Holiday Inn Kansas City - Downtown by IHG

We were in town meeting up with 2 of our kids for the weekend who attend Rockhurst and KU. We met in KC to see Nate Bargatze perform at The T-Mobile Center. The location of this hotel was perfect. We were able to take a short walk and get on the Main Street street car and ride it to the Power and Light District and also, Union Station. From those stops, we were able to walk just about anywhere. Because of the traffic and parking prices, we chose to walk to and from the T-Mobile Center and avoid all the after performance chaos. Our hotel room accommodated 5 adults with 2 queen beds and a pull-out. Don't expect a plush pull-out mattress ;) But that's never the case with a pull-out and we just needed a 5th sleeping spot. Other than that, it was plenty of space and comfort for everyone. I used the fitness center both mornings...clean, spacious, not crowded at all, and all the amenities I needed for my workouts. We ate breakfast on Saturday morning and it was delicious, something for everyone. It was quiet, but bright and cheery. We had happy hour in the bar Friday evening, and I spent some time in the lobby catching up on some work and it was a vibrant and comfortable space to set up. We could not be happier with our stay and will book at this Holiday Inn property again!!

The blinds in our room did not open and one of the locks on the door did not work. Food was not great -recommend eating out, not at hotel restaurant. The rest of the hotel was ok. Front desk and waitress/bartender were very nice. Was able to do laundry there, no charge for machines was a BIG PLUS.

Car was broke in to the night of our stay. We were made to park in the overflow parking lot that is evidently not manned 24/7. The vandalism was caught on a neighboring camera but hotel not covering the damage. 3 other vehicles were vandalized the same night in the same lot. Get it together and stand up for your customers!!

$20 to park across the street

No pool. Staff moderately friendly at best.

We had to pay $25 a day to park in the Hotel parking lot . We have never paid anything to park in the Hotel parking lot. The bartender Mitch was great , very friendly and helpful with information about KC .

The $25 parking charge was highway robbery! We will never stay there again. Vacationing families can’t afford to pay for these kind of charges and no parking charges were mentioned on the website! So enjoy bending me over with no vasoline!

Close enough to walk to t mobile center for concerts. Safe walk. But the WiFi didn’t work at the hotel and there was only one EV charger and it didn’t work either. We didn’t eat there but food looked good. All staff (front desk and bar) were super nice.

Nice, clean hotel. Area is industrial but it is a short walk to the river market. From there, you can catch the streetcar downtown. Hotel is updated. The breakfast is pretty minimal for $9.99 but the staff are amazing!

the breakfast was not worth $10.00....Iam spoiled with complmentary service....a bit disappointed having to pay for parking at 25.00 a night...

We have not stayed at Holiday Inn for years but were pleased with the modern remodel, layout of our room and hotel amenities. This hotel is close to downtown and the highway.

Right when you walk in you are smacked in the face with the most gawd awful sewer smell. It is all throughout the hotel. The front desk said, "yep, it's the sewer from the field next to the hotel" Like, what?! Horrible! I cannot imagine what it would smell like in the summer if we gagged each time we walked in and it was 4 degrees! I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS HOTEL, even to an emeny.

The room itself, staff at the bar/dining area! I wasnt Very please Of my stay, I paid Enough to not Get what I wanted. The air condition didnt work at all, The tub was clogged As me and my finance showered which is very nasty!!!! And there was 2 pillows thats Had Stains on them im not sure Exactly what it could of been But it was Brown Specs on the pillow Large amounts of it.. I didnt Take it to the front desk, Because they Was super busy & having a hard time With other Customers, I just will never stay there again or Recommend anyone too.. Also the lady that works the bar area/dining area is VERY RUDE!!!!!!!

Nice, up to date modern hotel. Clean, friendly staff. Easy access to and from Interstate.

Overall the stay was good, but we had blood on our sheets and comforter as if maybe the housekeeper may have cut herself before making the bed. So that was sort of a turn off other than that everything was good!

Beautiful lobby, clean, great breakfast buffet, comfortable beds, sweet cleaning staff and staff overall, 10+/10!

