Beautiful property and grounds in a nice quiet neighborhood with a half hour walk to downtown, and 10 minute walk to the lake. Great hot breakfast and free parking included. Parking is important as all the downtown parking lots are $40-$50 per night!

Breakfast is excellent. Building is somewhat dated but it reminds of Cambridge. I used the exercise room and both exercise bikes were broken.

Great room, comfortable and clean. Great location and very good breakfast buffet. Staff polite and respectful. Nice garden to sit in the shade or have a drink . Nous y retournerions sûrement . Second night very loud noise over our room. Lots of banging and loud voices. Drunk women right outside our room crying and talking loudly on the phone at 01:30 AM. Told the receptionist in the morning about it , they were aware and said they would follow up with guests . I would have like a gesture in $ because 300$ a night when you get disturbed by drunk women is pretty expensive .

Discount rates were not available with online booking. The gym was closed due to construction; unsat.

Historical buildings and well manicured grounds. Surrounded by trees and close to Lake Ontario. The halls and reception give a feeling of comfort and class.

Convenient and good breakfast. Would be nice if there was a gym and parking was a little difficult since there was an event going on. Otherwise served our needs

Buffet breakfast was exceptional, both food and service. Certain areas of the building need updating. A big negative is wifi. Impossible to access in the room and spotty throughout the facility. Not acceptable in 2025.

The room was very nice. One pillowcase had stains. It would appear that corners, especially in the bathroom and grout could use more attention and cleaning. The toilet handle was not operating properly.

The breakfast buffet was wonderful. The room was spotless. The conference center is an easy walk to the visitors center and an easy drive to great restaurants.

While the building has its charm and the staff at the hotel were welcoming, I found the price of $270 per night to be a bit steep for what was offered. The room felt damp, with sheets that were slightly wet and a noticeable old smell. Additionally, the bathroom had some body hair in the corners, which suggested that cleaning might not have been as thorough as expected. The breakfast was quite basic and of low quality; I would have appreciated a few more options, such as cheese—even just cream cheese—and some healthier choices like tomatoes or cucumbers. Despite booking in advance based on positive reviews, I feel that the overall experience didn't quite justify the cost.

Only the noise is a problem rest are good

There is no AC and it was a bit too hot for sleeping. There is a backyard where people were doing noise late at night but when calling the reception they went to talk to the people and the problem was solved. Good breakfast included.

The breakfast and staff in the dining area were great. The Coach House Pub is only open for special events. We were in room 314. It over looks the roof. The exhaust fan runs continually. The main concern was a constant noise from the roof like a lawn mower running. 24/7. Yuk! We did tell the front desk with no result

Over all we had a good stay. The first night was really quiet, but then a conference came in and we could hear people beside us and above us. It was quite noisy. The mattress was too soft not sure when they were changed out last. The other thing was that the hallways and the rooms did not smell good. There was a very notable odour, especially in the hallway. It smells like old university dormitories. The breakfast that is included was quite nice and the staff are very friendly. Overall, the grounds are beautiful (we took advantage of using the outside courtyard ) and the stay generally was good for what we needed. However for the price, the smell the poor mattress I won’t be booking there again.

I arrived at about 8:30 in the evening. The conference center was easy to locate. The parking was straight forward. The person working the front desk was polite and efficient. I asked about a place to eat and she recommended a tavern close by open until 10. By the time I completed my check in, another guest returned from eating there and advised that it was fortunate they arrived before 8 pm because the Tavern closes their kitchen at 8. I was tired and from another province and could not imagine driving around a city I did not know at 9 pm looking for food, so I went to my room resigned that the snacks I had with me would suffice. The room was “careworn” with the exception of the newly installed carpet squares and the bleached bed sheets. The drawers no longer fit properly into the desk, the floor tiles in the bathroom were cracked and there was hair on the bathroom floor. My 2nd floor room overlooked the garbage. I always wonder if these rooms are assigned to people who book through a third party (like Expedia). The importance of noting I was on the second floor is relevant to the noise transfer from above. A very heavy-footed very ill person was above me and back and forth to the bathroom repeatedly and their wrenching could be heard in my room clearly. I contacted Expedia after speaking to the front desk clerk and arranged to cancel the remaining 3 days of my stay. The front desk clerk was professional, helpful and understanding.

Nice building and location. Staff were very friendly. Room was large and lots of room for our stuff. Updates needed though. The TV is about 20 years old and not anywhere near smart with access to streaming apps. Bed wasn’t great and the mattress needs to be flipped or turned as we both had depressions and I woke up with a sore back. Bathroom was pretty dated too, but clean. Gym was functional but could use a refresh too. There was a fitness poster on the wall from 1985.

