Reception staff was very nice and had great suggestions about places to see ,eat etc Room was good size and clean Parking is on premises 12 euros per day ( gated) Hotel has gates that open by the code, convenient,safe and walkable everywhere . Loved the garden and patio chairs everywhere .Hotel was combo of modern and unique old style Breakfast was lovely and had fancy area where buffet style was served .Breakfast host was lovely and kind to explain about traditional desserts they had on menu . He event went extra mile to save me one of traditional desserts on my day 2 . I thought breakfast area felt like I went for high tea every day , absolutely amazing

Room was beautiful! Staff was lovely! Breakfast was very nice, lots of option and an amazing room. The onsite restaurant seemed good and they accommodated us inspite of having an event but the next day they couldn’t serve us due to staff shortage. Unfortunate. The only downside is there is no elevator and no bellman so dragging bags up several flights of stairs was not fun. On the way out one of the staff helped out which was appreciated! We would come back and ask for a ground floor or lower room.

We got Grande suite which we did not think we had booked. Huge terrace but unfortunately was very windy so unable to sit on it. Breakfast was perfectly adequate with quite a good selection. It was quite cramped near food area so should extend this area. No lift so it was quite a hike to 3rd floor and as we were going on a cruise we had 2 big suitcases. Not great area but not too far to get into busy area.

Breakfast was good. We liked the safety of gated parking. It was quite a walk to the waterfront. Hotel rooms were generous in size and comfortable.

The only problem we had were the steps up to our room as there was no lift otherwise everything was excellent. The staff were very helpful and friendly.

An outstanding property, lovely buildings all tiled in blue & white with lovely gardens & seating areas. Room was lg with views of the property. Gated parking and great breakfasts. Possibility of happy hr in the garden. Not situated in a great area for shopping & nice restaurants.

Fint och trevligt hotell i centrala Porto. Perfekt läge om du anländer med bil. Bra parkering innanför låst grind. Hotellet är som ett litet slott. Mycket bra frukost. Ingen hiss så en del trappor att gå. Mycket trevlig personal.

The location is magnificent with a fantastic garden, spectacular vintage main building (where you get breakfast), and very nice rooms. The hotel is 25 minutes walk from the river. The breakfast is really good both in terms of food quality and especially the rooms. The staff is helpful and nice. The garden is fantastic, lots of shade areas to enjoy the evening without overheating. The only issue is the parking space because it's a narrow lane and if cars are already parked at both sides you'll have a hard time parallel parking, and especially getting out. I didn't use the car at all during my stay, and luckily when I checked out every other guest took their car so I had space to maneuver.

We stayed three nights in this classy hotel. It was a very special stay in a magnificent castle. The premises are kept meticulously clean and are just beautiful. All the furnishings were just beautiful. The bedroom was spacious and beautifully appointed and the bathroom was beautiful, all in marble, and very clean. You need to pull into a relatively narrow gated area and then press a button and they will open the gate for you to get in. We overshot the first time, because it was not easy to find. The location is very good. You walk all the way downhill towards the centre, the market and the Ribeiro area in approximately 20 minutes. Restaurants and shopping is nearby, so is public transport. There is a Metro station not too far away and for convenience. There are a few abandoned properties in the area which look sketchy at night, but that doesn’t take away from the area in my opinion.The staff at reception was friendly and helpful. The staff at breakfast was also super kind and accommodating. The only thing is that you have to carry your luggage up a few flights of stairs, as there is no elevator in the hotel itself (only to get from parking to reception).Breakfast fast plentiful and healthy with a great selection overall. They had an amazing selection of sweet pastries. We loved our stay at this hotel and can highly recommend it due to its spectacular ambiance. We would definitely return and stay here again.

We stayed for 4 nights at Castelo Santa Catarina. The hotel has an unusual, quirky, look to it that attracted our attention when we booked it. From the check-in to check-out, all staff were polite, friendly and obliging. My wife celebrated her birthday during our stay and at breakfast that day, the catering team brought out a birthday cake and sang Happy Birthday, which was very nice. Our accommodation was clean, spacious and very comfortable. The buffet style breakfast, included in the price, was plentiful with lots of choice. The hotel is situated centrally and it's easy to walk 10 to 15 minutes and be outside Sao Bento station and the centre of the city. The subway station Marques, which we didn't use, is a 5 minute walk away. The only issues that detracted from our stay were the dirty, smelly bins located directly outside the hotel entrance and the night we came back and found a stain on the bed sheets that has just been changed by the house keeping staff. While clean linen was readily provided, my wife and I ended up having to re-make the bed ourselves, which is not what we expected. However, overall, we enjoyed our stay and will return the next time we're in Porto.

