We walked from the train station, as we'd spent over 10 hours on the train from Ella. At the time of us arriving at the hotel, a large Porsche also arrived. The Porsche customer got his bags carried in, and a senior member of staff book them in. We went to the front desk, having carried our own bags and was checked in by a surly member of staff who said very little apart from asking for our name and if we wanted breakfast. He slapped the keycard on the counter and that was it. We asked where the lift was and he waved an arm to the left as he continued with something else. We got to the lift and pressed the floor level. Nothing happened and then the doors opened. The senior member of staff who had checked Mr.Porsche in told us that we needed to touch our keycard to a sensor for the lift to work. I also noticed he had Mr.Porsche's bags with him. So, instead of being given a little bit of help and information from the front desk, we ended up being very dismayed. Our room was on the 8th floor, just below the outdoor restaurant. Through till 1:30am, customers dragged the metal chairs back and forth. Then, from before 7am, the staff rearranged the chairs for the breakfast customers. As we were only there for 2 nights, we realised after the checking in issues, we thought we'd get nowhere. After that, things improved. The staff the next morning were a delight, and very helpful. And when we left our bags were loaded into the taxi.

After that, things improved. The staff the next morning were a delight, and very helpful. And when we left our bags were loaded into the taxi.

The hotel is a nice discovery and a modern interior with a heritage exterior. Even the parking is underground that takes your car on an elevator. I enjoyed the facilities except a few downs. One is they don’t have an iron in the room, even the one they brought on request didn’t work. The housekeeping was requested to do the cleaning towards the evening but they didn’t show up. We asked for two plates and cutleries, cutleries were clean but the plates looked as if they didn’t wash them. Overall a positive stay.

The location is very good. The room was clean. Staff - friendly & helpful. Free parking for my rental car. And on this particular day I got a good room rate on Expedia, which was key.

We flew into Colombo and reserved a pickup through the hotel. Although we were almost an hour late our driver was there awaiting us. Vehicle was clean and comfortable and the drive into the city uneventful. Upon arrival at the hotel we were made to feel more than welcome, checking was quick and we were shown to our room. Although it was smaller than most we have stayed in it was very clean and not rundown in appearance. The staff was more than helpful in providing an explanation if the area and directions to various places in the vacinity. Checkout was equally easy and transport made available to the cruise port. Anyone planning a trip to Colombo I would definitely recommend staying here.

Great location in Fort, excellent facilities, friendly staff. The breakfast was not included in our reservation, and it was not worth the price. Lots of options, but uneven for a four star hotel: in a tropical country, only mediocre papaya and watermelon as fruits, and industrial juices? Margherine instead of butter? And the tech side (robots for room service) is a silly gimmick.

The staff at Fairway Colombo are lovely! They always greet you with a smile and try to accommodate any requests. For me they put me in a quieter room away from street noise and allowed me late check out. Unfortunately there was some construction work going on, on the roof, which did disturb me a little, and my room smelt slightly damp when I entered as a result of what I assumed was split water on the carpet, this dried out overnight and the next day the room smelt fine. The rooms themselves are very nice and the shower is amazing! Despite the construction noise and wet carpet I enjoyed my stay at Fairway and would recommend it for a short stay.

We stayed here on two separate occasions. We found the desk staff very good and the rooms are clean and comfortable. We would like to see the hotel remove the small plastic cups of water in the room and replace with a filtered water fountain on each floor. Overall a good place to stay and very close to The Ministry of Crab. With regards to the restaurant, it is a tacky, bleak environment with awful food for breakfast. After 2 weeks travelling around the island, this was by far the worst food we had. Room service is food from the ordinary cafe next door. Apart from the Ministry, access to nearby good food is a challenge.

If only all hotels were as good as the Fairway. The staff are exceptional. Friendly, efficient and super helpful. Congratulations to management on their excellent training The rooms are well appointed with fresh bedding and linen daily.

