Commodore Hotel

You have to share a bathroom with the entire floor. So if you're not into that I would not recommend. Also no parking onsite. Restaurant was awesome would highly recommend.

Low cost stay in the heart of Astoria. Dog friendly.

Great location, friendly staff.. don't stay on the second floor. The walls and the floors are paper thin. We stayed two nights and didn't get much sleep either night. Everyone can hear each other clear as day, the floor above you is going to be extremely loud and creaky, and no one seems to think twice about other people in the building with them. Also, the building is poorly ventilated with no AC. Depending on how picky you are with the temperature of the room you stay in, it might be a no go for that aspect. If you are on the 3rd floor, I imagine the experience is much, much better.

Liked the location and style. Just wished it had a microwave, ice maker, and fridge. Otherwise really nice.

this is my second time staying at Selina Commodore. Both my wife and myself enjoy staying there. It is perfectly located downtown with an incredible amount food and drink options with in 2 blocks, and the water front is right across the street. It's not super fancy with lots of amenities. but the room we had was spacious and comfortable. The place is very affordable with a really friendly staff. Plus they allow dogs.

Weirdly brief check in time - (3- 5pm) and slightly worse for wear compared to the last time I visited maybe 10 years ago when it was a newly outfitted Ace hotel knockoff, but overall fine for the price despite having old chocolates from some previous tenant left in the bedside drawers. Nice little DVD / game collection in the lobby. Great location and charming in it’s own way. Broder is a good restaurant in my experience but didn’t visit this time, so I have no idea if it’s up to standard anymore. No front desk past check in, so It’s essentially an adult hostel I guess...

On the third floor and I believe that the AC unit is directly above that room, and every time it would turn on it starteled me awake. The bathroom and shower are shared and i wasn't aware of that until check in. Very uncomfortable process. The shower room and bathroom were clean.

Parked on street, my car was loaded, it was fine. VERY loud street noise, I did not see that my room had no fridge, also NO conditioner in the bathroom, just shampoo, for once I had forgotten mine. Room was clean, floor carpet was not. Very basic but fine accomodation, more like a hostel. I chose the shared bathroom option, it was fine

Our particular room was a smaller inner room with no real view. Bed was comfortable, but not as good as some better known chains. There is a fan but no AC and our room could have had a small end table for both sides of the bed but it only had a larger end table. Would have liked more hooks too and I think they could stand to put in a bigger tv. I think our TV was maybe 19 inches. Other would have been nicer. No ice machine, no phone, no WiFi but for a short stay it was fine. Separate shared shower and toilet were clean. Hotel has a lot of character for being 100 years old. Loved the lobby and free drip coffee in the restaurant . Also loved the free movie rental and games. Location is untouchable. Parking is street parking. We did have to move the car once but it was a minor inconvenience and expected for the location. Window poses a safety issue as it can open out all the way and no protection for little kids that could fall out and seriously hurt themselves. Would not recommend this hotel for small kids due to falling out window risk. Also not much to protect against sounds from other rooms or outside so hopefully you are not a light sleeper. I would come back here again though because staff was friendly and place is clean and great location and we don’t have small kids.

Was a little leery of the old building and street-parking only, but it worked out just fine. Sure, things are old, but they’re perfectly functional! Street parking was a worry, but it opened up just fine a little after we checked in. Cool spot for sure. Would stay again. Only complaint was it was a hot day, and there’s no aircon. Maybe that and noise through open windows, but it’s a city, what are you going to do? Unfortunately we missed the opening times for the restaurant/bar/whatever downstairs because it was a holiday weekend. TL;DR was nice, we may come back before too long.

Sadly, while I really want to be able to recommend the Commodore, I simply can't based on the noise factors. It's a cool hotel in a historic old building. But the window glass is paper thin, the window frames might be the originals, and the amount of noise from the street was insane. Yes, they offer ear plugs at the front desk, but that's not really the answer. With no AC and abundant cool night air, you want to leave the windows open. But you simply can't if you want to sleep past 5am when garbage trucks and construction vehicles stream by. There was nothing else wrong with the place. Location is AMAZING. Staff was super friendly. Room was clean and cozy (we had a private bath room, and the shower was great!) But it was Sofa King loud, if you know what I mean. Unbearable in the early hours of the morning. It makes me sad to leave a bad review on that, but I would not stay there again, despite all the other positives. Nothing outweighed that loudness in the morning.

We have stayed here in the past and robes were provided so you didn’t have to get fully dressed to walk to the bathroom down the hall. They had foot towels to put down when you got out of the shower and they had Kleenex in the room. NOT any longer. This stay our room smelled of stinky feet when entering and the woman’s bathroom was not cleaned or was the garbage dumped the entire weekend of our stay. It was a disappointing stay compared to our visits in the past that went so well. Please bring back the robes, shower mats and Kleenex and cleaning staff then the visit would be worth the price we paid. Thank you.

We enjoyed our stay at the Selina. The hotel was clean, comfortable and the staff were friendly and helpful.

Very cute room but needs to be updated. No coffee machine, no place to hang towels in bathroom, dust everywhere. Dust on the mirror even and the desk fan. For having no AC I would have hoped for a bigger cleaner fan option. Couldn’t get the tv to work. I bucket to put ice in had no liner & was disgusting.

Room was dirty with dust and pet hair everywhere, and I was constantly woken up by other guests because the acoustics are so bad.

