We loved staying here! The hotel is beautiful and they have a lot of different things to do. We stayed our last night in Lisbon as a place to relax and we wouldn’t have stayed anywhere else. The breakfast included was delicious and highly recommend going to the spa and attending the the Fado show

Delightful boutique hotel. The decor harkens back to the early 1900's. Breakfast was excellent. Staff could not have been nicer or more helpful. You might want to make a reservation for the dinner with Fado performances.

What a magnificent stay! The property is beautiful and lends itself to a rich and historic moment in time. The staff is very warm and encourage you to enjoy everything they have to offer. Breakfast is accompanied by a pianist/violinist, and you have your pick of dining experiences as there are multiple dining rooms (one overlooking the patio, and the other facing the entrance street). On my first night I had the pleasure of attending an intimate Fado dinner in the dining room overlooking the patio with some of the most amazing artists. Everyday in the cellar there is unlimited complimentary wine from local vineyards offered from 3pm - 8pm, which you can enjoy in the cellar and attached lounge, out on the terrace, or even in your room. The spa has a huge jacuzzi as well as a dry sauna, showers and the masseuse, Rita, was great. My room was elegant and spacious and the bed was comfortable as well. It’s conveniently located 2 blocks from the Baixa-Chiado metro, as well as a bunch of trams, and about a 10min walk from Pink Street and Barrio Alto. There are ample food options, and I thoroughly enjoyed spending the night people watching on the promenade located on the corner. Truly a great stay, and just like a guest I met who has stayed there 4 times, I can not wait for my next stay at Palácio das Especiarias!!

The room was a little small and could have had more outlets (obviously from being such an old building). However, the staff and amenities were definitely the star of this establishment. The staff were very friendly and helpful and wore adorable outfits. We arrived early and left late and were allowed to wait in the “living room” area upstairs and help ourselves to tea/snacks. The included continental breakfast was very nice and had quite a wide array of options and was accompanied by live music. In the downstairs cellar area, you could help yourself to wine and a cheese/bread/olive platter. We didn’t use the gym, but it looked sufficient. The massages cost extra which we didn’t book, however we did book a free slot to use their infrared sauna. We were the only ones down there and could freely use the sauna/showers/whirlpool and were served sparkling wine/water. Location was also pretty convenient. Would definitely stay again if in Lisbon.

This hotel was the best experience of the six hotels we stayed in over our 10 day vacation. The staff is super welcoming and helpful and their uniforms are magnificently charming. The location was fantastic for walking and touring the Old Town and there were plenty of dining options nearby. The room was quaint and fitting for the time period of that part of town. One fantastic highlight was the evening wine, bread, cheese, and olives in the hotel cellar. Pouring your own wine, any or all of three choices, out of a huge barrel and listening to classic Fado music in the relaxing atmosphere was one of the most memorable experiences we had the entire vacation. Highly recommend this hotel!

If you want to experience history, convenient location and luxury, coming here is a MUST. I visit here for my birthday in October and I felt like I was in another world. My absolute favorite experience here was the massage and groto! 5stars!! Everyone was friendly and seriously this place is exceptional. You want to feel like royalty and the convenience of all the shops in walking distance was perfect!! I can’t get over how lovely this palace is!! Breakfast was great and so was the complimentary wine. The decor is well maintained and beautiful. I loved having two balconies! I cannot wait to comeback!!

This hotel offered a very unique experience - a refurbished palace from 1800!! how fabulous. there were welcome/anytime drinks at the bar with custard tarts, wine tasting with a great outside lounge area, intimate spa facilities and a great breakfast with hot and cold selections including a great selection of fresh baked pastries. the staff were soooo friendly and helpful. The ONLY negative to be aware of is if you get a room facing the street it may prove to be a bit noisy if you are a light sleeper.

beautiful hotel, very friendly and helpful staff, clean property, great convenient location to restaurants, shopping, points of interest, very good breakfast in a beautiful setting. the hotel is an old mansion so there are few steps up and down the hallways, not for ppl with walking issues. there’s a very tiny elevator in building. my wife thought the shower floor is too slippery, but bathrooms were updated and beautifully decorated. i would recommend this hotel.

We enjoyed staying here for three nights. All of the staff were genuinely very friendly and reachable. We enjoyed the variety of the breakfast too, especially loved the tropical fresh fruits. The rooms were a bit small but not a big issue as we don’t spend all the time in the room and not sure if all rooms has this problem but there was a weird smell (likely from poor ventilation from a restaurant beside?). Everything was very clean. Overall cozy hotel and staff.

