Secrets Aura Cozumel - Adults Only

We expected more for a Secrets Resort. The resort is old and run down looking. Restaurants were closed some days. The sushi restaurant wasn’t open because they didn’t have a chef. The Bordeaux restaurant had excellent food and great service. The resort was only about 25 to 30% full so it was very quiet everywhere - like nobody around by 9 pm. There is not a nice bar to hang out in the evenings. We like entertainment around the pool and music, other than constant elevator/lounge music. When we went to the Sky Bar, which has a beautiful view, but not always a bar tender, there were often only 2-4 other people there. One positive was there were no lineups for food or drinks ever! The beach area was nice and you could get chairs. We made the most of our vacation and had fun anyways, but it was not at all what we were expecting. Other people we talked to were also very disappointed and some had no hot water in their rooms. We definitely would not go back there.

Lots of things need to be addressed! Leaks in 2 different bathrooms in building 14 YUCK CLEAN YOUR POOLS! All the pools needed scrubbed & water added There is more to pools than just adding chemicals Not enough staff (or supplies) for the size of the resort We (might) be back but it's NOT what it used to be and that's just sad.

Area is beautiful with great beach, however, jelly fish right off shore for multiple days with NO warning! Wife was stung & swelled up ruined our beach time. Pool is unheated & cold, so not enjoyable, made swim-out pool room pointless. Shower did not have any hot water. Room was dirty. toilet, shower handle, & closet door all broken. Never attended to throughout the stay. Sales pitch with “90 minute” duration doubled & no easy answer out of it without hassle. All labor workers VERY friendly, but bad management. Was ready to checkout & leave early!

The design of the property was very nice the swimup to your room was great...loved how it connect ed to the main pool. The condition of the property was poor. (Being a Hyatt property) Frig in room did not work...tiles falling off at pool and in bathroom. Paint stains on pool verand. Every morning there was a puddle of water in front of the door . Puddle was inside room... Very slippery. Hot tub did not work. Coffee machine in the coca cafe did not work...there were no pool towels after 11:00. Staff was a little snippy. The activity coordinator was great!

The staff were wonderful. It was very quiet. Very relaxing Not much to do for nightlife on the property.

3rd time at property. Spa is wonderful; however descriptions could be better when booking online, beds comfortable, room service is just as good as restaurants. The only issues I have had everytime is the safe in room. Mine never work no matter how many times I called maintenance.

This is my fourth time to Secrets Cozumel, but my first time with it being under Hyatts ownership. This used to be a gorgeous high end resort, and now it’s a sad memory. 1. Lack of chairs and towels. I’m sure the hotel knows how many guests it has staying, why is there not enough chairs and towels being supplied. There were elderly guests who had no where to sit around the pool or beach and many having to use their room towels bc they were out at the towel bins. Many of the beach chairs were broken, and when asked a few employees for help they just said ‘I don’t know’ and kept walking. There is a huge open space on the beach for more chairs and definitely more room at the pool. The preferred club loungers are decrepit and full of mold. This is absolutely unacceptable for a resort of this caliber. 2. Restaurants and two to three hour wait times. Again this is not acceptable to have to wait 2-3 hours to get into dinner and only have half the restaurants open. The buffet was a complete joke of selection and had birds eating off the buffet bc no one was attending to it. 3. Check in, why is there only one person there to check guests in when you have full knowledge of what your guest count is going to be? Also I shouldn’t be harassed by the club sales team while I’m waiting over an hour to get check in after a long tr

We had an amazing stay at Secrets Aura Cozumel. The property was beautiful and the staff were friendly and helpful. We especially loved breakfast at Bordeaux with Rony and Ricardo each morning, as well as lunches at the beach/pool with Miguel. The hydrotherapy at the spa was also wonderful. Overall, we had an incredible stay and we can’t wait to visit again very soon.

Our room was in good condition, hit water took a out 20 minutes in order to shower, one day there was zero water at all until we called maintenance. Guests next to us had non functioning air conditioning and refrigerators The staff was quite friendly. Activities were well staffed . The beach was wonderful, the bars tender to close early.. some restaurants never opened in the week we were there. The buffet was very plain.

Beach and pool chairs were all saved by 8 am with people not using them for hours at a time. First night restaurants were full with very long wait times. Our room staff was excellent. Overall this hotel is needs updating.

It was awful. We left after 2 nights. We are fighting for a partial refund. If you like disgusting, moldy hotels this is the one for you.

Overall the resort was okay, there was a lot of maintenance going on. The room needed some TLC, repainting, refurnishing, etc.

This resort has seen better days. It was fine for 3 nights and some sun, but we won't be going back. All of the hard-working young ladies were very pleasant with great attitudes. The food was kinda bland and sad. The resort was tidy but when you look closer, kinda grungy. Aside from clean sheets and towels, our room was not clean. Even my husband noticed. The shower and AC were not in good working order.

