Margaritaville Lake Resort Lake of the Ozarks

We stayed 2 nights on Friday and Saturday and we enjoyed the indoor water park on Saturday during the day. It was staffed well and overall very clean and accommodating. We ate most of our meals at the Boathouse and the bartenders were excellent.

The property was nice but you can tell it definitely needs some upgrades. Also we were not aware that the pool was public - so that was a bummer for us as it got busy and full FAST. It was like there weren’t really any perks of staying there if the public could do everything I could do as a paying guest. The room was nice but there was an odd smell and we found old flower petals or something from the previous guests under the tv stand in our room. The staff was friendly and did upgrade us for free when we got there - so we loved that - overall our trip was great but I am not sure if we’d come back.

Stayed here with my kids and grandkids. Rooms are clean and we like that there is a lot of room, didn't try to pack everything is a small space. Can go to eat, drink, visit without leaving the facility. The waterpark is great when the weather outside isn't so great.

Overall just okay experience. Hot tub was out of service which was a big disappointment. One the positive side restaurants were reasonably priced and good quality. Felt that activities such as putt putt golf should have been free especially since the putt putt course was not well maintained.

Very large property with extremely helpful staff. Lots of options for eating and activities on side. They shuttle you around for free. The pools were fantastic, although they are all public so get very crowded by non guests. The water park was an additional cost and has NO lifeguards on duty. Staff inside the actual water park were scarse and it was pretty much a free for all in the pools. Other than that was a lot of fun. The slides did have staff at the top to twll you when it was safe to go down.

Facelift of Tan Terra resort was basically a paint job. Needs a little more remodeling. Pool was nice but very crowded and allowed outside boaters to enjoy resort facility which was crowded. Needed more staff.

I stayed here for a school function for my son. To me the room is a bit overpriced since a lot of the amenities aren’t included. You still had to pay to use the waterpark, bowling alley and pool hall. I feel that with the price of the room being so high, these should have been included or at least cheaper to use. Overall the room was nice but nothing special.

I was BLOWN AWAY by the service here. From check in everyone was so friendly and helpful. There’s a shuttle that takes you anywhere. You are sent a text a check in, and that was wonderful! Our shower stopped working, and they had an engineer there in 10 minutes!! I would recommend this place to anyone traveling to the Ozarks. Infinity pool, indoor and outdoor pools, hot tub, it had everything. The room was beautiful as well, with a lake view. Sunset was beautiful. Will definitely be back.

Great little place for family friendly weekend. Indoor pool is awesome. Water park is smaller than expected but the kids still had a blast

The property needs some updates - wood needs replaced, much need painted and concrete needs repaired. We had to pay $11 each to play putt putt but the course was in bad condition and needed cleaned off. It was inconvenient getting to the various pools and restaurants but they tried to accommodate by offering golf shuttle services that you had to phone or ask staff to arrange pickup. Although I never expect a lot of vegan/vegetarian options, a couple (besides salads or an occasional veggie burger) would be great. Parking was a challenge showing the main parking garage was full the whole time we were there even during a slower time. Where we had to park required A LOT of steps to get to our room so if we were handicapped this would be out of the question - no ramps. There in August and the pools were freezing. Room service only every couple days so they needed to leave more coffee supplies in the room or at least make it easy to get more. Staff was overall very nice and our room was clean.

I booked and paid for 2 nights however we left after one night. This place having the Margaritaville name is a joke when compared to other Margaritaville properties. My room was dirty, had bugs. Very old and outdated. Could not shower because the tub wouldn't drain after one shower. Had to use bottled water because the water is dirty like a gray color even after running for 5 minutes. The bed was uncomfortable. The pool was dirty at Land Shark. The best thing about this "resort" was driving away from it. Don't be fooled by the name. It sucks.

We always enjoy our stay at Margaritaville. The room was nice, housekeeping was responsive when we needed something, and the bartenders at the tiki hut were amazing, as always - shoutout to Cara and Potter! The horse ride was fun for the kids, and the ice cream at the Provisions ship is amazing. Landshark restaurant on the property was awesome as usual, and Ben did a great job as our server. We did go to the water park on property, which was ok, but I would say it's not worth what they charge - it should be included in the stay for how little the water park is. We did enjoy its location and proximity to other activities and restaurants in the area. HOWEVER. We were swimming in the small pool on property, and found fecal matter floating in the water. We brought it to a maintenance employee's attention, and the pool WAS NOT shut down to be cleaned per CDC guidelines. The employee scooped up the fecal matter and moved on. We left the pool immediately and told others around us who also left, but it is extremely concerning that Margaritaville's cleanliness standards are not set at a level to keep guests safe. I'm not sure if I will return now, as I question whether my children and I will get sick swimming in their facility pools.

