The hotel was great. They were accommodating with holding luggage before check in. The room was clean and comfortable. The gym had cold towels. Location was super easy to get to on the subway line. Rooms are super small, but that’s part of the hotel style. I would seek out another Motto hotel for my next business trip.

150 square feet - this is a bed and a bathroom. Very tight. If you just need a place to sleep, this works fine. If you use a room to relax, spread out or if you're a couple - this will be really uncomfortable. Nice bar on the roof with a great view. Staff is efficient, not exuberant.

Location was perfect for a concert at arena a block away. Lots of food and beverage options (coffee too). Roof top bar such a perk. Room was small, no in room amenities (ie.fridge or ice machine)

The location across the street from the subway station was excellent. The room had all the essentials, but it seemed a little lacking in terms of decor and efficiency of storage space. I’ve been in nicer microhotels. But, the fitness room was large and well equipped, availability of water stations throughout was great, the rooftop bar offered great views, and the ground floor restaurant offered good, reasonably priced food. The neighborhood is a little rough, but it is well patrolled by police.

Nice hotel. It is a micro hotel so the rooms are super small. But it had a nice lounge on the first lobby floor, down in the basement a whiskey bar, and on the top of the roof another nice little outdoor indoor bar. The hotel is secure. You need to use your key to get in to the hotel or press the button for assistance. You also need to use your key for the elevator. The outside is not the greatest area, but it’s not the worst either. If I was alone, I might feel a little uncomfortable, but with another person or group it’s fine.

The hotel is amazing, extremely clean, albeit small like some reviews said it was cozy and efficient. We had everything we needed. Overall a nice stay, however many surfaces in the room were a bit dirty and had smear marks like they hadn’t been properly cleaned and the key cards we were given had multiple stains/smears too so that was a little gross. Other than that it was perfect for our short stay, great location and friendly staff.

The Motto by Hilton is an excellent affordable option for a business hotel in downtown DC. Hotel rooms in DC can be outrageously expensive - and this is not the case at the Motto. That said, Motto describes itself as a micro-hotel. The rooms are small (sized more like London hotel rooms) and the in-room amenities (like a refrigerator) are sometimes missing. The Motto is very well maintained, everything works, the staff is very helpful, bed was comfortable, internet is free. Other than the small rooms, there is everything to recommend the Motto. There are two restaurants/bars on site - on the first floor and top floor (with outdoor veranda). I did not try either but looking at menus and the number of people at either, they seem to be good options. The Motto is conveniently located across the street from the Gallery Place Metro Station, there is a convenience store/pharmacy a few doors away and a huge number of restaurants/fast food within walking distance. A possible downside is lack of running/jogging opportunities, as running on the streets is painful but this would be true for any downtown DC hotel. The best option is to head south to the National Mall which is 0.7 miles away.

The hotel stay was totally fine for the staying for one night until in the morning when we found a cockroach in our room that totally turned us off from the visit/hotel as that’s completely disgusting. I did tell the front desk but all I got was an okay we”ll take care of it & nothing else or no other accommodations . We likely won’t be returning.

Loved the staff, they were so friendly and location was great across from the metro but the rooms are quite small, suitcases under the bed as no where to put them and wardrobe limited, no fridge or coffee facilities but we got but with glasses of ice from the bar, I would stay here again but just letting you know it is a small room, roof top bar was lovely but paid $29 for a beer and a wine so is expensive, ate in cafe for breakfast and it was lovely and guatuiy is included

Nice, good (well, OK) rates. On checkin I was informed that "this is a micro hotel" which means that the room was tiny. Tiny like no drawers, nowhere to put an open suitcase for unpacking, the micro-desk's chair didn't have room to pull back enough to get into the chair.

Was in DC for a basketball tournament at Capital One Arena. This hotel is a block from the arena, a metro station on the corner. Rooms are very small but every inch planned out. No fridge or microwave, get ice from the bar downstairs. Not a lot room to spread out but if you’re spending the day at the Mall, it’s perfect. Very reasonably priced. I’d stay here again. Super nice folks at the desk.

We had a one night stay. It's conveniently located across the street from the Green Line Gallery Place stop which was perfect for us. The hotel is very modern and very clean. The staff was very friendly. We didn't realize that this was a different type of Hilton. The rooms are very small! Just big enough for a full bed (we didn't think it was a queen) you can touch the bathroom door while lying in bed. If you're not going to spend much time in the room, this is perfect. Bare amenities...no coffee pot/fridge/microwave. That's why the price seemed so good. I wouldn't want to spend more than a day or two there. For a longer stay I'd prefer I larger, full amenities option.

