Hotel is location is perfect, with beech front access, with plenty of bars & restaurants within walking distance. Room was good with a very cold plunge pool & separate seating area to relax. Unfortunately due to shortage of staff, bars located by pools were not open, therefore no ability to get drinks or food there which was a bit disappointing. The hotel is looking a bit tired & could do with some areas being upgraded to bring it back to a high standard.

The service is the best part of this resort. From the servers, to housekeeping to Samantha at the front desk, everyone is attentive and super nice. The beach is gorgeous and most of the rooms are nice (some are a bit basic but also cheaper). Location is great. Entrance is a bit iffy and is easy to miss.

Cute design. Boho chic. Good food but expensive. A few things to be aware of: - Pre-registration / check-in: A lengthy registration acknowledgement form is required prior to arrival. Lots of rules! - Check-in: The hotel sent a QR code which we had assumed was for parking. It was not. It was actually to get into the hotel and you have to click a certain button to be able to use it. Hence just getting access the first day was hard. -Parking: There is no signage and the gate is locked at all times. You have to ask the hotel any time you want to use your vehicle and there were restrictions on hours. - Service times: They don't have staff on site at all times so you have to check in prior to 6pm and you have to make reservations 24 hours in advance to use the gym or rooftop hot tubs. - Infinity Pool / Rooftop: were beautiful and somewhere you'd want to have a drink or food but they don't serve any and you're not allowed to bring anything up there. - Filtered water: Only housekeeping offers this and you get 2 medium sized refillable bottles a day. The reception will not support any extra refill requests. - Smell: We stayed in a ground floor beach front unit and sometime smelled a faint scent of sewage in our room. This might be a plumbing issue and seemed to occur at other places along the strip as well so probably a common issue for many hotels there. -Service fee: Missed it when we booked but they charged 7% on top of our hotels.com rate. Very unfriendly staff at reception: we arrived after 6pm and received a Whatsapp at 4pm (we were on a flgiht) with a QR code to enter the building and no indications where we could find our rooms' keys. The reception hours are vague to say the least. Reception is sometimes not present until 11.30am or after 5pm. The entrance after 6pm is from a very dark narrow corridor which is clearly meant to be a side entrance for workers, rather than guests. The driver that reception suggested for trips into town charged 33% more than regular taxis and was never on time, in the 10 days we were in Tulum. The food on the beach took 3 hours to arrive on january 1st: we ordered at 1pm and got food at 4pm and received no excuses nor discount. The bars at the roof terrace swimming pool were not open and we were told we could not take our own food/drinks - then, what's the point of having a roof terrace with a pool? The location is good (although the two side properties are abandoned), the rooms are large and well cleaned; the rest is not worth the money. Much better choices in Tulum in this price range. We paid 5-star prices for a 3-star hotel. One last thing: the suite with its own pool is a trap. The main window is on the main street and there's a lot of noise in that room. And the water in the pool cannot be heated. Only cold water.

Let’s start by saying that the staff at the 2 restaurants were delightful, engaging and hospitable. Our room was lovely- if a bit rustic- but had a gorgeous view. The shower is cool, bed was comfy, perfect pillows. Lots of fresh water provided. Only bummer was the thatched roof leaked (kind of significantly) during a particularly strong rainstorm. Now for the rest: we came in the offseason- and it was VERY apparent. Hotel ran out of clean beach towels, food prices were exorbitant (walk down the beach to the more elevated hotel, Amansala, and pay 1/2 the price), had a significant credit for drinks but there were so many restrictions we had virtually no choices, concierge was not to be found, reception was rarely onsite with spotty communication- you get the picture. The most egregious factor, though, was the rooftop “pavilion”. Though the view is amazing- it is clear that it has been abandoned for years. Broken chairs, janky ladder to (amazing) infinity pool, general disrepair. All told, the Hotelito Azul is a little gem. The vegetation is incredible, the vibe is on point, and it feels rustic, yet inviting. But they need to step it up in order to compete with the plethora of choices on this beach alone that offer updated accommodations and amenities. Or at least deliver what they promised.

We booked last minute and got a great deal on a ocean suite. The cabin was adorable and view amazing. Everyone at the hotel is very friendly and helpful. The gym is modern and well equipped. The rooftop deck and infinity pool is fantastic and sets the hotel apart.

