Best Western Plus St. John's Airport Hotel and Suites

We absolutely love the waterslide at this hotel!! It’s absolutely perfect for kids.

Parking always seems to be an issue. Not enough parking spots. Employees are friendly and helpful. I wish they would bring back the complementary breakfast.

Pool area is slippery and rail needs to be fixed. Water slide is amazing.

We spent 3 hours there and no staff came through during that time and only a few hotel guests. Furthermore, the water in the pool, water slide and hot tub was cloudy and the handrail on the main steps to the pool in the shallow end was completely broken from the floor. I have stayed here many times, but not recently and was disappointed that the hotel cleanliness was not where it use to be.

Everything was great, the snow in the parking lot was horrible though and needed to be ploughed.

No issues with the hotel. Always a great place to stay. The only suggestion I’d have is the airport shuttle is too small. They need to upsize it. Many people waiting for multiple trips in the morning is not efficient.

The elevators weren’t the greatest. Really slow.

We enjoyed our stay at Best Western, the staff were super friendly and very welcoming of our dogs as well. Unfortunately, the pool and hot tub are not maintained well. It was very dirty, my children and husband ended up with severe eye infections a day after we left as a result of the pool 😞

Booked this hotel due to proximity to the airport and travelling with children. Arrived at 1AM exhausted and when the kids pulled down the sheets there were large brown stains. Disgusting. They set us up with another room but we were obviously disturbed.

We arrived at 3:30 PM and were warmly greeted by the friendly concierge team. We checked into Room 103, which unfortunately had some cleanliness issues, including old rose petals and leaves on the floor and in the closet. Additionally, the room was dusty, there was a makeup bottle behind the bed near the window and a partially clogged sink that drained slowly. While these were minor concerns, they did affect our initial impression. After settling in, we explored the facilities, which were well-maintained; the gym and pool area were clean, and the bar and dining room appeared tidy. We enjoyed a peaceful walk in the neighborhood before returning to our room around 7:30 PM. However, we discovered two small bugs near the corner of the bed, likely remnants from previous guests. This discovery made us uneasy, as we were concerned about bringing any pests home. I informed the concierge about the situation, and she kindly offered us a king-size room as an alternative. We asked if we could use the jacuzzi before moving, but ultimately decided against it due to our discomfort. Upon entering our new room (130), we immediately inspected the bed and witnessed a larvae bug which crawled under the bed, which we also found alarming. We promptly notified the front desk, returned the complimentary breakfast coupons, and decided to leave around 8:30 PM. While the staff was excellent and the facilities appeared clean, the pest issue significantly impacted our experience.

Clean new looking big rooms. Comfortable bed. Great linens. Big bathroom. Lots of towels. All the conveniences. Nice bar and restaurant as well.

Two minute drive to the airport. Great for an early morning flight. Upgraded to a king bed with a separate room and a pull out. Bathroom and bedroom were big. Area with the pull out was tiny- not great if you need to use the pull out bed. Hotel is fairly new, has a place onsite to eat. Not close to downtown but most people seemed to be using it for access to the airport.

Very nice room, looked remodelled…no carpet! Great! Very clean and lots of room for luggage after a long day of travel.

The stay was generally very good however there was a large vibrating sound coming from the bathroom fan area which was irritating through the night.

The tv was old model with no TV Guide

The building ventilation system was noisy, we shut it down but it got hot in a hurry.

Shower was a big issue though. It’s beautiful & easy to use but the door does not meet the wall. Bottom edge has 1” gap & the water pours out onto wall & floor. Also the sofa in our sitting room area was extremely uncomfortable to sit on. Needs replacing. Otherwise this King Suite was wonderful. What’s with your TV’s though. This cheap replacement remotes are garbage & the total non selection of anything to watch was disappointing.

The room was great! Very comfy, king-sized bed, spacious with two high back chairs and table, and a fridge. The only complaints I have are inadequate water pressure, and paper-thin walls. The water pressure was nearly non-existent to the point it took way longer to take a shower. Given there were a lot of kids staying at the hotel, the paper-thin walls made it very noisy until about 10pm.

We were just staying overnight because we were flying out in the morning. The front desk staff (there were 4 of them) took almost 10 minutes to check us in and there was only one other customer in front of us. If they were having a problem with systems or whatever it was, they really missed the opportunity to acknowledge us just for a courtesy... Just takes a second to do! We left our luggage earlier and the desk staff didn't give us a tag for it and it took some time to find it when we checked in. On a positice note, Hailey in the bar/restaurant was very good to us... Great personality... Me us feel welcome and really made my review go from a poor to average. If the front desk staff had been half as attentive, I would have been very happy with the stay... First impressions are very important...