Just back from a 4 night stay. Can't fault Catarina, spotlessly clean, amazing staff that can't do enough for you and full of local information. Breakfast is amazing with lots of choice. Would definitely stay again

My partner and I stayed in one of the newer garden front rooms for 5 nights and enjoyed every minute. The hospitality was wonderful, the rooms were quiet and quite spacious. It rained most days so an umbrella was put outside our door for our walk to breakfast. The bathroom was clean with beautiful shower pressure. We enjoyed a good breakfast every morning with nice variety of hot and cold. I didn’t really like the coffee machine but was able to pick a coffee to suit my taste. The accommodation was not too far from the city centre and we walked it each day. Turn left for 2 minute walk fruit and veges and laundromat(7€ for wash and dry). Turn right for city centre and all sites. We loved our stay here and very happy for our stay.

Its a unique stay to be in an old castle and the decor is nice. To be able to park in the middle of Porto for 12eu is great. The breakfast is good. The staff during the day was very helpful. The night staff was a bit condescending (I suspect it is a language barrier). Somewhere very close by played really loud music until around 11pm. That said, I would still go back for the price I paid.

Never have I ever stayed in a castle before. Very unique room in the castle tower. Period details galore but also with modern finishes. Hosts were very nice and any communication with them was fast and courteous. Would have loved to have a small fridge in room but...I will say the bed was a bit too hard for my liking and pillows not firm enough. Clean, clean and clean. Just a short walk to the main part of city

Although this property was a 25 mins walk from the main attractions, it was easy to park here which was one of the reasons why we chose it. We were in a more modern room that was not located in the main castle and the room was quite spacious and clean. The big negative about this property for me though was how uncomfortable the bed was and this was the reason for my 6/10 rating. It felt like there was no padding between me and the springs in the mattress. I have never slept on such a terrible mattress in my life. The only reason I was able to tolerate staying here for the 2nd night was that I found a thick blanket in the closet which I folded and placed between the mattress and the bed sheet. Honestly, I was surprised that such a nice hotel had not invested in better mattresses. They should at least add a memory foam mattress topper. I would not stay in this hotel again unless I knew they had fixed the mattress issue.

キャッスルの方に宿泊しました。全体的に古いですが、雰囲気のあるホテルです。 不便だったのはエレベーターがない事。荷物の上げ下ろしはスタッフの方にお願いしました。皆さん快く対応していただけました。それとシャワーが出にくかった事。 割と坂の上にあるので、行きは歩きで大抵行けますが、帰りは疲労もありuberを使用しました。 雰囲気のあるホテルで観光にも便利だと思います。朝食は種類が多く楽しかったです。

The variety of options was very impressive. Everything I ate was delicious, and the property itself is gorgeous to start with and very well maintained. The staff was helpful, and the location just a few blocks from the Marques station was ideal. The room I was in had an expansive view of Porto, and I hope to return for a visit, as I had booked too few nights to really see and enjoy the city.

Lovely site and building and furnishings. But given a room about 6.5 sq m in size which was tiny, claustrophobics and we had to leave as quickly as possible. The hotel were charming and refunded our down payment after the one night we had to stay as we could find nowhere else at such short notice. No small hotel accessories such as water, tissues.

Its a unique stay to be in an old castle and the decor is nice. To be able to park in the middle of Porto for 12eu is great. The breakfast is good. The staff during the day was very helpful. The night staff was a bit condescending (I suspect it is a language barrier). Somewhere very close by played really loud music until around 11pm. That said, I would still go back for the price I paid.

This property was amazing in that it was vast with lots of gorgeous grounds and outdoor seating. There was even an orange orchard. The breakfasts were more than adequate and breakfast staff very helpful. The owner showed us the chapel on the ground and gave us a history of the property. The buildings and the ceramics were delightful. The locked gate was extra security. The front office staff were more than helpful with ideas. They even had umbrellas at our door when it was raining. The refrigerated our wine and provided ice which they delivered to our room. We got to know other travellers at breakfast.

The onsite restaurant seemed good and they accommodated us inspite of having an event but the next day they couldn’t serve us due to staff shortage. Unfortunate. The only downside is there is no elevator and no bellman so dragging bags up several flights of stairs was not fun. On the way out one of the staff helped out which was appreciated! We would come back and ask for a ground floor or lower room.