The hotel is just okay and looks nothing like the pictures online. The biggest issue is the condition of the pools and deck flooring—there’s clearly a lot of deferred maintenance. The lobby is nice, with a quaint boutique feel, but it wasn’t really open during our stay. September is their slow season, so the restaurant had very limited hours and most menu items were unavailable. The front desk operates on a similar schedule, open roughly from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. If you need anything outside those hours, you have to contact them through WhatsApp, which is slow and inconvenient. To be fair, the staff were very friendly and genuinely tried to be helpful, but the service overall was lacking. Our ocean-view room was spacious, close to the water, and had a great view. It did have a bit of an “earthy” feel—not quite our style—but it was still comfortable. Overall, the hotel feels tired and in need of investment. If you can get a good deal, it might be worth considering, but at over $400 a night for an ocean-view room, we felt it was overpriced for what you actually get. Nice people who try hard, but the owners need to put some money into the property—or at least update the photos to reflect reality.

Everything was perfect from the beginning to end. Our rooms were tidy and clean and also air conditioned. We had a jungle view room, on the treehouse. Our shower ran hot and cold water and was clean. No bugs, clean towels. The pool areas and the beach area felt clean and private. We heard music the first night but it stopped around 9 pm. We highly recommend.

Tulum is beautiful, and the hotel aesthetically is very nice. We had a bumpy check-in, but they did resolve the issue, so for that I was thankful. We booked an ocean view room, expecting an ocean view, but upon arrival, our room could only see a sliver of the ocean, more like a partial ocean view... This was quite disappointing for what we paid $$$. However, we went back to the front desk, and they gave us a new room with a much better view in the same room price. The room was okay itself, the bathroom had an odd stench, and there were lots of ants, in the bathroom, and also in the room near the fridge, and unfortunately, they got into our food in the fridge. All of Tulum is expensive, but I felt like what we paid for the room, it could have been nicer. Housekeeping only came around 4 pm, which was a bit frustrating. The food and drinks in the hotel are outrageously expensive. The first morning we wanted additional coffee than what was provided in our room, and it cost $30 USD for 2 small coffees and 1 juice. Later we went to the rooftop area, which is super cool, and got 2 palomas and it was $23 USD for 1 drink... I live in LA, and that seems high for LA, much less for Mexico... overall, the property was beautiful, the room was okay, and the staff was alright. If I return to Tulum, I will probably try to stay somewhere else.

Yes. Flavio VERY helpful, as was everyone else. Esmeralda, cleaner, good. Helpful staff. But the lighting in the room and bathroom was very dim. Yes, we are older, in our 60s and 70. But we couldn't see to read. Beach clean. Restaurant workers helpful and cheerful.

Our stay at Hotelito Azul was extremely disappointing. The only positive aspect of this property is the staff — they were kind and professional, and my frustrations are clearly beyond their control. There is no proper reception area, and the overall property feels neglected. The hotel is in serious need of updating. Unfortunately, neither pool was usable due to construction, and we were not informed of this prior to arrival. Had we known, we absolutely would not have booked. The property is very overpriced for what you receive. While it’s in a quieter area, it’s a bit of a walk to reach restaurants and shopping on either end of the strip. Entry to the hotel relies on a QR code system that was very finicky and inconvenient. The beach area was especially disappointing — ripped, worn cushions and old towels, with a strict one-towel policy. The neighboring properties on both sides are vacant and filled with trash, which detracts from the overall experience. We also had to wait two hours past check-in time to receive our room. Overall, this hotel does not match the price point or expectations set online. I would not stay here again.

