Navona Theatre Hotel

The hotel itself was great - room easily accommodated our family of 4, and the staff were some of the best we had come across in our European tour. Taxi/Uber can't drop you to the door due to entrance being in an alleyway. Most would drop you in neighbouring roads, but on our arrival the taxi dropped us on the other side of Navona square with our suitcases and told us he couldn't take us any further and to walk across the square and to find the hotel. I suspect we had one of the worst drivers on arrival (also tried to overcharge us/demand cash). Handy to Navona square and many many great restaurants. No issues walking to lots of attractions including the Colosseum. Only downside is we found the surrounding area to be quite dirty, lots of litter and graffiti and on first arriving didn't feel that safe. We felt safer over the days and the dirt/litter/graffiti seemed to be all over Rome so not isolated to this area. One of the biggest issues in the neighbourhood was the sound of rubbish being removed and people in the alleyways during the night.

first floor room with uneven floor and bars on the window was not very inviting. Lighting on the night stands was a bare very ugly bulb. Pillows were horrible. On a particular dirty ally. Nice folks running it but would not stay again. NO SERVICE AFTER 10 PM DOORS LOCKED AND YOU HAVE TO USE A CARD TO ENTER WHICH WAS SO SO.

Great location near piazza Navona, difficult to find , down a dark side alley . Breakfast good. Staff is welcoming. Room small . Bed on platform, watch out for sharp corners on stairs to bed. No place for luggage. Would not stay again

I liked the location the most, the room we had had good AC, it was roomy compared to similar location and other hotels. It is close to many sites and they have a bar/breakfast area. Beds were clean and comfy

Super close to food and drinking area, but a bit hard to get to with large luggage. Not the easiest to find taxis, but around 5ish min walking distance. The property was cool. A boutique hotel with one floor and decent rooms with AC and a big bathroom.

Great room but difficult to access. We had large bags since this was just a small part of an extended trip. The stairs were difficult and the elevator didn’t work. The front office, Marko helped take them to our room but we had to get them down. Also, we needed the office at 7:00 since we had an appointment for a tour of t the Vatican and could not get in or get in touch with anyone.

Location was great. Room was smaller than expected and steps to reach the elevated stairs didn’t feel safe, especially being a senior a hand rail would have been nice.

If the only available room are the Annex, don’t book it. Stayed at the actual Navona Theatre Hotel twice before and had a pleasant stay. The annex on the other hand was closer to the Piazza but conditions of the room are unsatisfactory. The building it’s in is dirty and seemed unsafe - lots of foot traffic due to it sharing entrances with multiple airBNBs and hostel style like rooms. There is an elevator but you have to take 20 stair steps before getting to it. And then when you exit the elevator, you have to take another 15 steps down to the entrance of the rooms. It was confusing. Definitely a No- No in the future. And I am speaking as an Expedia Platinum.

OK! With a few “comments”. We recently visited and booked for the annexe room. This was two roads away from the main hotel in a separate building called the Antonis hotel, on the second floor. Practicality wise with a baby, I wouldn’t book this room again. The stone pebbles with a pram from the main hotel to this room was quite difficult also with luggage and also the fact this room was on the second floor meant we had to climb to the first floor to get the lift (only fits 1 pram and 1 adult). The lift also didn’t stop exactly on the same floor as the room so we had to take a flight down the stairs to reach the room with pram etc. The hallways of the Antonis building hotel were so hot. You are sweltering when doing all the above manoeuvres. The room was very clean and nice. We liked it. A nice touch would have been if the hotel turned on the air conditioning prior to arrival so we could come to a cold room. Nonetheless it didn’t take more than 5 minutes to get cool but after the hallways of the building - you get to the room quite hot and bothered. Also, we booked with a baby and there was no cot bed. We were told we had to request this, I wasn’t aware. This would have been nice to have already been put in our room as the hotel knew we had an under 1. Nonetheless he slept with us and the bed was big enough (2 singles put together). The bed was comfortable. Breakfast was a let down. Poor choices. The orange juice was fizzy (I didn’t say anything). Doesn’t matter.

