This was our second stay at the Hahndorf Old Mill Hotel and we will be back again. Reasonably priced and very clean this time we were lucky enough to get a room with a spa. The staff are always amazing and the bar has a host of beers on tap and a full kitchen with great food.

Beds were extremely comfortable & room was spacious. Our room had a spa which you had to step into to shower. Should have been notified in case of mobility problems.

Staff member Nanette that was in the bar was just fantastic, good at her job , funny , efficient..The evening meal was just beautiful everyone on our table were very impressed… The motel rooms need an overhaul they are old , and the stairs to get to the rooms are ridiculous to steep.. No lift !!! which makes it hard with big suitcase/ bags .. need more lighting in the motel passage way in the morning it was pitch dark …

Parking was easy, location is on the main strip, we stayed in the upstairs rooms which were part of the original building.

It is in a good location with onsite parking. We stayed in an upstairs room and one section of stairs quite steep and the first landing quite precarious under foot. Room very rundown and in need of a big reno. Ok for a quick overnight stay.

Room was in good condition however the shower is in the bath so you have to be able to step in. Staff were extremely helpful and friendly.

The condition of the room was dirty. Dirty marks on doors, carpets stained, wood work was blistered and veneer flaking off, mould in shower cubicle, when shower turned on it squirted was from wall joint, carpets edges had not been vacuumed, cupboard doors were coming off hinges, the mattress was stuffed (had collapsed - might as well slept on the floor), window had gap between it. no sanitary basket, condition of mirrors were marked, curtains had hems partly down, when you flushed the toilet it made a very loud noise like a siren going off, curtains should be block outs so that the outside lights (turned off at 2.10 am) don't shine into the room. No safe car parking. Anyone could wonder in off the street and check out the cars. Absolutely disgusting

Close to shops and restaurants was good. Didn't like the bed as it was falling off the base. The room needed a good vacuum. Bathroom needs a good scrub.

The property was cute but sheets were marked and there was a very strong deodorant smell on arrival

Room unclean. Broken bedside light, broken tv remote, limited channels, dirty bedside tables, filthy carpet, dirty cups, loud unworkable bathroom fan, dirty mirrors, thin towels. Holes in walls.

We booked this place as it was centrally located on the main street close to the attractions & cafes. Immediately upon arrival we noticed that the room was old, stuffy & run-down and badly in need of a paint job. There were large cracks & cobwebs on the walls, the carpet was old and patchy in places. We were excited for a spa bath after our long drive from Melbourne but then noticed that there were used mini shampoo & conditioner bottles as well as used soap left by the bathtub. The towels were not fresh.The toilet had not been flushed & was disgusting. Basically the bathroom had not been cleaned. We immediately went to let the front desk know.As we checked in late at night, the girl at the front desk, even though shocked, said she will let the cleaners know in the morning. She provided us with clean towels...but we reluctantly only had a shower after our long trip. We couln't wait to leave...not recommended at all.

The property was pretty dated. A bit tired & rough around the edges. But it was clean, the bed was comfy, the room was warm (when it was very cold outside) & the shower was great - one of the best ever in a hotel.

Room was fine but bed was very uncomfortable. The bed base seemed to be smaller than the mattress making the edges of the bed feel like you were falling out of bed

Many free to air tv channels eg7 network not available and apparently accepted by owners.Only 1 sugar for coffee.Had to wait till 3 pm to check in.Having stayed here before,the standard is slipping

While this hotel is in a super convenient location, the rooms above the hotel are in incredibly poor condition and need a combination of repairs and updates. The bed was truly awful. The mattress was ancient with springs that poked out and creaked with every movement. The mattress also didn't seem to fit properly on the base properly so it constantly felt like you were falling off the edge. I had a dreadful night sleep and might have fared better on the floor. The bed head was extremely scratched and resembled something from the scene of an exorcism. I fear to imagine the terrible things that happened in this room previously where something had tried to escape. Things were there but mostly didn't mork. The lamp didn't work, the tv remote didn't work and the tap behind the toilet was leaking. If it couldn't get worse, the small window had a thin curtain that didn't block the exterior flood light that was shining straight into the window that lit up the entire room. Due to the previous comments on the bed, I was awake and can confirm the flood light is turned off at around 2:45am. There were some positives. The ceiling, which you will stare at, had an authentic German look to it and the staff were friendly, but you had to check in and talk to them in the pokie room of the hotel.

Nice location. Walls thin as, can practically hear everything the guests are saying next door. Light as day during the night with stained glass windows in the doors that can't be covered.

Was expecting a room in an old mill but it was a very old building in a car park. Room was in need of refurbishment.