I stayed at Hotelito Azul with my wife and 2-year-old son in Jan 2025. Our stay was wonderful. Once you get in you feel you’re really in a tropical dream world. The vibe is very chill and relaxing from the moment you’re in the reception area. The grounds are gorgeous and you always feel you’re in a jungle wherever you’re going (from the reception area to the room, pool, beach, etc). The room decoration is in a sophisticated rustic style without compromising comfort. The 2 pools and the 2 jacuzzis are located on the rooftop, which offer a fantastic 360 view of the ocean at the front and the jungle in the back. The staff is friendly and very professional offering an efficient service. GRISELDA, the lady who would clean our room was very friendly and make a different surprise to our son everyday (she would fold the towels in different shapes such as a dog or a dino, which our son loved). We had only an issue that was quickly resolved: there was a bit loud music on the rooftop and the baby couldn’t fall asleep, but once I asked the staff they turned down the volume. After that, I could only hear the sea waves and the wind on the palm trees. The hotel grounds leads directly on to the beach which is gorgeous with white sand and warm blue water. They have two restaurants (Olivia and Agave) with great food. One should only be aware of the prices that are on par with what you pay in an expensive city like NYC. Also, breakfast is not included.
I stayed at Hotelito Azul with my wife and 2-year-old son in Jan 2025. Our stay was wonderful. Once you get in you feel you’re really in a tropical dream world. The vibe is very chill and relaxing from the moment you’re in the reception area. The grounds are gorgeous and you always feel you’re in a jungle wherever you’re going (from the reception area to the room, pool, beach, etc). The room decoration is in a sophisticated rustic style without compromising comfort. The 2 pools and the 2 jacuzzis are located on the rooftop, which offer a fantastic 360 view of the ocean at the front and the jungle in the back. The staff is friendly and very professional offering an efficient service. First off, the moment you walk in, you’re greeted with a huge sniff of moldiness. Thats when i knew this isnt gna be good. They charge you for everything. The moment you arrive to check-in, you are charged a ‘service charge’ and a deposit hold. If they have my cc on file, why do they charge for deposit? Didnt make sense. Honestly, the place itself and the rooms felt dingy. I understand its the ‘jungleish vibe, and very hippyish’ but as far as sanitation -wise , didnt meet standards. Everything on this hotel is purely for aesthetic and all the amenities have no purpose. Its like the teemu version of a hotel that has potential with the right management/ownership who is willing to focus what people will pay for. Instead, this almost feels like a bait and switch. They bait you with aesthetic decor and picture by social media influencers but the quality falls significantly short. Please book elsewhere where you the price you’re paying for is what its worth. I dont mind paying $ for value but unfortunately this place is not a hit. All the staff on the property were super friendly and nice. Room did not have hot water. Attempted to have hotel fix the issue twice, during which they gaslit us and told us that the water was in fact warm (when it was basically room temperature). Eventually the hotel manager told us that the entire building (that our room was in) had an issue with the water heater. We left after one night and the hotel refused to refund us. This would have been a nice enough hotel if they solved their basic infrastructure issues. In most of the world, lodging is not deemed habitable without hot water. If this was a budget hotel or hostel, I would have been more understanding of the rustic conditions. For $300 / night and a hotel trying to offer a luxurious setting, this really is not acceptable.

Nice hotel but disappointing experience : staff is very nice (cleaning woman was so friendly), bedrooms are spacious, eco friendly environment. However our room was literally sharing a wall with the restaurant where the music was so loud that we could not have a nap, relax or sleep well the entire 6 days. Same thing on the beach, loud music from 11am-evening. We decided to pick a small hotel to avoid the craziness of the resorts but actually it was the same. We had to ask daily to lower it down. We heard other people complaining about the loud music too. Also the restaurants of the hotel are very expensive (more than in NY). Beach is very nice with chairs and towels, 2 great rooftops, and a very well equipped and modern gym.

A very strange “luxury” boutique hotel experience. The room we eventually stayed in was beautiful, with ocean views and the sound of waves at night—but getting there was chaotic. We arrived around 7pm and were told via WhatsApp there would be no front desk staff and our key would be in the room. They initially didn’t tell us which room, then changed it from 5 to 6, and sent QR codes to access barriers and doors. The hotel was hard to find: no signage, no clear parking, and a dark street. After driving past several times, a waiter helped us but left us at an unmarked gate that turned out to be the car park. Not a great first impression. Room 6 was meant to be a beachside suite with ocean views, but it was on the ground floor with overgrown vegetation blocking the view, no furniture, and a covered hot tub we hadn’t requested. With no staff on site, we had to message repeatedly via WhatsApp to move rooms. After a long day of travel from the UK, the first night was very frustrating. The next morning, the room and view were stunning. However, there was no information about the hotel, no explanation of facilities, and no in-room guide—an online info pack would be essential if staff leave after 6pm. Breakfast was tasty, but I had to send back toast due to visible mould. The grounds are beautiful, the beach lounges great, and the gym was excellent—a real highlight. Thanks to Griselda, the cleaner. A disappointing hotel overall, looks around there are many better for less money.

Tulum is beautiful and this property was no exception. Given the many wonderful options thus top tier customer service is a must as an opposed to a sometimes to deserve a high rating. I was in an ocean front suite. This came at a premium it was wonderful…except…the one side was where the restaurant is. Literally one of your windows looks directly in there. It was thus not quiet. The onsite restaurant staff were wonderful. The hotel staff was not. I got there slightly earlier than check in and they first said my room was not ready and when the bathroom they offered me to get ready was apparently not available for an hour for cleaning, miraculously my room was ready. Note that the hotel likely has room for over 50 and there were about 5 guests so why they couldn’t have a room ready was already odd. I asked for help getting a taxi and was quoted a ridiculous price and they weren’t willing to try to assist in getting a better price but instead told me I could try myself by walking the road. I was a female travelling alone. I was easily able to get a better deal which begs the question why weren’t they. Check out was equally frustrating by being advised late in the evening before my early flight when one of the restaurants was closed already I had to pay for each of the restaurants IN THE HOTEL separately and it may take awhile. Made my last moments rushed and stressful. This property wasn’t for me but I think a younger crowd would enjoy it as it’s cool with its rooftop pool.