We loved the variety of the breakfast items and how clean the property was. There was a live music during the breakfast with piano and violin players, who were wonderful. Please inquire about their spa services that include sauna. It is about 1 hour spot that my daughter and I have tremendously enjoyed on one of the evening. While at the spa, the towels and robes were provided, along with chocolates and sparkly wine for me :). I loved everything about the hotel. However, the room, while charming, was quite tiny. Also, while tea and ability of bigger size cup to brew, there was no cups to accommodate that, so making tea was somewhat of a hassle that required multi-cup manipulation, so I would recommend adding bigger size caps for the tea drinkers inside the rooms. Otherwise, the room was lovely and had a lot of character. I chose this property based on it’s location, price and style and it was everything just as described. One comment is bathroom is very small, no room to unpack or store your toiletries and shower door hits toilet seat. Breakfast was wonderful and loved the live music entertaining while having breakfast.

The hotel itself is great. Located in the heart of Chiado area and 5 min stroll to Baixa-Chiado Metro Station. The various trams stop a few meters away. Loads of places to eat nearby. The staff are fantastic. Always very helpful, and smiles on faces. A credit. Rooms are great. We had Canela 4. Small juliet balcony and large french doors. Only problem we had was a drain smell at times in bathroom, and pillows not the best, but cant let that detract from overall greatness of the place. Violin and piano at breakfast not everyones cup of tea but was a lovely touch. Breakfast was good. Didn't use spa area. Garden lovely. A must be place to stay, in a brilliant location. We will definatly stay here again if we go back to lisbon, and will recommend to friends. Well done all

From our room with terrace views & beautiful tub, breakfast with live beautiful music and the character and beauty of the hotel throughout. This hotel offered a very unique experience - a refurbished palace from 1800!! how fabulous. there were welcome/anytime drinks at the bar with custard tarts, wine tasting with a great outside lounge area, intimate spa facilities and a great breakfast with hot and cold selections including a great selection of fresh baked pastries. the staff were soooo friendly and helpful. The ONLY negative to be aware of is if you get a room facing the street it may prove to be a bit noisy if you are a light sleeper.

It’s all about the location, close to restaurants and sightseeing venues… but also this area gets very busy and noisy especially if you are staying in a room on the 1st and 2nd floors facing the street. The third floor is quieter. The rooms are very comfortable but the fourth night when I changed room to the 2nd floor despite the room being nicer I could sleep all night owing to the outside noises, and early in the morning the staff start working on the bkfast and that also causes noises. Diogo and Antonio are the best front desks staff one can get, very helpful and friendly always eager to assist the guests with their needs. The bkfast is very lavish but after two days one gets tired as the food is exactly the same which gets boring. It’s a beautiful historic building but it lacks some reality as nobody really know the history of the building apart from being a Manor House of a spice trader, and the computer printed paintings are very tacky and definitely do not match the beautiful house and pieces of furniture.

The hotel is within walking distance from the waterfront, dining, the tram stops and metro stations, and many major attractions that Lisbon has to offer. The staff is fantastic, very helpful and genuinely friendly. The property itself is beautiful. The breakfast was delicious, with so many choices. I can go on and on... We are dfinitely staying there again next time we are in Lisbon!

The management, Patricia refused to deal with an egregious billing error created by the hotel. I was billed 195 euro last spring by expedia for the 8th night of a 8 night booking, which was cancelled in error by the hotel . After rebooking and paying through expedia for the 8th night, the hotel refused to refund the 195euro on the first booking , and took the room cost from my expedia account again .Patricia had all the proof of payments, but never got back to me, and claimed they received no money from Expedia,despite my proving otherwise with Expedia receipt statements. . Obviously Expedia and my Amex paid for the first 7 nights and the 8th night. Patricia was very unhelpful, asking for copies of my bank account, when it was clear that the 8 nights were paid by credit card. To add insult to injury , after my return home, the hotel billed my US MC $247.45! .So I have to fight for the 195euros, as well as a $247.75 US MC charge. To summarize, I paid 3 times for one night , and I spent several hours trying to resolve it at the hotel with a very uncooperative “ manager “ who was unnecessarily adversarial. I paid $4121.10 for 7 nights for Nos Moscada 05, which was very dated, and a tripping hazard. The walls were sloped, so at 5’2”, I was hitting my head. I was charged 3 times, as outlined previously, for the 8th night. A frustrating and stressful end to an otherwise good vacation.

Loved the staff and beautiful property and amenities. The staff were absolutely wonderful to us and did everything possible to make our stay great! The Fado performance and dinner offered at the hotel was magnificent with fabulous performers. My wife and I loved it here and would stay again any time. So grateful to have stayed here. Obrigado!!!

