The property served as a conveniently located hotel to serve as a base to explore the southwestern Iceland area. The breakfast was hearty and was a great way to start a day of activities. The only downside was that the sauna needed some repairs on the benches and the hot tubs weren't hot.

Asked for room upgrade was told not available. Hotel did not look full. Offered free drink, then told wrong drink ordered & had to pay. Room was outside of main hotel in add on units. Beds were OK, small fridge and sink, bathroom very small. Restaurant food good, very limited choices. Hot tub and sauna nice. very nice sitting areas throughout the hotel, probably to view the northern lights. Gym nice. Short drive to most places in the area.

Very clean—hot tub and saunas were a fantastic addition. The Caesar salad in the bistro was surprisingly one of my favorite meals during the trip.

Really great place with friendly people!! Disappointed that the hot tubes were broken and so was one sauna (out of 2) because we had looked forward to sitting outside ans relaxing.

Great breakfast, clean rooms. The little northern lines hallway would be super cute in the winter. Gym looked good (didn’t use it haha) but saunas and hot tubs were nice added touch. Lots of free parking.

The hotel is just off the Ring Road which made it convenient as a stopping point. The included breakfast was lovely in that it had both hot and cold options with alot of fruits. Most of the hotels that I had rented in Iceland only had the cold option. The included walkway to view the northern lights was nice and toasty but the hallway lights stayed on all night so you would have to actually step outside to view the northern lights then duck back inside for warmth. Will definitely recommend coming back to stay in this hotel if I ever come back to Iceland

We were only at Stracta for one night. We checked in the evening. After a day of hiking we came in to find that our room was still in a used state from the previous occupants. When we notified the reception the lady who came in initially made it sound like we were lying because we wanted a room upgrade. They did then clean the room and offered us complimentary drinks - but was not impressed with the customer care or the cleanliness. The hotel was overcrowded and unsure if there was sufficient staff to suport. Tge brrakfast spread the next morning was good.

The hotel was very clean and the breakfast was excellent. The fan in our bathroom would not turn off and upon raising this to staff, there wasn’t much action. One of the hot tubs was lukewarm and the other was slightly better but not by much. The hot tubs need to be cleaned - there were insects and debris in them. The photos of the hotel should better reflect the odd layout of the hotel and modular nature of it. The sound proofing in rooms is very poor. Our bed was on the wall adjacent to the hallway and could clearly hear footsteps, voices, rolling suitcases, etc. Some landscaping between the wings of the hotel would go a long ways to improving the view out the window.

Overall, we had a good nights sleep and a hearty breakfast in the morning - those were our highlights! The first room we were in was not clean enough - there was mold around the bathroom floor and windows. They accommodated our request to move and the second room was better. The saunas were not working when we visited, which was disappointing. It was a convenient place to stay on our trip through the south coast. The bed was clean and comfortable and it was quiet!

We had a beautiful room which was a suite with private hot tub. My review reflects the overall condition of property which is tired. For example, stairs leading to upstairs dining room had loose and broken tiles… hazardous. The towels and robes in room are all frayed and really need replacing. The beautiful greenhouse really needed love. Lots of little minor repairs needed. Otherwise, nice hotel, inexperienced waitstaff and front desk help trying hardest.

Eg måtte ved eit par anledningar be betjeningen etterfylle koppar og juice. Oppskåre brød vart det fort tomt for og med det lang kø for å få skåre eige brød. Det tok lang tid før betjeningen oppdaga dette og gjorde noko med det. Men betjeninga var hyggeleg både i resepsjon, bar og spisesal.

This place was just OK. We had to change rooms as the bed was sagging multiple inches on one side. Thankfully they had another room. On that one we could hear the plumbing in the adjacent room. Others we travelled with had a sagging floor in their room. Food at the restaurant was good, not great

If you stay at Stracta make sure to book the room with the private hot tubs. This made a huge difference after a couple long days of hiking! The room was very large with an in unit kitchenette. Everything was in great condition and clean. The breakfast buffet had a great spread with a waffle maker as well. Bar is open until late. The restaurant was not bad but after a long day of traveling it’s nice to have a place to eat. Overall, would definitely stay here again!