Serene environment but the balcony and hallways were unkempt

I booked a 2 room suite with 2 king beds, 2 baths. As soon as I entered the building, I could smell the must and mold from the carpet. Hello allergy reaction! My suite key didn’t work and the front desk had to send maintenance to open the door. In short, the suite was gross. The sliding closet doors came off the hinges upon opening. Both old school room air conditioners had caked-on dust and years of debris that was blowing everywhere in the rooms. The only setting that worked on each A/C unit was high, one unit high-hot and one high-cold. The beds were old and worn. The couch was just ick - black funk all over it. There is no way a person could comfortably sleep in that suite. I requested a different room and apparently the only room available with modern ventilation was a basic 2 queen in a different building -seems odd given the resort was not busy. Despite less space, I agreed to accept it. The second building had newer carpet and the air quality was a marked difference from the first building. But, the room was still gross. The funk caked on the baseboards clearly had been there awhile. Old shower curtains. The porcelain in the bathtub was chipped in multiple spots. The shower drain didn’t drain without puddling first. The service at the Landshark Bar was marginal. Food hugely average. Upon checkout, I wasn’t asked how my stay was, likely because they know the place is a dump. Do better Margaritaville. Way too expensive to be an EconoRoach with a fancy name.

Other Margaritaville locations are cleaner with better customer service and they let visitors know what they have available for their guests. Never received room service and the room was not clean. No maps of property or contact info for additional services.

our phone didn’t work. Our door didn't close. The TV doesn’t work. Our feet turn black when we walk around. Multiple bugs found in the room.

Pool chairs and seats are in poor condition, dirty and unkept. Constant elevator breakdowns. Landshark restrooms are filthy and unkept. The food is not of high quality. Bed comfort good. Registration staff very good. Children allowed to play on escalators. That is an unsafe.

For the most part it was okay. The bed was comfortable. The room looked clean for the most part. But the bathroom smelled like a urinal or septic something or other. For the price paid thought it would be nicer. Very dated

I hate to leave a bad review because overall the property, restaurants and majority of employees were amazing. However, the room we got stuck with was 697 and it was ROUGH. I thought I seen online it was renovated in 2023. This room had the instant smell of must and probably mold. The ceiling had a crack that ran almost the length of the room and it was black in color. The balcony was infested with spiders. The A/C would not cool the room below 73 until maintenance came twice. All they did was move the couch so it had better airflow. Still wouldn’t cool below 70. I asked for a new room several times but was never offered during our 5 night stay. The worst part is, they came and spray painted the black moldy crack instead of getting us a new room.

The bathroom shower had black mold literally everywhere. It made us sick. My doctor now has me on steroids to help my lungs.

The room air conditioner is occupancy controlled. I really think the air was turning off when we were sleeping and I kept walking up hot.

Everything was great except room temp. We like the thermostat set at 65 degrees at night. There was a control set on the thermostat that wouldn’t allow us to set below 67 degrees- this made are night sleep not so good! That’s are only complaint. Otherwise the stay was good.

Mattress had blood on it, so they brought me a different one, that one look like it was sitting water. The third one that came to my room was hard and very uncomfortable. The place is starting to look weathered. And the people who they’re hiring are less than par for the remodel. The craftsmanship is horrible. The hotel employees were nice and polite.

Images don’t match the room, balcony was covered with spiders and webs, more families with kids than I thought, they need to upgrade the bathrooms as well but overall a great experience !!

All good just wish the toilets were bigger.

I liked there were things the kids could do. The AC in both rooms we rented didn’t work so it was very hot. The restaurants were very expensive and I have had better eggs at McDonald’s and that’s saying a lot. We were the only people in the JB’s Boathouse restaurant and we order appetizers took almost an hour to get them.

I did not like that. It was limited to spots week ago because most of it wasn’t open or close very early and the walls in the hotel were very thin where you could hear in the other room as far as parking wasn’t inconvenience because if you stayed on a certain side, depending on where it was not enough parking and you had to walk far to get to your room. It was a overrated experience, especially when other people told me they went and describe this place as being awesome and I also did not like you did not have a microwave in the room and if you want one, you have to pay $10 extra a night to have a microwave in your room.

The rooms were very outdated. Pool area and other amenities were nice but thebroom need more than just acoat of paint.

The WiFi was terrible the entire time, we never had service in our rooms and the tv didn’t work most of the time, for 210 a night you would thing that stuff worked better

Our check in was at 4 and did not manage to get checked in until an hour later. Got moved to a different room with the loudest AC machine ever. That dis not allow us to rest or relax. Overall the place was nice but the rrom ac needs to be looked at

This is our second time at Margaritaville. We stayed for two nights. We were disappointed that we found out that housekeeping doesn't come unless asked. We do like to have the bed made and would have liked our coffee replaced without having to go find someone to get some for us. We found out later on that you have to ask for that service, which is fine but maybe they should ask you that when you check in. As far as the facility goes, we love the outdoor pool and Landsharks, but the indoor pool/hot tub is very unappealing, with literally nothing to look at on the walls, no lights or decor at all. That area feels a little neglected. Aside from those things, we had a good visit overall, they may just need to do some updating in certain areas.

The check in process was slow only 1 person checking people in and it was 3:30 pm. Dinner - Service was poor, food took long. Felt the common areas, gym were not kept at a good standard. Needed pool towels no one on duty, had to go get someone.