We were given a room which did not reflect the price or features of the room which we intended to book. At the time of check-in, Samantha, the manager of Hotelito Azul, admitted that the room's description on the website did not match the actual room, and admitted that she would have to make adjustments on the website. We asked if another room was available, and were told no. Not wanting to cause problems, we accepted the room as-is and assumed that we would be able to receive a rebate at the time of check out. At check-out time, besides ignoring us for hours as we tried to reach her, Samantha became aggravated by our desire to rectify the problem, and made several points which were not true: namely that she offered us a different room (she did not), and that the greenery, which was obstructing the ocean view, had been trimmed. This also had not occurred, as could easily be seen by anyone who inspected the room. We tried reaching out to the hotel directly, and were met with a hostile, confrontational attitude by someone who claimed that they would report us to the authorities for fraud, as if we were trying to defraud the hotel in some way. In the meantime, they have changed the room details on their website. We have screen shots of the before and after. Of note: the manager of the hospitality department met us personally as we were on our way out and expressed his deep sympathies with our plight. It seemed as if he was aware that we had been given poor treatment.

I did not stay at the hotel after seeing the accomodations. I booked an oceanview suite with Hotelito Azul believing that it in fact had an oceanview. The room we were supposed to have had absolutely no view at all. The front desk lady showing us the grounds said that she is not responsible for how the room is described online but that the oceanview rooms available do not have the oceanview. She understood our disappointment and frustration as this is false advertisement. However, she did not allow us to cancel the room and said we would not get a refund. After speaking with Expedia representatives, the situation was still not resolved. We never even recieved a key or stayed until check in hours. We left after seeing the accomodations and had to pay for another hotel that actually offered an oceanview room as stated in the description. Hotelito completely takes advantage of people and falsely advertises their accomodations. Gardenview and oceanview are not the same price so they should not be the same room. I am very disappointed with how Expedia and Hotelito handled the situation. They understand how the room is falsely advertised but keep your money. It was not the best way to start off a vacation meant for relaxation. Save yourself the disappointment and book with Hotel Cananas Tulum down the street. It was beautiful and the service was exceptional. Hotelito Azul should not be able to get away with doing this to people.

Very unfriendly staff at reception: we arrived after 6pm and received a Whatsapp at 4pm (we were on a flgiht) with a QR code to enter the building and no indications where we could find our rooms' keys. The reception hours are vague to say the least. Reception is sometimes not present until 11.30am or after 5pm. The entrance after 6pm is from a very dark narrow corridor which is clearly meant to be a side entrance for workers, rather than guests. The driver that reception suggested for trips into town charged 33% more than regular taxis and was never on time, in the 10 days we were in Tulum. The food on the beach took 3 hours to arrive on january 1st: we ordered at 1pm and got food at 4pm and received no excuses nor discount. The bars at the roof terrace swimming pool were not open and we were told we could not take our own food/drinks - then, what's the point of having a roof terrace with a pool? The location is good (although the two side properties are abandoned), the rooms are large and well cleaned; the rest is not worth the money. Much better choices in Tulum in this price range. We paid 5-star prices for a 3-star hotel. One last thing: the suite with its own pool is a trap. The main window is on the main street and there's a lot of noise in that room. And the water in the pool cannot be heated. Only cold water.

Ocean view villa had a spectacular view of the ocean. Even with the beach just steps away, we rarely felt the need to leave our comfy balcony because of the view. It's better than the pictures show. Staff was good and responsive, but wifi/internet was poor and didn't really work except in one small corner of the room. But because of the location, it was nice to "unplug" for the weekend. The food was expensive, but above average quality (even compared to other 5 star spots in Tulum), and every meal we had for breakfast/lunch/dinner was good. Griselda from housekeeping was amazing and friendly and brought us new towel animals every day!

We paid for oceanfront and got the room at what the front office called "first line" on the ocean so it was ocean "front" but absolutely no ocean view. They offered to let us know if one room would become available at a cost. The bar/restaurant staff were amazing. The rooms are spacious and clean.

