B&B Calamatta

The B&B was a little hard to find since there was no signage outside and it was on a very small/empty feeling street. Luckily there was great dining close by that you could walk to. It was pretty far from the main sights of Rome so we had to walk quite a ways or taxi everywhere. It is a very old building but unique and quirky. The beds were extremely hard, but it was quiet. The owner was friendly but spoke no English so that was a little difficult to manage, but we got checked in just fine. We only stayed one night so our experience was limited, but we were happy overall.

Pamela, the host, was amazing. The rooms are clean and quiet. Great reliable air conditioning. Clean bathroom. Fridge, coffee maker etc….Beautiful antique elevator works great. And has beautiful charm. Do not hesitate to book. All is fine.

The relais calamatta is published as hotel but there is no front desk 24 hrs, the location is confused i experted to see a normal check in, the street outside is full of garbash deposits and there is no enogh light in the street, that make me feel insecure. In the other hand the person who received us was kind and explained us interest places to visit and routes, the room was clean.

Staff were excellent and kept us updated throughout our stay. The rooms are quite standard but spacious with AC in the room. The building itself also has a small elevator, but be cautious to let it come to a completely stop before opening the doors because otherwise you might get stuck! Overall nice stay in Rome within a good walking distance to most areas, would recommend

The property had a well-functioning elevator that was hands-down our favorite feature. Additionally, the staff were super friendly and there was a terrace area that was perfect for a night in. To top it all off, the property was close to many pretty sights and taxis in the area were easy to catch! 11/10 would stay here again.

Starting with the check-in to check-out i had a very bad experience. My flight landed in Rome, i arranged a pickup service with the B&B, so they knew what time i will be arriving. The car was on time to pick us up. Me and my wife arrived early to find out no one is there to greet us. So we had to wait outside the building for over an hour. The cleaning crew came before the host so they let us inside the building and wait by the office. When the host came in we found out we had to wait another 40 minutes to get the room ready. Most of the rooms were empty so not sure why they didnt had the room ready before. Once we got in the room we found out its smaller then it looks. There were barely any space for us to open our luggage. The bathroom was narrow. We had to ask for a bottle of water and also some blankets as it was cold. No heating was available. To eat breakfast you have to walk to the cafe they are partner with, which is a few min walk. They have a common area, small balcony with some tables. Not at all what it looks like in picture. There was also an oven, not sure which era it was from. There was a tv in the room with italian channels only no english. No smart tv. Wifi was horrible. Couldn't connect at all as the router range didnt cover the room. The only positive about this place was proximity to all the attractions. Everything else was disappointing. All in all bad experience. This place need a major upgrade.

Great location within walking distance to Ancient Rome as well as Vatican, river, shoppes, and restaurants. Public bus transportation was less than a block away as well. Staff was helpful in recommending restaurants and providing directions. Driver to the airport was prompt. It is more like a B&B room and staff is not onsite 24 hours, however, they were available and responsive via WhatsApp. WiFi was weak signal but manager assured us that is not always the case and he would look into it.

Very comfortable bed. Plenty of hot water. Very clean. No bugs. Fridge was nice in a non-kitchen room. Excellent location. We walked to the colosseum, the Vatican, Trevi fountain, the Pantheon, transtevere, and The Steps. We also walked to the train station, but with luggage is a haul. Best to get their from the airport taking the bus from Terminal 3 and getting off at the Vatican, then walking a short distance. No air conditioning, but it was a cool spell when we were there. Don’t be looking for a hotel sign as you go down the street. It’s only a big wooden door and a door buzzer. Would recommend. No microwave. Corkscrews!

The room was clean and the place is in a safe area, near to several places to dine and near to transportation. Pamy was in touch with us all the time to assist us with any questions and anything we might need. The only issue is that they could use some bleach in the shower as there was some mildew in the corners.

We had a lovely stay at R.Calamatta! Nice and clean room. Quiet and in walkingdistance to attractions. Warmly recommended guesthouse! Best from Kari H

The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. The reason I’m rating this slightly lower was because of the cleanliness in the restroom. There was mold in and around the shower. Otherwise, the location is very walkable and the bus stop is right around the corner.

I didnt like this hotel. The air conditioner was not working it was hot in the room, wifi wasnt working, and when taking shower the water would drian (so disgusting) very old building and everything is manuel and old even accessing the building and room. The staff were nice, friendly, and welcoming. They were helpful with providing local information but i do not recommend this hotel.

It was great and clean

This is not a hotel. It is a room in a building. First you need to pick up the key at the bar and then find your room. It is difficult and not only for us, there was a couple who were also looking for their room. When we almost gave up, a neighbor helped us find the room. She also did not understand the instructions, so we all had to insert the keys to try to open any door. The faucet in the bathroom was broken and it was difficult to turn on the water. The shower head was leaking and the drain was so slow that in the middle of the shower you had to wait for the water to drain. Incredible experience I had. Plus, the wifi did not work and the owner was upset when I asked her to. Finally, the wifi worked after 6 hours after several messages on Whtapp, but it was too slow for my work. I would say find another hotel, but not this one! Think about after all this, you could get blamed by owner!

Great location. Good bed and shower. Spacious room. Only negative was not to good soundproofing between room and hallway.

