The key to the room was also accessible to the exit door to the outdoor stairs. Which is a concern since everyone else has acces to the same door. When the bar is closed that exit door is the only way accessible. Our room had no microwave and no fridge. The timber Floor is uneven and squeaking when walking upon. Big Cracks on the hallway walls. 2 separate shared bathrooms, 1 on the very end of the hallway and 1 in the middle down the stairs. Not very clean. Parking was also awkward, since the parking spots reserved for people staying at the motel were almost taken every time by people who came there to eat or drink at the bar. Only + it was cheap. So you get what you pay for.

We arrived really late with after hours instructions, but the staff still met us with the key :). The room was small but warm, and the bed was comfortable. The shower in the shared bathroom was amazing (though some travellers should be more respectful of the condition in which they leave a shared bathroom). Parking was easy, the room served its purpose, and I'd stay there again.

This is a great place to stay for 1 night maybe 2. It's basic but ok i just wish they had soap in the bathrooms. They provide you with a small soap in the room but in 2024 soap should be in a bathroom especially a public bathroom

Disappointing! Beds with lumpy mattress. Luckily found doona in cupboard to cover mattress. Bathrooms dreadful. Stayed two nights and mess not cleaned up. Some lights didn't work. Hotel meal very nice.

Initially ignored at the bar, then a lovely staff member helped us check in. Never saw a staff member or cleaner after that. Double bed was small, but the linen was clean but mattress very old. Zero airflow so tried to open a window and found more spiderwebs than Charlotte’s web. Blinds were filthy and didn’t work. Taps are not secured in the shower, but it has a lovely view across the mountains when you open the window slats. Bathroom had no light globe. The shower room had a bunch of insects stuck to the ceiling. Carpets were dirty and dusty and the floor creaked more than aunt Ethel‘s hips from 1825. Stairwells are thin and very steep to carry bags up. Great location, right in the middle of the town and good parking. You do get what you pay for, but with some regular cleaning this would’ve been a much better stay for my sinuses.

Beautiful old original pioneer/colonial bluestone village with nice shops/cafes/parks and history. Glorious old bridge & Catholic Church which was open for prayer. The hotel is quiet and affordable, BUT .. black mould in shower & bathroom , no plug for the bath( would have been lovely for this old man), plus bedroom was stuffy.. window locked & dirty with cobwebs/ bird droppings to look at .

We stayed in The Vine room which is not part of the original hotel but in a structure to the side of the hotel. The bathroom was modernised but otherwise it was dated decor. That said, it was clean and fine all round.

An attractively renovated space above the stables, but it had been closed up and was very hot and stuffy when we checked in. I spent half an hour trying to get the aircon working (googled the manual) before telling the hotel staff it was faulty. They knew nothing about the accom and could not help. After a couple of hours of windows open it was a comfortable night.

When I booked the room, the information said there was an air conditioner, but it wasn't in the room, and when I asked the staff, they said there were no rooms with air conditioning (please stop giving false information). I was pleasantly surprised by this place. I was not expecting much but the room was a really good size with a dining table and 2 seater couch. I loved the unusual angular shape of the ceiling and the “window to the sky” was a cool idea. The bed was very comfortable and location was great, in the main st Richmond. We had the private ensuite room and it was up a few stairs so I was glad we did not have too much luggage! The attached bistro had good meals and was a popular spot.

If you were riding your horse all day in 1893 and needed a bed for the night then the Richmond Arms would be perfect. Just basic rooms with squeaky beds and squeaky floors. Highlight was the shared shower rooms with excellent water pressure. Food in restaurant was great pub grub. Staff very pleasant.

The hotel is the epitome of a country pub with traditional pub fair, eight ball and friendly locals in their seats at the bar. Not a refined experience but everything we were after, we were comfortable, fed well and welcomed.

We arrived at 9 pm and though were told about the keybox, when we got the key there was no room number, had to ring an emergency number provided which was answered by a fellow that had stopped working there 18months ago, but at least he kindly/ told us how to find the room, there was no lighting outside it so we couldn't have found it without him.

What we expected. Great location. Great meals available downstairs. Smoke alarm battery warning activated at 5am, unfortunate. Unable to notify anyone at hotel that smoke detector needed maintenance.

A great place to stopover. Staff friendly and the accommodation was spacious. Good pub food and drinks. The hotel is at the heart of historic Richmond, one of the earliest settlements, and only twenty minutes from Hobart International Airport. We loved our stopover there. Thank you.

Comfortable one night stay overall apart from a noisy compressor at the back of the hotel which ran intermittently during the day & night. Stayed upstairs in the Stables. Kept the windows shut to muffle the sound & aircon on to cool the room. Some folks may find the noise too irritating & some may sleep through it. Otherwuse a comfy pleasant stay. Excellent large meal in the hotel that night. Turkey roast with all the trimmings. Easy walking to all amenities.

This accommodation is located in a beautiful old hotel. The rooms are very basic but very clean, with a shared bathroom. We wanted to stay in old hotels so it was perfect for us. Located in the heart of town, you can walk to everything. The hotel provides lovely pub style meals. The only issue for us was there was no fridge (so we just used that food straight away) and no breakfast on site (but cafes a short stroll away)

Beautiful apartment with plenty of parking and right near a lovely park near the river. We had great meals at the hotel, the staff were brilliant and went out of their way to provide us with a good experience. Will absolutely stay again next time we visit Tasmania

Stayed one night in the old Stables and loved it, especially the historic exposed stone walls. Dinner at the hotel was HUGE but absolutely delicious! The Richmond Arms Hotel is the heart of the village 10/10

If you were riding your horse all day in 1893 and needed a bed for the night then the Richmond Arms would be perfect. Just basic rooms with squeaky beds and squeaky floors. Highlight was the shared shower rooms with excellent water pressure. Food in restaurant was great pub grub. Staff very pleasant.

The staff at The Richmond Arms are amazing! We arrived when they were closing up and the staff were incredible to go out of their way to look after us and feed us. The food was fabulous as well. Thank you!

We had a good stay. Plenty of parking on the property. The common toilets and showers for the budget options may not suit everyone, but it’s great for the price. The restaurant and pub downstairs offer big meal servings; the only place open until 8:30pm. Lots of coffee places around. Staff are excellent. Pretty old town.
