Golf Place Inn Wollongong

We came here to enjoy my dog's 15th birthday. Nice , spacious, clean, pet friendly room on the ground floor made it easy to take my dog outside to potty. Very quiet , relaxing, with a nice nature view and the golf course from the window. Friendly staff. We had the pool to ourselves, as it was quiet. Pool , bbq area , and pool area was clean and tidy . It was our 1st time staying here . Thank you for an enjoyable, hassle free stay !

Really happy with the accomodation and the staff were absolutely lovely. Only negative is that I couldn’t park my car near our room as there is a hight restriction which my car was to high for so we had to park away from the room

The beds and pillows were very comfortable We had our dog so it was great that we could have our holiday with him. Clean, comfortable, premises, great view of the golf course, everything you need. All staff were very friendly and helpful.

Motel staff very friendly and called to confirm our booking. WOTIF sent email to pick up keys/check in from sister motel down the road(old information from COVID days). Property is advertised as having a restaurant and bar (closed), tennis court is used as a clothesline. 2nd pool looks like it is abandoned building material’s everywhere. Room has been renovated but the cleanliness could have been better, floors swepped and mopped and spider webs removed. General appearance of motel grounds also let it down. For the price you pay for a night was disappointed. Positive note has great potential to be a nice place to stay.

room was in good condiyion , and was very clean. outside was pretty run down ( at the last block of rooms at least needing repairs nadly. especially the pool ! already hot weather ,nut the pool was empty of water , alot of dried sl8me on bottom , such a shame would of loved a swim

Basic room but is all you need if you are just after somewhere to sleep. Beds were good, bathroom quite dated. Pool was green so glad we weren’t relying on that for the kids. Overall staff were welcoming and helpful and room was fine.

I found the accommodation excellent but the pool was dirty and needed a good clean. The bedroom was perfect, great shower, comfy bed and clean. The views of the golf course were amazing.

Great rooms for a pet friendly stay. The lady at reception was more than welcoming and gave great recommendations for local places to eat with the dogs. Not much that is walkable in the general area but a short drive gets you to some beautiful places and a dog friendly beach.

Currently requesting a FULL refund. Reception staff are lovely but are unauthorised to complete anything that is required within the inn. Room wasn’t cleaned before arriving, a service was requested was missed on the second night. No hot water for showering. Both pools were unavailable for use. No restaurant or bar as advertised. On arrival the place actually resembles a government emergency housing facility for those in domestic violent situations. Unless you are fluent in Mandarin, my hot tip is to stay elsewhere.

The location wasn't too bed as it is halfway between Wollongong and Kiama (therefore the reason of 1-2 star. Cleanliness: see photo: cockroaches in bedroom / bed, vomit or food or something on curtains, dusty carpet with bits of unknow matter on floor, it has dishes & cutlery but the only sink available is the one in the toilet (does the owner wash its on pots and dishes in their bathroom at home?). If u allow animals to stay, u need to make sure u DEEPLY CLEAN THE ROOM WHEN CLIENT/ANIMAL LEAVE! I was there for 2 nights. After the 1st night, I went to reception to report cockroaches and the lady said she would have asked to housekeeping to do a deep clean. When the next day I checked the wardrobe to make sure I didn't left anything behind me, I found a bunch of towels with what looked to be animal feces stains in it. (DEEP CLEAN?). Reported again to reception before departure and only apologies were offered with no partial refunds/vouchers offered at all. The place could have some potential but u need to start to do some proper cleaning first. Dear owner, go to other motels/hotels and see how clean they are and bring those standards into your hotel please.

Sadly the property needs upgrades, things were broken, very unclean common areas, unkempt gardens, tired old buildings! The bed was very comfortable but otherwise it was a disappointment. The pet friendly rooms were located upstairs with metal open staircase which most dogs were terrified of. Definitely not worth the money charged even if cheapest in the Illawarra as mentioned by staff. This is a harsh review but a fair assessment of the property. The receptionist was very kind, polite and very understanding when I spoke to her about the property and did mention she would pass feedback onto her supervisor.

I booked a pet friendly room, only on arrival to be told there is an addiction $30 undisclosed pet cleaning free. If i knew this i wiuld not have brought my pet. We were then given a room that post mopping had a flim of stiky left on the tiles for the two days. The air vents in the bathroom had not been cleaned in years. We were unable to open the windies for natural fresh air as they were covered in dust and spider webs, including egg sacks. We were placed in a room next to a permanent resident who sat outside and smoked at all times of the day, including at 6am. We awoke each moring to our bathroom being filled with second hand cigarettes smoke. It internet did not work at all. We had no service and the TV did not have free to air TV.

Fluff and hair on furnishings, shower mouldy. Toilet water ran constantly. Shower water temperature not consistent warm scolding cold warm. Curtains didn’t cover windows enough to keep outside lights from shining into room. Over priced for what it was, just a bed with fresh linen and towels.

Nice location. Handy distance to Warrawong shopping centre and Lake Illawarra Reddall Reserve playground was awesome and only short distance away. Found beds and pillows to be comfy but thought the whole place could do with a really good clean. Our bathroom was particularly grubby with hair and stuff still in bathtub on arrival plus purple shampoo marks. Bed linen seems old and not fresh white. Room had been renovated but roughly completed.

