Best Western Premier NYC Gateway Hotel

We stayed at this hotel because we needed a place close to where we were spending most of our time, and for that purpose, it did the job. It’s a no-frills property, but it was reasonably priced and met our basic needs for the stay. My biggest disappointment was that the pool was closed. I specifically chose this hotel because it advertised a pool, and I knew our kids would be looking forward to using it. Unfortunately, it was out of service during our visit, and we weren’t made aware of that in advance. Overall, it’s a decent option if you just need a place to sleep and aren’t looking for many amenities — but definitely call ahead if there’s a specific feature you’re counting on.

Our room was nice, but we always choose a hotel with an in door pool, but our entire stay the pool wasnt working. So my kids were upset, the front desk would only give us an excuse, that a technician is coming, i check in on Tuesday and check out on Thursday, and the other guest told us they check in on monday and it wasnt working then

Great WiFi. On site evening bar with good pub food. Great helpful staff. Pool looked very good just didn’t get the chance.

Staff was awesome and the hotels is newer and very clean. Parking was great as well as you need a room key for the caged gate to open, so your car is locked in the garage which was nice. Hotel very close to Manhattan but the uber was still $60 each way due to tunnel toll. There is a shuttle a short walk that was 4 buck per person.

This place is great for the money that you pay. Not very far from bus stop to NY center but the slope to walk to the bus stop is just killing your knees after 2 days, lol. The pool is nice and clean. We didn’t try breakfast, you can go to nearby iHOP for better breakfast at the same price Closed door garage is a plus

Very nice room, pool and Gym. Comfortable bed. Easy indoor parking (important for summer and winter).

Staff very friendly and kind. Nice pool, very convenient parking - safe - in its own parking garage attached to hotel - and included in the price. Clean rooms. Convenient to NYC.

This Best western is really clean and quiet. There’s a nice bar and lounge on the 5th floor

Clean rooms and cleaning service everyday, new towels, sheets snd so on. Every day was like new room.

The beds were very comfortable, I liked having 4 pillows. The room looked very clean until I saw a big black dead water bug.

Checking in was very simple and quick, the private parking garage is great. The room was exactly as described and very roomy. The only issue with the room was one TV did not have great picture quality and the other kept turning off and on and did not work which was inconvenient but since it was only one night it did not really bother us much. Additionally, the sink in the bathroom was not very clean along the edges. The pool and work out area are great and no one else was in either so that was a plus. It is close enough to a lot of places to shop and eat and it only took us 15 mins to get into NY. Overall, we had a positive experience and are planning on staying again soon.

2 days in a row, house keeping failed to clean our room. On each instance, the front desk refused to acknowledge their error and refused to send cleaning staff to replace towels. Avoid Best Western.

Checking in was very simple and quick, the private parking garage is great. The room was exactly as described and very roomy. Bed was very comfortable

The room was comfy and clean. Just stayed a night but it worked out as we were in the area to watch a sporting event. The lighting in the bathroom was great for applying makeup and the bed was soft and cozy and I fell right to sleep as the hotel was so quiet.

Everything was good except the air conditioning was a little loud

We chose the hotel since it claimed the room is for 5 people. However, the extended sofa bed had quite bad condition and unacceptable mattress. Even the repair person admitted that the sofa bed was not for people sleeping at all. He reported to the hotel the situation but no one listened to him. The front desk knew this but could only offered extra thick blanket. It turned out that one of our family members had to sleep 4 nights on the sofa.

Overall hotel was nice, but a big turndown for us was when we were greeted by an arrogant guy named Santiago. We drove for almost 10 hours and reached there tired, and Santiago was busy chatting with another girl I did not get her name but was an employee on the same night. When asked a few questions, he snaps back at us, do you want this booking or I cancel it? Can you imagine that coming from a guy who was not interested to deal with us? Santiago was so rude, I wonder who even hired that kid unless he is a owner of that hotel. I don't believe he is in the hospitality industry with that attitude. The next morning we were dealing with an Indian guy who was so nice that he even started asking for apologies on Santiago's behalf. I would encourage management to seriously reconsider the behaviors of Santiago, other than that it's another hotel.

Front desk clerk was very helpful. He called me once i got to my room to tell me they had upgraded my room at no additional charge.

We had a very pleasant 3 day stay. Rooms were clean, very quiet. Great staff 😊

Perfect place for our NYC/USOpen visit! Easy 15 minute bus/shuttle ride to Manhattan to catch the subway to all of our destinations. Very clean, comfortable and quiet place to stay! Parking was included and so very convenient. We would stay here again!

