Great little hotel walking distance from the main street. Plenty of free parking and the staff at the front desk were lovely. Only real issue is a little street noise being on a main road, but that didn't affect my stay. Will be back

Very nicely decorated/renovated rooms. The bathroom was huge and amazing. However, there is no lift to rooms on the upper floors and the walls are quite thin i.e. we could hear other guests and even the children playing in the ball pit downstairs in the restaurant.

While on a weekend trip around the South East region, I chose The Federal Hotel as a well priced Saturday night stay near the centre of Mount Gambier city. Be aware that if you are driving, the car park is shared with the on-site Dan Murphy and hotel patrons, so can be busy and a little hard to find a park near the rooms. Checkin was easy. The bedroom, while small with a single bed, was comfortable with a spacious ensuite bathroom. There are other rooms available, some facing outside and some inside. The room, while being relatively close to the front bar and above the dining bistro, was just far enough away so that noise was not really an issue. Overall, an ideal location for a well priced comfortable overnight stay, with lots of shopping and dining options and a discount at the hotel itself.

Room was clean and comfortable and we appreciated the cartons of milk in the fridge. We also found the car parking to be good. We were not impressed by the breakfast offering which we chose not to have and we were also unimpressed by the lack of vegetables and salads in the Bistro. You could also include some herbal teas in the bedrooms.

Sean, the venue manager, greeted us on arrival and he was lovely! Our room was fantastic - very clean, amazing high ceilings, etc. the bistro downstairs was great! All staff were very friendly and attentive! I will define stay here again!

A great affordable overnight stay whilst travelling through Mount Gambier. The room was as described- a single studio but was updated especially the bathroom with great rain shower head. Bed very comfortable. Aircon worked great. Had a fridge and tea/coffee making facilities, complimentary water and even some snack lollies which was a nice touch and they gave me a drink voucher for the pub downstairs. You could get room service from pub bistro delivered yo your room. Convenient location and easy access to room via the outside stairs with secure entry. Carpark free and close to building.

Nightcap at Federal Hotel Mt Gambier seemed to be trying hard to be a reasonable accommodation option, but just missed the mark in a few areas. Unfortunately, many of Mt Gambier's hotels have a similar issue. Staff in the hotel are friendly and welcoming, and a positive effort has been made to upgrade the rooms. However, our room, while generally being pretty good for what it is, needed a little more effort from the cleaning staff to make sure all corners were cleaned and opened milk (UHT milk) was replaced. It was a shame that our bathroom developed a terrible aroma with a plumbing issue on Sat night when there weren't options to have it rectified. Would give this accommodation another go as good value for its price and a reasonable option for this price point in Mount Gambier.

This is a good, basic hotel for one night rather than a holiday. Amenities need a bit more thought, e.g., a bath mat would be good so that stepping out of the shower onto cold tiles is unnecessary. A non-slip mat in the shower would be good too. The bed was very comfortable.

Great family motel with a lovely atmosphere. Although situated on a busy intersection, this motel is spacious and relaxing to stay. Our room was right on the corner of their intersection but we really only heard the traffic if it was an emergency vehicle with sirens. Ear plugs for sleeping were also provided in the room however we didn’t need them. The staff were fantastic and welcoming. Food in the restaurant was yummy. Great place to stay. Would happily stay again.
