Loved the included excursions and the overall beauty and vibe of both the Explorean and Fiesta Americana. Unfortunately,the two best restaurants with views are closed right now- and no one told us. It was a big disappointment because many of the restaurant options are without AC and the ambiance was severely lacking.

El lugar está hermoso, dentro de la jungla, y con acceso desde el hotel del lado, el Fiesta Americana, es tranquilo, pocas habitaciones, y todos los días te llevan jugo, café y unos panecitos de plátano muy ricos, incluyen tours gratuitos diarios, sin embargo, no tienen playa. El Fiesta Americana tiene club de playa, pero no hay acceso al mar, únicamente camastros, por lo que no hay como ingresar al mar, únicamente a través de algunos tours (no todos lo permiten). El hotel cuenta con una sola alberca, la cual no tiene regulada la temperatura así que muchas veces es muy fría, tanto que impide que uno ingrese a la misma. Si vas buscando el descanso, definitivamente esta no es una opción.

The VIP access had 2 rooms, 2 baths and very spacious. The bed was very comfortable. The view was excellent! Well worth the upgrade. The pools (all pools) should be fixed, tiles falling off, and large sections with holes making the facility appear run down.

Great time at this resort always. Many food options as we could use restaurants at Fiesta Americana as well! Pools recently updated were great! What is the best there are wonderful staff especially Arturo supervising that everyone is cared for and Jose at fish restaurant is always working hard to get everyone what we want! Chef Carlos and Nick did a great job for very special meals at Italian restaurant!!

Beach club is closed at Fiesta Americana, and pool needs repair at Explorean. However, what made it excellent are the people that works at Explorean. They are amazing, kind, super attentive, and gracious! The included activities were an added bonus! We would gladly stay again!

Staying here was the best of both worlds… a super calm & relaxing jungle oasis to return to… but being able to go over to F.A for entertainment/kids club & the ocean vibe was awesome! Food was great, service was fabulous. The all inclusive excursions were so fun, especially the snorkelling boat trip! We loved our 8 nights here… we didn’t want to leave!

Had a lovely time at the Explorean. The pool was wonderful and the beach club was superb. I was able to find a free cabana pretty much every time I wanted one! The snorkeling right on the property was fantastic! In fact, it was even better than a few of the spots I visited on an independent tour (not with the Explorean) so bring your snorkel and some water shoes! The room itself was clean and comfortable. It was a little damp, but I think that has more to do with the climate and building materials than it does on the hotel itself. There was a slight issue with the shower area flooding one night in my room. I called the front desk on the way to dinner and explained the situation. When I got back from dinner, there were several people in the room working on the issue! It didn't flood again after that. They were incredibly efficient! Everyone was incredibly lovely and I would absolutely visit again!

The Explorean had a pool and dining area to itself as well as access to all the restaurants and pool at the Fiesta Americana Hotel in front on the Explorean. The cabana style quad rooms were very nice and secluded in a jungle environment.

This property is great! The wife and I absolutely love the snorkeling literally right in front of the hotel. The food is good the pool are not the best and the bar closes at 10:45 so if you are looking for a party not the place. Besides the beautiful water and snorkeling the service here is absolutely amazing. They take great pride in their jobs. Now for the slight negative. The beach club is closed. So you can’t get service down by the best feature they have. Hopefully they get it figured out soon. Also it needs a little TLC. Pools are in disarray and could use a coat of paint. Not a deal breaker but looked better when we went in 2019. We love this place and highly suggest it if you love a fun small quiet after 11 resort. If you want a party go to Cancun. P.S bring your own snorkel they do not provide after covid. Don’t miss out on the best part of this place.

The rooms were all very moldy and mildewy. Took two heavy washes once I got home to get the scent out. It would be a challenging situation for someone with respiratory issues, bc all rooms have mold. They don’t have a dehumidifier system in this hotel and it’s in the middle of a jungle, hence the mold. Lovely staff, fun activities. Just need to get the mold situation handled. For that reason I would not return, but choose a different hotel.

The Explorean Cozumel was an amazing experience. The room was clean and modern. The food was delicious. And the activities were fun, but the icing on the cake was the superior staff. I would rate this property 10/10.

