No staff around for check in which was disappointing, paid for a deluxe King bed/room which ended up being 2 singles pushed together. Unfortunately no parking onsite. You have to park your car in the public carpark around the corner and walk back to the hotel which is annoying for unloading luggage. TV has no facilities for cable channels or to use streaming services. Overall average stay. Felt it was overpriced for what we got.

Great self check in. Only one lift working during two day stay over a public holiday long weekend. Not great with long waits. Worst shower water pressure ever experienced that was barely a trickle everytime. Twin room booked into an accessible room was not what was expected that we paid for. Overall disappointing stay.

This hotel is close to everything at Southbank and walking distance from the city. There is also a taxi rank across the street. The staff are friendly. The price was very reasonable. Breakfast was pretty good (discounted if ordered the day before). The cleaning provided during the stay was basic (eg no clean wine glasses provided and no dishwashing liquid provided to wash them - fairly minor quibble). We needed the air conditioning to be cranked to high to keep the room from being stuffy, even though it wasn’t hot outside.

Great location. However, we were here for a 4 night family holiday (4people in a small room) and the service was below average. Our room was only ever serviced the first morning, then never cleaned again. Our rubbish was never cleared, no washing-up supplies or bowls in the kitchenette, no fresh towels. Even with numerous requests to reception for room servicing it still didn’t happen. Very disappointed!!!

Check in experience was poor. The digital screen stated the wrong room type, so we had to queue for 15+ minutes to check in with the one and only person on the desk. Other staff walked by the queue of people multiple times. The room was tired and in need of updating. It also didn’t feel clean, especially under the bed or sofa bed. I found 2 coffee cup lids (not ours) and a dust. I didn’t want to walk bare feet on the carpet. The only thing going for this hotel is the location.

Shower filthy. Mugs dirty. Grot around kitchenette sink and taps, power switches... I dont mind if a hotel is out dated as this one is, so long as it is clean but this one was far from clean. Receptionist fairly dismissive when told of conditions.

The hotel is well positioned and easy to get in and out. A few issues with the room. One of the down lights flickered. Toilet seat was very loose. Water pressure in the shower was very low.

Friendly staff, great location. Bathrooms need renovating but were clean. The only issue i had was that i asked for a king bed, which was 2 singles pushed together. One mattress was higher than the other. Not a comfortable sleep.

Great position, easy walking to city! Only issue was demolition site right opposite our room 605 jackhammering all day! If you plan to have a siesta so you can enjoy a late night- make sure your room faces away from the Yarra!

I arrived to check in at 10pm and despite having “24 hr” reception I (with my sleeping baby in pram) stood outside and pressed the buzzer. No answer. Multiple times. While standing outside I rang the reception phone number. No answer. Multiple times. I finally get into the lobby as another guest swiped in and again multiple phone calls and no answer then finally someone emerges from “the office” not acceptable service

Nobody at checkin desk. Waited for ages and had to get cafe staff to go get someone. Same again later when we had to validate parking. Room not seviced so had to go and request extra tea and milk. Paid a high price for a busy time, so expected better staffing.

It is fantastic that it is located in the heart of Southbank and within walking distance to most places, however the rooms are tiny, we had no hot water for the first day and a half. The parking was expensive and the onsite restaurant for breakfast was terrible

Had some issues. Breakfast was disappointing. Was told by waiter that scrambled eggs was the only option after i asked for poached eggs. Later decided to cancel my next day breakfast to be advised no there is a chef there to cook you eggs how you like. Sunny-side up etc. Doors locked at 9pm. I came back and got in fine but was bailed up at entry door from a lady trying to get in to check in for the night. There was a staff member sitting at desk and would have seen this interaction and lady pacing outside.

This hotel is way overpriced for what you see and experience. The room service pizzas were terrible, the appearance the taste and quality it was as though they’d run out of ingredients and rushed it not cooking it long enough .The shower door screeched very loud and a lot of mould in the shower. Filthy mugs and toilet on arrival. No exhaust fan in bathroom. Fridge was open switched off with a drenched towel sitting in it. Only 2 towels supplied but 4 people with our booking. No black tea bags. Very disappointed. The breakfast was ok.

The Mercure is a nice hotel and well located on the Southbank. It is showing it's age however and not as modern or fancy as it appears in the photos. The breakfast is ok, with limited choices that you may grow tired of over a longer stay. Given that I stayed for business, I would be happy to stay here again. There is an empty lot directly in front of the hotel that suggests that the Mercure may entirely lose its view of the river in the future.

Our stay at this hotel was absolutely exceptional! The location is unbeatable, right in the middle of Southgate. If you love convenience, this is the place to be. The local casino, an incredible variety of restaurants, and excellent retail shopping are all within easy walking distance. We loved being able to just step outside and explore without ever needing to worry about transport or parking.From the moment we arrived, the service was fantastic. The staff are incredibly polite, welcoming, and helpful. Checking in was an absolute breeze—the contactless check-in process is great, fast, and completely seamless.As for the room, it was spotlessly clean and beautifully maintained. The bed was extremely comfortable, providing some of the best sleep we've had in a long time.If you want a stress-free stay with world-class dining, gaming, and shopping right at your doorstep, this is the absolute perfect spot. We will definitely be back!

First time l’ve done self check in at hotel! Surprisingly, went very smoothly! Clean, comfortable & very convenient hotel! In fact, the only time l saw a member of staff is when l checked out! 👍 Didn’t have breakfast or use the bar! I would still recommend this hotel for excellent location!