Would NOT recommend this place to anyone! Very understaffed making the check-in process take forever. Couldn’t put my family in the room that we reserved AND PAID FOR. The front desk employee told me that there was nothing they could go about the odor of marijuana in the hallway to our room, although the whole resort is supposed to be smoke free. The party across the hall from our room was smoking marijuana IN THE HALL. We expected a newly renovated room in the hotel with two king sized beds, and instead were put in a cabin on the complete opposite side of the resort, away from all the amenities, in a room with two full size beds that probably hasn’t been updated or renovated in the last 40 years. So disappointed in this resort. The front desk employee also recommended that we get a popular drink from the resort, called a Shark Bite. So after we checked in, we headed to the closest bar to order a Shark Bite, and NONE of the 3 employees working behind the bar knew how to make the drink. DON’T WASTE YOUR MONEY!

Jimmy Buffett would be ashamed to have his name on this resort. There was only 1 person working at the check in counter and we were 4th in line and it too over an hour for her to get to us. Then, we had to park our trailer over 3 miles away from our room. When we FINALLY got to our room (over 2 hours after we initially arrived) the room smelled like mold and was filthy!!! The phone didn’t work, so we had to walk back to the front desk and wait in line again. The girl was friendly enough, but still did not have any help. We are NOW going on 3 hours, and asked for help with our bags, this time because now we are getting tired. A man reluctantly helped us with our bags, but was not happy about it. Our new room did not smell like mold, but there was a family of spiders living in the corner that I just learned to accept because I wasn’t going to ask for another room again. I went to the bar and had a margarita instead. I wouldn’t stay at this place again if it was free!! Beware!!

The check-in process was a bit lengthy, I'm sure due to the number of guests checking in however our room was not ready so that was a bit frustrating. The room was very clear and the property overall was great. I highly recommend this resort and I'm looking forward to returning.

Staff was very helpful and friendly. We miss having room service. Shuttles were a must as property is spread out and very hilly.

My girlfriend and I visited on an impromptu getaway and it was amazing. The bed was very comfortable and the lake view every morning from my bed was amazing. The staff was welcoming and made sure we were cared for. Thanks Mike-who during check-in was so informative and Shawn at License to Chill- ran the place alone with excellence!

Overall we had a good time and made the most of it. It was more of the fact of the “hype” and what you expect in a way for a resort to look like and it seemed more run down than expecting. We had an incident to where we came back to our room and our door was completely opened. As far back as the door could touch the wall. Staff were quick to send a security guard to talk with us and THANKFULLY nothing was taken. They are going to contact us letting us know what they were able to find out They just work there, so no issues with any of that, just the place itself. You could tell what it was back in the day and just sad to see what they let it become. I only right these honest reviews so people don’t spend the money and drive all that way and not get what you expect.

It has a lot of opportunity but a lot of room to improve. Took 27 minutes from the time I got in line until my check-in was completed. They did not have enough help for a busy Saturday afternoon checking people in. Also,when sitting at either of the the bars that we went to, no one seemed to be able to change a channel on the TVs without calling a manager. This just shouldn’t be that hard.

Great location on the lake with many services! Staff was great. I will always stay here when I am in town.

Boat slip and launch ramp very convenient. Hotel has many amenities and is centrally located on the lake.

Getting in and out of this place with a trailer is nearly impossible. The roads are tight and not much room to maneuver. Of course this is expected when right on the lake of the Ozarks however for a large of a complex this is parking is rather blah for a truck and trailer. For starters the place is rather dated. They were doing some renovations to the bathrooms on the main lobby area so seems like they are trying to keep it up but overall seems like an 80s resort.

Needs more sidewalks around the property but otherwise we had a fantastic weekend

Convenient location. Good service. A lot to do right there in the complex.

It’s very hilly so walking can be difficult, but they do have big golf carts that will pick you up and drop you off.

Great resort but lots of steep hills, the trolly service around the resort is a must.

While the surrounding area is great, this resort property was very out of date with a lot of deferred maintenance. Cleanliness was less than ideal. The food at breakfast wasn't very good. I don't recommend this property nor would I come back. One positive: the front desk staff was friendly and helpful.

The property is very well maintained. The 2 restaurants we tried were not very good. The one had a huge group that were so loud we had to leave and the pizza place was awful. Dining wise it was a total bust. The room is nice but the balcony light can’t be turned off and it attracts bugs. It doesn’t have a screen door so having fresh air is out of the question because of the light attracting bugs.

Staff very kind, clean room, balcony overlooking Lake, Landshark restaurant with good food and cold drinks. Also like the coffee shop for a quick bite in morning.

Overall my stay was fine, no major complaints. Minor issues: It was still spring, so it appears some of the dining facilities were closed or had limited hours. Obviously the property is rundown and in need of major renovations; I presume those are planned. A third negative is the lack of amenities--no coffee/tea/water in the lobby at all. Even modest hotels generally offer something.

Nice staff. Michael checked us in early. Great waiting staff. Ate at Landshark, Windrose, Biathouse, and drinks at Tiki Bar and Lobby bar. Great service. Shelbie waited on us this AM

This is a fairly old property that definitely needs some updating. However the food service was excellent.
