the road for breakfast. We didn't eat in the hotel restaurant but heard that it's very good. The village is beautifully situated with lovely views and nice shops which we took advantage of for some souvenir shopping.

Good motel at a good location in Baddeck. The room was nice but the fan was broken and when I asked, the staff were confused and then came by to check it out. Then the manager said that there was nothing to do and “it’s cold, so don’t worry.”

Stayed 2 nights in Room #3 and bed was very comfortable but room is very small. First night every guest walking down the stairs and loud talking from check out below the room downstairs woke me up but second night wore ear plugs and slept well. Excellent location and right in the center of town but would stay in a different room then Room #3. Cable Room restaurant was excellent.

Although the room was small it was clean, the air conditioner worked well. This is a old hotel and it shows it's age. We found it pricey for what it is. Also, no breakfast on site. They did offer coffee at the reception desk in the morning but we opted out as we went to a restaurant for breakfast

Room was good but no sound proofing on the door and we were at top of the stairs and could hear noise and conversations from everyone in the lobby. Staff were talking after 11pm which was annoying and let them know in the morning. Did not eat at the restaurant as only for dinner. Would be nice if they offered breakfast since the restaurant is there.

Mattress was worn out and lumpy giving no support for a good nights sleep. Only one lumpy pillow each and no second pillow to prop up to read or watch a show. Toilet sits crooked on the floor and makes a loud squeaky noisy when you open the lid...the seat moves around when you sit down. The screen on the window is torn so if want fresh air you get bugs coming in. The price is unreasonable for a room of this quality.

The lady that welcomed us was so nice and gave us excellent information about the town and surroundings. The rooms were clean and comfortable. The owner of the House which has been in his family for many years was also very interesting to talk to and had great information to share with us about our stay. I highly recomment the Telegraph House.

The hostess was incredibly gracious and well informed of the area. Had a welcoming and helpful attitude. Recommendations for the area and very knowledgeable! I was concerned when we got the room at the top of the stairwell that we would have to deal with noise from other people going up and down, I was pleasantly surprised that it was not the case!

We arrived in Baddeck for what was to be a several-day hiking excursion in the Cape Breton Highlands park. During our check-in, we were told that the park had just (literally -- an hour before we arrived) been closed indefinitely for fire prevention due to the drought conditions. Needless to say we were extremely disappointed but appreciated the guidance from the staff on our options for alternate activities and recommendations on breakfast options for the following morning. Our room was totally charming and we loved sleeping in the very comfy bed with the window opened to the fresh air. We had dinner at the most-excellent on-site restaurant, The Cable Room -- superb food, superb service. We would definitely stay there again. We'd also recommend The Freight Shed for breakfast -- 5-minute walk, very generous portions, nice friendly staff (if somewhat overworked -- be patient waiting for your bill to arrive), and small-pet friendly: the lady next to us had her Chihuahua in a bag on the table!