We enjoyed our overnight stay. Central to the town sites, cafes and shopping precinct. We had a problem with our first room, tv & internet wasn’t functioning. We were immediately given another room. Excellent customer service by the duty manager. Meals were excellent in the dining room. Would definitely stay again.

No reception desk to checkin and when we were finally able to speak to a staff member we were barely acknowledged and made to feel an inconvenience On arrival to room, no milk, no soap and no shampoo

Great location some renovations that will improve the ad hoc nature of the reception and front "Dome" area that didn't have a huge impact on the service and ease to get around. The staff were amazing and friendly. We had great personal service from Sara for overall quality and friendliness including a tour of proposed changes. Sara was aided by the lovely Abbey and Lauren at the bar.

Enjoyed a lovely overnight stay during a long weekend at The Old Mill. Clean and comfortable rooms, friendly and helpful staff and a seamless check in and check out process.

Unfortunately, the check in procedure was very poor. The signage to Reception took us to the bar where we waited several minutes before being pointed in the direction of a cafe with a desk in the corner. The young person who checked us in didn’t seem to know what they were doing and needed to take my credit card out of my sight, to another office, to key into a different computer for incidentals. I received a phone call 5 hours later from the manager reminding me I had a booking and needed to check in! Obviously the earlier person hadn’t put the paperwork through properly. The room facilities were ok, though the bed wasn’t very comfortable and there was a lot of light coming through the curtains overnight.

Staff were amazing, room was great.

Staff were very friendly and helpful. When I said I couldn’t stay in the small room we had booked because I felt claustrophobic, they immediately changed us to a much higher room at no extra cost. There was a water leak in the bathroom which we reported the next morning to the very helpful and friendly Nanette who also recommended a great place for us to have breakfast.

Nice place. Rooms old and ran down, but clean. The worst part of arriving here is there are No Signs letting you know where the guest reception is!! It’s hidden in the pokies area!! But I love the location and the staff. Will definitely return

Hotel was in a good location in the heart of Hahndorf. I booked an upstairs room but was upgraded to the ground floor chalet. Room was spacious with lots of bench space. Bed was comfortable. Bathroom was a decent size with a corner spa. Good lighting in the room. Lots of parking. Staff were great and no issues with check in which was later in the evening.

The property is located in the heart of Hahndorf. Easy walking to many restaurants and gift shops. It is a cute quaint historic town. There are wineries if you enjoy a nice drop. Check in was very easy and the room very comfortable. Would stay again.

Hahndorf is a lovely little busy tourism town and on weekends is very busy so The Old meal is a great place to stay as it makes it easy parking and then you can walk up and down the street without being too far away from your accommodation. Our room was clean and comfortable for the age of the hotel. We had a spa room upstairs in the actual hotel. If you have hip or knee problems it has a few steps that are quite steep so would suggest getting a different room if you have any walking issues. we have stayed at the Old meal many times and would go back. Check-in was reasonably easy other than we had to go into the pokey room to book in not the bar as we usually do.

Great location. Right in the heart of Hahndorf.

I caught a metro bus from Adelaide for about $2 and the bus stopped right at the front of the hotel. Everything is walkable - it is 800 metres to the far end of town, with dozens of bars, cafes and quirky shops in between.

Very convenient for a stay in Hahndorf.

Mezzanine spa chalet was amazing, staff were so bright and bubbly ,so helpful, food in restaurant was amazing

If you are looking for a very basic room that is close to some YUMMY pub food, has exceptionally lovely Staff and is walking to the Main street for Hahndorf, then this Hotel is PERFECT! The room itself was extremely basic, but the bed was comfy, the amenities worked and there was a heater. What made this a place hubby and I will return to is its staff and its food. The staff are just amazingly lovely, they try to help out as much as they can, and they treat each other with respect! I was pleasantly surprised to hear them constantly and consistently thank each other, speak respectfully to each other and even compliment each other - sometimes in the same sentence. And the food was so yummy! Yes it is the basic Pub Food - but it was done well and the prices were right. This will definitely be a hotel that we will return to for our weekend escape to Hahndorf!

Food at hotel was excellent and the location was fantastic. Walkable to all of the shops.Room was also very spacious and had all the facilities we required.Just a little tired in some places of the room.

We stayed in a heritage room upstairs and overlooking the street. The room, staircase and corridors were a bit dated but probably to be expected in an old building. That said the bathroom was new and included a spa bath. Very nice. The bed was new and very comfortable. I probably would have liked a bit more lighting around the bed for reading. The meals in the dining room were tasty and good value. The location is very good for shopping. We could hear soft music playing outside in the evening and a bit of traffic in the morning, but it was very quiet overnight and we had no trouble sleeping