If we wouldn’t have had a room across the party area with music until midnight I would give them one more star. The rooms are very good, clean, the mattresses very good. They advertise the rooms with best sleep and breathtaking view over the city. Both didn’t happen for us. (1st floor and party, unfortunately). The desk staff doesn’t really care about that if you stay just one night. Once there, quickly gone again. So why bother. The 5th star is missing because the breakfast area is busy and the staff is not able to clean the table for new guests, we had to do it ourselves. It took ages to refill the coffee dispenser or the milk jug. The hotel is good if you are a partygoer yourself, noise doesn’t disturb your sleep or you are able to catch rooms in the higher floors.

Our room was on the 8th floor, just below the outdoor restaurant. Through till 1:30am, customers dragged the metal chairs back and forth. Then, from before 7am, the staff rearranged the chairs for the breakfast customers. As we were only there for 2 nights, we realised after the checking in issues, we thought we'd get nowhere. After that, things improved. The staff the next morning were a delight, and very helpful. And when we left our bags were loaded into the taxi.

We flew into Colombo and reserved a pickup through the hotel. Although we were almost an hour late our driver was there awaiting us. Vehicle was clean and comfortable and the drive into the city uneventful. Upon arrival at the hotel we were made to feel more than welcome, checking was quick and we were shown to our room. Although it was smaller than most we have stayed in it was very clean and not rundown in appearance. The staff was more than helpful in providing an explanation if the area and directions to various places in the vacinity. Checkout was equally easy and transport made available to the cruise port. Anyone planning a trip to Colombo I would definitely recommend staying here.

Well located. All amenities at hand when you know where to find them. Close to station, Pettah market and shopping areas. Very good standard on rooms, clean and friendly & helpful staff. Very happy with my choice of hotel.

Lots of options, but uneven for a four star hotel: in a tropical country, only mediocre papaya and watermelon as fruits, and industrial juices? Margherine instead of butter? And the tech side (robots for room service) is a silly gimmick.

We stayed here on two separate occasions. We found the desk staff very good and the rooms are clean and comfortable. We would like to see the hotel remove the small plastic cups of water in the room and replace with a filtered water fountain on each floor. Overall a good place to stay and very close to The Ministry of Crab. With regards to the restaurant, it is a tacky, bleak environment with awful food for breakfast. After 2 weeks travelling around the island, this was by far the worst food we had. Room service is food from the ordinary cafe next door. Apart from the Ministry, access to nearby good food is a challenge.

Had a good short stay at The Fairway with the family. Hotel is very centrally located in Colombo. So, quite convenient. Breakfast was included, but don’t expect the typical buffet you will find in other hotels here. The hotel is good for short, economical stays within a budget.

If we wouldn’t have had a room across the party area with music until midnight I would give them one more star. The rooms are very good, clean, the mattresses very good. They advertise the rooms with best sleep and breathtaking view over the city. Both didn’t happen for us. (1st floor and party, unfortunately). The desk staff doesn’t really care about that if you stay just one night. Once there, quickly gone again. So why bother. The 5th star is missing because the breakfast area is busy and the staff is not able to clean the table for new guests, we had to do it ourselves. It took ages to refill the coffee dispenser or the milk jug. The hotel is good if you are a partygoer yourself, noise doesn’t disturb your sleep or you are able to catch rooms in the higher floors.

Oir stay was excellent from checking in, to exchanging monetly, to getting us a taxi it was excellent service all the way. Room was really good & food in the restaurant excellent. It was positioned in a great place we could walk everywhere easily & even had a fabulous traditional thai massage just round the corner.

All in all a great place to stay and located well for Galle Face. My family are Sri Lankan and what struck me was the ridiculous prices for Tuk Tuks outside the hotel, one offered a ride for 1,000 rupees, but reduced to 800 when i laughed. The ride if you walked to the main road and grabbed one would be 300 to 500. So that annoyed me. The food choice for breakfast was somewhat disappointing. They do not serve full English or even half English. The hotel itself is pretty basic, very clean and the staff will go out of there way for you, which is why i rate them so highly. It was a much lower cost alternative to the major hotels in Galle Face, but I am glad we stayed here and I would stay again. Well located to access the Galle Face Mall and all it has to offer, 15 mins walk or 15 minutes my Tuk Tuk. The hotel is tightly packed in between a plethora of buildings and can be difficult to find on the little one way single car streets, but s said it is in a great location.