Food: 9/10 Restaurants were very good. Not a bad choice amongst any of them. Buffet breakfast was diverse enough and the food was great. We honestly did not have one bad meal here. They had Asian, Mexican, Italian, a grill, ceviche bar and a few others and everything we had was amazing. Drinks: 3/10 Very very very hard to get drunk. Mixed drinks taste generally all the same. Liquor must be watered down. Beer and wine seem untouched. Wife doesn’t really drink, has somewhere north of 8 drinks and didn’t have a buzz. You can start drinking at 11am which is pretty late imo, and all alcohol served is cutoff at 1045. Could be for safety but idk, maybe to make it a more family friendly environment. Our 6 days spent there, not a single drunk person was seen. Nightlife: 5/10 Activities are the ONLY nightlife on the resort. They were fun, but nobody did them (or tailored to children in which case nobody showed up still) and they only lasted an hour. Afterwards, the place turns into a ghost town. Service: 10/10 Everyone was extremely nice, helpful, spoke your language or at least tried to fluently converse. All inconveniences for the guest were essentially taken care of by the staff. The only thing to say here is that the service COULD be a bit faster but that’s a viewfrom an American take it as you will. The grounds were pretty and very green. I like that the hotel was small and everything was close. The rooms were very basic and pretty rustic. Our room was very hot and humid. After the first night, they did move us to a new room which was even hotter! The temperature stayed around 78-80 and was miserable for sleeping. I asked the front desk multiple times about it and they gave different reasons each time but the issue was never revolved. Someone did come to “look”, but again, it never cooled off. The family we traveled with also had a hot room and I talked to another couple with the same issue so I know we weren’t the only ones. The food at the restaurant was good but the service was extremely slow so we ate mostly at Fiesta Americana. We made reservations for the restaurants upon check in, but the agent did not make our reservation for the last night. She also didn’t mention their envelope system for tipping, so we tipped along the way and they prefer a tip at the end so they can split among the staff. Some of the staff was friendly, but most of them just seemed bothered to be asked for drinks or about the air. The service at Fiesta Americana was better. The pool is getting old and needs some repair. The guides for the excursions are fun and helpful and the excursions are the only reasons I would go to this hotel.

The property needs a good clean and refurbishment. But because of the weather and being in the jungle I understand that maintainence is a continuous struggle. Staff is very good. The check in people are pushy to have you check out the RCI opportunities which comes with a lot of resorts. Food is fair to very good. The restaurant of the explorean is nice and serves great food. The breakfast basket delivered to each room every morning is a nice touch but only has enough coffee for two cups. Would go again because it is pretty good for the money.

El personal es sumamente amable. La habitación estaba muy limpia. El servicio de spa muy bueno. Te llevan café y jugo a la habitación yo solicité que no lo llevaran porque no lo iba a consumir y no quería que se desperdiciara y de todas formas lo siguieron llevando.

Te sacan del hotel con el gancho de “tours” pero la realidad es que te llevan a clubs de playas a venderte caro cosas que vienen incluidos en el hotel, el personal de no está capacitado y es desorganizado. No tienen instinto de servicio. De las 2 habitaciones una estuvo siempre sucia y mal limpiada.

Private, clean, and beautiful. The perfect Mexico getaway. The size of the resort makes it a more intimate experience allowing you to make bonds with both the staff and the other travelers. Iguanas can be seen meandering through the grounds. The location is a quick walk to the ocean. And scattered throughout the resort is a variety of restaurants. The staff is more than happy to accommodate your needs and are incredibly kind.

The rooms were absolutely beautiful, loved being in the jungle. The only downer was there is no sand beach, they are working on an area that looks like it will be beautiful on the beach with chairs, there is already a pool, and lounging areas.

We had an amazing stay at The Explorean Cozumel! The staff went above and beyond to make us feel welcome from the moment we arrived. The resort is beautifully set in the jungle, offering a peaceful, natural vibe while still giving access to all the amenities at the adjacent Fiesta Americana. Came with my girlfriend and had an amazing stay. I’ve been to probably a dozen all inclusives and this was my favorite so far. If you are looking for a big beach with powdery white sand, this is not the spot, but the snorkeling was awesome. Pool was nice. The food was still resort food, but definitely better than most. Rooms were comfortable and very clean. The staff was amazing all around. The included excursions seemed like a good time but we didn’t have time to take advantage of them because we only had a quick three day stay. We go to the riviera maya once or twice a year and usually just go with whatever the best deal is when booking, but will definitely come back to Explorean next time. Can’t wait to come back.

Had a lovely time at the Explorean. The pool was wonderful and the beach club was superb. I was able to find a free cabana pretty much every time I wanted one! The snorkeling right on the property was fantastic! In fact, it was even better than a few of the spots I visited on an independent tour (not with the Explorean) so bring your snorkel and some water shoes! The room itself was clean and comfortable. It was a little damp, but I think that has more to do with the climate and building materials than it does on the hotel itself. There was a slight issue with the shower area flooding one night in my room. I called the front desk on the way to dinner and explained the situation. When I got back from dinner, there were several people in the room working on the issue! It didn't flood again after that. They were incredibly efficient! Everyone was incredibly lovely and I would absolutely visit again!

