I was greeted by a very friendly staff member, who checked me in and showed me around the hotel. All the staff I met were very friendly and helpful. The shared spaces are all very clean and decorated nicely. There is a 24hour coffee and tea room, it is an awesome place to hang out. The bathrooms were always clean as well. The shared kitchen is stocked with dishes and cooking utensils and a couple of fridges and freezers to store food in. The building is old and not built with great sound proofing. you will hear people walking about or talking close by. If you are in a room on the inner part you won't get the street noise. The area around the hotel is nice. It has everything you will need close by( shopping, grocery, trains, parks,ect.) It is about a 2km walk to most of the main attractions of the city, but not as busy with loads of tourists. There are lots of locals though. As a solo female traveler I found it to be a very safe area and great hotel to stay in.

The staff was very nice & helpful. The rooms were bright & clean and well decorated. The breakfast was great. I was only there for 1 night before a flight. It is close to a metro station, 10 stations from airport. Everything was great. The place has a great vibe. No elevator, but staff helped carry my heavy suitcase up. From what I observed, there are 5-6 floors, with 2 wings each and about 8 rooms per wing. Each floor has a covered porch, kitchenette & lounge area. Very well organized and maintained. My only note was that it had a shared bathroom situation, which I did not notice when I booked. The bathrooms were clean, 3 per floor, 2 with showers. At first, I thought I had booked a Youth hostel when I heard about the bathroom situation, but there were many older people/couples as well as solo travelers or small groups. What made this different was that there were not dorms like a typical hostel... Rooms seemed to be doubles (made up of 2 single beds together in some rooms like mine). They were also very clean, nicely decorated and modern. I would definitely recommend this place (if you don't mind shared bathrooms) as it is a lovely accommodation in a beautiful old restored building.

First time staying at a Guest House and can kick myself for not doing it sooner. Great place to stay for a few nights, with kitchen privileges, clothes washer, sitting rooms on each floor and 3 common bathrooms on our floor of 8 rooms.

We enjoyed the location, cleanliness and service. Our room was on the third floor (actually 4th) of a beautiful old building w/out elevator, so it was a bit of a climb for two seniors. We were also unaccustomed to sharing a bathroom, but that turned out to be a minor issue as there were 3 bathrooms shared by 7 rooms

We had a great stay at Chalet d’Avila! The room was spacious and comfortable and the location was easy to hop on the metro. Breakfast was a highlight and we appreciated the snacks, coffee, and tea that were provided throughout the day. Be aware that if you book the “family room” there is only one double bed and a sofa bed that can be made up. We didn’t realize this and sleeping on the sofa bed wasn’t as comfortable as a real bed. Overall a great stay! The guest house is beautiful and comfortable.

L'accueil et le personnel était toujours à l'écoute, le café à volonté était aussi un plus, pour un petit repos après les excursions. Une cuisine partagé par étage qui a bien servi pour les repas du soir est aussi disponible ainsi qu'un salon. L’hôtel est très propre, le petit déjeuner manque un peu de variété mais est largement suffisant. L'hotel est vraiment bien situé, à cotés de 2 lignes de métro. Petit bémol sur les douches et wc à l'étage, mais on était prévenu dans le descriptif et cela n'était pas vraiment dérangeant. En revanche, attention au bruit, ceux des autres hôtes (hélas les gens ne respectent pas les consignes de silences) et ceux de la rue (beaucoup de circulation, ambulances, éboueurs, fêtards aussi...) Les nuits peuvent être courtes... Et cela peu manquer de romantisme en cas de séjours en couples. En tout cas dans mon cas avec ma petite fille c'était très bien

Magnifique gîte pitoresque, extrêmement propre, personnel très chaleureux. En face du métro! Seul inconvénient les portes d’entrée sont très bruyantes dans le building secondaire (nous dormions au RDC près de la porte d’entrée), alors bien malgré eux les clients font du bruit à leur arrivée, ce qui pourrait rendre votre sommeil plus léger, mais autrement nous recommandons vraiment cet endroit. Cuisine complète, terrasse pour manger, corse à linge, vraiment super !