The hotel room was very clean and the breakfast vas very good. And this is the extent of positive things about this hotel. Check in was extremely slow. Only one person working at the reception desk paying no attention to the guests. Called reception several times and no one answered the call. When they finally answered they sent wrong items to the room only after I went to the reception in person complaining about the wait. Manager extremely rude, unapologetic and providing excuses instead of solutions.

Pero lo mejor el personal , todos encantadores,recepción amabilísimos, y las chicas del comedor por la mañana simpatiquisimas. Beautiful hotel, centrally located -between Bairro Alto and Chiado. Lovely amenities, nice decor, enjoyed the breakfast, the room was reasonably soundproofed and the staff was very friendly. If you can make the time, reserve a table for their Fado dinner show.

This is the best hotel of our two week driving trip in Portugal. It has perfect central location , walkable to many places, subway just a few minutes away, and public parking for your car ( if you are driving) is a few minutes away as well. It is remodeled very old buildings with charm. It makes you feel you are staying in Castle. Breakfast is fantastic, they serve it in 2 rooms with piano musician. They also have wine cave, spa, terrace outside. Every single person who works here is extremely helpful and nice. Due to unforeseen circumstances, we had to stay longer, and they made it work for us, and attended to all our needs. We are very grateful for all the Hôtel personnel and can’t recommend enough this place for your stay.

We really enjoyed our stay here! Everything was beautiful and looked just like the photos. We were on the first floor and there was some street noise because it is close to a busy area but it is on a quieter street and it was quieter in the room than I expected. Breakfast was great and had so many options. The staff were all friendly and helpful and I would definitely recommend this place!

The staff was very helpful and kind, and the conveniently located hotel is beautiful with excellent breakfasts. We stayed three nights at the end of our vacation. We were in a very small room at street level. It turned out to be quite noisy at night due happy soccer fans and nighttime revelers.

This hotel offered a very unique experience - a refurbished palace from 1800!! how fabulous. there were welcome/anytime drinks at the bar with custard tarts, wine tasting with a great outside lounge area, intimate spa facilities and a great breakfast with hot and cold selections including a great selection of fresh baked pastries. the staff were soooo friendly and helpful. The ONLY negative to be aware of is if you get a room facing the street it may prove to be a bit noisy if you are a light sleeper.

For those who long to stay in an 18th or 19th century palace, Palacio fits the bill. The decor brings one back to the luxury of a foregone era, but in a good way and with the inclusion of modern amenities. Also conveniently located near Praca de Luis de Camoes with many dining options nearby and attractions within walking distance. The sole disappointment was the breakfast experience- we had scheduled a couple of early events and on the first morning were told by staff that taking something to go prior to the official start time of breakfast was not permitted. Disappointed, we were fortunately able to grab some delicious pastries across Praca Camoes which satisfied our need for a quick bite. The next morning, we learned that travel breakfasts are provided for guests with early activities, which is a nice touch, though not nearly as satisfying as a buffet breakfast, but I suppose that is the tradeoff of having a packed schedule. Our final morning, we were finally able to enjoy the breakfast buffet. Overall, I enjoyed the antique decor, staff attentiveness, and location, such that I would return when visiting Lisbon again.

As a result of a flight cancellation we had a one night stay here. We received a very good welcome and were shown to a very splendid looking room. The bed itself was very comfortable but the pillows were artificial and not as comfortable (adequate for purpose but not great). The en-suite shower room was compact, especially when compared to the very spacious bedroom. Our breakfast experience was haphazard: it was spread across several rooms and there wasn’t anyone to greet us and explain the setup and where to find the various food items that were on offer. Once we had established what was available and where we enjoyed a very good breakfast.

This is a must stay if you’re visiting Lisbon. The rooms are so charming, the staff welcoming, and the amenities plentiful. It is in a perfect location, walkable to most everything, including a metro, lovely cafes, the waterfront, and other desired sites. Our favorite perk besides the exquisite breakfast spread is the wine cave! We have stayed here twice and we will be back!

Delightful boutique hotel. The decor harkens back to the early 1900's. Breakfast was excellent. Staff could not have been nicer or more helpful. You might want to make a reservation for the dinner with Fado performances.

Everything about this place is wonderful… but the service is the best part. Friendly and helpful employees go out of their way to make your stay enjoyable. This hotel is loaded with charm, the breakfast is an exceptional experience and the evening wine and cheese board is a great touch.

There were lots of special amenities that I appreciated including use of the Roman bath and sauna in the spa. I also appreciated the complimentary wine, cheese, olives and bread each evening. The decor was beautiful, with wonderful furniture and art and quirky layouts that made the old palace charming and inviting and a delight. The staff was terrific, the complimentary breakfast was delicious, and the location was in the heart of the old part of town. One of my favorite hotels of all time.
