The pool and gym and dining and coffee onsite are fantastic features!!! I saw one dead bug in the hallway to my room and there was a small spider in my room but I wasn't too concerned. I would stay here again.

I think the back door from the car park opening automatically is a security risk, you should have to use your key to open it, as it is, anybody can walk in. Would have liked the restaurant to be open on weekends

My adult children booked 3 separate rooms at this hotel for 1 night. All 3 rooms had issues. 1 had a distinct sewerage smell from even outside the room and thankfully she was moved. My son had a broken toilet that would not flush and when reception was advised they were told no maintenance staff worked over Easter and they did not have another room available. Really unacceptable with no solution offered other than to use someone else’s room…not even a compensation of a free breakfast. Considering reviews and rating of this hotel which is why we booked we really expected much better and would never stay again.

This is a great spot to HQ a trip to Canberra. Great price, has a pool and the rooms are comfortable and quiet. Thought we were going to be too far from the CBD. However, its an easy few minutes by car and nice to retreat to some quiet after some full days around town.

It was a return visit, our choice based on a previous stay. We were therefore disappointed to be without a TV on our first night. The duty staff member was unable to fix it; neither did he notice the reason the room phone was not working was that it was not connected to the circuit. Being offered a room upgrade was not enough, because we had unpacked and were tired and settled in. Next morning, the day manager identified the TV problem - a broken cable, which he replaced; and he connected the phone. Our second night was accordingly fine - but the stay had by now been spoiled.

The hotel room was a good size, but the design of the bathroom was terrible. The toilet stuck in a corner with the sharp edge of the corner vanity impeding in the toilet. This design is not suitable for a larger person or someone with mobility issues. Staff were helpful.

Fridge was turned off to save money, fridge sets in the cabinet, so there is no room for the hot air from fridge to escape. Washroom was tiny. Toilet and sink was cramped. Inconvenient to use. Washroom exhaust fan was old and noisy like a diesel engine running. Pictures in the website are misrepresented.

I was spoken down to when I checked in because I "booked through Expedia". I should have "booked directly with the hotel" After that encounter, I was given a room that had a strong unpleasant odour. A staff member was sent to check it and he insisted I be moved. The new room was very clean. Housekeeping entered my room even though I had my Do Not Disturb sign on the door. Whilst the front desk staff weren't great, the restaurant and maintenance staff that I encountered were wonderful

Just want to give a big shout out to the lady on the front desk. Jodie, I believe. Super friendly and great at her job. She allowed us to book out slightly later than usual which really helped our itinerary. Would recommend if you aren't planning to spend a lot of time in a room and exploring Canberra and need a clean and conveniently located motel. Also parking wasn't an issue at all which can be a problem around Civic and suburbs around Civic.

We spent 3 nights in the Garden City hotel on a visit to Canberra. It is well out of town for anything within walking distance but a 10-15 minute drive will get you anywhere you want to go. The hotel is well priced compared to others close to the CBD. The room was clean, the bed was big and firm and the shower was the best I have ever experienced in a hotel. The pressure available was tremendous. We did not have breakfast there, preferring to find a café a few minutes away so I cannot comment on it. There is a German Club next door which has very well priced meals if you don't want to go into town. There is also a golf club across the road, we did not try it but I assume food would be available there as well. Overall, gathered that you need a car to get to most attractions in Canberra no matter where you chose to stay, this is a great option
