I loved my stay here! The staff made everything so easy when it comes to checkin, check out, parking, answering any questions, etc. The restaurant was fantastic along side the happy hour. The coffee was great alongside delicious pastries and breakfast tacos. The pool was nice and relaxing. Even near a busy street, the property remains quiet and calm. This place truly was an incredible stay and I would come back again.

Hotel was well kept and just like the photos. Barton Springs was an easy walk with a lot of food options near by. Totally walkable to downtown Austin too! They make you pay for parking on site which isn’t listed here and was a little disappointing. Otherwise, an awesome stay and would stay again!

Parking is limited, even with paying for a spot. We had to clear with staff to park in the handicapped spot because there is not enough spaces. We attempted to use the safe available in the room and the front desk had no idea how to work it.

I really loved everything about this hotel. I got to enjoy the saltwater pool. The restaurant and cafe all had fantastic food and beverages. Aesthetically very cool inside and out. All of the staff were so friendly and made me feel right at home. Location was perfect as I was able to run in zilker park and walk to Barton Springs for a swim.

I’m so pleased I booked this hotel - it couldn’t have been better. I stayed for 8 nights and the location was brilliant, walkable to everything I wanted to do and close to several excellent food options (Terry Black’s for barbecue, P Terry’s for burgers, and many others). The room was incredibly clean (I walked around the room barefoot on the concrete flooring and feet stayed clean - very impressive), spacious and comfortable with everything I needed, and no noise from neighbouring rooms. Excellent service from all the team, they were really helpful and welcoming. The coffee shop and pool at the hotel were also fantastic. I didn’t use room service but did order food at the pool one day and that was great, and very good value too. The rooms and all areas of the hotel are very well designed and very well maintained, and I hope to have a reason to return to Austin so that I can stay at the Carpenter Hotel again.

Food is excellent. Employees very attentive. Room not cleaned in three night stay. Bed comfortable but very low, difficult to get up from, same with the couch, which was very uncomfortable. Room small compared to Marriott or Hilton rooms. Summary: Excellent place to eat or meet for a drink; not a good place to spend the night.

Not very good at all. The room was so inconvenient. I do not do my make-up in the bathroom so I could barely see how to do some of it sitting on the couch because the lighting was awful unless it was daytime and the drape was opened. Lighting was pitiful. The bathroom faucet had a tiny stream of water coming out. Almost unusable. The shower was great and the location was really good for me and my husband. The ceiling was old concrete as well as the floor. It they want that motif someone should at least clean them up some. We didn’t have to pay for parking which was good and we felt our car was safe in the parking garage. Not too many areas were very safe in Austin overall. We had only one washcloth when we arrived and put the sign on the door not to clean the room. But they did anyway and then we had no washcloths or hand towels. They said they had not been cleaned yet but finally got us one washcloth and a hand towel.

Cute design… retro… industrial. Staff are all friendly… chill vibe. A/C blower motor in room sounded like an overloaded clothes washer on spin cycle… given the presence of ear plugs and a white noise machine in the room, the noise level is apparently known to the hotel. Guests should also be aware of the adjacent dog day care facility and be prepared for the early AM barking. All in all, we would stay again but we would definitely request a room AWAY from the doggie day care and one with a quiet a/c system.

Unusual decor reminds one of a spa swim club. Interesting to learn that this was one a place where visiting carpenters stayed, hence the name. We had a private balcony looking into the branches of a large pecan tree. We loved every aspect of our room. And nearby Barton Springs Rd. has lots to offer!

Check-in process needs to improve. Room with poor location given to an Expedia VIP when the property was not close to full. This has been a consistent problem on recent stays at this property. Seems to be a result of inexperienced/new staff doing the check-in.

Thanks to the text service, I was able to arrange an early check in. Once I arrived, staff were friendly at the front desk and quickly got me checked in. Walk to room was really special. The boardwalk passing along the patio with the string lights & plants was beautiful. Room was clean & bed was cozy. Loved the comp Rain Water! Enjoyed the amenities and the balcony!