The rooms are super small and there was a lot of noise from the street, however very clean. Walkable distance from the white house and the monument. Many dining options around, including the 3 restaurants/bars at the hotel. Whiskey bar was amazing and staff is excellent!

Convenient location close to subway and public transportation. Rooms are very tinny but clean so if you are only sleeping over , it is ok. It is very noisy, you will hear the nighttime traffic and people walking by whole day and night. Some sound proof windows may help.

Upon checking in, the staff was not hospitable at all. Nothing more than here is your key, okay bye. I had to ask where my room was. The place itself was SO NOISY. I heard sirens and alarms all night every night. I did not get good rest. My view was a brick wall. The cleaning staff was meh. I noticed black pet hair all over my bed and I have no idea where it came from but I had to clean it off. The front desk staff did the bare minimum. I would have to ask about the restaurants on the premises. They offered ear plugs, but who wants to sleep with ear plugs? Then on my last day they offered to move my room but I was already leaving at 5 am the following morning.

When I checked in, the hotel told me Expedia hadn’t reserved my room. Expedia said it was the hotel’s fault for not booking it, and now there’s no room for me! … I’m traveling with my three-year-old, and we ended up going from a queen bed to bunk beds. Someone owes me an explanation… I’m never booking through Expedia again! Absolutely terrible!

I stayed at this property back in February so I don’t remember the unique name of the African American gentleman who checked me in, but he was extremely helpful, and gave us a generous voucher for food and drink at the hotel, and also provided a wealth of knowledge of the city and offered several suggestions of things to experience. I wish I could remember the gentleman’s name. But I would definitely stay at this property again when I return to DC.

The rooms are exactly that, minimalistic, but exactly what I need for work travel. There is no fridge/microwave which is a down pit for having to eat out and not have a place for leftovers. My only negative was the cleaners cleaned my room the night before I was leaving despite the do not disturb sign. I was told they were a different contract, that they couldn't do anything, and it was probably for a wellness check. I'm sure they can see the room logs of scans, but it made no sense. Other than that overall stay was great, the bartender Sara is amazing as always and the kitchen staff are phenomenal. It's located at the entry of Chinatown but conveniently located across the metro and walking distance to many places. I recommend.

The hotel is located in the heart of Chinatown and easy to walk to other places. But the area around it has lots a panhandlers. The parking was not easy to find on the website. But is located around the corner from the hotel. The hotel itself was fine. The room was small, but clean and had everything one really needed.

While the hotel is central, it's right on the edge of Chinatown with several late night bars and night clubs nearby and almost constant police sirens. It is quite an unsafe area and I would not stay again.

The Hotel is fine. Staff is nice. The location is central, very interesting and pretty during the daytime. Motto is located right at the arch of China Town. But at night the area becomes a bit rough. We stayed for two nights and there were always fights across the street at the Metro Station.

The property information could be updated with transportation routes from Union Station to the hotel itself. I would have done that instead of walking since I was under the impression it was walkable from Union Station. To make it clear, this hotel is just across metro train and bus stops. The hotel is also clean and modern. It is in Chinatown so I hoped to see a lot of Asian restaurants but that is not the case. Only a couple are near and open. As for breakfast food, the restaurant in the hotel opens at 8 am and this is late for me since I had to leave the hotel at 7 am. My pet peeve is the availability of coffee. They said there is no room for a coffeemaker in the room but a table was in the room. I've seen small coffeemakers that will fit on the table. I like my coffee when I wake up so that was a downer. To top it all, there is no coffee/tea service in the lobby, either. I expect more from a Motto by Hilton Hotel.

The hotel was clean and comfortable. The staff were friendly and always helpful. Great location, one minute from the Capital One Arena and within walking distance from all the museums. The hotel bar was really nice and there are lots of dining options nearby. Would definitely stay here again.

The photos and ratings misled me here. I was looking for a cozy vibe. The room was the smallest I have ever stayed in, good condition but tiny. The noise from the street was awful, just awful. There were also several noisy patrons but I suppose that's not the hotel's fault. The neighborhood is centrally located but pretty sketchy. The staff were all super nice and helpful. Coffee shop was out of coffee beans. Restaurant eggs were poorly cooked, bacon you could read a newspaper through. The breakfast sandwich the second day was good. Ultimately I felt like I was at a youth hostel for adults, not the 'Hilton' experience I was expecting. Stay if you need the location or price but not if you are looking for a vibe or nice room.

A modern and youthful place – perfect for a short stay. Spotlessly clean and in an excellent location. I absolutely recommend it. One frustrating thing: I booked via Expedia, but wasn’t allowed to use the food and beverage credit, which felt like throwing that money out the window.