I had a wonderful stay at Hotelito Azul! The staff were warm, welcoming, and always ready to help with anything I needed, which made my experience even more special. I want to give a special shoutout to Griselda from housekeeping, she was absolutely amazing! So kind, attentive, and always made sure everything was spotless and comfortable during my stay. You can really tell she cares about her work and about the guests. I’d definitely recommend Hotelito Azul to anyone looking for a relaxing and well-cared-for getaway. To begin with, the hotel staff was friendly, helpful, and housekeeping was very good. What felt unnecessarily complicated was that most requests had to go through WhatsApp and only during limited hours. This made simple things difficult, such as getting fresh towels for the pool or the beach. The same applied to access to the gym. Bike rental was also unclear. The company the hotel collaborates with never showed up, although there are alternatives available directly on the beach. The same issue occurred with airport transportation. The transfer arrived late, which caused stress on the way to the airport. Unfortunately, Tulum seems to have seen its best days. Many hotels are closed, restaurants are deserted, and there is a lot of trash on the beach and along the jungle edge. We were given a room which did not reflect the price or features of the room which we intended to book. At the time of check-in, Samantha, the manager of Hotelito Azul, admitted that the room's description on the website did not match the actual room, and admitted that she would have to make adjustments on the website. We asked if another room was available, and were told no. Not wanting to cause problems, we accepted the room as-is and assumed that we would be able to receive a rebate at the time of check out. At check-out time, besides ignoring us for hours as we tried to reach her, Samantha became aggravated by our desire to rectify the problem, and made several points which were not true: namely that she offered us a different room (she did not), and that the greenery, which was obstructing the ocean view, had been trimmed. This also had not occurred, as could easily be seen by anyone who inspected the room. We tried reaching out to the hotel directly, and were met with a hostile, confrontational attitude by someone who claimed that they would report us to the authorities for fraud, as if we were trying to defraud the hotel in some way. In the meantime, they have changed the room details on their website. We have screen shots of the before and after. Of note: the manager of the hospitality department met us personally as we were on our way out and expressed his deep sympathies with our plight. It seemed as if he was aware that we had been given poor treatment.

Our stay at Hotelito Azul was extremely disappointing. The only positive aspect of this property is the staff — they were kind and professional, and my frustrations are clearly beyond their control. There is no proper reception area, and the overall property feels neglected. The hotel is in serious need of updating. Unfortunately, neither pool was usable due to construction, and we were not informed of this prior to arrival. Had we known, we absolutely would not have booked. The property is very overpriced for what you receive. While it’s in a quieter area, it’s a bit of a walk to reach restaurants and shopping on either end of the strip. Entry to the hotel relies on a QR code system that was very finicky and inconvenient. The beach area was especially disappointing — ripped, worn cushions and old towels, with a strict one-towel policy. The neighboring properties on both sides are vacant and filled with trash, which detracts from the overall experience. We also had to wait two hours past check-in time to receive our room. Overall, this hotel does not match the price point or expectations set online. I would not stay here again.

Samantha and the rest of the staff were very friendly, welcoming, and attentive. The hotel is super cute with gorgeous plants, clean rooms, and a great spot on the beach. The Agave restaurant associated with the hotel was delicious. They have the tallest vantage point along the coast of Tulum so you can enjoy sunset over the trees and sunrise over the ocean. They also have a coffee service included where they bring you freshly roasted coffee and leave it outside your room at your desired time. Would definitely stay here again!

Let’s start by saying that the staff at the 2 restaurants were delightful, engaging and hospitable. Our room was lovely- if a bit rustic- but had a gorgeous view. The shower is cool, bed was comfy, perfect pillows. Lots of fresh water provided. Only bummer was the thatched roof leaked (kind of significantly) during a particularly strong rainstorm. Now for the rest: we came in the offseason- and it was VERY apparent. Hotel ran out of clean beach towels, food prices were exorbitant (walk down the beach to the more elevated hotel, Amansala, and pay 1/2 the price), had a significant credit for drinks but there were so many restrictions we had virtually no choices, concierge was not to be found, reception was rarely onsite with spotty communication- you get the picture. The most egregious factor, though, was the rooftop “pavilion”. Though the view is amazing- it is clear that it has been abandoned for years. Broken chairs, janky ladder to (amazing) infinity pool, general disrepair. All told, the Hotelito Azul is a little gem. The vegetation is incredible, the vibe is on point, and it feels rustic, yet inviting. But they need to step it up in order to compete with the plethora of choices on this beach alone that offer updated accommodations and amenities. Or at least deliver what they promised.

