Capt Thomson's Resort

Loved being next to the Boat Tours as well as the private dock with lounger chairs. The pool was closed for repairs but theres plenty to do in walking distance to offset this. This is our 2nd time staying here but we will continue to come back. The rooms are clean, the staff is friendly and helpful, 10/10 would recommend. You can't beat their location.

Everything was excellent! Only gripe is the parking.

This Motel was right next to Uncle Sam Boat Tours which was our destination. This made it perfect for our trip. The only major detracting feature of this property is the lack of adequate on-site parking. It would be better to have a one to one, room to parking assignment and providing overflow parking for second and other additional vehicles staying in the same room.

the only drawback was the stairs - no elevator. we stayed on the 2nd floor; however, the view was excellent!

First impressions, carpet outside on way to room was very dirty. Our room was full of little bugs, as was the terrace. I had to ask for tissues and toilet paper. However, the staff was very friendly and helpful. The grounds were beautiful. The pool was very cold and they had some issues with it because it didnt open on time. We did however have a wonderful time.

Wonderful renovated property with a Nautical decor theme. Amazing views of the St. Lawrence River All the staff were responsive & friendly. The only drawback is the external entry and the insufficient parking. They offer an overflow lot…but it’s a walk to the rooms. Overall great stay….& would stay here again.

Very nice remodeled rooms. Great location and view. Walk to everything in town and located at the tour boat docks. Nice pool but not heated as advertised.

When I arrived there was no parking at all due to a wedding in the area. There should be at least one spot per room. The person who checked us in was very nice and accommodating. No issues there. The person working in the parking lot was very rude to my husband. We ended up walking pretty far with our luggage then had to wait til after many wedding guests left before we could bring the rest of our stuff to our room and get close. When we went into the room we were happy with the layout and balcony, but I was very surprised at the lack of cleanliness. The floor was very clearly not swept or mopped in a long time. The sink and mirror were gross, and untouched from previous guests. There were actually makeup removal pads left tucked behind the handles of the sink. The base of the toilet and behind the seat were dirty as well as the edges of the tub and surround. Any surface on tables or the AC unit all had to be wiped doen before i could relax, which I did myself. My sons feet were filthy within minutes of taking his shoes off. My sandals were sticking to the floor when i walked. The refrigerator had a carrot left in it from who knows how long ago and the freezer was disgusting. We ended up just using our cooler. I took a lot of pictures and videos, I was totally grossed out. For the most part the room was nice, I do strongly recommend they find new cleaners. I have never come across this much neglect ever in a hotel room. We have stayed at this hotel 3x

Very nice facility, but with extremely limited parking.

Clean room, bathroom. Balcony not so much. Could use a good sweep. Service friendly. In all it was a very pleasant experience for first time there. We liked the area, town. The river views are spectacular. We booked for next year already.

The bed was very comfortable, room very clean, great water pressure, nice view from the balcony, friendly and helpful staff. Will definitely stay again.

Beautiful view but balconys were quite littered with lots of dead bugs. Could have been cleaner.

Very clean and updated room. The bathroom in particular was very large and accessible. Balconies offer superb privacy and catchy view of the river.

We’ve stayed here before and have noticed the cleanliness isn’t really up to par but it was small things. This trip the floors were so sticky you had to wear shoes at all times. No one came to clean our room so by late afternoon I grabbed a broom and mop from the cart that had been sitting all day and did it myself. I also took the trash out and had to grab my own bags for the cans. After no one showed I asked a receptionist if they could at least just give us fresh towels and that didn’t happen either I had to go raid a maid cart for those. When I tried to tell them at the front desk upon check out she didn’t seem interested in hearing it or doing anything to make it right and only stated she’d let them know.

This property was absolutely perfect! The cleanliness of our room was like no other place we have ever stayed. The linens were spotlessly clean and you could smell freshness the minute you opened the door. The staff was friendly and answered all of our questions regarding the area. We are planning our next visit here already!

A bit outdated despite room make overs, bed very comfortable, bathroom clean, however the rest of area such as bugs on windowsill not vacuumed, bed made sloppily, bugs in light fixtures, stained chair, coffee available, bugs on deck not swept or controlled, tissue on windowsill someone used to kill bugs remained for our entire stay

Room was very nice, very spacious. Enjoyed the balcony overlooking the water. Location is great. Right next to Uncle Sam’s boat tours to take a shuttle to Boldt Castle.

We had NO internet for the entire 3 night stay. each time i went to the office i was told something different. i know it does not ruin a vacation but an inconvenience. Room was nice but mouse keeping not great. They brought towels, but did not make the bed. did not clean crumbs we got on floor.

We loved our room--bright, clean, and comfortable. The bed was super comfy--soft sheets and great pillows. Our favorite part was the balcony overlooking the river and Boldt Castle. We couldn't have asked for a better setting. Even though it was October and chilly, we spent a lot of time on the balcony enjoying the water and several times watching the big ships go by. It felt like we were on a cruise boat.

A beautiful and spacious room right on the St. Lawrence River overlooking Boldt Castle on Heart Island!