When our taxi driver dropped us off as this alley where the lobby was, we were shocked because the lobby was down a dark, graffiti-laden alley and the lobby was just the only door down the alley....the girl receptionist was very nice and she said that we were going to be in the annex, which was 2 streets down, which she had us follow her down the street....our keys unlocked this large double-door that didn't have any sign on them as to being the Novana Hotel Annex, but it opened to a room with about 20 steps up to this tiny elevator...we had to lug our 4 large suitcases up the steps and go up the elevator to the next floor, and then lug them down about 15 steps down to the landing where our room was...our room key opened another large door to where there was about 6 rooms, and then our key got us into room #3...the room was very nice with a view down the street...it was very quiet until about 7:30 every morning to be woken up by another guest leaving their room and slamming their door shut...the doors sounded like a bomb going off, so we didn't sleep in at all the 6 mornings.....we had so many suitcases because we were on 3 different cruise ships in the USA and did a trans-Atlantic cruise from Florida to Rome and spent a week in Rome......NOW THE GOOD PART OF STAYING AT THE HOTEL.....the annex was the BEST location we could have imagined in Rome....we walked out the doors to a vibrant atmosphere of restaurants, coffee shops, stores, a pharmacy and Rome life!!!!...

Comfortable accommodations, spotlessly clean, wonderful breakfast, helpful and gracious staff, in a lively but quiet location, walking distance to all of the places of interest — ticks all of the boxes!!!!

Navona Theatre is, well, a slightly sh**ty hotel. It probably made a nice impression when it first opened as it has a clean, modern aesthetic, but every item in the place is terribly cheap. so it is now chipped, a little dingy, and worn. The housekeeping was a little lacking as well (The bathroom needed a going over. The benefit of the modern style and cheap fittings is that it is rather easy to wipe down compared to older more ornate places that can acquire layers of grime.) There is mold beginning in the shower corners and the caulking is worn down, the rooms are a hair depressing, and it's just not going to be a special or memorable stay as far as the hotel... BUT (big but), the staff is extremely nice, the location is wonderful. (You can walk to some of the best restaurants in Rome in literally 2 minutes.) and the price is better than many places. While the price may be a little lower for a reason, we all can't spend $300 a night to visit the eternal city and there are far worse hotels at this price point, let alone ones in such an ideal location. (The street is pretty darn quiet for Rome!). For that reason, I wouldn't count this hotel out. It's well worth it to be in such a great place and you can have a reasonably pleasant stay here as long as you aren't expecting modern luxury.

If you need minimum quiet to sleep, DO NOT stay here! Although the location is great, you pay for it with the teeming swarms of absolutely animalesque "visitors" who yelp and scream until two am when the "party" then moves to the adjacent Piazza Navona which is allowed to turn into a rave party. I have never slept so badly in my life. Regarding the sructure: we had a room in the annex; it was very small but we were trying to economize so I wasn't shocked to see how small it was and I also don't think it was quantified on the site. The bathroom had moldy smell and an icky moldy corner of the shower which was gross. The room is located on a 2nd floor which, after walking up a flight of stairs then down a flight of stairs can be reached with an elevator, but it was easier to walk the two flights of stairs. The room is located in a converted apartment which has a small entry way leading to three room. They are electronically operated with a key card and the mechanism is very noisy. Thankfully the other guests were quite polite and only once did I hear them chatting as they returned home however it seems impossible not to make a lot of noice opening the doors and one feels the reverberations from the closing of the apartment door and the room doors.The building is an ancient beautiful old building and it must have been quite something before Rome turned into a massive rave destination for unruly drunken soccer fans acting out (adults not just young people.)nice receptionist

Though this is a very basic hotel, we had a great experience. The hotel staff was amazing. Very friendly, very accommodating. The rooms are very basic but clean. Really good air conditioning, it was very hot in Rome. The hotel is on a small side alley, so it’s very quiet. They serve a decent breakfast. The biggest asset is the location. We were about 20 to 30 minutes, walking distance from the Vatican, the Colosseum, and the Jewish ghetto. There were numerous restaurants just minutes from the hotel, the beautiful Piazza Navona is literally two minutes away. I would highly recommend this hotel

Hidden gem right next to piazza navona. Walkable to a lot of great restaurants and sights. We were able to walk to all the main tourist attractions in Rome with ease. Very clean and surprisingly quiet for the middle of Rome. Excellent stay

The room was good and great location. AC worked well and room was in good condition. Bed was a bit hard and pillows a bit thin, but other than that good overall.