It didn’t end here, on our final night in Tulum we opted to end the night early and planned to take a dip in the above-ground hot tub on the rooftop (side note, it closes the second the clock strikes 10 pm). Surprise-surprise, the heater was broken in the hot tub. The rooftop bar staff asked if they could make it up to us by offering us a beer, we accepted and then presented with a check for $16 (USD) for two Modelo’s. We asked if they could charge it to our room since we had no cash or cards in our possession which they refused. They literally followed me down to our room to collect payment for two beers that were originally offered to us free of charge. This place is criminal, if you think I’m joking, Google, “owner of Hotelito Azul Tulum”. I could continue detailing out our terrible experience but it’s more of the same. Do yourself a favor and spend your time and money anywhere else but here. Thankfully, we had only booked three nights at Hotelio Azul and for the rest of our vacation, we stayed at Casa Malca and had an absolutely amazing experience.

Lovely staff and an authentic atmosphere, but the hotel needs restoration & more staff. It’s overpriced for the current state. To find a good place to eat or entertain be ready to walk 1.5–2 km along a dusty, overcrowded, and unpleasant road. At half the price, it might be acceptable — but not as it is now.

Need to work on getting a bigger sign or visible that shows the hotel name. I passed it twice because theirs a big palm tree covering the hotel name. And if you have a rental. You have to park 2 buildings down from the hotel. Also, they keep the gate locked so not very convenient in getting in and out. Other than that this place has good food, and the room was nice with good service. Also theirs a restaurant across the street for dinner options.

We had a wonderful stay. The location is amazing. The beach and the view from our room was breathtaking. We saw the sunrise from our bed every morning. The staff was excellent. Especially, Cayitano our beach attendant and waiter. He was there to assist us whenever we needed anything and was so friendly. He was top notch! He made us feel like family. Other staff members were also very nice in helpful.

A very strange “luxury” boutique hotel experience. The room we eventually stayed in was beautiful, with ocean views and the sound of waves at night—but getting there was chaotic. We arrived around 7pm and were told via WhatsApp there would be no front desk staff and our key would be in the room. They initially didn’t tell us which room, then changed it from 5 to 6, and sent QR codes to access barriers and doors. The hotel was hard to find: no signage, no clear parking, and a dark street. After driving past several times, a waiter helped us but left us at an unmarked gate that turned out to be the car park. Not a great first impression. Room 6 was meant to be a beachside suite with ocean views, but it was on the ground floor with overgrown vegetation blocking the view, no furniture, and a covered hot tub we hadn’t requested. With no staff on site, we had to message repeatedly via WhatsApp to move rooms. After a long day of travel from the UK, the first night was very frustrating. The next morning, the room and view were stunning. However, there was no information about the hotel, no explanation of facilities, and no in-room guide—an online info pack would be essential if staff leave after 6pm. Breakfast was tasty, but I had to send back toast due to visible mould. The grounds are beautiful, the beach lounges great, and the gym was excellent—a real highlight. Thanks to Griselda, the cleaner. A disappointing hotel overall, looks around there are many better for less money.

Very cute hotel, close to everything. We stayed on the second floor in what looks like a newer building. It was fantastic. They brought coffee to us every morning in a basket. The attached restaurant/beach side was soooooo good. The Grilled Salmon was ridiculously good. Never got to eat in the cafe but it looked amazing too.

Hotel is location is perfect, with beech front access, with plenty of bars & restaurants within walking distance. Room was good with a very cold plunge pool & separate seating area to relax. Unfortunately due to shortage of staff, bars located by pools were not open, therefore no ability to get drinks or food there which was a bit disappointing. The hotel is looking a bit tired & could do with some areas being upgraded to bring it back to a high standard.

The service is the best part of this resort. From the servers, to housekeeping to Samantha at the front desk, everyone is attentive and super nice. The beach is gorgeous and most of the rooms are nice (some are a bit basic but also cheaper). Location is great. Entrance is a bit iffy and is easy to miss.

I stayed at Hotelito Azul with my wife and 2-year-old son in Jan 2025. Our stay was wonderful. Once you get in you feel you’re really in a tropical dream world. The vibe is very chill and relaxing from the moment you’re in the reception area. The grounds are gorgeous and you always feel you’re in a jungle wherever you’re going (from the reception area to the room, pool, beach, etc). The room decoration is in a sophisticated rustic style without compromising comfort. The 2 pools and the 2 jacuzzis are located on the rooftop, which offer a fantastic 360 view of the ocean at the front and the jungle in the back. The staff is friendly and very professional offering an efficient service. GRISELDA, the lady who would clean our room was very friendly and make a different surprise to our son everyday (she would fold the towels in different shapes such as a dog or a dino, which our son loved). We had only an issue that was quickly resolved: there was a bit loud music on the rooftop and the baby couldn’t fall asleep, but once I asked the staff they turned down the volume. After that, I could only hear the sea waves and the wind on the palm trees. The hotel grounds leads directly on to the beach which is gorgeous with white sand and warm blue water. They have two restaurants (Olivia and Agave) with great food. One should only be aware of the prices that are on par with what you pay in an expensive city like NYC. Also, breakfast is not included.

