The Urban is a great place to stay in an area of Sydney that is just bursting with life. The rooms are spacious with great facilities and in the foyer, they have 24/7 tea, coffee, biscuits, wine and beer. What more could you ask for....friendly staff??? This is without doubt the best thing about the Urban :-)

Stayed twice now. Love the location, perfect for a show at the Enmore of just a night out in Newtown. Lacks alot of parking, but can easily find affordable overnight parking within walking distance. Great room, amazing lush plants in foyer, free beer or cider on arrival. Couldn't ask for more really

The location is excellent. A dining mecca. Every type of cuisine is available in the vicinity. Convenient to the light rail system. I never felt unsafe in the area. My room was tight. No in hotel amenities. No restaurant or bar, gym or pool, but you have the chains for that. Not the most expensive option either.

We had a nice, comfortable one-night stay at The Urban Newtown, perfectly located in the heart of Newtown. It’s just a 30-minute train ride to Circular Quay and all the main Sydney sights, making it a convenient base for exploring the city. I’d recommend booking a car parking spot with the hotel in advance, it’s a shame this has to be arranged and paid for separately, but understandable given how busy the area is. The welcome drink and snacks were a lovely touch and made us feel very welcome.

From the moment we walked in our stay was amazing. The staff welcome, information on the area, the free drinks and snacks in the foyer, the greenery, the conditions of the rooms. We couldn’t fault a thing. We were going to Enmore Theatre which was a 2 minute walk away, and had a wide selection of restaurants and pubs within 5 minutes. Can’t fault anything!!

Lovely facilities.. great location.. clean, affordable.. easy access… nice complementary drink on arrival… Only problem is lack of parking… this wasn’t explained very well when booking and so by the time we were nearly in Sydney , if we hadn’t of checked website we wouldn’t have known about where to park in surrounding streets… maybe this needs to be highlighted in blurb before taking a booking… But, staff were lovely in getting back quickly with information via email… thanks guys.. great stay!

The hotel is in a very convenient location and the hotel itself is quite qurky and cool. The staff was excellent and the room was fine for my overnight stay. However, the cleanliness has much to be desired especially the bathroom. It let's the place down. I would stay there again but I sure hope this was a one off issue.

Great location for USYD visit and plenty of restaurants nearby. It was very clean and all the staff were helpful. We stayed in the 2 bedroom apartment with terrace. It was very quiet and the beds were comfortable.

Perfect location to attend shows at the Enmore Theatre and cool hotel décor. Lots of food and drink options very close by. Two downsides were the shower with loud high pitched noises from the taps and the fact the room was not soundproof so sleep was disrupted (including constantly hearing housekeeping outside the room in the morning).

Room overall was a great size and it was nice to have the kitchen area. Great price as well and in an area that's walkable to anything you'd need. The bathroom has absolutely no counter space - it's just a sink without any surfaces to put a cosmetics bag or anything in the bathroom itself. I took other reviewers' advice and was able to get a room away from the elevator but you can still hear folks cleaning the hallway first thing in the morning. The room wasn't very sound proof so if you're sensitive to sound or a light sleeper, this might not be the spot for you.

Great room, great location! Staff was amicable. If i were to criticize something is that the water from the upper floor flew through the pipes in my room so I could hear anytime they were using the restroom. Not so charming hehe.. but i had a great stay anyhow.

The Urban is a unique, comfortable stay overall but we found the lounge area a little awkward and there was a smell from one of the bathrooms. They also had a smart TV but it didn't work for streaming and when I tried to contact to get some help there was no response.

We had a King Studio for an eight night stay at The Urban and found the room a little tight on space. We didn’t have any drawer space for clothing and for us there was nowhere to put our one suite case on the frame provided, due to this limited space. A box of tissues would have been useful in the ensuite. On the plus side we found all staff very friendly and helpful and it is a perfect location. We will definitely stay again but review room size better.

Fantastic affordable place to stay. Rooms are compact, but have all you need. It’s a squeeze for the 2nd person to get around the bed with the TV mounted to the wall, but it’s fine for a short stay. Beds and pillows are very comfortable. Surprisingly so! Easy access to great food on Enmore Street.

It’s ok but it feels like a hostel. It’s noisy too tbh.. there are communal areas outside the rooms and people were sat on their phones having full volume speakerphone conversations. It’s also right under the flight path for planes near the airport and the walls are thin. It’s a great location hence the appeal but if you want a comfortable long term stay maybe head further in or out of town. The air con is very good.

The property was handy to the train station and the Newtown shopping centre, the staff were friendly and helpful.I had difficulty contacting the premises by phone. The room was extremely noisy and even earplugs didn't block the street noise. Some pillows were rock hard.Not a restful stay. Lacked some little extras like a hairdryer and facewasher.

I’m on crutches recovering from recent surgery. The staff were so helpful with everything from car parking to room location. Also LOVED the hotel. Wonderfully renovated, charming, kitschy, well appointed. Can’t speak highly enough. A very happy find. Will definitely stay again.

The room was clean and comfortable. Great location for a visit to the Enmore Theatre. Check in was quick and easy, as was parking. The website gives plenty of warning that you need to book ahead for parking, as it's limited. Our room faced onto Station Street, which probably made it a bit quieter. Would definitely stay here again.

Newtown is a very trendy area. The hotel is close to the train station which was great. The rooms were very small but clean enough. Parking was very difficult to find especially at the weekend. Was an ok hotel, don’t set your expectations high and you won’t be disappointed.

The Urban Newtown is in the perfect location if you are going to a concert at the Enmore Theatre. It has a really quirky / funky vibe and the customer service was fantastic. There are plenty of great dining options in the area and you can walk everywhere. We loved it.

We really enjoyed the woman who checked us in. She was just wonderful, and I even had a conversation with her, on our second night. She was just perfect. Oh, we also liked that we could have some actual wine, beer, or cider as well as some teats with it. That was a huge surprise! We don’t get that in the USA. Take care abcs I wish you more stats and a Happy New Year!!!

The location was excellent. All the plants and art in the common area was cool. The room was interesting, but the room wasn’t set up that well for twin beds, but was ok. Bathroom smelled like bleach, but it was very clean. Liked the free drinks, apples and little bags of chips in the arvo. Would have appreciated the tea and milk being replaced in the room after we used them though. Still recommended though.