Location for the property is amazing and it is very easily accessible to very touristy places. The room we were in was a bit outdated, could be updated with paint. The worst thing was it had mosquitoes and the room we were given (which was not the one booked) was on the ground floor and beside a courtyard and right next to reception. It was a bit noisy but we remedied that with a white noise playlist. Overall, we just wanted a clean place to stay and we wanted to get around with ease.

This room is just OK. It was the least favorite hotel of the 7 hotels I stayed in during my 2 week trip of Italy and Switzerland. We were assigned the only room on the first floor, right next to the lobby. It was a bit loud at times as we could hear everything going on in the lobby. The room was fine, but nothing fancy or special for the price. I am thankful it did have AC!

Large, modern and clean room refreshed every day with working air con. Fantastic location with lots going on in every direction, we walked everywhere within 5-15 minutes. Very helpful staff. We had a quiet room despite it being very busy around the corner. Hope to return one day.

The location is perfect. Room was a bit run down. Windows are paper thin so you can hear everything outside.

Really nice hotel. Can be difficult to find as it is on a side street and isn’t attached to the main hotel, but once you find it it is great. Quiet and nice rooms.

A small hotel with rooms set under the vaulted ceiling of an old disco (and we assume theatre). Quiet, modern and a warm welcome. Excellent location with plenty of choice for bars and restaurants close by. Good quality buffet breakfast.

Navona Theatre Hotel is where we stay whenever we are in Rome. It is in a delightful, busy area, especially handy to restaurants. This time for our first night we were put in a room just above a pub and had noise all night long! However when we asked to be changed Marco was able to put us in a nearby room that was very quiet. Thank goodness! So this turns out to be a positive review about staff helpfulness.

Staff and location were both excellent.

From the moment we arrived at the property, we were made to feel at home. The rooms were as expected, could perhaps use some updating, but overall good experience. We were provided an overview of the surrounding area, given a walkthrough of our room, HVAC remote, etc. Since we had an early flight out the next day, they offered to prepare a box-breakfast for us since we were going to miss it. We've never had a hotel offer to do this in years of travel, and the box breakfast was delightful. Their service is as good as any we received in Italy.

It is a small property nothing extraordinary. But staff is friendly and helpful and goes above and beyond to make your visit comfortable. So overall experience was 5 star.

Great location for exploring on foot. Front desk personnel were amazing-helped us haul luggage from the taxi 1/2 a block away, delivered luggage upstairs to our room. Very good customer service!

If you book this hotel do not pay in advance. When we arrived they told us they didn’t have a room for us and asked if we could stay at a similar property. That property was not nearly as nice even though both were three stars. When we discussed this the staff was dismissive about it. We ended up paying for another room last minute due to this.

We had 5 amazing nights in Rome at the Navona theatre hotel. The staff were all very friendly and welcoming upon our arrival and our room was ready prior to check in time which was a pleasant surprise. Housekeeping staff were also fantastic. The central location also meant that we did not rely on taxis or public transport at all during our stay. Everything that we wanted to do/see was within a walkable distance. I would recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Rome

The staff was very helpful! Although finding this was difficult because it is truly “off the beaten track” it is perfectly located to be able to walk to almost all of the important sites in Rome!

Hotellet var beliggende i en smuk gammel bygning. Personalet var venlige og meget hjælpsomme. Værelset var meget småt, Men havde alle de faciliteter, der var beskrevet. Der var meget lydt i bygningen. Vi kunne høre naboernes samtaler. Morgenmaden bestod primært af et stort kageudvalg. Det brød, der var, var kedeligt og tørt, og pålægget var smagsløst.

O hotel é muito bem localizado, o atendimento é ótimo, café da manhã é pequeno mas bom, quartos bons. Apenas como observação deveria ser informado antes de fazer a reserva que o café da manhã só começa às 8 horas e portanto fica quase inviável de tomar devido as atrações de Roma. Também devia ser informado que não entra carro na rua e portanto tem que caminhar com as malas.

The Hotel is located in a great location with plenty of bars and restaurants within a few blocks. If you are considering a room rate that includes breakfast I would highly suggest including breakfast. There were lots of items to choose from and everything was fresh. Thanks for a great stay!