This property might have changed my mind about shared spaces… The property is is a very convenient location close to restaurants and supermarkets and directly across from the train station. The instructions from the staff to get to the hotel from the airport by metro were extremely clear and easy to follow. The train ride was a breeze, we got there in 20 min and the train was clean and cheap. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I didn’t know that the bathrooms were going to be shared and was very nervous about it but they were clean as was the room and other shared areas. The breakfast was included and very good options. You must keep in mind that they have more than one building and no elevators but they can help with the luggage if you ask. Overall it was a great experience with comfy beds and clean spaces.

Good hotel, with the most friendly and helpful staff, who were always there providing assistance and advice to everyone. Literally across the street from the metro which goes direct to the airport or city, so really easy for arrivals or departures. I walked to the centre each day - about 1.5km, if you like walking and looking around. The hotel is split into two buildings. The main one offers free coffee, tea, juice and snacks; the other has kitchens, but if you want any drinks or snacks, you need to go out to the main building, which is a bit of a pain when you're tired after a long day. Breakfast is excellent and very plentiful, served as a buffet in a nice sunny room. Rooms and (shared) bathrooms are very clean. Overall lovely, easy and friendly place to stay!

Il nous est annoncé qu’elles sont nettoyés minimum 3 fois pas jour mais c’est absolument faux ! Les chambres sont néanmoins propre mais très peu isolées. Bruit infernal jusqu’à 3h du matin. Peu de tranquillité.

I was a bit worried since it’s a shared bathroom, but it was consistently clean, which I really appreciated. You can tell this place truly cares about its guests. There’s always a coffee station and fresh fruit available, which was perfect for me — I could grab some on my way out or enjoy it as an afternoon snack, something that’s not easy to find while traveling. It was the best little bonus for me. I also want to express my gratitude to all the staff for their kindness.

My stay was absolutely wonderful! The staff was engaging and provided me directions and helpful tips about things to do around town and how to avoid tourist traps. The entire place was VERY clean. I was concerned about the shared bathroom situation, but I need not have been. It was very clean and I never had to wait when I wanted to go to the toilet and/or bath. The location is directly across the street from a metro station which was VERY convenient. The guest house is in a bustling area near a grocery store, pharmacy, and restaurants, but my room was quiet and very restful. I highly recommend this place - and plan to return when my plans take me back to Lisbon.

As mentioned in other reviews, the property is older and lacks strong soundproofing between rooms. Our room faced the street, so it did get loud a few times. That said, the customer service was excellent—the staff even helped us with our bags during check-in. The breakfast selection was great, and we were pleasantly surprised that snacks were available throughout the day. The bathroom was mostly clean, though the showers could use some attention. One only worked as a handheld due to a broken attachment, and the other drained very slowly. These are very minor issues, though—overall, we had a really good stay.

The place is so cute and the staff are kind and extremely helpful! The rooms are spacious and the shared bathrooms are always kept clean. The area is nice with a big supermarket, restaurants and is across the road from a train station that easily goes into the city centre and the airport. Walls aren’t the best sound proofed so would recommend ear plugs for any light sleepers. Overall a lovely and welcoming stay!

My initial room smelled musty. I tried to air it out, but it didn't help much, so the staff very kindly moved me to a double room that overlooked the street. Much nicer and didn't smell. With the windows and shutters closed, the street noise was "ok". The pedestrian crosswalk constantly peeps (like an alarm). This might bother some. Staff were excellent, breakfast good, place is very clean. No air conditioning.

Most things were great, especially the staff, except the most important thing when it comes to a sleeping arrangement: the sleep. This was the noisiest place I've stayed in my life. Sounded like someone was moving a grand piano down a flight of stairs at one point. I don't get what is going on in this guest house for there so be so many frequent "crashes" in the middle of the night. Invest in some door closers so your guests can sleep.

Only spent one night, but it was fine and we could have stayed longer. The guesthouse is in a lovely old building with wooden floors and high ceilings. Our room was large and the bed was comfortable. Also a desk and table in the room, along with water and towels. Two shared bathrooms were opposite, one with a shower and one larger one with a bath. Both with a toilet. A guest kitchen and lounge and outdoor balcony are was next to our room. Everything was very clean and working well. Breakfast was ok. Not a full continental, but enough for us. A medium sized supermarket is a few metres away down the street. The location is directly opposite Saldanha Metro station, which is convenient for getting into the centre of Lisbon and also to the airport. Both within 30 mins.

