Sandman Signature St. John's Hotel

Great room and helpful staff, but the pool needs updating.

Trip was perfect but…. They have been having elevator trouble now last two visits

We were not notified that there was no access to pool or fitness center to Reno’s

Always friendly, sometimes upgrade. Free parking with2 hotels is a major plus!

Hot tub was not clean, ⭐️2for that

Great hotel, friendly staff. Only thing qas one of their elevators were out of service so it was a bit difficult when trying to take out luggage to and from our room. Not a big deal because that's out of their control so overall wonderful stay.

The room was nice size/spacious and good amenities. Did find it loud and the gym/pool was not clean

The rooms were decently clean but if you are booking this hotel for the hot tub don’t .. it was disgusting dirty looked like it hadn’t been cleaned in months.

Clean and comfortable hotel, but lacking in amenities. The pool was tiny, 3-4 kids in there at a time was crowded; the gym was even smaller, 3 person maximum; and there was no continental breakfast.

property is clean and well maintained. staff are friendly. a good location to drive to/from the airport. plenty of parking.

We had a suite and the room was very nice, but there were lots of crumbs around food in the couch and various stains everywhere. Stains were definitely old and not able to get out so understandable Staff was very kind upon arrival and exit.

Overall good, but the long black hairs in the shower were not good, considering I'm blond!!

The bottom had toothpast on the walls, not to mention the blood that was on the top corner of the shower curtain. There was a layer of dust over items on the main floor, which is what everyone will see first coming into the hotel. I wont be going back to this hotel. Only good thing about it, is the location.

Staff was great and room was spotless.

The room was not as clean as we have had in the past. There was a white stain on the chair, there was stuff that was spilled on the kitchenette area and a side table that were not cleaned up and stuck on. I ended up wiping down all the surfaces, chair and bathtub/sink with disinfectant that I added to my door dash order.

The room conditions could have been better. The sliding door to the balcony was dirty and there was a mist of water spraying in when the wind blew. The Keurig was dirty. I had to clean it before using. Other than that the staff greeted us politely.

Beautiful hotel , bathroom floor in the corners and on the baseboards was filthy caked on dust , seemed the carpets aren’t that clean , I got an email regarding a late check out paid for it on check in but when I went back to my room at 12 key would not work , front desk called me twice and asked me if I was checking out they said check out was at 11 I explained twice about the late check out I was offered and paid for and then I get a knock at my door again asking when I’m leaving told her that was the third time I was asked there must be a lack of communication and this young lady was kind of rude other than that it’s a beautiful hotel

Clean room

The room is needing a thorough cleaning. The bed and linens were clean, and the toiletries were fully stocked and clean. The table had a sign notifying guests that the material is prone to staining and wear. But there was residue and glass marks that I wiped up myself. Other areas that need cleaning: -Heavy buildup of dust on heater AC unit. -Hairs in shower and sink from previous guests. -Sticky carpet near bed. -Iron board had rust stains from iron. This is a fairly new building, and the unique style and design is inviting. But when you start noticing the items listed above. You're not as comfortable and you keep thinking, what will I discover next?

Few issues i noticed. Room. Blocked out environment noise outside/halls/above poorly. Light sleeper or late morning sleeper or shift work. Might have a issue. Bathroom lighting was poor. Made it hard to have a shave. Nice bathroom & clean. Made it hard to shave. Elevator its slow. If your on a floor u don’t know if going up or down or coming and which one unless your on the ground floor. Perks. Great seating in the main lobby. Clean all around. Smoking area , pool , two main entrances. Decent wifi. Comfy bed & great shower tub. And two restaurant's on the building Moxie’s & Denny’s.

Over all, not a bad stay. Just a few things unfavourable. Room was very cold on arrival 15degrees. Ice maker was out of order on our floor, tv wasn’t working and upon calling the front desk for help, there was no technician available to help us, I found the bed too soft (but admitting thats not a fault, just a preference on my part).

Convenient hotel. Overall positive with just a few side notes. The second floor rooms near the buildings down spouts are very noisy when raining. The mattress is ready to be replaced because it has sink holes, especially uncomfortable if you’re a belly sleeper. Overall still a very nice place to stay. Very clean and great service from the staff, but the hotel is starting to show wear and tear.