The hotel itself was very clean and comfortable but in a very hard to find area. We had to circle several times as Apple and Google maps couldn't find the hotel. The parking was asy and free which was a plus. Overall, I still recommend and would stay again since the beds were incredibly comfortable and the shower had great water pressure. If industrial areas scare you then stay away.

Nice clean spot for a decent price considering it is 10 minutes from nyc.The hotel has a shuttle to the city the super 8 around the corner has a shuttle and if you dont want that 2 blocks away is NJT bus stop.Cant tell you last time i got good sleep at a hotel but this one was great.Nice bedding and overall quit.Great experience here.If there is anything I'd warn other travelers about it would be the absurd traffic.It is 5 mins from the Lincoln Tunnel it should be expected.If im rating on a scale of 1-10 I'd give my three night trip a 9.1

We stayed two nights as we wanted to be close to NYC and driving distance to friends in NJ. Not picturesque but if you want a hotel close to NYC without the expense and comfort and cleanliness (and free parking) I would highly recommend!!!

Everything was great. Location, close to the bus line to NYC, coffee shop, grocery store, and restaurant within walking distance. Rooms, clean, quite, and staff cleaned it everyday of our 4 day stay. Dedicated parking garage that is secure for hotel customers.

There were a few hiccups but the staff was friendly and helpful an handled the problems quickly. The beds were so comfortable and the shower was fantastic! Great water pressure and nice hot water! The pool was nice and really clean. Parking was safe and easy. Breakfast was really the only disappointment....it wasn't included so you'd think it would be really good quality but it was pretty bad...the potatoes were blanketed in pepper and not fully cooked. The omelette was dry and sort of chewy too.

Property was great. We've stayed here multiple times and always enjoyed it. There's a private city bus, that stops 5 minutes walking distance away from the hotel, close to the motel 6 up the street that will take you right into the city. The thing we didn't enjoy so much is the hotel used to offer complimentary breakfast which is no longer the case. Don't let the add fool you, if it's not already listed, breakfast isn't free and quite expensive.

Our stay at Best Western Premier NYC was excellent for the most part. The hotel’s cleanliness and parking facilities were fantastic! I really liked that the parking was gated access only. The area surrounding the hotel didn’t seem very safe or clean so gated parking 👍. I didn’t have to worry about my car being damaged or vandalized. The beds were super comfortable, great tv channel selection. The room has a microwave and fridge which is convenient! The location was great for us! There’s a Walmart, target and plenty of choices to eat or buy items on Tonnelle Ave. You’re also close to American Dream mall or NYC. Breakfast was cooked to order (made fresh). The prices were decent, the portion could have been a little better. The bacon is the microwave type. Free coffee and tea. Located in the lobby are some menus (Chinese and pasta/pizza) that deliver to the lobby. We tried Woks Cheese and it was FANTASTIC and fast! Considering the location it was super quiet all night. Cons: The store located in the lobby was severely lacking. It had a large selection of halls cough drops but barely any soda choices (no Coke, Pepsi or Dr Pepper). Chips were always mostly empty, limited snack options all together. It would have been nice to see pretzels, trail mix, granola bars, sandwiches and such. The hotel had no vending machines to compensate either. I’d highly recommend hitting up a WaWa for snacks and drinks before checking in. Shower water pressure was absolutely horrendous!

Breakfast is minimal, beds not so confortable

This is a very average three star hotel -nothing remarkable but fair. It was very disappointing that breakfast does not open before 8 am. There was no room service the food option was closed and the food and beverage for sale in the lobby barely worth mentioning. The biggest disappointment: this is a hotel it still uses little plastic shampoo and other toiletries. Unacceptable.

How does this place have 8.8 on hotels.com? How about splitting a shuttle into town with the other hotels in the area? We had to walk 15 minutes on the side of a busy highway with our two little kids to get back to the hotel from a regular public bus stop. Not safe at all. Restrictive hours on breakfast, pool, and gym use with no exceptions made. Junk “gym equipment”, which connotes of about 10 5lb weights, and the cheapest elliptical and treadmills money can buy. Blank stares from the desk clerk when I repeatedly couldn’t find a luggage cart. Most hotels round up carts during check in and check out. Gross, expensive breakfast that most hotels give away for free. The room was new and clean and the pool was warm but everything else was pretty lacking.

Breakfast was not part of our package but the complimentary coffee was late for each day. Took 15 minutes to replenish. There was only one staff person for this. If the coffee was more readily available, it would have been much better. Water was cold and readily available all the time though.
