This is just the coolest hotel. Great little shop at reception if you run out of drinks or snacks in your room. The pool is from another time, in the best way. Shower pressure was unbelievable, and I'm so glad they kept the old motel look to the rooms, despite the decor. This is a gem.

Great overnight stay to spend time doing things we love in Austin. Everything was great. Two things we didn’t love - there was some sort of party in the pool when we arrived. It was extremely crowded. That was a bummer because our plan was to swim before going out. I guess the hotel rents out their pool. If that’s the case, it would’ve been nice to know that ahead of time. Other thing we didn’t love was soap in the shower. It smelled very old and was dark brown. Everything else was awesome.

I’ve been coming to Austin for work/pleasure for years but have never stayed here before. I decided to take a chance and was rewarded with a fun, comfortable stay in the absolute middle of Congress Ave and all it has to offer! The staff were so attentive and welcoming and the FREE parking right outside my door was incredible! Loved the full mini-fridge and the lovely patio and pool area to hang out in! Safe, comfortable and so much retro fun!

The Austin Motel is located on South Congress, surrounded by some amazing restaurants, great shopping, entertainment and walkable to downtown. The hotel itself is retro and fun! The pool is the absolute best with a bar and music playing all day long! The entire staff is friendly and communicates well before, during and after your stay. We’ll definitely be back!!

Loved the pool area! The complimentary coffee in the lobby each morning was so good I had to find out what kind it was. Staff very nice! I thought the bed was comfy also. We will stay again when visiting Austin.oh and the free parking was a huge plus!

Love the location and that it had a pool. Pool area became a little too busy because guests were letting in non-guests and the Resort Pass. Took away from hotel guest being able to enjoy the pool, which was disappointing. The hotel room was great and location was perfect!

The staff here are all amazing and super kind. The pool is a huge plus, always love it. The rooms themselves could use some updating but nothing that doesn’t make staying here not worth it. Perfect location, lots of food options. Uncovered parking but there is a lot/its not open to a busy street

Staff was friendly and they left a dog bed and some bowls in the room for our dog. The room was really cute and comfy and we really liked it. The only issue is the floors could use a good mopping and the blanket appeared to have a burn mark on it. Overall a very nice stay and if we come back to Austin we will most likely stay again.

We had two unexpected guests (cockroaches), the front desk came promptly to remove one and my son killed another the next day. There was also filming/ photos going on which we had to wait to use the amenities because of. But the staff were very nice and apologetic which is why I didn’t score this lower. We won’t be going back unfortunately because of the roaches. We were constantly looking in the corners and in the sheets. My son was afraid to use the bathroom. I can’t unlink that image (fear) with the motel. It’s not an experience I wish to pay for again.

The hotel looks cool, but its not. Its dirty, we found two cockrouch and the front desk man answere was “Its a problem all over Austin”. But that a not all, thers also bedbugs. Highly disaponted of this hotel. Not recomended at all.

We had an east facing window. Blinds with no curtain, so I was awake at 6am. Honestly was up all night from the street lights coming in the window also. Then I got a parking ticket even though I registered my car. The front desk said they would take care of it, which was very nice. Not sure how to confirm that.

The retro decor was cool, but the room was real basic. The staff is super friendly and helpful. Although we didn’t get to use it, the pool and pool bar was really cool. The proximity to shopping, dining and entertainment district on S. Congress can’t be beat. Would definitely stay there again

Cute Funky hotel in the center of the action. Great Restaurants and activities within a 3 min walk. Cool decor Room and hotel Amenities are basic but functional. No desk, no iron, no coffee maker. (But coffee in the lounge and Jo's famous Coffee is a 1-min walk.)

Loved the location in the heart of South Congress, as well as the upgraded retro feel, and the pool. Only complaint is the air conditioning system, which sounds like a 747 taking off.

The location is pretty good, right near pretty much everything. The employees were very nice and helpful as well. It looked like the nicer rooms were up front and the standard rooms were in the back. Our standard room was just okay, the bathroom definitely needed a facelift and bathroom issues sorted- high water pressure felt like it was ripping skin off, shower curtain was too short for the tub, and the tub wouldn’t drain for a good while. Was a bit disappointed that the fridge has for-sale items rather than a spot for my items, and you have to go to the lobby for coffee. The floor above us creaked all day/night as people were walking around and the walls are thin. The bed was comfortable (albeit low to the ground) and the AC worked great. Plenty of room for all our luggage and items. Felt safe and plenty of food options nearby. I probably wouldn’t stay here again as the money value to comfort just wasn’t there with this one, especially when there are similarly priced places nearby that are newer with better amenities.

Good old school motel, drive up to your room door! One thing we didn't realize was how low the beds were to the ground, so a little difficult for older folks to get in and out of the bed. Very cute, the staff were all friendly. It is in a prime location. Even though it is supposedly safe, the forest room door was very hard to latch and wouldn’t latch when I left so had to switch rooms. They switched me next to the stairs and it was very noisy from the foot traffic, people in the parking lot, and rooms sermons me with loud kids. The next room also had just a lock on the handle, it was loose and didn’t feel secure. As a singular lady, didn’t feel the safest so I switched to another hotel. If it had a deadbolt, may have felt better. But the walls are so thin that you can hear everything. The property is iconic but is a bit older, the beds are very low to the ground.