The staff was tremendous at the front desk, very friendly and helpful. We found a bunch of old French fries next to our bed that we had to clean up. Other than that, the room seemed clean.

It was great for a one day stay. Close to the places we needed to go and the highway. The only thing is the Wi-Fi was a lil spotty and the tv connection kept going in and out.

The room I was in faced the street and the parking lot where there were multiple lights shinning into the room. The shade was broken and would not lower. We had to use pillows to block out the light. Then the shower would not work. The water barely trickled out of the shower head and then slowed to nothing coming out. Also, the sink took about 20 minutes for the water to get hot. When I said something to the front desk they just told me they would comp my $25 parking and gave me attitude. When I suggested that they take note that the room needs maintenance for future guests I got more attitude. I spent way way too much money on a room with lights in my face and no shower.

Interstate traffic will wake you up

Our room was right next to the fire door to the staircase. I am a light sleeper and woke up several times to that door slamming. The water took several minutes to warm up for a shower, but the bathroom was spacious and the provided shampoos and soaps were nice. I was also charged for breakfast in the morning when my booking said 2 breakfasts were included and I thought I would only have to pay for my 3rd.

Tv didn’t work for the duration of my stay cable was out. Including the WiFi didn’t work.

You can't close the bathroom doors and they charged us more than the amount agreed upon with Expedia (not talking about the $100 hold that will drop or the $25 parking fee. Considerable, additional fees were tacked on without disclosure). And again, you can't close the bathroom doors. They slide and then do not connect to make contact with the wall or even come flush. There's one public restroom in the hotel with 2 stalls, and for which you need a code. Please note this is not walkable to the Power & Light district.

Room and lobby areas are very updated and nice. We had the double king room which was perfect for our group.

You either face the highway or the parking lot, with your window on the people walking to the entrance of the hotel. The lady who checked us in was very unpleasant and not helpful. The manger on duty was kind and accommodating. I wouldn’t say here again, it’s not in downtown and you have your sink in the room by the entrance. Too many things didn’t work for us.

Beautiful lobby and room, convenient location close to Bartle Hall for our volleyball tournament. Was sharing a room with friends, so would have liked a bathroom door that shuts instead of a sliding door with a gap. Wonderful helpful, friendly staff.

Amazing venue and amazing staff I want to give a BIG thanks to Isaac working the front desk. He answered any questions I had and was quick to handle any need we had ! Shout out to Isaac. Traveling from Texas we will be back !

Holiday Inn downtown Kansas City met every expectation for a great stay! Visited to go to a concert at T-Mobile, we were able to walk to the T-Mobile center, didn’t feel that it was sketchy at all, got there in about 12-14 minutes. I highly recommend anyone looking for a place to stay downtown, Would be the spot here! The staff were friendly, check-in was easy, overall experience, five stars all the way! This will indeed be my go to hotel anytime I’m in town Kansas City, Missouri. I also had an opportunity to speak with a rep from the front desk named Isaac, he was extremely helpful and courteous, and showed much empathy on the situation with the mixup of billing. He was an outstanding staff member and I highly accommodate him for such great service! Thank you, Isaac! Its employees like you that represent such great customer service!

Well I booked this hotel, abd ny husband booked a hotel...a sister company of yours. Once we realized the error, we called and tou refused to refund us. I am going to blast this all over social media...need everyone aware

As many people seem to overlook it in the hotel information, there is a parking fee which is common for hotels in a downtown area. It was convenient to grab a LYFT to go to the show at T-Mobile Center. If weather was better, we would have walked but we're used to needing situational awareness having lived in Memphis. For most, I wouldn't walk around at night in immediate area. It was nice food was available after the concert. Matt at the front desk was very helpful and he was always attending to the lobby. Mitch at the bar was friendly, gave great suggestions for activities in the area, and food/coffee recommendations. The beds were very comfortable! The hotel was clean and we appreciated they offer daily room services as some hotels have not resumed that service unless you ask. The only thing I did find ridiculous was breakfast. The policy on-line said if your rate includes breakfast, it includes breakfast for each adult. Instead, we got these coupons that could only be used on select items. We have an allergy and cannot have mammal products - beef, pork, lamb, dairy, etc. Most items on the coupon list were $12-13 and unfortunately items we couldn't eat. We asked if we could do 2 sides of turkey sausage and 1 plain toast which would be $9...and they said no. We didn't ask for anything extra and actually asked for something cheaper. It put a damper on an otherwise great experience with the hotel.

