This was by far the best stay I had on my entire trip! Tucked away in the cutest little village, this perfect gem has all the charm and feel of the island. You can truly see the care put into every detail of the interior, making the entire stay feel warm, authentic, and inviting. My favorite part was hearing the frogs at night. I opened the windows, listened to the sounds of the island, and had one of the most peaceful nights of sleep on the entire trip. I will definitely be back! If you’re visiting Hawaiʻi Volcanoes National Park, I highly recommend staying at this charming little Chalet Kilauea. You won’t be disappointed!

It’s like staying in a cool treehouse. My room was very spacious and quiet. The hotel has no staff on site but easy enough to contact if you need anything (I didn’t need to contact them for anything though). Definitely a cool place to stay.

Quite and secluded but mind your head on low beams and watch your step on different levels in rooms

It was advertised as a charming room with a view of a Japanese garden and koi pond. We found it no better than a low budget motel with a poorly maintained pond and a dead fish floating in it. The "kitchen" was adequate with a small counter set much too high, a tiny coffee maker, microwave and a mini fridge. There was an ice tray provided in the refrigerator but was useless because it leaked through multiple cracks. The shower also had a large buildup of hair in the drain cover.

Clean room with everything you need. Couple fans, wall mounted fireplace heater, dehumidifier which kept the room dry enough though bit louder. Bigger bath with separate dressing area. Very close to Volcano NP and the communication with the host was top notch. Not much food options near Volcano NP but good food in Hilo. Nice little garden area with koi pond. Overall we loved it and we will definitely come back here. PS - Parking like others mentioned can be bit tighter but it was ok. We came in a 4door wrangler and was able to squeeze in without problem. Full size suvs might be a problem. The last spot near exit is big enough to park a full size suv.