They had Asian, Mexican, Italian, a grill, ceviche bar and a few others and everything we had was amazing. Drinks: 3/10 Very very very hard to get drunk. Mixed drinks taste generally all the same. Liquor must be watered down. Beer and wine seem untouched. Wife doesn’t really drink, has somewhere north of 8 drinks and didn’t have a buzz. You can start drinking at 11am which is pretty late imo, and all alcohol served is cutoff at 1045. Could be for safety but idk, maybe to make it a more family friendly environment. Our 6 days spent there, not a single drunk person was seen. Nightlife: 5/10 Activities are the ONLY nightlife on the resort. They were fun, but nobody did them (or tailored to children in which case nobody showed up still) and they only lasted an hour. Afterwards, the place turns into a ghost town. Service: 10/10 Everyone was extremely nice, helpful, spoke your language or at least tried to fluently converse. All inconveniences for the guest were essentially taken care of by the staff. Our stay was amazing. The bungalow room in the jungle had fantastic views of trees and vines and all kinds of jungle vegetation-so many colors of green. The room was large, spacious, and luxurious. The food at the hotel restaurants was delicious and abundant. The staff went over and above all the time with their care and attention. Poolside service is nonstop, and the wide spread buffets are available all day long, as well as a coffee bar and snack bar and regular bar. It was truly a wonderful stay and the kids had a blast, too. We went on the snorkeling excursion to El Cielo (it included several stops for different kinds of sea-life to be observed) which was one of the highlights of our trip-free for all guests! I can’t recommend this place highly enough.

Service is not attentive and very slow, I understand I’m on vacation so it doesn’t have to be in a hurry, but they are definitely short of staff and sometimes you see just one waiter trying to take care too many tables. The food is okay, nothing fancy.

We’ve stayed at the Explorean twice now and it’s really the only place we want to stay. The only downside is that they try to get you into an hour and a half presentation for a membership. That is the only reason I didn’t give it 5 stars overall. The staff here are simply the best, very, very friendly and accommodating. The staff actually make this the best.

The hotel feels like it’s built inside of a rainforest area, peaceful and isolated, but we had access to the amenities of the Fiesta America, a traditional all inclusive hotel. This also included excursions every day. The guides were great, including Armando. Miguel, our server every day at the pool, was very attentive and friendly. Christian, in reception, was very responsive and helpful when our flight home was cancelled. The servers and hostesses were all friendly and attentive at all the restaurants. We had a very nice trip with our teenage kids and would love to come back.

The property needs a good clean and refurbishment. But because of the weather and being in the jungle I understand that maintainence is a continuous struggle. Staff is very good. The check in people are pushy to have you check out the RCI opportunities which comes with a lot of resorts. Food is fair to very good. The restaurant of the explorean is nice and serves great food. The breakfast basket delivered to each room every morning is a nice touch but only has enough coffee for two cups. Would go again because it is pretty good for the money.

Amazing resort!! Everyone was so polite, so accommodating! Shout out to Nestor, Armando!!! They were such amazing tour guides and did an amazing job to make us feel safe!! The only downside was selling “discount” membership, if this wasn’t so pushy this resort would’ve earned 5 stars from me!

This is a beautifully designed hotel that is surrounded by lush greenery. There’s a pool in a beautiful setting with lots of options for lounging if you don’t want to be in full sun. I loved that you also have the option to use the facilities at the Fiesta American if you want full sun and a DJ! The combination of the 2 facilities was great because you just have more options. But I always really liked the difference from being at the Fiesta American, beach and pool and then going back to the Explorean where it was more cool and quiet. Perfect for families with small children! Lots of indoor/outdoor restaurants with high ceilings and fresh healthy food. And other little things like a coffee, ice cream and pastry bar from 10 - 10 for caffeine and sugar addicts. Staff was super nice and helpful and there was a different option each day for a field trip. The boat trip to go snorkeling got me back in the groove with snorkeling again after 25 years, and then I discovered that the snorkeling right off the beach at the hotel was just as great! (There are decks with ladders to easily get into the water as this is not a wide sandy beach.)

Our favorite part of this property were the free excursions that were provided each day. If you don't like the big resort atmosphere, this place is great. It's quiet and calm but their sister resort is a short walk away and you can enjoy the amenities of a larger resort there.

Explorean Cozumel has been our hotel for the last several years. Several kilometers south of town, it is much closer to dive sites than many other hotels. Good choice of restaurants. Welcoming and helpful staff. And they have done a lot of important maintenance work since the last time we came in 2023, when the place was hurting badly from weathering Covid.

