Bed was comfortable and room was clean. Beautiful seaview and balcony. Ample parking. Indoor and outdoor pools both clean and inviting. The main lady running the breakfast service was professional and accommodating. All staff were friendly and happy to help. The bar in the evening was short staffed and it was a long wait for drinks. WiFi was almost non functional.

Had difficulty checking in, pools are beautiful but the sauna or Turkish hammam were either not working or needed to be turned on. Service is a little slow, but could be due to the language barrier. Overall, very relaxing place to be, but you need to rent a car if you stay here.

spa not really a spa. the indoor pool was stuffy and crowded. the gym was tiny, had to check towels for pool at front desk. and return (wet). confused about this policy with no explanation. we left and stayed elsewhere with no refund. clean room with great sea views and good bed. far from anything, but we had a car. NO BEACH. this is true for the whole island and i believe the entire azores. hotel felt like a MILL. good walking path but lots and lots of flies.

Beautiful property. Especially loved the pools and sauna area. Breakfast included lots of great options. Very friendly and helpful staff. Location is perfect for beach and oceanfront exploration but not close to the downtown area of Ponta Delgada. We had a car so it wasn’t too bad to drive in.

Pros: minimal design and aesthetic of the property was wonderful. Robes and slippers for both adults and children were appreciated. Options of indoor and outdoor pool were great. The view is stunning. Cons: There are certain expectations that come with a 5 star hotel such as superb facility maintenance and attentive customer service. The pools were not well maintained: many tiles missing and algae build up from the outdoor pool along with flaking paint; indoor pool had the same hair in the overflow drains day afyer day and the spa jets never worked. The bathroom in the spa/indoor pool area consistently lacked toilet paper and hand soap. The lunch and dinner options within the hotel were limited with little feature of regional cuisine. Given that any restaurant outside of the hotel requires a car, this was very disappointing. The service was sluggish at best. We watched four waitstaff discuss a schedule while a number of tables sat impatiently waiting for water, to order, their food...anything.

The hotel overall is nice, but we booked it to have an alternative if the weather is bad. The spa unfortunately is only one small finish sauna and one steam bath, both with glass doors to the pool area and only with bathing suits on. It’s not comparable to a spa in Austria or Germany. Also the fitness room is unfortunately smaller as on the pictures. Nevertheless the rooms are very nice and also the breakfast was sufficient for us - coffee could be better.

We stayed for just 4 days... we came in early.. 8am but luckily our room was empty and they let us check in which was fantastic. It was very quiet.. fantastic walking paths right out the door along the cliffs. Great views... it rained one morning so we took advantage of the spa, gym and pool.. then the sun came out and we were off! Only 20 minutes to the city by cab.. the front desk helped us out alot! Very friendly and pleasant.

Overall a good resort. The location was amazing and the property is pretty large and right on the water. Don’t expect beaches because it is cliff side but the view is unmatched for the price point. We also enjoyed the spa and dinning service. The only issue we had was cleanliness. We noticed a few times the sheets we would get had stains on them and at one point there was a grainy sandy substance between the blankets and sheets after they had been made. Neither of us had been to any beach so it was a bit off putting. My robe also had what looked like dried dirt on it so I just left it on the hanger. We also found out the hard way if you don’t explicitly put the “do not disturb” sign on the door the cleaning staff will just walk in. I was getting out of the shower when it happened but thankfully my partner was able to step in. The gym is pretty run down so if your someone who plans on using that you might want to opt for the outdoor trails instead. The indoor pool was also smaller than we expected and full of kids at all hours so we just avoided it. We had no problem with it as there was plenty of other stuff to do but it might not be for people that prefer adult oriented locations as there were a lot of families with small children.

This is a beautiful setting. They have a nice restaurant, breakfast buffet but you do need to drive to get to any other restaurants, stores, sights to see etc. The facility is really clean and staf were great!

La vue du côté mer est magnifique. Nous n’aurions pas pu demander une meilleure vue. C’était le highlight de notre séjour à l’hôtel. Le personnel s’occupant de l’entretien ménager fait très bien son travail. La chambre était propre à tous les jours (plancher, salle de bain et lits). La nourriture était bonne, mais dispendieuses (ex. 17€ pour une omelette). Toutefois, les portions étaient gigantesques, soit un repas convenant pour 2 personnes. Avant de poursuivre, je dois spécifier que nous avons eu une compensation de 10% et un changement de chambre après avoir contacté Expedia et le propriétaire de l’hôtel. L’hôtel fait fasse à un problème de moisissure, et ce, dans l’ensemble de l’hôtel (visibles dans les chambres et la piscine). Ceci est une problématique courante aux Açores, mais nous nous attendions mieux d’une hôtel 5 étoiles à ce prix. Mon amie et moi sommes très allergiques à la moisissure, ce qui a mené à des symptômes déplaisants. Il y a des insectes dans les grandes chambres. Mon amie s’est réveillé avec une coquerelle dans son lit. Je vous conseille donc de demander une chambre proche de la réception ou sur le 2e étage. De plus, il y avait des fourmis sur les tables durant les déjeuners. L’espace de piscine est bien, mais mal entretenu. La piscine intérieure a des tuiles brisées et les chaises longues sont couvertes de moisissure (même après que nous ayons signalé le problème à la réception, les chaises et les coussins n’ont pas été changés).