Very unfriendly staff at reception: we arrived after 6pm and received a Whatsapp at 4pm (we were on a flgiht) with a QR code to enter the building and no indications where we could find our rooms' keys. The reception hours are vague to say the least. Reception is sometimes not present until 11.30am or after 5pm. The entrance after 6pm is from a very dark narrow corridor which is clearly meant to be a side entrance for workers, rather than guests. The driver that reception suggested for trips into town charged 33% more than regular taxis and was never on time, in the 10 days we were in Tulum. The food on the beach took 3 hours to arrive on january 1st: we ordered at 1pm and got food at 4pm and received no excuses nor discount. The bars at the roof terrace swimming pool were not open and we were told we could not take our own food/drinks - then, what's the point of having a roof terrace with a pool? The location is good (although the two side properties are abandoned), the rooms are large and well cleaned; the rest is not worth the money. Much better choices in Tulum in this price range. We paid 5-star prices for a 3-star hotel. One last thing: the suite with its own pool is a trap. The main window is on the main street and there's a lot of noise in that room. And the water in the pool cannot be heated. Only cold water.

The food on the beach took 3 hours to arrive on january 1st: we ordered at 1pm and got food at 4pm and received no excuses nor discount. The bars at the roof terrace swimming pool were not open and we were told we could not take our own food/drinks - then, what's the point of having a roof terrace with a pool? The location is good (although the two side properties are abandoned), the rooms are large and well cleaned; the rest is not worth the money. Much better choices in Tulum in this price range. We paid 5-star prices for a 3-star hotel. One last thing: the suite with its own pool is a trap. The main window is on the main street and there's a lot of noise in that room. And the water in the pool cannot be heated. Only cold water.

On the plus side, I loved the fact the property was on the beach; there are jacuzzis and pools by the bar; and a good restaurant. On the minus side, the breakfast didn’t have any vegan options and the main guy serving the food there was extremely unfriendly.

We loved our stay here! Waking up right at the beach with the sand right outside our room was a dream. Staff were all lovely and super accomodating to gluten free requirements! The rooftop pool and bar are beautiful and perfect to watch the sunrise / sunset. The perfect place to spend a week in Tulum

Very cute hotel, close to everything. We stayed on the second floor in what looks like a newer building. It was fantastic. They brought coffee to us every morning in a basket. The attached restaurant/beach side was soooooo good. The Grilled Salmon was ridiculously good. Never got to eat in the cafe but it looked amazing too.

Tulum is beautiful, and the hotel aesthetically is very nice. We had a bumpy check-in, but they did resolve the issue, so for that I was thankful. We booked an ocean view room, expecting an ocean view, but upon arrival, our room could only see a sliver of the ocean, more like a partial ocean view... This was quite disappointing for what we paid $$$. However, we went back to the front desk, and they gave us a new room with a much better view in the same room price. The room was okay itself, the bathroom had an odd stench, and there were lots of ants, in the bathroom, and also in the room near the fridge, and unfortunately, they got into our food in the fridge. All of Tulum is expensive, but I felt like what we paid for the room, it could have been nicer. Housekeeping only came around 4 pm, which was a bit frustrating. The food and drinks in the hotel are outrageously expensive. The first morning we wanted additional coffee than what was provided in our room, and it cost $30 USD for 2 small coffees and 1 juice. Later we went to the rooftop area, which is super cool, and got 2 palomas and it was $23 USD for 1 drink... I live in LA, and that seems high for LA, much less for Mexico... overall, the property was beautiful, the room was okay, and the staff was alright. If I return to Tulum, I will probably try to stay somewhere else.

El hotel se ve que podría estar súper increíble. Le falta mantenimiento a las áreas de las albercas. Y los precios de los restaurantes son una burla. Un desayuno de dos adultos y una niña fueron casi tres mil pesos. Lo demás muy bien. El personal muy amable.