By the looks of the outside, I wasn’t expecting much, but it was absolutely beautiful inside. The bartender, kitchen and maids were amazing. Isaac, the First Gentleman who checked me in was amazing. The day we were to check out, my husband left before me around 8:30. He asked the front desk if they would allow us a late check out. He said they said they were ok with it. When I went down to eat breakfast @10:45, I stopped at the front desk just to be sure I could get a late checkout. The lady at the front said that she couldn’t do that and that she had already allowed too many. I explained that my husband had already asked, but she wouldn’t budge. So I had to rush upstairs, and pack quickly because they wouldn’t allow me any grace. I thought this was bad service. I also hated that they charged 25 dollars to park! Because my husband was meeting me from work we had to pay 50! I asked if they could extend some grace and allow us to only pay for one car, but again, no budging! I have never stayed the night in any hotel that didn’t allow a late checkout, and I have also never been in a hotel that didn’t extend some type of grace. I really wanted to write a good review, but it seems like this particular hotel is a little too rigid. From talking to Isaac, the first person who checked me in, he implied that they watch their employees closely. I understand this, but to the point where they can’t be better with their customers is ridiculous.

Friendly service

Me and members of my family have stayed here several times in the last few months. It’s is a very nice hotel and close to Children’s Mercy Kansas City. The front desk staff, Issac on my last check in was exceptional. I wish the world had more customer service skills as he did. He went above and beyond to fix and issues and that we were happy with the experience. We will be staying again for treatments from children’s and this will always be my first choice

Overall the stay was Great, but I tried calling the Front Desk 3 or 4 times to make a change to my reservation over a period of an Hour and nobody answered. Not only that…someone from IHG reservations also tried calling the Front Desk as did I and didn’t get an answer either which in my opinion is horrible Customer Service….but with that said and not to take away from the fact that this Hotel is Beautiful and the Staff is Great and our stay was Great and I would stay there again !!

We enjoyed our stay. The hotel was clean and modern. Wasn’t crazy about paying to park but I knew about it ahead of time. We walked to the T- Mobile center for a concert, the last 6 blocks or so was a little sketchy in the dark, but there was a lot of car traffic no other pedestrians.

Close to City Market and KC Current Stadium.

Staff was super friendly. Place was clean. Area around the place was run down enough we didn’t feel it safe to walk. Had to park the car in open lot for $25 a night and was grateful we didn’t broke into.

Paying to park was crazy since the lot was located on the property. Breakfast buffet was overpriced for the food.

My wife and I took a weekend get away and stayed 2 nights. The rooms were clean, nicely furnished. The staff from check-in to the restaurant/bar were always pleasant and ready to help. The food was good and the portions were ample. The on-site bar was nice, and well stocked. I would recommend this Hotel to anyone. Prices were not terrible!

Pros: The facility was pretty nice. When walking into the hotel it looked luxurious. The room was clean and had lots of space. Loved that the complimentary room items like soap and hand soap was full size Dove products. We ordered dinner from the restaurant. The restaurant had the best seasoned wings I ever had from a hotel. We were close to a lot of places. As we stayed approximately 10 minutes from places we visted. Even went into the state of Kansas to visit the mall which was 20 minutes away. Cons: Check in took a little longer than normal. Was not explained what happened. Paid $25.00 for outside lot parking. My granddaughter got trapped in the bathroom due to the slider being loose and door jammed and came off track. Maintenance did quickly come fix it. House keeping did not replace towels to arrival level even though we place all the dirty towels in the floor. Also, pillow cases were missing from bed. The view was horrible. The view was of an old building that seemed to be under construction as with the blinds open we were looking at a big dumpster because we were on the 2nd floor. Had to keep blinds closed. We uograded our reservation to include breakfast by $100 for 2 people. We received 4 vouchers but breakfast was $9.99 a person. Minus well had paid thru the hotel.