We stayed as a family of four for four nights at Pedras do Mar. The rooms were clean, but the hotel as a whole feels a bit past its prime. Breakfast was the main disappointment: served in a noisy basement room, with limited variety, and hot dishes such as eggs and bacon unfortunately cold. A wonderful place with magnificent views. Staff were kind and courteous, quick to answer any questions. My room was clean, with great views on the ocean side. Indoor pool area was clean, and you can access the outdoor pool after taking the stairway to it. Breakfast staff kept the food coming. I don’t remember having to wait for anything from the breakfast buffet. Quality of the breakfast food was good as well. I would not hesitate to stay here again.

We liked this hotel, and overall I would give it 8/10. -1 for charging 75 cents for coffee in the room. -1 for the bed needing a replacement. Please add some outdoor landscape lighting around the palm trees and pool, it would make the view from the bar beautiful.

Was such a wonderful stay with amazing views everywhere. Friendly staff, fabulous breakfast (included), our suite was huge with views all around. The food and drinks were delicious the couple times we had dinner.I would definitely recommend this place again.

This hotel has a great location and view - ocean facing windows really gave us a sense of vacation; however, everything else is less than a five star hotel. 1. Poor maintenance of facilities - the property really shows it has been years since they renovate. Our bath tub was cracked at the edges, the hanging hooks were loose (go up side down), and the sink was clogged (we had to call hotel to fix it). We noticed the dirt under the coffee table, which were never got wipe/cleaned during the four days’ stay we had. 2. Lack of service: unlike any other five star hotels, you would expect someone greet you at the door and ask for luggage helps, we walked in and no help was provided until we checked in. Things got a bit better a few days later when we saw there were finally someone there. 3. Inconsistent service and food quality at the hotel restaurant: we went back twice for the restaurant to have our dinner. First night was excellent and the food was cooked well, and the second night was a disaster - we waited two solid hours to have our food. When the food was served, my risotto tasted like something you get from a fast food restaurant (they did not clean the shrimp poop line - yak), shrimps were so small (compared to everywhere else we went). During the waiting period, no one cared to ask if we need anything - we were completely forgotten. At the most, I will rate this hotel low four star - it has its location and view for that, but the service was disappointing.

Overall very good choice for the Azores. Having the breakfast and dinner restaurant in the hotel was so nice when traveling with kids to make things easy. Outdoor and indoor pools were great, very relaxing vibe. Only thing I would change is the bathroom did not have a fully closing door and had opaque walls so it was hard to navigate at night when kids were asleep in the hotel room. But otherwise would recommend for traveling with kids.

Very comfortable place to stay for a visit to Sao Miguel island. I liked that it was in the middle of the island so that we could do day trips to the East or West and not have a very long drive. Comfortable room with nice bed/linens, clean and modern bathroom with bidet. Everything smelled nice. Good breakfast, and beautiful views from the bar/main restaurant. Plenty of parking. There's nothing walking distance so make sure you rent a car.

Nicely located hotel and luckily we had superb weather for the whole stay. Some staff at the reception still on learning I think. When we arrived late at night had to struggle to get the keys and it was not earlier than after 15mins. The next morning we received a note to come back to the reception with IDs - it seems at night the incompetent guy kept us waiting without successful administration procedures.

I think this hotel is one of the best on island. From first minute (arrive at 7:00 am) staff was very helpful and accommodating. Diego made coffee for us and gave printed guide for island. They make early check in and late check out for us without any problem. View of ocean is amazing. Easy access to ocean (I would not swim there, too dangerous). You have to have a car to go around. Beach is close. Everything is close if you have a car. Driving in small towns is a nightmare. Roads too narrow. Restaurant on property is great, but bar is way too expensive compare to other restaurants.

The main lady running the breakfast service was professional and accommodating. All staff were friendly and happy to help. The bar in the evening was short staffed and it was a long wait for drinks. WiFi was almost non functional.