The basic rooms are just that very basic with a minimum of conveniences. . At that price, I would have expected either a larger room or room was even a towel rack in the bathroom to hold towels. Small things like that make all the difference.

This hotel was a very pleasant surprise on our trip. We had weather issues with our flight and got there very late. Contacted the hotel and they were quick to respond and super accommodating about it. Hotel is very nice. Our room was clean and well appointed. Staff was great from start to finish. We stayed in 8 hotels during our trip and Stracta had the best breakfast buffet of them all. Definitely recommend this hotel.

Booked this hotel after seeing good reviews. That was not our experience, however. Immediately felt unwelcome upon arrival, as the lady in reception seemed annoyed to check us in, but we all have bad days sometimes so just figured that was the case here. We needed to ask about towels for the hot tub a little while later and were met with the same unwelcoming attitude like we were annoying her for asking a simple question. The beds were very uncomfortable, having a hard perimeter that made it difficult to sleep on. Only one small trash bin in bathroom and none in room. Room was clean, so that's a positive. Would not stay here again or recommend.

We had a lovely 4 night stay at Stracta, the reception staff were very friendly, the room was very clean and the hotel was easy to navigate and find the way around. Easy to find parking too. Beautiful view around, however because we were on the ground floor we didn't see much outside our window. We only had a couple of downsides to the stay, the Bistro service was very slow and the waiting staff didn't seem very helpful in most cases (waiter forgot our order twice), however the Lamb Shank we had was really lovely. Additionally the buffet at breakfast time never seemed to have juice available in two machines, though the breakfast was lovely. We did use the buffet for dinner one evening but was a bit dissapointed with the food there.

Love our stay. Perfect location for those who are taking a bus to do the Laugavegur trail or hikes in the area. The bus station is crossing the street. The breakfast was great (I take breakfast seriously 😊). Confortable room and great amenities.

Nice location perfect for a one night stay either after or before doing the golden circle and close to Seljalandfoss & Skogafoss. Friendly staff. Restaurant on site adding to convenience. Clean and quiet room with comfortable beds. Very good buffet breakfast.

This hotel is a great stop along the ring road. We stayed here our last night before leaving and it was perfect. Close to a lot of sights. It has a bistro in it and a lot of great amenities!

This hotel was lovely. The room was very clean. The continental breakfast was good and was open for about 4 hours. Great location for seeing many waterfalls, black sand beach and Vik (all 30 min - 1 hour away). The restaurant was decent, though we did kind of get forgotten about by our waiter and the food took a while. Not sure if it was a particularly busy night so maybe that’s not a common occurrence. But it is very convenient to have the restaurant in the hotel. Across the street is a gas station, grocery store, bakery and a few other things which was also convenient to have. We were able to see the northern lights right from the hotel one night! Overall, excellent experience, I would stay here again and will definitely recommend to anyone looking for something outside the city!

First off, i want to highlight that the staff is extremely kind, the location is great, and i probably could find more nice things to say about Stracta hotel. However, i simply do not understand how this is a 4 instead of a 3 star hotel. They offer a buffet, which is simply not an acceptable standard. Even just the room you eat in. The waitor didnt even ask if we wanted to purchase any drinks or anything. The food was extremely dissapointing, and so was the breakfast. Maybe the "old building" has nice rooms, but the new rooms that was build felt like a "mobilehome". There were not even basic things like conditioner in the shower. We stayed at 7 different hotels in Iceland, all 4 star and Stracta clearly stood out as the only one that didnt meet our expectations at all.

We were delighted by our experience at Stracta. Glad we upgraded to the room with the fridge/microwave as we were there 4 nights and made good use of the “kitchen.” Bed and linens were extremely comfortable. Loved the shower!! The front desk staff were lovely. The breakfast buffet is diverse and delicious. We had one dinner in the restaurant which was also very good. The location is so convenient to much of the most popular attractions in Iceland. It’s a huge hotel but feels very intimate.