The hotel was great! I discovered it on Instagram last year and had been waiting for the perfect excuse to stay there. The property and rooms are beautiful. All but ONE staff member was phenomenal. See, I arrived at 9:00 AM and inquired about an early check-in (something their site specifies to do). I explained that I had a change of plans and would have to return to the airport at 2 pm, so I just needed the room to take a few calls. I stated I would obv. pay for the night in full, either way. The lady at the front desk seemed annoyed with me. WELL, CHECK-IN IS AT 4:00PM, she stated. She then told me she would need to charge me a fee (as a deterrent, apparently). I told her that was fine and even suggested paying to upgrade my room if it helped. "Well, I have your number, so I will let you know if anything is ready", she said. I never heard from her. However, I witnessed her checking in at least two other guests just fine. I returned to the desk a short while later when I noticed she stepped away, thinking to myself (this is my chance!). Another agent was able to check me right then. He was polite and genuinely excited about my stay. I did not catch the lady\'s name, but she worked the morning of 8/20/24. Everyone is entitled to a bad day; I get it. But as the agent, she was my first interaction at the property, setting the tone for my stay. I\'m friendly, polite, and soft-spoken. I did not deserve her attitude.

You oversold / overbooked my reservation, so I had to find new accommodations in between flights on my way into town by calling hotels directly. I paid more, it was stressful, the whole experience was a pain in the neck. I don't believe that I will ever use Expedia again.

I had a great time at Carpenter for a work trip. I loved my time there. I knocked off a star because I had to reach out for an inaccuracy on my bill. When you travel monthly for work it’s a bother to check back on missed details like this.

This was our second stay at the Carpenter. The location is walkable, and easy to get around to other areas of Austin. We liked sitting out on the patio in the room. The room service for coffee in the morning was very quick, as was the service at the pool. All the staff were friendly and helpful.

Unique Austin Hotel in the Barton Springs/Zilker Park area. Walkable to restaurants, local bars, sculpture garden, walking trail along Lady Bird Lake, Barton Springs and Zilker Park. Definitely recommend!

I chose to stay here overnight with family because of the reviews. The Carpenter Hotel did not disappoint! Outstanding customer service from parking attendant to front desk to the on-site restaurant and cafe. Extra large king bed was appreciated and the sofa/bed was comfortable according to my teen. Any requests were handled immediately. We heard dogs barking late night, but we think it was from the dog daycare next door to the hotel. Overall we loved our experience and would definitely stay again!

What a fun and funky hotel. My 13-year-old son LOVED the vibe, and we overall stayed. We ate at the restaurant at the hotel, and the meal was delicious. Definity a hotel I would stay at again!

The hotel was easy to find and located where we could easily visit all the places we wanted to go. The restaurant was amazing, and the rooms were comfortable, but the coffee shop was overcrowded. It would have been nice to take our laptops and sit with our morning coffee, but it was really crowded. The bar was a nice alternative, but we had our teenage son with us, and he wasn't comfortable with this option.

Our room was so cute and it was QUIET! It feels like you’re in a little hidden corner on this property. The only issue we had was with the next day room service. The door hanger said to hang it on your door before 11pm for the next morning room service. We had ours on there at 9:30pm and expected to wake up to breakfast by 8. The door hanger was still hanging on our door so I guess staff forgot to do their rounds to grab it. I mentioned it to the front desk and they said they’d let their staff know. We got Starbucks breakfast instead.

Love the style and ease of this place. Our room was comfortable, quiet with a comfy bed, and we loved having a table and chairs too. The pool area is pretty peaceful too. Ate breakfast every day in the coffee shop during our 4 days, high quality coffee drinks and multiple lunches and dinners in the restaurant. The wait staff is friendly and the food is very good, especially loved the hummus plate at lunch and the redfish entree and the cassoulet for dinner.