Stayed 9 days and on 3 days the bathroom was leaking down the wall and through the light fixtures and this was more than a small leak. I could press my fingers through the woodwork it was so rotted also moldy. Tried to get them to take care of it and took 3 days before we were moved. The water was running out the bathroom as far as to the front door which I have pictures and videos We walked out of a restaurant because the food was all cold and didn’t enjoy any of the food there. There was no hot water for the last 4 days and I heard many others complaining about the same issue. We ran into at least 8-10 others that had leaks in their rooms.The grounds were unkept and the tiles around the pool were missing or broken. For the $3,000 we paid this was sooooo disappointing. I’m surprised that Expedia would represent this place. Makes me think about using Expedia for my future vacations.

No hot water. Changed rooms three times. Not a clean resort at all. Run down, old, and falling apart. Wasted a week off work. Would not recommend at all. This is not like my previous Secrets experience.

We did not have a good experience here. The majority of our meals were "cold" by the time they were delivered to our table. Right away on our balcony we had a bee nest. My husband is highly allergic to bees. We reported right away and it was brushed off for a full day. We again were told they would be taken care after the second time we reported it. They finally gave us a new room. We had huge bugs in our new room and we reported two separate times. Again, brushed off the first time and then they said they would re-spray, but they never followed up with us to say they did or didn't. Bugs were in our room on our last day. We understand bugs are not the resorts fault - but we felt they were not taking us seriously and/or didn't care - and never followed up. Overall, a very poor experience throughout this stay.

Beach front and the sunsets are beautiful. Secrets rooms appear to behind in maintenance. We had to upgrade our room because the original was not in good condition. Also, room was listed as an ocean view but only had a small sliver of ocean view and room over looked a very noisy pool.

A/C didn’t work in our room, wouldn’t cool past 78deg. Informed the front desk and the engineer they sent up to fix it said that he has fixed it and it would cool down. Next day I informed them again that it wasn’t working, there was also water dripping from the light above the toilet so it would just drip on you while using it. Never got resolved either. Room was overall just outdated and they didn’t put much effort in making it right.

The room has a lot of humidity, but in everything else, 10/10

Overall, this is exactly the kind of vacation I wanted to take. The all inclusive feature was the most beneficial and you can choose the different restaurants on site as well as the neighboring Sunscapes and Dreams for food and drinks. We stayed in the Oceanfront 111 on the lower level, which was perfect to walk out to the beach with that view and was absolutely beautiful every single morning. The bed was comfortable, the soaking tub, my girlfriend absolutely took advantage of. Housekeeping was spot on to replace towels and make the bed and take out the garbage daily. All the staff members were so nice and everybody we came across was so accommodating and helpful. We didn’t have our daughter but every restaurant we went to asked if we had any kind of allergies which we’d really appreciated, we don’t, but our daughter does and we found that so inviting that they cared to make sure that they asked every single time we went to any of the restaurants. The menus were on the app were close, but not exactly to what they had for that day, but gave you a really good idea of all the times of the restaurants of when they were open and when they closed and what was preferred only and what was not. We were in a preferred suite so everything was available to us. The place isn’t perfect, but it’s still Mexico with a beautiful view and make the most of it. Just don’t go into the mindset that it’s a five star resort, make your own assumptions, but for us, exactly what we needed

We booked this hotel for a lower priced all inclusive vacation and that is what we got. The overall rating I am giving is 'Good'. Firstly, the food was very good. Better than expected!! The staff were all very nice. Facility is clean. Now...It is an older hotel and the rooms are very inconsistent. We checked in with friends to 2 ocean view rooms. Our view was trees - they had ocean/pool view. Amenities in the rooms were hit and miss. No clock or hairdryer in ours, no umbrella or washcloths in theirs! Our First room had water leaking around the base of the toilet, NO HOT WATER, and 3 non working light fixtures. With the tree view, it made the room very dark. It took 4 days to get a new room assigned. The 2nd room finally got the ocean view, Hot water, however the bed wasn't as comfortable. Still no clock and I'm pretty sure the fan would have eventually sparked and caught fire if we left the switch turned on. Probably would not come back to this hotel.