I was pleasantly suprised by the property itself.. however, the customer service is literally the worst ive ever come across. Its almost surreal. Booked a suite for over a week after added bookings with the "vip" acess i was supposed to receive daily food vouchers. I received one the entire stay. I literally avoided front desk by all means necessary. Im not the type to leave a review at all, let alone a negative one. The service here was that bad. If youre in town for appointments regarding chronic illness as i was, this is the last place you should expect to come relax. Did nothing but add stress. Obviously with chronic illness comes a decline in appearance. I habe lost the majority of my hair. There was an instance where i had to present ID to obtain new room keys. The person on front desk looked me up and down so condescendingly. Just so blatantly rude. I've always allotted about $100 a day for tips during hotel stays. The only tips i gave out were to house keeping

This was by far the worst stay I've ever had at a hotel. I got this room the night of Jan 4th as it was a heavy storm that night in St. Johns and I work at the airport so for safety reasons stayed there. At 1130pm the individual in the room above returned to their room. For the 30-35m that they were still awake the noise from them just walking around was insane. Very poorly sound insulated. It was enough to wake me up and keep me awake. I finally got back to sleep and was awoke again at 2am by the fire alarm going off in my room going beep beep beep low battery over and over and over. I had to work at 6am so at this point I just checked out as it was apparent I was going to get no sleep here. I told the story to the worker at the front desk and he said he couldn't do anything for me other then me a different room. Considering the quality of build and maintenance I had already experienced I passed. He told me a manager would contact me and I've yet to hear from them. If you looking for something close to the airport I suggest trying the Holiday Inn or an Airbnb. Side note I've gotten food from their restuarant from time to time with work, sevice and food are average at best for the price they charge. You can get WAT better food for an equivalent price next door at The Rock.

The room was not cleaned after the first night. I believe an oversight by the staff because we had met them in the hallway and they were pleasant and diligent. The restaurant meal was served cold. In both cases we received an apology and compensation . That being said, Best Western is one of my preferred hotel chains to go to when travelling. They used to give complementary breakfasts, but this establish did not. That was disappointing

Excellent experience! Convenient and comfortable. Only negative was we did not receive our wake up call that we had ordered. We were already awake so it wasn’t a big issue.

Close to airport and shuttle service

Only stayed to be close to the airport, but was a great stay. Airport shuttle was very convenient and easy to use. Also used the shuttle to get us back from dropping off the rental car. So useful.

The hotel is right at the airport in St John’s which was fantastic for an early flight. All of a five minute commute if that to go to the terminal. Free shuttle was available, but we had a rental we had to return. The staff we dealt with were all great and friendly. In all, a good stay.

Hotel looked pretty new, so maybe that is why it was quite clean. Quiet and also very convenient for staying close to airport.

The whole stay was wonderful! The kids had a ball on the slide and in the pool. The food was excellent. The only issue we had was when we ordered room service the person who took our order took a long time to take it. I understand it was busier there than normal - so this was no issue. The issue was when we called to get an update on our food (because it was almost 40 mins) the person who answered rudely said the food was on the way up and hung up the phone before we could ask any other questions. That was the only negative part of our stay here and would not deter us from staying there again.

Restaurant was dirty

Stay was excellent but the breakfast was a 2 hour wait. It was a mess people came in after us but was served before we were.

Pool is great but needs a little TLC, and food prices at restaurant were expensive.

The room was great. The pool was great. The only disappointing thing about our stay was the restaurant at the hotel “Amelia’s”. After a long day out we came back to relax and go for food. Unfortunately, there was a minimum wait of 45 minutes to order food or sit down. The option was to come back in 45 minutes or try somewhere else. With only about half the tables or less accompanying people the restaurant was severely understaffed. Like the other 10 people waiting in line we decided to go elsewhere. However, people with mobility issues or no car rental would have been put into a dire situation for supper. The restaurant manager needs to recognize when the hotels busy and consider staffing up appropriately to handle the business. I would like to add that the staff who were working were moving efficient and effectively keeping up with what they could. They all deserve a raise.

Food in restaurant was good but service was very slow and food over priced

My boyfriend and I have stayed in a lot of different spots in St. John’s; and our favourite, by far is “The Best Western”. Great room, jacuzzi is an awesome bonus, easy access to the airport, and Amelia’s restaurant is terrific! My favourite part is toutons and fruit delivered to our room in the morning. Can’t rave about it more! 10/10!!!! We’ve stayed at least 5 times and definitely still counting!
