Enjoyed the facilities (including the use of the larger sister resort). Brilliant meals. However, we lost a pair of earrings that was placed inside a cupboard and we discovered missing when packing up.

Nice and quaint ryokan with free shuttle service. The tourist information centre can help to contact them for you when you arrive. We booked the only room with an outdoor onsen and bathroom as we were travelling with a toddler. All other rooms don’t have any private toilets. Dinner was amazing and served at sister ryokan 5 minutes walk away. Breakfast was served downstairs. The staff were always smiling and ready to help. Very friendly and welcoming ambiance. Only complaints — room aircon, air purifier/humidifier and fridge were quite noisy throughout the night; some stains on the pillow case; toilet wasn’t well ventilated.

A nice option for a ryokan stay in Arima-Onsen. The ryokan is very nice, the lobby itself is decorated in western style although the rooms are tatami. Kotori has an private indoor bath with a silver onsen, the gold onsen is a public bath located on the roof level at Hanamusubi, their sister hotel down the street and is free to use for Kotori guests. Dinner and breakfast were both traditional Japanese style meals and were very impressively presented and delicious. Dinner is served at Hanamusubi and breakfast is served at Kotori. The local main street and its shops are also a short walk away. The town of Arima Onsen is a bit hilly, but if that is an issue for you then Kotori offers pickup by car from the local train or bus stations. Highly recommended if you are looking for an ryokan & onsen experience in Arima Onsen!