Most of the staff are extremely good and friendly; however, there were lots of time when some staff members were too rigid about unimportant things (like sitting in the fine dining area 7 minutes before it officially opened for the evening). 5-star service is based on always finding a way to accommodate what the guest would like. This is often very affordable for the company but does a lot towards making the customer feeling welcome! Waiting service is often slow especially when initially offering guests drinks after being seated. The fine dining area often seemed to have empty tables but they wouldn't seat guests without a reservation. We love the birds and plants on the property and we would love more trees, flowers and wildlife in the property. Massage service was also great!

Service at the bar was very very slow! Lots of people in restaurant working, but we constantly had to look for someone to help us? We also had same problem when we came in to eat lunch. Why we never ate dinner at restaurant. We also notice while not being served others had some issues. Other than that desk clerks staff was great!

We stayed as a family of four for four nights at Pedras do Mar. The rooms were clean, but the hotel as a whole feels a bit past its prime. Breakfast was the main disappointment: served in a noisy basement room, with limited variety, and hot dishes such as eggs and bacon unfortunately cold. Das Hotel ist einen sehr modernen Zustand und war an allen Stellen sehr sauber. Das Personal, egal ob Putzkraft, an der Rezeption oder beim Frühstück, waren sehr hilfsbereit und nett. Die Lage des Hotels ist gut: etwas außerhalb gelegen, dafür ruhig. Ein Auto ist für Aktivitäten notwendig. Außerdem überzeugt das Hotel durch die Lage direkt an den Klippen des Meeres. Vom Hotel können sehr schöne Sonnenuntergänge oder Spaziergänge an der Küste erlebt werden. Schade aufgrund der tollen Lage ist daher, dass das Frühstück im Untergeschoss ist und man nicht viel von der tollen Aussicht mitbekommt. Stattdessen befindet sich im Erdgeschoss ein Restaurant mit vollverglastem Wintergarten. Das Essen dort war okay, die Preise dafür üppig und man kann die schlechten Bewertungen zum Teil verstehen. Rundum ein sehr schöner Ort zum Verweilen.

Had difficulty checking in, pools are beautiful but the sauna or Turkish hammam were either not working or needed to be turned on. Service is a little slow, but could be due to the language barrier. Overall, very relaxing place to be, but you need to rent a car if you stay here.

The breakfast was really tasty with lots of options and a large indoor and outdoor space. The views and trails right outside the hotel were fabulous. The resort is off on it's own, so you do need to drive to get anywhere. The staff was friendly and informative. We appreciated the beach towel system as well.

Beautiful property. Especially loved the pools and sauna area. Breakfast included lots of great options. Very friendly and helpful staff. Location is perfect for beach and oceanfront exploration but not close to the downtown area of Ponta Delgada. We had a car so it wasn’t too bad to drive in.

Some people may think that the location overlooking the ocean on the north shore is too secluded from the main towns, Ponta Delgada and Ribieros Grande, but we liked the fact that we could easily get there by cab or rental car if needed. This full service resort was an ideal spot to recharge and get away from crowds and noise of the more popular touristy spots.

The hotel was lovely, perfect views, the design was great. However, overall the hotel did not meet 5 star standards, and we honestly had much better food and service at most of the 4 star hotels we stayed at. The coffee was not good, the breakfast food was meh, the bar food was mediocre. The rooms were good but the shower was definitely not 5star. The staff also had a lot of rules - you could only eat certain foods in certain areas, the concierge couldn't book the spa, the towels for the pool are only at the front desk. Just made the stay feel a bit more clunky than it needed too. Also, a note that we were here in off-season, and the hotel had this eerie truman-show vibe. The hiking trails around the hotel are amazing.

Room was dated but served the purpose. Only one in-house restaurant. Food was good but has limited options. Same menus everyday, they should change the menus from day-to-day. Overall, it’s a very good hotel with most wonderful views!! It’s very relaxing! Staff were courteous and always helpful. Highly recommended!!

Dining options around holidays were limited and service was lacking. Friendly staff, especially after a few days in the hotel. Great advice for restaurants. Very clean and excellent location. Incredible views and hikes just outside of the hotel. Dining options around holidays were limited and service was lacking. Perhaps it was due to holidays, but the special dinner was expensive and really did not match our expectations, or depart far from breakfast (which is quite nice). Excellent spa and a good value massages.

The property is clean and gorgeous, the staff were incredibly friendly, and breakfast was delicious with a great variety of options to suit everyone. We did experience a few issues with our key cards as they implemented a new system but this didn’t take away from the overall experience. Hopefully the issue has been fixed soon enough for future guests

Room and property were great, could be expected based on the area. Only issue I had was that my connecting flight was canceled and when I contacted the property to let them know to push back my reservation one day they basically told me that the fee to do that equal the same amount as to the Hotel day price that I was going to miss and that there was nothing they could / would do and was basically told to keep my reservation as is if I wanted to stay there still. I didn't really appreciate that response.