The staff is fabulous. They're beyond friendly, helpful and kind. The tv in my room was showing its age, and didn't work with my firestick that I always use when traveling, but the cable worked and the wifi was strong. I was really looking forward to using the pool but the weather had other plans. There's an ice machine but I didn't see any beverage machines, so keep that in mind. I loved my stay!

great location, kinda of cute artsy redo of an old motel. Rooms have been updated with groovy wallpaper, new floors and that's about it. otherwise it feels like a 1950s no frills motel. rooms are very small, door locks are ancient and not very secure, bathroom is tiny with zero counter space, no shampoo, etc. provided. I knew rooms would be small but was suprised by condition. Exxpected more for $300+/night. Hyatt Regency was less

We spent the weekend visiting Austin. South Congress is a cool walkable area. We enjoyed our stay at the Austin Motel. The staff was EXTRA friendly! Amazing customer service. The only reason I gave it four stars is the size of the room and the fact it is a motel with a Hotel price tag. I fully understand we are paying for location, so I am not complaining, but wanted to be honest. Staff gets 5 stars! The pool is awesome! Parking is good. And it is safe.

Fun pool, Helena the lady at the front desk was miserable and mean. Check in is 3 and I did get there at 2:15 knowing I might not get an early check in which was no big deal. I live in Austin (right down the street actually) and I know the areas well. When I walked in she says Do you need something. Which took me off guard. Then I said I know I’m early but just check if room is ready and immediately she said no, never checked, said other people were here before me, come back at 3. Insanely rude. I stay at over 100 hotels a year and she’s at the top of the list for being rude. The hotel itself is cool. We really enjoyed the pool. Bed was comfortable. AC works great. I’d love to come back but I hope I avoid Helena.

Iconic Austin stay! Even though there was a private event booked for the pool, we were accommodated at their sister hotel, Hotel San Jose, which was an also an amazing experience!

Front desk was so personable, starting before our arrival with texts and answering questions about activities to do during our stay, easy checkin and awesome service right thru checkout. Extremely convenient location, was able to walk everywhere. Would highly recommend this for a fun visit to Austin.

My daughter just moved to Austin and I now have my favorite place to stay when we visit! Mattie, at the front desk, was super friendly, accommodating, hospitable and went out of her way to make sure my experience was excellent all around! Love the Austin Motel swag by the way! Brett at the bar was super nice as well!!

We always love staying at the Austin Motel, this was our 3rd or 4th time. We brought our dog along this time around. It was a last minute request and the hotel staff were so quick to accommodate. A pet bed and bowls were provided. The hotel pet fee is Extremely reasonable as well!

Iconic sign, friendly staff, clean rooms and a killer pool make this the best place to stay on S. Congress. Walked to the bat bridge, Lady Bird Lake , Home Slice and all the area has to offer. Saw a great show at The Continental Club late and easy walk to our room after!

I liked everything about the Austin Motel. It’s a fun, retro hotel in a swanky area with great restaurants and shops. I was able to walk everywhere. It’s not far from the Congress St. bridge where many people like to see the bats. It’s across the street from The Continental which is a fun bar with live music. The room itself was comfy with upbeat retro decor. The bed and pillows were amazingly comfortable! I’ll definitely stay there again.

The staff here are all amazing and super kind. The pool is a huge plus, always love it. The rooms themselves could use some updating but nothing that doesn’t make staying here not worth it. Perfect location, lots of food options. Uncovered parking but there is a lot/its not open to a busy street

Smells like a pool in the room. The carpet is old. Had some activities going on when we arrived. Very central to a lot of things to where you can walk to. Parking was not that bad. Could use a little more upgrading. The look is so cute and the beds are A-making. The decor was definitely very appealing and Kool. No coffee in room but in the front office. Has ice machine, water filtration area and hot water for tea and warming baby bottles.

Cute Funky hotel in the center of the action. Great Restaurants and activities within a 3 min walk. Cool decor Room and hotel Amenities are basic but functional. No desk, no iron, no coffee maker. (But coffee in the lounge and Jo's famous Coffee is a 1-min walk.)

We loved our stay! Our room was ridiculously retro and adorable! We appreciated all of the special touches including the thoughtfully curated snacks and minibar selection and the kick-ass robes! We walked to Guero's Taco bar for dinner, to the Continental Club for music, and the bar (Joanne's Fine Foods) for a copita board (tequila and fresh fruit juice). And to top it off, our truck was safely parked in their nice lot the entire time!

Good old school motel, drive up to your room door! One thing we didn't realize was how low the beds were to the ground, so a little difficult for older folks to get in and out of the bed. The bathrooms were tiny, but shower pressure was great! Staff was very friendly and helpful. Great food at nearby Joann's Fine Foods and awesome coffee across the street at Jo's.

Loved the pool area! The complimentary coffee in the lobby each morning was so good I had to find out what kind it was. Staff very nice! I thought the bed was comfy also. We will stay again when visiting Austin.oh and the free parking was a huge plus!

The Austin Motel is all about keeping Austin weird! Only stay here if you are happy to expect incredible service and lots of options to eat, drink and shop. Also, if you are needing a kitch pool you will find one of the best in Austin. Expect the pool bartender to take excellent care of you (Brett). Enjoy!

The location and the pool were great! Very friendly and helpful staff. The rooms are kitschy, but definitely need to be updated and have a more welcoming feel. The air conditioner needs to be updated as well. I know Texas is hot, but for this price point we needed to stay a lot cooler. We had a good stay, but very pricey for what you get.