I loved my stay here, everything was spotless, the staff were all super friendly, great (and plentiful) breakfast, cosy room, etc. And it is literally across the street from the Metro. So convenient to get to/from the airport. However, there is no soundproofing at all in the rooms. The room above me had ppl walking around at 1 AM on hardwood floors both nights, several neighbours going to the toilet in the small hours and fiddling with the key in their doors. Outside, you could hear every car, every cough of a passerby, a cleaning crew with leafblowers at 11:30PM (seemingly with personal vendettas against leaves as it went on for ages), garbage trucks, noisy demonstrations, partiers, barking dogs, etc. In short - I didn't sleep much. Some better windows would make a huge difference! But I would still stay here again because I was really made to feel welcome. A home away from home :)

I'd love to give this place full marks. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful with recommendations. Breakfast was lovely and varied. The building has an amazing location, right next to Saldanha metro station, which connects you easily to the airport, train station and the rest of Lisbon. But...my stay was loud and I had trouble sleeping a few nights because of it. I suspect I got unlucky with a street-facing room, but if you're a light sleeper, it's something to consider. There was significant street noise a few nights and some lack of courtesy by other guests when entering the hotel late at night.

The place is so cute and the staff are kind and extremely helpful! The rooms are spacious and the shared bathrooms are always kept clean. The area is nice with a big supermarket, restaurants and is across the road from a train station that easily goes into the city centre and the airport. The staff were amazing and went out of their way to make my family feel welcome. We had checked out really early, got to the airport and there was an 11 hour flight delay......so they let us come back. Many hotels would not do this. Huge thanks to a lovely bunch of humans managing a gorgeous property. Highly recommended.

Had a lovely time at the quaint Chalet D Ávila. The staff was super kind and helpful. The breakfast was fabulous, including fresh Pasteis de nata every morning. The location is a bit removed from the touristy parts of Lisbon, but the bus and metro (located right outside the door) make it very easy to access. We found earplugs helpful as there was quite a bit of noise outside our room.

L'hôtel est vraiment charmant ! Chambre séparée avec douches communes, les douches sont tres propres. Le personnel est adorable. Le petit déjeuner est correct. La chambre est spacieuse, on entend la rue à cause du simple vitrage mais c'est normal dans un bâtiment ancien. Boutique de pasteis de nata à 2min à pieds ! Ligne de métro au pied de l'hôtel, ligne directe pour l'aéroport, et changement à 1 station pour aller dans le centre. Je reviendrai sans hésiter !

The staff were so friendly and very welcoming, they made it very easy for us to check in, find our room, and check out. The breakfast included in our stay was amazing too, the staff were constantly replenishing anything that was even a little low! Overall my friend and I loved it here and would absolutely stay here again!

We had a great stay at Chalet d’Avila! The room was spacious and comfortable and the location was easy to hop on the metro. Breakfast was a highlight and we appreciated the snacks, coffee, and tea that were provided throughout the day. Be aware that if you book the “family room” there is only one double bed and a sofa bed that can be made up. We didn’t realize this and sleeping on the sofa bed wasn’t as comfortable as a real bed. Overall a great stay! The guest house is beautiful and comfortable.

Je pense qu'il n'a pas la qualité pour le prix payé !... Peu de choix et qualité moindre, surtout pour les œufs, la salade de fruits et les jus, dilués à plus de 90%... de l'eau avec un peu de couleur et très peu de goût !

The location of this place was great, and the transportation is just around the corner. The staff is pretty friendly and helpful. My flight was delayed, but I was able to leave my luggage there for a couple of extra hours so I could take one last tour of the city. (: And I absolutely loved their breakfast! Now that I’m back home, I really miss it every day. They had everything you could possibly need, all ready and waiting for you as soon as you woke up.

From the moment I entered through the door, everything was excellent. The building was just like in the movies, staff at the front desk very helpful and good organized, room was big, clean and bright. The metro station is across the street and coming from the airport was smooth and easy. There are several shops around and so many different restaurants, bakeries and coffee shops.