The staff at the front desk was very nice and friendly. The room was very clean and the bed and sofa was very comfortable. It had pretty good water view and so relaxing just sitting on the balcony. The only downside was the walking noise from upstairs. It was pretty loud and someone was walking even in the middle of the night and woke me up. We only hear one person walking and didn’t hear talking. Overall it was great stay. We’ll definitely come back but for the second floor.

Cute nautical decor. Excellent check-in experience. Desk clerk even booked our boat shuttle and tickets to Boldt Castle. Room was comfortable. We were on first floor and could hear creaking from upstairs.

Said they had free WiFi but it was so bad couldn’t stay connected for longer than a few seconds. Had a nice TV but such a poor cable plan that the picture quality was awful

the TV in the room was blurry and couldnt use Netflix and the wifi was spotty.

This is a great place to stay. The room was clean; it had all the amenities that we would want, including a refrigerator, TV, free Wi-Fi. We even had a little balcony with a water view, which was a surprise. The staff were informative, friendly, professional, and responsive. For example, at around 8:20 PM the first night we were there, we could not figure out how to work the TV remote; we left a voicemail on the hotel’s phone number. I figured probably that no one would hear it till the next morning. But within 10 minutes, someone was knocking on our door, who said he heard the voicemail and was here to help. The bed pillows were very comfortable. There was delicious, freshly brewed coffee in the lobby in the morning. Another thing that I liked is they have a strict quiet time in the hotel 10 PM to 9 AM; so you don’t have to worry about raucous neighbors making too much noise. We were in Alexandria Bay September 29 to October 1. One thing to note at that time of the year a lot of restaurants are closed for breakfast; a few were open for dinner. The town is kind of quiet, which I liked. Capt. Thomson’s has a restaurant across the street from the hotel, which is open for all meals; the meals were good and service was quick at the dinner and breakfast meal we had over there.

Room was clean and neat as expected. We arrived in Alexandria Bay 4 1/2 hrs before check in, and staff said it was fine to park our car on their lot. They put us on a priority list for Room availability while we toured local attractions. A little after 1:00 pm Gabrielle called and said our room was available. Great experience.

I've stay at Capt Thomson's 3 times, and will continue staying there in the future. Staff is wonderful, location is perfect, the rooms are very clean, and the beds and pillows are luxurious! We love it!

Great view from our Main Channel 2 Queen Bed room! The balcony included 2 seats and a table. There was one easy chair inside, and plenty of room to sit inside by the picture window with that chair and my husband's folding chair. We spent most of our evenings there watching the boats on the river. The staff was great. We were very happy with the location as well - we could park the car and walk anywhere we wanted, including boat tours, restaurants and shops.

Closest hotel to every thing. Could not be better. The tour boats are outside your window. The Boldt Castle is also outside your window.Guess what ,so are the restaurants. Can’t beat it. Staff very friendly. They also have a hidden gazebo behind the motel on the water . That’s a perfect spot to enjoy your morning coffee.

Excellent location, island tours right there, shopping and restaurants within walking with many options.

The hotel is located in a perfect spot right in town right close next to the uncle Sam boat tours. Close to shops and restaurants. Everything is in walking distance and nice views of Boldt castle. We’ll definitely stay here again.

Excellent place to stay, beautiful view of Boldt Castle across the canal. Cruises depart from here and great shopping. Only downside was lack of early Breakfast locations, Riley’s nearby is Nice location but hours are undependable and we had to leave with only a coffee and tea from Motel.

A great location for a short getaway. Boat tours next door. Riley’s restaurant very nearby was great and nice shops along James Street.

Quick, polite check in, with good review of parking and policies, led to great stay. Ideal location on waterfront with fantastic views of river, Boldt Castle and many other islands. Right next to Uncle Sam Boat Tours/taxi to Boldt (highly recommend) and Blu Anchor bar/grill (good food and drink). Easy walk up James St to shops and more "pitstops". Note: Alex Bay is a summer season tour town. Many bars, restaurants close down by late Sept. Room was clean, well equipped, spacious and comfortable. Would definitely stay again.

Great location for a river view and an easy walk to dining and shopping. Especially convenient if you plan to take an Uncle Sam’s boat tour. Rooms seem to be recently remodeled. they are nicely decorated, and spacious enough for comfort. Excellent view of Boldt Castle from this property.

Very impressed with our experience here at this hotel. The room was very clean, housekeeping was friendly. I may ave misread but there is not a restaurant on site. Theres plenty of restaurants in the area though.

We stayed for 2 nights and were very happy with the resort! There are several restaurants and small shops within walking distance of the resort. Our room had that fresh, clean feeling. There is a fridge and freezer but no microwave. Also a k-cup coffee maker, hair dryer, iron and ironing board in the room. Our room had a small private balcony that overlooked the water. A nice touch but the weather was cool so we didn’t use it. Check in and out was quick and easy, the staff that we interacted with were very helpful and friendly! The parking lot is a bit small, we got the last spot in the front parking area the first night and had to use the overflow lot the 2nd night. Both nights we got back to the resort after 11pm. They don’t offer any type of breakfast which we knew before booking but the cafes more than made up for that. Overall I was very happy and if we go back to the 1000 islands again we would stay there.