The rooms are very spacey and beds are comfy. Rooms look tired and we had towels that had hair on them. Didn’t use the pool as some of the blue paint has come off and so the water looks dirty. Nice bbq area for meals. Wasn’t advised housekeeping needed to be requested so we came back late in the evening and had no fresh towels and no housekeeping. Called after hours service and was given towels. Rooms can do with some touch ups. Staff were very friendly though but don’t think we will stay again unfortunately.

The property was FILTHY! The toilet hadn’t even been flushed from the last guest! The floors were absolutely putrid. I rang the reception and they told me that they would contact the cleaner… and that was it! I wouldn’t recommend staying here!

The room was very noisy with passing traffic and rooms around doors kept banging all night each night. Very small room not as advertised. Cost was excessive for what I got,

Website and email told me to check in at Lakeside but that info was wrong - you can check in at the Golf Place. Room was functional with a fridge,kettle and toaster but no sink other than in the bathroom. Couple of cockroaches but normal for Australia. Stayed 6 nights and housekeepers came once only over the Christmas period. Internet was weak with repeated dropouts from our room. Did not eat in the restaurant. No bar but you can get a beer in the golf pro shop just next door - the golf club and hotel are not related just adjacent. Bed was comfortable and air conditioning good. Bathroom clean with loads of hot water.

A very basic motel set up, and the property is very old and tired, although the rooms are clean and tidy. No major problems but the value for money is poor as it really should be half the price we paid for the level of accommodation provide.

Ambience is good but the amenities were not as listed as in the booking site. Internet access is limited and very poor connectivity. It's very expensive for the location and facilities provided

Location was good, staff were very helpful. Pool was small and our two bedroom apartment room was next to highway which was noisy.

Honestly this would be full stars only thing that drops it is my struggle with the wifi and staying connected to it but it's beautiful spacious the bed is a 10/10 amazing TV the cost of the room can't be beat only thing is the wifi and I was in the best room for WiFi but full stars across the bored other than that

We never stayed at the Golf Place Inn. Several phone calls from Jasmine and another lady saying the disability room we booked was not available and asked us to accept a similar room at the Lakeside lnn I felt the whole process was unsatisfactory and unprofessional

Nice staff, quiet, overall good value for money.

No where to eat. Reception not manned all the time.

The management of my stay was poor. I was given a wrong room for my booking and the door locked out at night and the emergency number was unanswered multiple times and my call never returned. The night workers were busy talking and took a long time to answer my phone.

Do not go to this place if you are a foreigner they do not let you in after 630 and without a aus Phone number they just steal your deposit and you as the traveler have to sleep/book somewhere else. Save the money go somewhere else!

BEWARE: Booking made well in advance for a Saturday night. I received email re-confirmation of our booking on the Thursday and again on the morning of the Saturday. Following this I called the property on Saturday morning to advise that we would be arriving after 7pm, and was told that I would be sent details of how to check-in prior to 7pm. When I had not received this information by 5pm, I made a call to the property, and was told that my reservation couldn't be found and they would call me back. After waiting 1 hour for someone to call me back, I called again and was told my reservation had been cancelled and if I could 'prove' that it wasn't me, there was a 'back-up' room available. Having to interrupt my weekend to take time to find details of my booking I then to had to call the property 7 times to receive an answer, send 2 text messages proving that my booking had not been cancelled and finally get through to somebody who was suddenly able to 'find' my booking again. This wasted hours of my time for something that should have taken seconds. I was told there would be a bottle of wine provided to apologise for the inconvenience, but of course no such bottle was provided. The 'back-up' room that we were moved to happened to be next to a party that went until 3am the next morning, ruining a second day of our trip after they had already ruined the first. Messages sent to the manager afterwards advising about the above situation have gone unanswered. They don't care.

I happened to lock my key in the room after going to fetch dinner and when i returned realised i had no key this was 1815 and reception is supposing opened to 700pm but was closed and tried to get ahold of after hours end up sleeping in the car over night

Very good choice for a stay in Wollongong, with a picturesque golf course right outside your room and services nearby. I recommended this place.

I LOVE THE WALKS THROUGH THE GOLF COURSE AT DUSK AFTER THE GOLFERS HAVE GONE HOME ITS BEAUTIFUL WITH PONDS AND CREEKS AND LITTLE BRIDGES AND THE BIRDLIFE - SO SERENE. ALSO GREAT CYCLING/WALKS ON THE NEARBY TRAILS INCLUDING BUSHLAND ALONG THE BEACH AND ALSO ALONG LAKE ILLAWARRA OPPOSITE THE HOTEL .

Off the main road but very quiet, neat room with good facilities

Great budget spot near Wollongong. Short drive to the beach. Friendly staff. Cheap and cheerful. Will definitely be staying again.

The property is too far away from Main Street to access goods and services on foot which could appeal to some visitors due to being a quieter setting. The pool was green (Feb 2023) and I was told that a service person was coming, however, the depth of green indicated they may have been waiting sometime for said service person. A lovely golf course view directly out the window tarnished by the 6 am lawn mowing also just outside the window. Plenty of space in the room. No freezer box in bar fridge which was disappointing as I was travelling due to sporting event and I couldn’t keep first aid ice pack frozen. The room I was assigned had a bathroom equipped for disability access - shower chair, rails etc. Not sure if all rooms were like this but this room would be ideal for traveler’s requiring this type of infrastructure.

Lounge was uncomfortable and not very clean. The screen door fell off and the front door had to be slammed to close it. The motel appeared to be a little run down and needs rejuvenation. In a good location though, close to shops , beach and lake.

I like overall. Breakfast was amazing. But sadly bins were exactly outside the property and they were stinking rotten .