I would have prefer to leave a 3 star rating for the room but the rest of the hotel was fine. It was my specific room 314 which was level to the room and their entire HVA system - which sounded like a large plane was waiting idling to take off when it would come on! We should have asked to be moved but I only realized what it was after we’d settled and it was only for one night. Otherwise, I’m familiar with this hotel as we’ve stayed here several times. Consistent pricing year round which is great for peak periods in Kingston and decent breakfast included as part of the rate - and free Parking. The tv’s are ancient and really should be replaced. Watched some tennis and could barely follow the. All because the image was so poor.

Yes and yes. The breakfast was particularly impressive. The room was spacious. The art on the walls outstanding.

We stayed at the Donald Gordon in Kingston to view the Total Solar Eclipse. The room we were given was very clean and comfortable. The included buffet breakfast is served in a large room on the main floor. You need to wait to be seated. The tables are set with white table linens, silverware and coffee cups. The selection was three different cut fresh fruits, small boxed cereal, two different types of scrambled eggs, hard boiled eggs, home fries, bacon and sausage, pastries, and either pancakes or French toast. Coffee is served at the table by staff. All the food was well prepared and the table service for coffee top offs or anything else needed was perfect. The dinning area was keep extremely clean. The front staff was fantastic. Extremely pleasant, informative, and helpful. Any concerns were quickly answered. When we visit Kingston again we will surely stay at the Donald Gordon.

The breakfast staff were great, Attentive and friendly. The main elevator is noisy and need a "tune-up" It doesn't sound right. When a guest arrives at the reception desk, and there's no other guests, It would be nice to be recognized and not left standing for an extended period. while the receptionest carries on with computer work. Just a recognition or acknowledgment that you're there would be helpful.

The accommodations were comfortable and had the conveniences. The body wash that was supplied was completely empty but that didn’t have an impact on our stay. Walls are thin and if you are a light sleeper you may be affected. At 9:10 housekeeping briefly knocked at the door and before my travel companion and I knew what was going on and responded she had already unlocked the door and partially entered the room before we told her it was still occupied. It was very awkward as it was nowhere near check out and we were chatting comfortably and visiting while packing. Breakfast and servers were easily 5 stars. Food was hot and fresh and staff attentive. Desk service lady ( with blond neck length bob) was excellent. Would stay again.

Wonderful stuff for the most part, except for a strange racist encounter with an older male staff member in the dining hall, with a dark complexion and wearing a hat on July 15th. He continued to stare at my mother up and down as though she was not to be at that hotel. The rest of the staff was pleasant and very welcoming! Services do need to be updated like the tv remote not working in the room, and tub without the proper drain (anything can get sucked in), also there was an odd odour in the main floor close to the dining area. Second time coming, service again excellent but would not be coming again due to the poor maintenance of certain areas/things of the hotel.

Perfect location for a Queen’s University parent

Beautiful property in a peaceful location, very close to Queen's University and has a bus stop just outside for easy commuting to downtown.

We stayed here the weekend that we dropped our son off at Queens University. The location was perfect for moving him into his dorm and manoeuvring around the city. Highly recommend for ease!

The rooms are immaculate. Lots of free parking. Quiet location a short drive to the downtown. The buffet breakfast is awesome. When in Kingston, this is the only place I’ll stay. Highly recommend.

Easy to find from 401, good parking, bed was very comfortable. Breakfast was so good, buffet was plenty full.

All the staff were amazing. Cheerful, informative, client oriented, very helpful, kind, respectful, and always at your service. The rooms are lovely and spacious. The beds very comfortable. However, the towels were very thin and small, I am 4' 10" and weigh 105lbs The breakfast though plentiful was cold, both the buffet, and the weekday one. I mean the eggs, the potatoes, the toast, the tea....

I enjoyed my stay during flag football Nationals. It was walkable distance to Richardson stadium which is the primary reason I booked it. Breakfast was decent. I was a bit disappointed that the restaurant served only breakfast. Staff was very pleasant and went out of their way to help me dry my blanket. It was a particularly rainy and cold weekend. I really appreciated the extra touch. It is a bit on the pricey side though. The hotel is very quiet. Overall I am very pleased with my stay.

Very nice staff. Quaint pretty entrance and location. Parking is free and convenient. Beds comfortable. Hot breakfast included and it was very good and the service was excellent. Odd that the paying hotel guests cannot use the onsite restaurant and pub?? Did not appreciate this as would have liked to stay on site to eat as we had a long drive. Overall was a great stay for the value. Would stay again
