It was pleasant and quiet. Parking was a little confusing at 1st. Coffee was excellent! An extra chair or small table would have been nice. Thanks!

The room that sleeps 5 people (room 21) is upstairs and there are no ramps/elevators to get to the second floor-difficult for guests who can’t climb up comfortably. Cafe food options are a bit expensive ($8 for a breakfast sandwich that isn’t even made in-house). Otherwise a nice lodge in a beautiful area.

We loved talking with others around the fire pit after a challenging, enjoyable climb! Enjoyed the food, location.

Interesting property for any outdoor enthusiasts. It is the base camp for RM guide service to Mt. Rainer and has great onsite amenities, restaurants and a full service outdoor gear shop. Unique operation in a micro community.

The parking situation is a little tight, but understandable. The quietness is perfect.

I knew the rooms were basic, but for the price, I expected better. There were cobwebs, a daddy long-leg spider in the bathroom, and the floors were not clean. The lack of cell service in the area makes one entirely dependent on wifi in case of emergencies, but the wifi wouldn't connect to the internet. There are no fans or anything in the room, so I had to sleep with both windows open--on the first floor next to the public restroom. Between everyone stomping back and forth in front of my room and the upstairs guests wearing their boots indoors, thank GOD I brought earplugs or I wouldn't have managed to get the little bit of sleep I did. Have you considered ceiling or oscillating fans in the rooms? The coffee from the cafe was consistently good, but they were "out" of most of the breakfast items.

The room was great. The water pressure and nice towels after a long day of hiking was way nicer than I had expected. The room was super clean and the property was very cute. Walkable to the restaurant next door as well as a equipment rental facility

Booked and paid for 3 nights, left after 1. It was that bad we were prepared to write off the two nights. It is simply awful. So noisy we could here every snore, belch, moan, word and footstep from the room above. We were two doors down from the office and coffee shop so everyone walked past our room on the very noisy boardwalk. There were hairs in the bath from previous occupiers. The towels had holes in and must be 10 years old and when we asked for replacements we were told they were out of towels. I have since read a review on here from September 2023 when someone else said the towels had holes in. So 8 months later and they have done nothing. The inside of the our room resembled a garden shed. The curtains dont fit so you daren't put the light on unless you are fully clothed. There are no prices displayed in the coffee shop. On here it says a small breakfast is between 3.5 and 6 dollars. I would like the owners to say what you can buy for that. We had two breakfast muffins and a very small latte and it was $20. The place is a rip off. The people who give this place 5 stars and just say "wonderful" are out of their minds. Save your money and sleep in your car. Youll be just a comfortable and it wont be anywhere near as noisy.

Great location and close to a really cool restaurant. The facilities are very basic and the bathroom needs a deep clean but the bath towels and sheets were clean. Safe and very quiet place! There is a very good shp for brreakfast,

What a gem! The staff was amazing and attentive. The room couldn't have been any cleaner. The area was amazing, so much to see and do in nature. We spent very little time in the room. When we did it was on the deck, enjoying the view. The Salmon House Restaurant, across the street, was a true gem as well. The seafood and cocktails were phenomenal. We ate there EVERY night. Cons... the bed was comfortable but FIRM and there was not a microwave or an icebox in the rooms. The store doesn’t open until 9am so bring your own breakfast... or eat breakfast down the road at the other Lodge. Sit out on their Veranda and check out their view.

It was a room that worked to sleep in the night before hiking to Camp Muir. The shower was hot with a good flow rate and I didn't have to crouch. The bed was pretty lame, and the pillows were pathetic. There were a couple spiders nested in the bathroom so some toilet paper and they were flushed down the toilet. Anything that had a edge to collect dust was doing just that. I normally leave a tip for a room, but chose not to here. They had a solicitation for tip flyer which is lame, especially considering the greasy dust piled up on the corners of the shower insert. Mandatory & solicited gratuities need to go. I tip well when earned, and I like to tip well - that means I'm very happy with the service. I'd stay again because it's probably the cheapest place close to the mountain if you need to be in the park early. The ladies working in the coffee shop were both very nice. I'd recommend on a needs-based situation.

It was very close to Mt Rainier which is why I chose it. I paid 183.00 a night for a bare bones room with stained sheets and bath towels with holes. Had to call the desk to figure out how to turn on the shower....and was told push on the wall and pull real hard and turn. Just in extreme need of a total refresh. No Fridg, no microwave, no TV only 1 light bulb in the bathroom, no air conditioning and no screens on the windows.

