Homewood Suites by Hilton Savannah Historic Dist/Riverfront

Great hotel for families! Awesome rooftop area with pool and TVs. They don’t advertise this enough! Only issue we had was there were two elevators, one was down all the time and the other was so busy or out of use.

Loved the pool on the roof top until it got crowded with unruly kids. Parking was stressful unless you do valet. Free breakfast daily was a definite plus and excellent. Location is convenient to River Street shops and view was great.

We had an incredible stay at Homewood Suites in Savannah! The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful, especially with my kids. The breakfast was delicious and plentiful, which made for a perfect start to our mornings and was included in our stay. The service at the breakfast was fantastic, with a waitress who always greeted us with a smile. The location was ideal for us as we needed to be near the Savannah Convention Center, and being steps away from the Ferry meant we parked our car for the weekend and didn’t need it again. The rooftop pool was one of the best hotel pools we’ve ever enjoyed, offering privacy away from the city streets. The pool bar served fabulous drinks and tasty food options, including a kids' menu, and provided pool towels, which was very convenient. Overall, this was one of our favorite weekend getaways, and we can’t wait to come back!

Roof top pool and bar are great. They overlook the river. Hotel is new and clean. The rooms have a full fridge with a kitchenette. Free breakfast in the morning. A free happy hour with snacks Wednesday evening. Only complaint is the pillows were uncomfortable.

Didn't like having to pay $40 to park in the parking garage. And no free wifi. Parking should be free.

Staff was friendly. Pool area was nice. Negative: 2 of 3 elevators were out of service for our entire stay. I got stuck in elevator for a short period. We had to carry our luggage down 7 flights of stairs during checkout. Ice machine on our floor was out of service. Room service was fair.

This property is in a great location. It has a wonderful interior with a rooftop bar, food, pool and dj. Breakfast was good and the rooms are comfortable and well equipped. The only problem was getting unloaded as valet parking is required with a $50.00 a night fee and was terribly backed up the day I arrived. Took forever to get into a spot to get unloaded. Otherwise, a wonderful place.

Amazing spot! Live music at the roof pool every night. Good breakfast in the morning. Our room was clean and nice decorated. I would stay here again!

Very nice hotel with an amazing rooftop pool and bar. Noticed some issues that could have been fixed such as broken fan blades in the pool area, a large missing chunk of ceiling above the pool, and some different maintenance problems that occur over time.

The area next to this hotel in under a little construction in July 2024. This was a little annoying trying to walk to River Street but still worth it because there are no stairs. We loved this hotel. Hands down the best bar / pool area in Savannah. Beautiful at night and they had a DJ by the pool both nights we were there. Bar was open 12pm to 12am. It was clean and the food was good too. Pool is a good size, has some cute water features, view was amazing of the river and the pool sparkled. Breakfast was free and it was ok. The hotel was clean and the staff was friendly. Easy walk to Riverstreet without any stairs. This hotel is at the end of River street. We go to Savannah every year and will definitely stay here again.

I like how close it was to everything. I did not like that they did not replace the body wash that was empty from Day 1. Or that we were given limited coffee for the room. Just enough for 1 morning.

My family and i were in the dirtiest room ever! The bed was not changed and it had hair in both beds the shower also had hair all around the drain area! The chair was peeling! Furniture old and out dated! Never again!

We did not like the fact that valet parking costs $50 per night (plus tips) when a parking garage is literally 50 yards away from the hotel. (We were too tired to search out self-parking, so we did use the pricey valet). Also, we were in room 710 & could hear the live music plain as day that took place on the rooftop until after 10 pm (we were tired and were in bed by 8:30-9:00 pm each night). So I don’t recommend this room if you go to bed early or have small children. The first day we arrived, we sat our bags down, I immediately removed my shoes, walked across the floor & felt something get stuck to the bottom of my foot. I looked at my foot and discovered that I had stepped on a fake fingernail (on the carpet beside the loveseat) that was stuck to the bottom of my toe! Yuck!! Also, there was a towel hook barely hanging on the wall in the shower area. All employees and staff were very friendly. The free Breakfast “buffet” was subpar. Disappointing. Will not stay at this location again in the future due to cost mainly, and the lack of decent selection of shopping/restaurants within easy walking distance being limited. We did enjoy the ferry being handy and free to use. The lobby and common areas of the hotel smelled amazing, but our room did not smell nice.

I hate having to write this review amd I struggled to complain bcs everyone was so nice, but i was in a suite.. i have never been so disgusted with a bathroom/shower, full of dust, hair in shower and mold… imagine being disgusted to take a shower:/ imunfortunately… terrible and unfortunate bcs the hotel lobby is really nice

We really enjoyed our stay. This is a comfortable and very clean hotel. The ship pass right by your window so that was cool. The staff was awsome as well. I will stay here again.

Property is beautiful. Very clean, friendly staff. We love the roof top bar and pool area. Our room was very large and extremely clean. The staff at breakfast are so friendly and quick to clear your table. Absolutely love staying at this location!

