The location is great as it is connected to the station. Facilities are well maintained, lounge is convenient for a nice cuppa of coffee. However, the hotel is more for business traveller and for short stay, there is no coin laundry facility thus it’s a bit inconvenient if needed self service laundry for family with kids.

仙台駅から直結で、JR系のため駅の構内にもたくさん案内や経路指示があったので、非常に便利でした。シングルルームもベッドはクィーンサイズ以上、広さも十分あり、何よりバスルームとトイレ、洗面が別々で、バスタブの外に洗い場もあるのが最高でした。歩き疲れたあとゆっくりお風呂に入れたし、朝日が差し込む景色もよかったです。アメニティも充実していましたが、ところどころ埃が残っていて、そこが残念ポイント。

They had a great breakfast buffet with a nice selection of both east and western foods Great bathroom setup. The wet room (shower in room plus tub) was spa like. The separate Japanese toilet was great. Good location The only real issues we had were that the room itself was very narrow without much storage. Also the Japanese TV only had one channel (CNN) for English speakers and not the usual selection of movies and such Americans expect.

Nice hotel adjacent Sendai train station. Very convenient. Nice room and larger than the Ginza hotel we were just at. Very reasonable - three nights was about equivalent to one Ginza night. Tub with separate modern shower was decent size. Sink area small for our two sets of toiletries. We really like this hotel and would return.

All was well till it was time for check out. The staff that day all seem to be not so good mood and were rather curt when we asked for help with luggage and luggage storage for just 2 hours this marred an otherwise good experience.

This is a superb hotel I will likely return to. The rooms are clean, the overall hotel seems new and very well maintained. The breakfast was very good. The one aspect I found irritating was the hotel’s 11:00 AM check-out requirement – when 12:00 is far more reasonable. I asked to check out at 11:30 and they said there would be an extra charge. Also, when I arrived at about 2:15 PM I was told check-in is at 3:00 PM and if I wanted to check-in at 2:15 there would be an extra charge. I appreciate hotels are businesses that must make a profit but pettiness like that can reasonably alienate customers. For me, I’ll comment on this pettiness which I hope will be eliminated and not consider it in my ratings as I thought this was an otherwise superb hotel.

Last week stay here I gave 5 stars. This week’s stay I give it 3 stars. This week the check-in process was a disaster and a sign of poor management. And serves as a warning to hotel guests pre-arrival. I arrived at 1pm with a 3pm check-in time, no worries, checked in at the counter, passports and all, put luggage in storage and went out to enjoy the city and return back at 3pm. Thought I’d give them until 4pm so when I arrived the hotel it was at least 50 people in a cue/line waiting to check-in with the instructions to get to the back of the line. Left us furious. Though fully checked in at 1pm the hotel never took advantage of the fact that they could have been ahead of the game and issued room keys which would have cut this check-in process to a half or a third. I was told this happens every weekend. So warning if you are checking in on the weekend. This is not a language issue, it’s not a cultural issue, it’s a hotel management issue that can be solved if they put their head around it, but management seems unmotivated and the issue will continue.

The JR Metropolitan Hotel is excellent – and an excellent value for the money. The hotel is extremely convenient – right at the Sendai JR Main Station – but I’ve never found it noisy from the trains or otherwise. The rooms are clean and the service is excellent. The breakfast is decent – good enough to go with the convenience. However, as you are right at the Main JR station which includes an “SPAL” shopping area with many food choices, those who are a little adventurous will find many good (and less expensive) options. In sum, an excellent hotel where I look forward to staying again.

I was amazed that I could see the Shinkansen from my room, but not hear it at all. The soundproofing is superb. The hotel connects to the train station with everything you might need. I was a little disappointed by breakfast. Crowded and not the quality I’d hoped for. Probably won’t opt for it here next time.

Located on the east end of Sendai Station, this hotel was super convenient. There is lots of shopping and dining options near by and the big shopping district is only about a 15 minute walk away. Staff was friendly! My only issue is the included breakfast didn’t have a lot of options for vegetarians/vegans. And allergy labels didn’t include fish/shell fish as the miso soup had mussels in it but didn’t show the allergy indicator.