Our favorite Cozumel resort. The staff is helpful and friendly. Gabriel at Lo Kaan Restaurant never fails to make you feel special and you never do without something you need. The rooms are beautiful and clean. The jungle balconies are heaven every morning with the beautiful and friendly birds. Being able to use the entire Fiesta Americana property and still having an oasis with few people and a bar and pool almost to yourselves is wonderful. Eduardo is the first person who has greeted us both times when we first arrived and he makes you feel right at home. If you want to go anywhere the doorman at the FA are the best and never had more helpful person with taxi and finding a place. The location is great. Snorkling right out front and a pier in front of you have a boat excursion it picks you up right at resort. Can’t wait to go back!

Loved the included excursions and the overall beauty and vibe of both the Explorean and Fiesta Americana. Unfortunately,the two best restaurants with views are closed right now- and no one told us. We chose this resort for the excursions and they did not disappoint. We travelled as a family of 4 with 16 and 18 year olds. The excursions were great for all of us. The boat snorkel tour was our favourite one, followed by the buggy tour but we enjoyed them all. They always brought a cooler full of drinks and a stack of towels. The food at the resort is good, nothing special. It’s a much smaller resort than those in the Riviera Maya and I’d say the food was a small step down. We all got a little sick near the end of the week. They had some really good empanadas at the coffee bar and I think we ate them just before they pulled them. The excursion definitely made it worth staying at the Explorean and if we had a redo on our vacation week, we’d book it again! We didn’t take in much of the nightly entertainment but we did the casino night which was really fun. Marshall was a fun dealer and made it a great night. The pools were nice but we didn’t spend much time in them. Most of our time was split between excursions and the ocean. Bring your snorkel gear! With the current in Cozumel flippers are nice. We left ours at home and I wish I packed them. My husband and I went to the spa for a massage which was wonderful. All the staff were great. We were asked 1x if we would be interested in checking out the time share. We said no and it wasn’t a big deal. To sum it up, we loved our week here!

Excellent experience at the Explorean! We were drawn to the resort because of the good reviews and because the excursions were included. We weren't sure what to expect with the excursions (they could been so-so since they were included) and we were very surprised. The excursions were wonderful. Guides Edgar and Jaciel were particularly excellent! So friendly and helpful! The food at both the Explorean and the adjacent Fiesta Americana was fantastic. We loved the jungle environment of the Explorean, and the snorkelling right in front of the Fiesta Americana was amazing!

Nice property but very limited with food choices for an all inclusive. We got sick eating at the Fiesta resort next door which was part of the access to guests at the Explorean. Otherwise there is only one restaurant at Explorean and not much food choices. The food poisoning was horrible which really took a toll on our vacation.

Food: 9/10 Restaurants were very good. Not a bad choice amongst any of them. Buffet breakfast was diverse enough and the food was great. We honestly did not have one bad meal here. They had Asian, Mexican, Italian, a grill, ceviche bar and a few others and everything we had was amazing. Drinks: 3/10 Very very very hard to get drunk. Mixed drinks taste generally all the same. Liquor must be watered down. Beer and wine seem untouched. Wife doesn’t really drink, has somewhere north of 8 drinks and didn’t have a buzz. You can start drinking at 11am which is pretty late imo, and all alcohol served is cutoff at 1045. Could be for safety but idk, maybe to make it a more family friendly environment. Our 6 days spent there, not a single drunk person was seen. Nightlife: 5/10 Activities are the ONLY nightlife on the resort. They were fun, but nobody did them (or tailored to children in which case nobody showed up still) and they only lasted an hour. Afterwards, the place turns into a ghost town. Service: 10/10 Everyone was extremely nice, helpful, spoke your language or at least tried to fluently converse. All inconveniences for the guest were essentially taken care of by the staff. The only thing to say here is that the service COULD be a bit faster but that’s a viewfrom an American take it as you will. Room/Cleanliness: 9/10 The entire island is VERY conservative and caring for their environment, especially the reefs. The resort itself was super clean considering that it’s basical

Resort with smaller and more boutique like much better than a mega resort. Never more than second in line for almost anything. Drinks were high quality alcohol. Southwest fresh definitely recommend making reservations at the restaurants the Mexican was our favorite. Play classic example everyone was friendly welcoming and helpful from the front desk to the bartenders too The tour guides. It's really nice to be in a Mexican resort where everyone genuinely likes working there. Make sure you bring some small bills $1 or two tip really makes a big difference to them you don't have to tip every time but occasionally it's very helpful. We would return again and found it an excellent value for the money

It was absolutely beautiful there. The rooms were clean and tidy at all times, and well stocked. Brenda, our personal concierge was so helpful and sweet. She was able to get us massages and on excursions. She was absolutely amazing.
