Irish College Leuven

No frills and excellent stay! The rooms were very clean, the breakfast was good, and it was near many amenities.

Our trip happened during an unprecedented heatwave in Belgium. The temperatures reached 38-44 degrees Celsius. The Irish College Leuven building does not have air conditioning and despite having the windows open the entire time, the room was so hot that sleeping was impossible. It was literally like a sauna inside. I felt real physical discomfort while I was lying in bed, sweating, and trying to fall asleep. I didn’t get much sleep that night. The temperature in the bathroom was even higher, even the plastic toilet seat was warm when you sat down. Irish College Leuven is a beautiful historical building, but it is not well equipped for such high summer temperatures. It will be great if air-conditioning can be installed in the building. I'm not a big fan of air-conditioning, but unfortunately, we're witnessing higher temperatures globally and, sadly, the Earth is only going to become hotter. In such circumstances, a system to cool down the air will become necessary to maintain healthy conditions. I would like to thank the staff - the receptionists and the manager of the property for their exceptional professionalism, genuine kindness, and desire to help us feel better. We appreciate your help very much! Thank you! I also want to point out that our room was very clean! The property was beautiful and the people working there were wonderful, it was just the unbearable heat that made our stay difficult.

Very comfortable and modern room. No air-conditioning but there was a fan. Grounds were pleasant. A nice breakfast and parking on site were included.

Mediocre rooms. Clean but a bit depressive.

The Irish College of Leuven is several things - a conference and career center, a training facility, an overseas college semester opportunity - but it is Not a hotel so its presence as one on Hotels.com is misleading. To stay there is to overnight in a dorm. Amenities are…well, I can’t remember one. There is no dining available (except for a basic continental breakfast), no functioning bar, and no TVs in the rooms. And the students can be rowdy (all that strong Belgian beer). The so-called College is situated a bit outside the center of Leuven so a walk is required to reach the center, which is beautiful indeed. Room rates are comparable to a good hotel that offers so much more.
