Alaska Heritage House Bed and Breakfast

We had the most amazing time staying here and Jill and Scott were fabulous hosts. The house itself is a piece of history - beautifully restored in victorian splendor. We had a grand tour and were able to use the gorgeous lounge. Our room was super comfy and had everything we needed. Breakfast was amazing! It was different every day and was really delicious. Our lovely hosts provided so many great suggestions for restaurants and fun things to do that it made our trip to Fairbanks so memorable and we loved their company as well as other guests staying. The house is located easy walking distance to downtown and we usually walked to one of the great restaurant options for dinner. We plan to come back in summer to enjoy the porch swing. We will definitely be back in Fairbanks and will definatley try to stay here when we do.

This review is 5 stars only because we had Margo. Margo is an employee, she doesn’t own this B&B and she may or may not be there when you book it, so I would say this is a review qualifier. Margo was amazing, cooked the best breakfasts, provided all the information we needed, offered to drive us around, she does above and beyond her job at this hotel. She even went to the store to buy us specific dishes for breakfast. Never had that before in any B&B. This is a historic house, almost like a museum, where every room is decorated with antiques and where you can learn a lot about the history of Fairbanks and Alaska just from going from room to room. It is really fascinating. The decor is not modern, the bathrooms are old, but that’s the whole point. There is no TV anywhere in the house, but then again, there wasn’t a TV back in 1916 when this house was built. I would also say that the heating system is amazing. The kitchen is part of the public space here, which is unusual for a B&B, and that’s because no one lives here. It’s fully stocked with snacks and drinks and everything you need. We got special treats for our stay in our room as well, which had a fully functioning kitchen for our own private stay. The piano hasn’t been tuned since the Raegen administration, but did I say the house is full of antiques? Location is perfect, 2 minutes walking distance from downtown Fairbanks. Parking is not an issue unless the place is packed in the summer, but we’re there in September. The

Very interesting house history and charming Victorian interior. Original boiler and pipes in the lower level and historic photos are fun to see. Lighting in common rooms is rather dim though and furnishings could use some attention. There are too many antique decorative items everywhere, making spaces cluttered (that observation might just be a reflection of my personal tastes). Staff is friendly and the kitchen is well stocked with 24/7 beverages and snacks. The location is good for walking to/from central Fairbanks.

Owners were very concious of my dietary needs. The entire house was decorated beautifully.

Unique and nicely restored and maintained period home. Hosts were friendly and knowledgeable. Chose your room carefully as lower level does require several narrow stairs. Breakfast had limited offerings but snacks and beverages were readily available.

This is a beautiful old property on the historic registry. It is furnished with antiques and period furniture. Don't expect an elevator. The plumbing is also old style but works fine. The lady that runs the B&B, Jill, is charming and engaging.

Wonderful place to experience a taste of Fairbanks history! The hosts are warm and welcoming, with great stories about the area and the history of the property. The breakfasts were delicious. The breakfast each morning was wonderful and it was truly enjoyable to be able to chat with Scott and Jill about themselves, the history of the property and the area. Their knowledge of Alaska was extensive and provided an excellent basis for making the most of our first time there. We especially appreciated advice on ways to view the aurora, locations for optimal opportunity and their perspectives on how to approach the experience. Prior to our arrival, Scott reached out via text to provide every bit of information we needed to arrive and access the home easily (make sure to include your phone and email contact data in your reservation information as this advance briefing made it easy for them to anticipate our needs, timing and make sure we had immediate access as while they are located nearby, they are not always in site). Two of our three nights had no other guests in the house so we had the place to ourselves and in the third we enjoyed talking with and sharing experiences with the nice couple who arrived and joined us. Heating was radiant style, so it was comfortable without the blowing of forced air into the room, and all other utilities were fully modernized so the environment was excellent. Top notch all around and highly recommend.

Margo is the best; she is so sweet and helpful! Just in a sec, you can talk with her like an old friend! We enjoyed the stay at Garden room, personally I like this a half-attached room which we can enter from side door and also we can walk to the dinning area through basement…we had a taste of ancient culture here..room is clean; and breakfast is simple while you can have many combination choices..unlike morder hotels; we can have access to the food and soft drinks anytime at kitchen..plus, you can meet and chat to other travelers and share your trip experience

We enjoyed the vintage charm. Margo made us an excellent hearty breakfast and shared lots about the house and it’s history. So interesting. Our room was the Georgia Lee and the only thing it lacked was an adapter with USB ports. I fortunately had one with me for my hearing aid charger and phone charger! It was a fun stay! Thanks!

The caretaker was extremely hospitable and had a hot breakfast ready even though it was listed as continental breakfast. Place had plenty of Character and the bed was comfy.

Our stay was so off the charts amazing we're not sure how to even begin our review of the Bed and Breakfast ~ imagine being your grandmother's favorite grandchild and walking into her home and being embraced by the aroma of gingerbread cookies and every other smell that is so delicious it takes your breath away and then imagine being greeted by the proprietress {that would be Jill} and warmly greeted and welcomed to this amazing property that is listed on the National Register of Historic Places ~ taken on a tour of the beyond beautiful home then taken to your room that is even more perfect than the brochure shows and then awaken to the most delicious mouthwatering homecooked breakfast imaginable...joining the hosts Scott and Jill and other guests for breakfast ~ coffee and conversation memory making and good cheer! This was the end of our 3 week trip exploring Alaska, After some questionable hotels along the way, the Heritage House was a real treat, and a highlight we talk about all the time. The house itself is ornate, beautiful, and very comfortable (if very quirky and unique, this is no modern BnB!) Our host Margot was one of the best people we encountered over 3 weeks of travel! She went out of her way to make our stay pleasant and was super attentive. The house is nicely located, easy walking all over down town. We may return to Fairbanks just to stay here again!