This hotel was very centrally located for everything. It is right on the riverfront. Lots of restaurants a quick walk away. The breakfast was fantastic with very friendly workers. They have a person to help you book whatever tours you are interested in. The only part we did not like was that they did not clean your room everyday. We were there for five nights and they only voluntarily cleaned it once. We did go down to the front desk and request a second cleaning which was done with no problem. With the price we paid for 5 nights, $1600, I expect daily cleaning. Otherwise it was a great hotel and location. They are building a new hotel next door so that does get a bit noisy at times.

The room the window full the fingers print. The comforter has a stain . I have to request for clean towels and pick up the garbage ! I reserved for 6 days but I made early check out !! The hotel not is 4 star!!!

My recent experience at Homewood Suites Savannah was far from pleasant. Upon arrival, the room was immediately a letdown. It was dirty, with visible mold on the ceiling and an unpleasant odor that persisted throughout our stay. This made my family uncomfortable and made it difficult to enjoy our time there. Additionally, the noise levels were intolerable, especially around the pool area. There were too many children screaming loudly, which made it impossible for us to use the pool and relax. The lack of management or staff intervention only exacerbated the situation. Overall, our stay at Homewood Suites Savannah was marred by cleanliness issues and an overpowering moldy smell. We were unable to fully utilize the amenities due to these issues, and the environment at the pool area, which significantly impacted our stay.

We really enjoyed this hotel. We has a 2 queen suite with balcony. We had great views of the river watching the boats go through. The beds were comfortable, the water pressure was great. The pool upstairs was very warm, they had heaters on rooftop on the cool nights. The had a DJ and a local singer who was fantastic. You could sign in to Disney/netflix in addition to tv channels. The breakfast was included and food was great. We ordered food and drinks at the rooftop bar as well, very reasonable pricing and food was good. There is a selection of items for purchase in the lobby (medicine, snacks, drinks, etc.) all very reasonably priced for a home. Just one block over from all the fun shops along river street. If I have any complaint it's the DJ was very loud, we could hear music 3 floors down. So keep in mind if you're a light sleeper and going to bed early. It didn't bother me, but I could only imagine if we were closer.

Well I paid extra for a city view, I guess my city view was of the side walk and the hotel next door. Then they are currently putting up a flood fall behind the hotel which means they started at 8am with the drilling, so no sleeping in.

Loved the room, the view of the river, and the breakfast! Wasn't crazy about the pillows.

It is a close walk to the river. The mattress was not comfortable, and my weekend stay resulted in sleep deprivation and a very sore back, and I do not have back problems. The roof top bar lounge chairs are made of hard, polymer plastic and they are very uncomfortable as well. This acute, physical ailment of back pain detracted from what was to be my relaxing birthday weekend.

Rooms were very nice, as was the pool. Staff was helpful and friendly. Only real complaint is the TV mount is really weird and hard to angle towards the bed. Also would have liked to have been able to stream my own video to the TV. Wanted to watch Disney but was not an app on the TV and no way to stream my own content.

I did a lot of research to find this property for our stay. I was under the impression parking was included which was why I chose it. Turns out it was not included and cost us an extra $50 for the day. Also, they do not allow a direct connect to their WiFi like most places. You have to sign up for a free Hilton account. It was loud in the rooms because other guests doors slam shut all night. The room was a nice set up and there was a lot we did like but I think there is room for improvement considering the cost.

The staff that greeted us were very friendly and helpful. The room was really nice and spacious. I splurged for the water view which was disappointing. There is work being done and our view was blocked.

We were disappointed to be on the 2nd floor and only one window in our suite had a river view. The windows in the sitting room and bedroom looked out on traffic and cars speeding through late into the evening was disturbing.

Excellent customer service at this hotel. The staff is friendly and helpful. It is located within perfect walking distance of downtown Savannah. We ended up parking our rental car and never using it. They also do a great job cleaning, better than a lot of hotels since Covid hit.

This is the second time we've stayed there because we had such a great experience the first time. The staff is very friendly and helpful. And I have to compliment Spring on her upbeat personality. Makes the stay that more pleasant.

Our reservation for a 2 queen suite with balcony was unavailable when we checked in 10/17/2025. The desk agent Manny hustled us to a building next door while my sister pushed the luggage cart behind us. The only thing we were told was this other front desk would help us … then Manny disappeared. The new hotel did not have a suite and we now needed to pay the nightly rate of their choice for a regular room. No mention of a refund from Homewood Suites was mentioned and now there’s 2 hotel charges on my credit card. The next day we went back to talk to Tiffany, the manager at Homewood. She knew nothing about our situation. Eventually we were given future 2 complimentary nights and her sincere apology for the situation which is a great step towards making things right.

Staff was painfully slow and not very helpful

Front staff were not pleasant and would not even consider a later checkout to accommodate Tradeshow attendance and departure flights get time.

For some reason when I booked my stay on Expedia, my reservation wasn’t transferred over into their system. It showed it was booked and then cancelled somehow. Luckily, the front desk staff were happy to help and ensured that I got the room I paid for. The staff were very nice and friendly especially the front desk team members and the valet guys.

