Stayed 2 nights

I had a pleasant experience and the location is phenomenal but my experience could have been better. So we arrive and it is a valet only hotel! Which is fine, but I didn’t have cash to tip the guy. So if you decide to stay here and you drove have cash for the valet upon arrival. We checked in and they slammed us with a parking fee of $27 a day and to access your car they valet back to you. You can park it at Publix or by the beach during the day but at night they will valet it for you. The free breakfast was not worth the hidden fees and additional expenses . I could have easily stayed at the holiday inn across the street and be cheaper . But it’s a clean and quiet hotel in a great location. My husband could not get over the surprise parking fee and additional cash expense of the valet tips.

When went to hotel desk to ask why Pit Bulls allowed in the hotel - the two at the desk dismissed me as if it were nothing more than a poodle, "we let dogs in the hotel"... not sure what worse - being dismissed to point of disrespect or the fact that a large Pit Bull clearly an aggressive one at the allowed to stay in hotel as if that normal ?? I own apartment and we clearly have breeds unwelcome on the property for insurance reasons as well as common sensical ones!!!! Otherwise selling this place as a hotel - when not a full service but that the average for St Augustine, "nice motel" - with exceptional dining and bar staff in the evening, and why chose to stay here at all...!!

Check-in was very smooth and easy. Valet staff were prepared and well maintained. QR code system worked well to give valet time to pull vehicle to claim. Michaels restaurant was staffed and service was perfect. Michael, our server was excellent at making suggestions from the menu. Food was cooked perfectly and also presented the same. Room was spacious; bed was comfortable and the view was superb. 1 minor flaw that we find in many hotels is the bathroom sink. The faucet is set too far back as where the water runs all over the counter and needs to be constantly wiped down. Face cloths and hand towels are needed constantly. The breakfast included was not appropriate for the cost of the room and left very little for taste and thought. Suggest better selection and variety of pastries; the only choice tiny mini-muffin was insulting. Multiple Coffee stations available were perfect for a no-wait to get your caffeine fix in a hurry. Even with the few minor flaws, I can easily give this hotel a 5 out of 5 stars.