We went to Secrets Aura with lower expectations knowing it was one of the older and more run down resorts in their brand. So I was pleasantly surprised when we arrived to our pool view swim out. It had been renovated and had a clean feel. With that said, pool view “swim outs” are NOT swim outs! They have 2.5 ft baby pools outside your room and you have to take a water slide to be able to actually swim. Sounds like a fun set up, however, pools close at 6 and you are left with a 2.5 ft baby pool to swim in for the night. We like swim outs to be able to relax in both in the AM and after dinner and the baby pools should not be called “swim outs”. And although it was renovated, it had 2 inch cockroaches crawling under the door..they should have gotten better sealed doors lol. We expect to see them when in the tropics and don’t freak out, but not thrilled to have them crawling in our room. We then switched to an ocean view swim out and paid for the upgrade. At least I could float in the morning and evening despite the room being older and run down. Overall, it was meh…. We expected such with it being at the price point it is (compared to other secrets) but the one thing that was disappointing was the service. This is the 7th trip my husband and I took to a AMR (now Hyatt) owned resort and there is usually exceptional customer service! We didn’t have a concierge reach out to us once. We normally have daily check ins. Overall, a good place for the price.

I would have given it a five but the room we received when we got there was horrible and we had to wait an hour and a half to get a better room and pay another $360 to upgrade. When we first got there we were told there were no additional rooms or ways to upgrade which was pretty inconvenient. To go see two other rooms before finally being put in a nice room in the preferred area. Vacation started off poor but overall was good. I definitely know if we come back we will be staying in the preferred area.

We had a wonderful time. The room I got through Expedia was up a large hill and then we had to climb stairs to the 3rd floor. I am not in the best shape so I felt like I was going to die everytime I headed to our room. However Pablo helped us get into a new room that was much better for me. The wait staff at Market cafe was all amazing: Rosanna, Kenia, Elizabet, Ricardo, Alberto’s, Gaspar, and can’t forget Mario. I saw so many people not tipping just remember it is an all inclusive but treat the wait staff well and tip them for there services.

Disappointing Stay – Will Not Return Our stay at Secrets Aura Cozumel was extremely disappointing. Staff were consistently rude, especially when ordering food or drinks. At breakfast, I told our server Ronnie I’m allergic to lactose and asked for fruit without yogurt. He brought a plate with yogurt anyway and instead of getting a new one, he just swapped it with someone else’s plate at the table—completely careless and unhygienic. Service throughout the resort was poor, with staff often having bad attitudes and seeming annoyed by simple requests. On our second night, the resort lost power at 6 PM. We had no water or air conditioning until 2 AM. When I asked front desk supervisor Pablo for an update, he told me I had to “deal with it” and didn’t owe me any explanation—completely unprofessional. The resort clearly lacks proper training in customer service and hospitality. After this experience, I will never stay at Secrets Aura again, and I’ve lost confidence in the Hyatt brand overall—which is disappointing considering we’ve stayed at over 15 Hyatt properties in the last five years. Avoid this resort.

We love the staff!!!! Bartenders, waitstaff, hostesses, front office are all 10's. Everyone goes out of their way to be friendly and helpful!

The hotel’s location and beach are exceptional. The staff’s efforts to address our concerns were commendable. However, the property’s age and the need for repairs are notable drawbacks. Three out of four rooms were unsatisfactory, necessitating a relocation to upgraded accommodations. The dining experience was average, contrasting with the exceptional quality of food at other Secret locations. While we are considering returning to Cozumel for its pristine beaches, we would not choose to stay at this establishment again.

Front desk staff was rude, resort, for the most part, closed at 10:30 pm, unless you wanted to go to their tiny little night club.Pablo, the front desk manager, was the rudest person I have ever dealt with in 9 trips to Mexico! I do not recommend staying at this resort! Enrique, at the Manatee Pool Bar, was awesome!

Been going there for 20 years and this was a terrible experience for myself and family. High pressure sales as soon as you enter. Don’t even give you a chance to relax. Never again. Most restaurants only open twice a week. Used to look so forward to going there but Hyatt changed everything. Don’t go there

Disappointed by poor check in especially as we weren’t feeling well & needed to rest. Reason for delay was given as Supervisor had to check to confirm room at standard. Finally given access after 40mins, advised needed to still sort mini bar & would deliver tea with milk, neither happened. Ceiling in bathroom began leaking during the night, with water all over floor, my wife narrowly missed slipping & having a dangerous fall. Reported to reception & maintenance, didn’t seem to be too bothered saying we should report in post stay feedback form which never came through. Another example of number of occasions when staff said what we wanted to hear but no action took place. There were couple of staff who were both friendly & went above & beyond. Most others seemed superficial sadly. Location nice, food good, but above experience left bad taste in mouth.

The staff and service at Secrets is fantastic. The staff go out of their way to learn your names and make you feel welcome. Some of our favorites from breakfast and lunch dining are: Rosana, Kenia, Mesero, Elizabet, Mario, Gaspar, Albertos and Ricardo. Puablo was amazing at the front desk and Angel and Enrique were always available to help with anything we needed. Special shout out to Sam, who actually works over at Dreams.

We love Secrets for the size and the beach to snorkel and watch sunsets. The staff here is amazing, they are always friendly and helpful in any way they can. However, I'd you are looking for a party resort, this is not your place. It is for relaxing and rejuvenating.