Let’s start with the Valet, he was amazing. Such a welcoming, kind and patient person. The calm amongst the storm that came rolling in with a van full of kiddos on a LONG road trip. Tiffany at the desk was wonderful and so welcoming. Gave us some great tips for where to get out and grab a bite, she also without even a request being put in, had extra towels sent to our room.Which was SO thoughtful and appreciated. The location is AWESOME what a cool spot, so many shops and restaurants within walking distance. The view of the river is gorgeous and just the overall ambiance is So Savannah. I can not wait to come back without kids.

Hotel was nice, upon check in they guy was not friendly, nor was the bartender at the rooftop bar. We sat there for a bit and were never acknowledged, Everyone else we dealt with was very pleasant. The location was perfect and valet was amazing.

While the hotel itself and the surrounding area are quite nice—and I wish I could leave a more positive review—I would not recommend this location to others. We experienced many issues: Upon arrival, our room reservation was given away. They found us a room. But, to make matters worse, the staff member who checked us in was noticeably rude and unprofessional. The rooftop pool area was a highlight in theory, but it was closed for 3 out of the 6 days we stayed. Additionally, the water was very cloudy the first two days, so we only had one day where the pool was truly clean and usable. At checkout, I was told I would receive an itemized statement via email. I never received it, despite requesting it multiple times. Since returning home, I’ve reached out to the assistant front office manager several times (three emails and two voicemails), and have not received a single response. That said, I want to sincerely thank the food service staff, who were incredibly kind and attentive to our son with disabilities—we greatly appreciated their warmth and professionalism. I understand that mistakes happen—reservations can be mixed up, and maintenance issues arise. However, the complete lack of follow-up and communication after our stay has left a very negative impression. No apology, no explanation, and no compensation were offered. That alone says a lot about the level of customer service at this location. Unfortunately, I would avoid staying at this location at all costs.

Walking distance to everything

Nice hotel for river front only. First time is Savannah, the hotel was very nice, lots of food and things to see around. The room was clean and had enough room for a family with teenagers. If you are looking to do Historic District, it's a bit of a long walk to that area from here. Took about 30 mins walking to get to the Fountain at the Forsyth Park and other house toura in that area. Overall the hotel is nice, clean and updated.

Property was convenient for all things along the riverfront and the historic district. There is some construction in the area that has a minor impact on walking in that area.

Beautiful location on the river. GREAT for walking to attractions, historic areas, etc. Hotel parking was 45.00 a night. Breakfast was “meh”, but the staff tried hard! Room was perfect. Rooftop bar was super beautiful. Had live music and happy hour. Nice touch. Wish there had been a hot tub on rooftop. Maybe put a time restriction on children in the pool at night. Trying to relax with a drink and live music while screaming kids jumped and splashed water all over was not so appealing. Overall great stay. Would stay again!

The location of the hotel was great and very accessible to activities in the historic district. It is right on the river, and you can see ships going back and forth- very cool, actually. The staff was very friendly and helpful, and breakfast was very good. The only things I didn’t like were the parking, which was valet at $50 a day (convenient and friendly, surely), and self park was available but the garage charges hourly, and if you need to go out and come back it will keep charging each time; and they didn’t come to clean our room every day. The reason why I think it should have been is because we stayed in a suite with a kitchenette, so there was trash with food that would be smelling if not picked up. But, upon calling them, it was resolved.

The roof top bar is great! Suites are roomy, awesome shower water pressure, new big TV's and short safe walk to all the restaurants

Overall, we really enjoyed our stay! There were a few things that were a little frustrating, such as the beds being rather uncomfortable and the ceiling fan not working, but overall it was very nice. The environment is great, the location is perfect. I do wish that the parking were less cumbersome, but it IS River Street. It would be wonderful to see the Trolley system utilized specifically with the hotel so that visitors have more options for transportation. The rooftop pool and bar were cozy with excellent live music. The breakfast was amazing!

We really enjoyed our stay at Homewood. It was an updated, safe, very convenient to River Street hotel. What could make it even better? Less expensive valet parking. We didn't use it. There are city parking garages that are less expensive and the city garages do not charge on the weekends. 2) Breakfast was yummy but it was the same every day. Changing it up would be nice as well as having a pancake or waffle station. 3) no housekeeping unless you request it. While my husband loved the idea of not worrying about when housekeeping would arrive, I like a daily refresh of towels and light housekeeping. The hotel is not inexpensive, so a perk like this makes me happy. Overall a very nice stay. So many options in Savannah so it pays to do your research.

Great breakfast, friendly staff

The “included” breakfast was HORRIBLE! They ran out of everything by 9am. The hot food was cold. We had to eat out the other 2 days. The “clean towel” procedure was also terrible! Room service comes in and cleans your room but they don’t replenish your towels. You want clean towels, you have to go down to the front desk. Really?!? Never heard of this. Other than those things, the room was comfortable and quite nice.

Balcony was nice… room had some issues that needed to be fixed … Breakfast was ok same ole eggs and sausage… Parking was not the best .. but it’s like that all over Savannah…

Everything was great, except for the food at the Roof Top Bar and Restaurant. Bar and service were fine, but food was terrible.
