Loved the location. The room was clean and neat and was serviced daily. I was able to secure a car park for free at the venue. Able to walk to restaurants and cafes, plenty to choose from. I would highly recommend it for anyone who wants a great location at a low cost accommodation fee.

Booked two queen beds but the room was one queen one single and a fold out sofa. It was fine for what we paid, it was the cheapest room and did the job, all the necessities. Its a bit loud in the hall way though doesnt block out sound. Good location for us. Theres a parking right next door but its not the hotel parking, we mistakenly parked there and got slugged with a call out fee cause the parking closes 2am sunday. Just make sure you follow the instructions to park at the hotels parking.

The hotel is in a fantastic location for eating out, walking outside brings you immediately to a large array of restaurants, cafes and bars . This feature alone makes up for the very average accommodation which I would describe as basic yet functional. Unfortunately our room wasn’t particularly clean as the bathroom had worn in grime on tiles and obvious body hairs that was missed due initial clean.

The young man at the desk was very polite. This property is in prime position in Lygon Street. BUT…. The place needs a good clean, on the surface it looks clean but don’t look too close. The door to our room needed a good wipe down, entering the room your senses are offended by the smell of stale cigarette smoke. The shower head wouldn’t stay up and the top of it was filthy. The kitchen bench had a chunk missing out of it, definitely should not pass health inspection. The balcony was dirty and needed a good sweep. The hallway carpet needed a good vacuum and tiles a good mop. Such a shame that this Hotel has not or is not maintained, as it has great potential. And just needs a good deep clean.

Staff were great, we were in the room overlooking the street and we found it too noisy from the live music in the restaurant nest door and too many cars with loud exhaust systems. And motorcycles. The hotel was convenient for our needs, short walk to trams. It also would have been nice to have clothes storage so we had to live out of our luggage bags for our six night stay.

I had a Lygon Street facing room. The room itself is big and has a kitchen, and everything you need. But the noise from Lygon street is loud. Plus there is a restaurant/bar undernearth that was playing loud live music until 11:30 pm on a Monday night... So, not ideal if youre after an early nights sleep. I normally dont mind noise, but this was a little much for even me. The reception area is pretty small and underwhelming. The property itself is getting pretty tired. The staff were very friendly, and the location is great if you like lots of eating choices. You can partk across the road near the park for free from 6:30pm until 7:30 am. Otherwise parking options are expensive everywhere nearbye. The property was fine. Nothing terrible, just not particularly amazing either.

Room was clean, comfortable, and quiet despite being on busy Lygon St. North facing room made all the difference in Melbourne mid-winter. As a past resident of North Carlton, I would highly recommend this property. Service was friendly and efficient. Slight delay in check in due to my room not being ready for my check in time (2pm). Parts of the carpet in my room were poorly laid leading to concrete flooring underneath the carpet being visible. At the end of the day my stay was extremely pleasant. Public transport hubs are in very close proximity. With lots of dining options all in very close proximity.

In a city where over-priced accommodation is the norm, the Carlton Lygon Lodge represents excellent value for money. From my check-in until departure the staff were incredibly helpful. The room was a generous size and impeccably clean. And the bed was incredibly comfortable! I will be back.