We had an incredible time at Hotelito Azul. Everything was perfect, from the hotel to the staff. We were welcomed with a delicious green smoothie from Olivia’s (we kept coming back for more!). The ambiance is perfect for a relaxing, soul soothing vacation. Our oceanfront room had beautiful sunrise views we will always remember. The Agave restaurant, beachfront, served the best rib eye tacos! And a special thanks to the staff for being so attentive, helpful, and making us feel right at home.

Cute design. Boho chic. Good food but expensive. A few things to be aware of: - Pre-registration / check-in: A lengthy registration acknowledgement form is required prior to arrival. Lots of rules! - Check-in: The hotel sent a QR code which we had assumed was for parking. It was not. It was actually to get into the hotel and you have to click a certain button to be able to use it. Hence just getting access the first day was hard. -Parking: There is no signage and the gate is locked at all times. You have to ask the hotel any time you want to use your vehicle and there were restrictions on hours. - Service times: They don't have staff on site at all times so you have to check in prior to 6pm and you have to make reservations 24 hours in advance to use the gym or rooftop hot tubs. - Infinity Pool / Rooftop: were beautiful and somewhere you'd want to have a drink or food but they don't serve any and you're not allowed to bring anything up there. - Filtered water: Only housekeeping offers this and you get 2 medium sized refillable bottles a day. The reception will not support any extra refill requests. - Smell: We stayed in a ground floor beach front unit and sometime smelled a faint scent of sewage in our room. This might be a plumbing issue and seemed to occur at other places along the strip as well so probably a common issue for many hotels there. -Service fee: Missed it when we booked but they charged 7% on top of our hotels.com rate. This is not standard there

Let’s start by saying that the staff at the 2 restaurants were delightful, engaging and hospitable. Our room was lovely- if a bit rustic- but had a gorgeous view. The shower is cool, bed was comfy, perfect pillows. Lots of fresh water provided. Only bummer was the thatched roof leaked (kind of significantly) during a particularly strong rainstorm. Now for the rest: we came in the offseason- and it was VERY apparent. Hotel ran out of clean beach towels, food prices were exorbitant (walk down the beach to the more elevated hotel, Amansala, and pay 1/2 the price), had a significant credit for drinks but there were so many restrictions we had virtually no choices, concierge was not to be found, reception was rarely onsite with spotty communication- you get the picture. The most egregious factor, though, was the rooftop “pavilion”. Though the view is amazing- it is clear that it has been abandoned for years. Broken chairs, janky ladder to (amazing) infinity pool, general disrepair. All told, the Hotelito Azul is a little gem. The vegetation is incredible, the vibe is on point, and it feels rustic, yet inviting. But they need to step it up in order to compete with the plethora of choices on this beach alone that offer updated accommodations and amenities. Or at least deliver what they promised.

The staff were some of the the most helpful and friendly people I have ever dealt with when traveling. This says a lot as I travel half the year. The food and drinks at the restaurants was wonderful. The one thing I will point out is that the hotel owners need to work on updating broken patio furniture and the hotel as a whole. For what they charge it really was sad to see the hotel looking worn out. Note: we had 4 villas (not really a villa more like room with deck) for 7 days and the air con did not work well in one of the villas. Power was out several times for long periods which meant no water either but we understand this can be typical in the area. The highlight besides the beauty of the area was the staff.

I was here in the off season so it was very quite but ended up having a wonderful time relaxing and enjoying the hotel amenities. The gym is great and the roof top pool was very refreshing. The entire staff was accommodating and friendly. The food was great!! Ate 50% of my meals at the hotel and really enjoyed it. if you are looking for a cozy hotel nestled in the jungle this is the place!

This place is all aesthetic illusion and zero substance. The beachfront location and kind staff are the only things keeping it from being a complete write-off. The rooftop pools—one of the main booking draws have been stripped of their appeal. They’re now covered by a solar awning, blocking nearly all sunlight. A rooftop pool with no sun is a design failure. You also can’t order food or drinks up there, making the space feel pointless. Worse, it’s in rough shape—cracked, broken wood slats and a noticeable wobble underfoot make it feel neglected and borderline unsafe. The restroom and changing area are embarrassing. Think rundown dive bar, not boutique hotel. One door was hanging off its hinge, the other didn’t lock. Cleanliness was also an issue. The pools and hot tubs were visibly dirty, which is unacceptable at this price point. The “$100 room credit” is misleading. It only applies to alcohol and only at a restaurant that closes before dinner hours, making it nearly useless. The staff does their best—they’re the only bright spot. Unfortunately, the food and drinks were consistently disappointing. This place sells a polished fantasy online but fails to deliver in reality. Spend your money elsewhere