The hotel after-hours service was fast and responsive. Our only complaint was the cleanliness of the common area floors and stairwells which were very dusty. Someone actually wrote “clean me” in the dust on the stairwell.

The Hotel has gone down hill since opening. Room was dusty, towels were old and rough, make up service minimal and the said they would charge us for new towels??? Over priced for what it is. Would not stay there again.

We loved our cute European style room! At first we werent sure what to expect with the shared bathrooms but everything was clean and private! We understand some people might not like how busy the street is but you get the best location for a trade off! We loved it!

Wonderful stay with a great view of the Columbia river

GREAT FOR SOUND SLEEPERS Our check in process was smooth and friendly. The location of the hotel was also convenient with plenty of street parking in the neighborhood. However, the owners need to be introduced to the wonders of double glazing. Sleeping in was like sleeping in the middle of a street! Mainly because Highway 101 passes right through the middle of town so the hotel is pretty much adjacent to the highway. Given that most semi traffic occurs in the night, it meant we felt and heard trucks all night. If that weren't enough, the floorboards creaked like those on an 18th century schooner. We thought this was perhaps intentional to fit in with the nautical theme of the hotel. I guess the noise issues are not unknown to the management given that they thoughtfully provide earplugs in room. The 'television' was a 14 inch computer monitor hanging off a wall. Guess management needs to be informed about how cheap televisions have gotten. They have a couple of mirrors solidly fastened to the wall facing the bed. We were quite creeped out by this so we tried lifting it a bit to check for cameras but it wouldn't budge. Again ...creepy! The property is a solid 2 star with 3 star pricing. Okay in a pinch, but not so okay if you are envisioning lazy mornings and lying in bed watching the rain.

I was in the room by truck route. This you would understand if you get that room. Other than that great place.

Check in and check out were automated, we never saw a staff person the whole time we were there. Felt a bit creepy but ok. We had no problems that required staff assistance but other guests did and were grumpy about it.

Good overall. I liked the vibe, and the room was comfortable and clean. Staff were friendly and helpful. Lack of parking, noise between rooms, and having to use the door keypad in the evening were not great. Still, would stay again.

Front desk staff was great - communicated prior to arrival about after hours check in and parking options. He was very friendly upon arrival. It's obviously a pretty old building and certain details reflect that - window gaps/lack of screens, etc. Most things have been updated, but there are a few details that could use a little care. The self serve lobby fridge was nice, but the ice machine being down was a bummer. Bed was comfy, linens were all super clean. The Keurig and electric kettle was a nice bonus. Having Broder connected was great. The addition of the lobby games and records was pretty cool. Would definitely stay again. :)

This hotel was quite a treat. Immediately we were greeted by 2 friendly staff members. The lobby was very cute and unlike your average hotel lobby. The staff was very thorough explaining the building, parking and what was available to us. The room design was incredible. The entire building had great decor and preserved history. The entire place was spotless. For the price we paid, I was suprised we found such pleasure staying there. Great value, I couldn't be more impressed. The ammenities was moderate score as we did not take advantage of any of them.

The hotel was pretty good. A very old, historic hotel with a bathroom down the hall. I had not realized that when I booked but it was fine and I had a sink in my room. Room was a bit hot even though it was cool outside. I did not want the window open because I had a little dog and there were no screens on the window. Desk person was very friendly and helpful. I would highly recommend updating the TV situation. TV was ok but I had 2 remotes. One to set it up and another to change channels. I followed the instruction sheet they provided and could not get it to work. I finally had the desk person come up and set it up for me and I did not turn it off until I checked out, to make sure I would not have any more troubles with it. TV channels were very limited. I wanted to watch the usual ABC, CBS, NBC etc.. and could not get it on the TV. I had a migraine Sunday and wanted to relax and watch football but FOX was not provided. Saturday night a domestic dispute broke out and since there is no overnight staff, it went on for quite some time. I tried calling the hotel and got no answer. I gave it another 30 minutes to call police and it turned out the manager had been called and brought the police. Not the hotels fault though and the manager did address it when called. I would stay again given the room temp and tv were the only issues the hotel could control.

Check-in was simple and hotel was super quaint. Staff were very nice and competent. We had a lovely time!

Nicely upgraded hotel in historic building. Walking distance to stores and boardwalk. Very pleasant checkin and nice jazz music playing in lobby. Room was comfortable with upgraded bathroom and couch/seating area.

This is such a cute little gem of a hotel. We had a lovely stay. Late check-in was very smooth and the amenities were well thought out. The location was great for us to walk the town. Parking was easy and convenient. We’ll definitely be back!

Great! Rustic style room, very simple. It fit the waterfront vibe we were looking for. Needs a community ice machine at least though, hard to keep things cold, like leftovers. Splendid Restaraunt down stairs called "Stranded". As a Scandinavien american, I really appreciated the menu! Thank you for a 4 out of 5 stay!

Great Memorial Weekend stay. Comfortable and clean. Housekeeping was an issue. Towels, TP, trash, & bedding were not provided. Fresh towels had to be requested. Otherwise, good location, nice adjoining cafe, fantastic lobby perfect for remote work. Parking was easy.

Nicely updated older property. I checked in after the staff had left for the day, so I didn't interact with any. Great Norwegian/Scandi restaurant downstairs. Would stay again.

Adorable retro hotel, i would recommend you stay here if you love a homey character vibe :) excellent customer service from the staff. worked with us patiently as our travel time was delayed. felt safe and cozy. loved astoria and this hotel is wonderful!!! also the goonies house is only 6 minutes from here!