Friendly staff food was good and entertainment was fun! Beach is rocky and hard to walk into the water. Need a taxi to do anything off resort, but dwntwn is only 15 min. Would recommend

We enjoyed our stay as they staff was amazing and the beach gorgeous. The rooms really need some updating but the facility was very clean. And while the restaurants were pretty good, there wasn't as much variety as they were not all open. At times there would be only one or two open.

Older resort with old world charm. Not the clean and sleek modernist of the Dreams resort. Being on the edge of the three resorts made it nice for being an adults only resorts, unlike other hotels where we stayed at with adults only area being in the middle. Many pathways between the buildings made for easy walking. Restaurants and food was excellent. It would have been nice to have more/better signage for directions. The beach sand was a little rough/sharp for extended barefoot walks.

Love having a pier access, can book tours and have them pick us up right there. The staff is amazing. They really make the stay memorable. From the bell boy Amilcar, the restaurant staff victor, Sergio, Clara, Angela, Miguel, Fernando, Luis.

Great snorkeling! Great dive shop and easy access to dive boats! Very attentive staff and service far exceeding other resorts! And they have Dos Equis! Most resorts in Cozumel don’t offer it! Spacious rooms with great AC! We will definitely return !!

Beautiful beach and sunset!

Our stay at Secrets was just ok. Nothing over the top. Nothing special. The staff at the restaurants were good and attentive. The first day we got there no one was monitoring the pools or walking by for drinks. We had to get out of the pool and walk over to the bar, which he seemed super irritated. There were no towels and we asked several staff walking by to please get us towels. No one came back. At least 4 staff members. The room was nice and cool but with all the humidity from the ocean, very damp. If you don’t have the ceiling fan going, water accumulates on the floor. I had to wash all my clothes, even the ones I didn’t wear. Our biggest turn off was that there is no buffet. Only for breakfast which is very limited. We had to get dressed, go sit down, order and wait for our food. The food was ok. Nothing horrible. The French restaurant was amazing. They also had a Mayan dinner on the beach which was also amazing. Taxi's are super expensive. We had 6 people in our group and it was $10 a person one way. So a round trip taxi ride was $120 US. We were told they don’t base prices on Pesos because US dollars are widely used. Of course the resort had nothing to do with that. The beach was stunning. Definitely take water shoes as it is quite rocky in places. We were told that we didn’t have access to Dreams which is a sister property and next door. But Dreams guest had access to our facilities? Overall not a horrible stay but probably won’t return.

The restaurants were not open every night. It made it kind of difficult on some nights to find a place to eat.

The bed was very comfortable, the room was clean. Maid service was good. The food service was very poor. Restaurants were closed during days they were listed online as open. Service in the Restaurants was very slow. The food was OK. Definitely not fine dining as listed. It was terrible but certainly not on par with "fine dining" as advertised. The mixed drink quality definitely depedned on which bar tender was working. The drink mixes they used were syrupy sweet and not very good. They push buying into their "vacation club" which is very annoying. The room quality was good, beach was great, it definitely had a lot of potential. But we will likely not stay here again.

Great Staff, But Dining Needs Work The staff at Secrets Aura Cozumel was amazing, friendly, helpful, and always welcoming. You really couldn’t ask for better service. That said, the dining setup was frustrating. You’re given a printed schedule showing which restaurants are open each day, and most are à la carte with limited, repetitive menus. Many meals lacked variety, and waiting in the heat wasn’t enjoyable. The Market Café buffet was great for breakfast, but it absolutely needs to be open for lunch and dinner. A buffet option all day would solve a lot. We ended up relying on room service just for convenience. The swim-out rooms were excellent for relaxing after the beach. Overall: amazing staff and setting, but management really needs to improve food variety and bring back buffet dining beyond breakfast.

If the food was Mexican it was great. Problem with American meals. They need an American cook to show him how to prepare American food. The steaks and fillet were not that great.

They also had a Mayan dinner on the beach which was also amazing. Taxi's are super expensive. We had 6 people in our group and it was $10 a person one way. So a round trip taxi ride was $120 US. We were told they don’t base prices on Pesos because US dollars are widely used. Of course the resort had nothing to do with that. The beach was stunning. Definitely take water shoes as it is quite rocky in places. We were told that we didn’t have access to Dreams which is a sister property and next door. But Dreams guest had access to our facilities? Overall not a horrible stay but probably won’t return.

It was a ok experience the dining options were limited every day! Room service didn’t show or waited hours for it!!!! We were lied to about our free upgrade when it was time check out we had a bill that was unbelievable also there are NOT a lot of activities to do on the property I will most likely never return after my first time at a secret’s property!!!!
