AI-generated summary based on recent guest reviews

Reviews of The Bow Hotel describe a central, walkable base with simple, boutique-style rooms, but a heavily self-service model where app-based entry and access codes sometimes cause confusion, delays, or frustration, especially when communication is late or incomplete.

The hotel advertisies as a four star hotel on the waterfront of Portsmouth. It is neither. They don't tell you when you book that it is a 'contentless property' which I came to fine out means nobody is on site and that they are supposed to send you front door codes and room codes after you book. They did not. Not until we waited outside the front door for another guest to let us in did we reach someone on the phone so we could pay $35 on-site parking did we finally get codes by text. The room at best was 10 ft by 8 feet with only a bed and no chairs. The only window faced the street (not the promised ocean view) and was 8 inches wide and 18 inches tall. After a delicious dinner at a nearby restaurant that did have an ocean view we came back to our tiny room and opted to drive home rather than spend the night. Better to lose $220 than waste a night in this place that is way overpriced and completely oblivious to providing guest service. I assume this must be a new owner as the Bow Hotel is a historical hotel with a once good reputation. These owners are all about getting as much profit with service even below what you would find at a Motel 6.

It was a nice clean room. Not having front desk was a little strange, but they sent check in instructions and were very good at responding to text messages. Location was excellent, easy to walk to shops and restaurants.