Room was clean , bed is a mattress on a piece of plywood, so pretty firm. No extra pillows in the room and what they had were very flat. No tv. If you want a place to sleep it was perfect, but if you want comfort and quiet this is not it. Young adult in the yurt were up until late partying and people above us sounded like a herd of elephants (mainly due to it being an older building). Good location, restaurants in the area.

Room was fine for my needs. And bed was firm. It was clean. The main complaint was just the thin walls and hearing other people’s conversations and snoring at night.

We were in the second story, and it was really hot in our room. Difficult to control the climate, but at least the window opened. Otherwise, no complaints. Great room in ideal location.

Extremely small room. Beds were not fastened to floor. Very noisy fan in bathroom. No tv. No microwave. No fridge. No phone. Could hear neighbors shower. No place to set luggage. I would not recommend this place to anyone.

The room is very spacious and clean. Also has plenty of storage and shelf. The only downside is that we stayed at the second floor, you may bump you head against the A ceiling on the side of the room.

Room 22 on the second floor was like a room in the attic. We bumped our heads many times as the sides are slanted. The lights and ventilation fan were controlled by the same switch and the sound was annoyingly loud.

A nice property if you know what to expect. It is a clean, basic accommodation with no frills. I wanted a place to stay after a strenuous hike to Camp Muir and this was fine for my needs. You should note there is no TV, AC, in-room coffee, and the advertised free wifi didn't work.

Check in process was confusing. If you arrived any later than 3, they tape the key to the door…which was nowhere to be found in any of the registration emails.

Why there’s no service after 5 pm??

We were told, on arrival, that there was no water. This was not the fault of the motel. It was a problem with the local service. However, the motel only provided one small bottle of water per customer, and advised us to not use the tap water at all except for showers (and even then, there was risk involved). They warned us of this through expedia an hour before our check-in time, but we were on the road and unable to access email. But the motel refused to supply us with any more water. Why did they not go to the supermarket themselves to provide their guests with more bottled water? This was very poor service given the considerable fee paid for one night in what was a quite shabby room. The problem with the water meant that none of the other services (bar, restaurant etc) were open. But there was no concession at all from the motel.

Staff and owner was so friendly and nice, I had some issues and canceled at last min. He was so nice and accepted my request.

We had a great stay at the hotel the room was nice and clean the bathroom was a bit smaller with only one small sink we git two rooms which was attached with one bathroom the room didn’t had any ac or any fans but the night was ok enough was to sleep in summer there was no staff after 8 so even if we wanted we couldn’t get anyone. When we arrive we were not told that the bbq dining area will be close at 8 so be wary about that it was hard for us to find dinner afterwards because everything close at 8 the surrounding was beautiful we started there cause we went to National park first thing in the morning and that workes out great for us.

The room was fine and cleanish despite the strands of black hair in the sheets and dingy pillowcases. This was *fine* considering we were just staying there for the night HOWEVER when showing up to check in there was NO ONE to be found. While it was 9pm, hotels.com stated checkin was until 10pm. Before we panicked too much, my husband did a lap and found our room keys and information TAPED to a window in an envelope. I’ve stayed at many hotels and this was a first for me. Very creepy, and VERY unprofessional considering they could have called or contacted us with a heads up. The history behind the place is interesting but will not be staying here again. I would recommend checking out other properties nearby.

It is historical and a bit rustic - no TVs but we don’t mind that at all. Staff was friendly and it is in a great location

It’s 6 miles to the national park entrance. With a timed entry passes starting from 2024, this property is a good option for an affordable rate. The interiors are decent , don’t expect a Marriott or holiday inn service.

Very nice, friendly place to stay while hiking the trails at Mt. Rainier National Park.

Great value for a family of 5. But the cafe really lacked in prepared breakfast options everything was microwaved! Would have like home cooked breakfast options. Grounds were very nice and the room spacious.

Loved our stay here! Convenient to get coffee in mornings from the adjoined shop. Good location to get to mt rainier, and still close to food options! Only catch was didn’t realize how small rooms were. It worked fine for us only staying 2 days, but would’ve been a bit cramped for longer.

Whittaker's was exactly what we needed! The room was clean and the expected amenities. We really enjoyed that Basecamp was right next door. Easy to check in. Breakfast food was good! The "light breakfast" is just a freezer burrito, but the smoothies and English muffin were great. Overall we liked it a lot and would recommend it!