The Wi-Fi signal was awful after taking 2 steps into the our room. The speed is fine, coverage inside the room is bad. To make proper use of the Wi-Fi, we had to be at arms reach from the room door or be in the common areas. Everything else was amazing.

This room was perfect for what it was. It was a relaxing nice place to come back to after the hustle and bustle of Rome. The location was perfect that it was super walkable to all the amazing sites, but wasn't directly in them making it a little more quiet and peaceful. It was nice walking home everyday from all the fun. It felt very safe, and was very cute. A little outdated and therefore the room felt a little rundown but overall it was very clean and comfortable. We slept awesome here too, but could be from walking around so much haha!

Hotel is in a perfect location. Staff is super helpful and communicates right away. Room was comfortable and clean. I would stay here again, but I will say. If you are looking to work from the hotel the internet is a slow connection, but the office helped me to find alternate ways to work. Also, there is no AC (we stayed in October) nights could get warm, but we opened windows and had a traveling fan. Lastly...this is on a very noisy street. We heard trash truck constantly throughout the night emptying bins nearby. Despite all this as I mentioned, I would stay here again based on location and amazing staff.

The stay was great! Good location with some food nearby and excellent housekeeping. The room was very spatious - the only thing we wished was a bit better was the washroom, as it was a bit cramped + the shower head was loose.

The hotel was more than we expected! And Diane and the rest of the staff there were so kind and welcoming! They helped us with whatever we needed from booking to recommending restaurants. Great place! Highly recommended and we will be back to stay with them again!!

I took a 2 week trip to Europe and stayed in many different places. Out of all the places I stay I have to say this was the most beautiful, easy to access, clean, and safe place we have stayed in. The rooms are very beautiful and modern. The house keeper does an amazing job at making sure the rooms are clean and there are new towels everyday. The owner of this establishment is amazing. She was very nice when we were checking in and contacted us to ask about our stay during the trip. If I come back to Rome this is the first place I would look to book a room with. I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a clean, easy to access room with a wonderful host.

We were welcomed by Pamela who was very friendly and showed us how to get to various places around Rome. She gave us a map and told us bus routes and how long walking would take. She was very knowledgeable. She let us know about the summer events down by the river with music, shopping, food… The room was clean with a little coffee station, plenty of towels and the AC was amazing!! Calmara BB is in an excellent central location, yet down a quiet street.

Such a quiet neighborhood, didn’t feel too touristy and yet was so near to everything!! We loved being by the river, and there were plenty of great restaurants nearby. Valerio, the host, was very accessible and kind. The room itself was perfect, quiet and spacious.

Perfect location, close distance to ”everything” and local buses on the corner. Quite, clean and nice rooms with the basics you need.

Boendet hade ett perfekt läge, vi nådde allt vi ville till fots och boendet låg i en lugn gata. Det blev i överkant av 20000 steg/dag. Frukostlösningen var ingen hit, speciellt inte för mig som är glutenintolerant. Annars var allt bara bra!

El hotel conserva su estilo antiguo, pero todo muy bien mantenido. Es muy cómodo, nos encantó el ascensor como de los años 20, la amabilidad de todo el personal, además de que está super bien ubicado. El desayuno fue lo unico que no nos gustó para nada, pero no fue un problema, pudimos cambiarlo por otro lugar de nuestra elección. En general nos encantó y regresaríamos.

Nice little b&b with a couple of rooms. Breakfast is a dive minute walk in a typical pasticceria. Breakfast is very basic. Room was nice and clean with a good bed en good shower.

He experience at the Relais Calamatta was outstanding. We arrive at midnight in Rome and the owner arranged a taxi to pick us up, plus a way for us to get the keys. The breakfast offered at the near cafeteria was excellent. He continued to communicate with me when i needed help. On our last day he arranged a taxi to pick us ip and take us to the port of civitavechia. My wife and i cant express how thankful we are for their help. O highly recommend this hotel which is near everything Rome has to offer.

Hotel met perfecte ligging, alles op wandelafstand en toch rustig gelegen. Omdat we laat aankwamen moesten we zelf inchecken via een bar achter de hoek van het hotel. Het ontbijt was ok, dit was voorzien in een bakkerij vlakbij het restaurant, ze voorzien een warme en koude drank en een croissant. Als je meer wil voor het ontbijt kan je makkelijk iets bijbestellen en extra betalen. De kamer was zeer proper en net groot genoeg. Wij waren dagelijks weg van 9u tot +-20u waardoor we geen grotere kamer nodig hadden. We hoorden jammer genoeg alles wat er op de gang gebeurde, de deuren zijn niet dik en er zit een grote spleet onder de deur.

Muito bem localizada e limpa. O cafe da manha deixa a desejar, pois não fica no mesmo local, não é farto (é só uma bebida quente, um croissant e um suco de laranja) e não é saboroso.

Globalement le logement est très très propre et très bien entretenu. Le seul problème est l’absence de petit déjeuner alors que nous l’avions expressément demandé. Ce n’est pas un hôtel mais un BandB chez le particulier qui a passé un accord avec un bar assez loin pour le petit dejeuner. Nous avons payé pour rien car nous n’y sommes pas allés. Donc ne correspondait pas à notre demande