We stayed for 4 nights at Castelo Santa Catarina. The hotel has an unusual, quirky, look to it that attracted our attention when we booked it. From the check-in to check-out, all staff were polite, friendly and obliging. My wife celebrated her birthday during our stay and at breakfast that day, the catering team brought out a birthday cake and sang Happy Birthday, which was very nice. Our accommodation was clean, spacious and very comfortable. The buffet style breakfast, included in the price, was plentiful with lots of choice. The hotel is situated centrally and it's easy to walk 10 to 15 minutes and be outside Sao Bento station and the centre of the city. The subway station Marques, which we didn't use, is a 5 minute walk away. The only issues that detracted from our stay were the dirty, smelly bins located directly outside the hotel entrance and the night we came back and found a stain on the bed sheets that has just been changed by the house keeping staff. While clean linen was readily provided, my wife and I ended up having to re-make the bed ourselves, which is not what we expected. However, overall, we enjoyed our stay and will return the next time we're in Porto.

By far the best hotel we stayed in our European vacation. Pedro at reception was very friendly and helpful and provided a lot of info for the hotel and area. Breakfast dinning room was so fancy, glamorous and beautiful. Rooms were very modern and new and also very spacious, we really felt we were in a castle, we all were very happy we finished our vacation in this hotel and in style.
By far the best hotel we stayed in our European vacation. Pedro at reception was very friendly and helpful and provided a lot of info for the hotel and area. The hotel is a walking distance to the centre. The staff are super friendly and provide outstanding service. They gave us good tips and recommendations for Porto. This hotel is a stunning oasis in a fairly gritty section of Porto. We came up the street looking for the hotel and could not believe that it could possibly be on that street after the pictures we had seen online, but it is as beautiful in person as it is shown. Our room was big and bright with a beautiful bathroom. The breakfast room is absolutely gorgeous and the breakfast was substantial. The staff was terrific and very helpful. While we did not care for the neighborhood much and they were very limited restaurants, but it was only a five minute walk to a metro. Even though the neighborhood was not desirable would still highly recommend this hotel due to its beauty and excellent breakfast.

The location is magnificent with a fantastic garden, spectacular vintage main building (where you get breakfast), and very nice rooms. The hotel is 25 minutes walk from the river. The breakfast is really good both in terms of food quality and especially the rooms. The staff is helpful and nice. The garden is fantastic, lots of shade areas to enjoy the evening without overheating. The only issue is the parking space because it's a narrow lane and if cars are already parked at both sides you'll have a hard time parallel parking, and especially getting out. I didn't use the car at all during my stay, and luckily when I checked out every other guest took their car so I had space to maneuver.

The Castelo Santa Caterina is a truly unique and comfortable piece of Porto history that is worth considering for your Porto visit. The castle retains its original historical charm from the period decorations to the furniture. The rooms are tastefully decorated with a modern bathroom and comfortable bed. The service is exceptional and the complimentary breakfast is delicious. I would stay there again and recommend it to others.

This was such a beautiful property with most of the rooms in buildings surrounding a large castle like main building. Given that we were in an urban area, our room was totally quiet which was great . The main building where breakfast was served was gorgeously decorated and made the breakfast that much more special. While the hotel location is slightly away from the main tourist areas, it was very walkable for us to get to areas with more shopping and restaurants and tourist attractions We really loved our stay at this hotel and would recommend it to anyone staying in Porto.

If you want to live in atmosphere of late 19th century chose the castle tower. They have suots on the low level, but they are ordinary. Service and front desk is wonderful. The breakfast is average and almost the same every day with limited veriety, not exiting but ok. Parkin is $12 a day.

Loved staying in this hotel and want to return it had so much character. Ideally located for exploring Porto. All of the staff were lovely, especially Jorge on reception. Our room was modern, very clean with good Aircon. Breakfast was amazing, would highly recommend

It is a lovely old property. The bedrooms are quite small & a wee bit worn but had a comfortable bed with beautiful linens. The bathroom looked newer. Very ornate marble with a good shower. Parking in the grounds was a bonus. The small bar was nice for drinks & snacks. Its in a good location to walk down to the buzz but a steep hill on the way back

Breathtaking property! The tiles are so pretty and the gardens. Room was clean and simple. Not over the top fancy. Easy parking. The hotel is a short walk from lots of sights. We had to leave very early and they made us a package of breakfast to go ! Exceptional service.

We loved our stay at this castle. Both the exterior and interior design were unique, with blue and white tiled walls typical of Porto. The rooms were well kept and very clean. Staff were helpful and gave us great tips on where to go on our last day. We didn’t have time for breakfast in the morning, but they arranged breakfast to go for us. Wish we had stayed longer!

Lovely old but modern hotel, great surroundings, easy 15/20 minutes walk to the center. Highly recommend using Uber to return because it’s uphill and it’s usually four euros. Worth it I recommend the property.