This hotel listed that the rooms have blackout curtains. This is true, but unfortunately they do not cover the windows completely which makes them extremely ineffective. If this is an important amenity for you, I'd recommend looking elsewhere.

The shower handle would not stay in the holder it kept falling off.

Nice room. Only bad thing I could say it was warm in the rooms and you couldn’t adjust the heat just turn on the air conditioner

Excellent hotel for the price. Staff are awesome. We had a kitchen suite. Very convenient.

The room with the kitchen was amazing. We have never had a full kitchen before and it changed our world. They provide almost everything you need (we didn’t have salt/pepper, ended up buying some before we remembered we may have been able to ask the staff). The bed was comfy, the bathroom was clean and also comfortable. The only thing that was a bit confusing was that the tv channels show a set of possible tv channels, but they do not match the actual channels on the tv. Would stay again if we return to St John’s!

Bathroom showers were very poor. No water pressure.

Nice clean hotel, comfortable beds

We stayed for a week at Sandman Signature St. John’s. I usually spend about 40 nights a year in various hotels with a mix of business and pleasure and my experience here is definitely on the lower end. Check in was great with a friendly person at the front desk. The room is well worn and has not been kept in shape. A few things for example: furniture is damaged and drawers would not stay closed. Light bulbs in the room was burnt and not replaced. There is quite a bit of mold in the shower. The bathroom fan would not stay on for more than a minute before shorting out with a flash of the bathroom lights. There is more but you get the idea. Condition aside, what I was most frustrated with was on my third day of my seven day stay we got a call that woke us up (we were taking a nap after an early morning hike watching the sunrise) and it was the front desk asking us what time we are leaving. We said we had four more days to stay and they said they will look into it. We called about half an hour later to make sure they had sorted it out as we were getting concerned about what is happening. We were told there was a mistake and someone had provided the wrong room number when they requested their stay to be shortened. Another 15 minutes when by and there was a loud knock on the door. It was Amy from front desk. There was no greeting, no hello, no good morning the first thing she said was when are you checking out. This was overall a poor experience.

Great service, friendly staff. They let my grandchildren come swim in the pool while I was visiting for the holidays. Very thoughtful and much appreciated.

Very helpful staff

I felt the front desk staff was inexperienced. I asked to switch rooms and the staff had to keep going to the back office to speak to the manager. I finally asked for the manager to come out and talk to me directly.

I was very disappointed in my stay at the sandman hotel. I had this room booked as a surprise for my son’s birthday. I arrived for check in at 3:20 to be told that my room was not ready and it would be another two hours. Another worker came out and told me that they were extremely busy and had 80 checkouts yesterday. However in my opinion that should not have delayed me getting my room because they should have adequate staff to clean the rooms. I was offered another room after waiting fifteen minutes in the lobby however the room was not suitable for what I had planned. I waited another fifteen minutes and at 4 o’clock I was able to go to the room I had booked. However by this time my son had arrived and instead of this being a surprise he ended up having to sit in the lobby and wait for our room. I would not recommend the sandman hotel to anyone who is on a schedule.

Great location to St.John,only minutes away to downtown and the airport

Friendly staff and clean property. Close to amenities and a nice distance from downtown. With two restaurants on the property, it was nice to have the options after our road trip days and not have to venture out. Appreciated the hospitality team, very helpful with providing extras when needed. Would definitely stay again.

This hotel is located close to the Avalon Mall and within walking distance of the Saturday farmer's market as well as several fast food places and some chain shopping shops ( e.g. Walmart/Dollarama). The lobby is beautiful and welcoming, the room was spacious and comfortable. The front desk staff were excellent and I especially appreciated one of them getting me some coffee set up as I left for my flight at 3 am. If you need a place to stay it is highly recommended. Some of the things to note: the cleaning staff came VERY late in the day compared to other hotels I have stayed in (4:30 pm one day) and 3 out of 4 days they did a poor job (didn't refresh my soap and shampoo or towels), on the 4th day they were earlier and everything was replaced (like all other hotels do). So it probably had to do with which cleaning staff was on duty. The pool and hot tub weren't the best. There were literally no chairs to sit on and it felt very dated compared to the rest of the hotel. You are +6 km from the harbour front so you will need a car or an Uber (uber service was consistently amazing). I would say - if your main goal is to sample the local cuisine/pubs and do some of their amazing hailing trails - this isn't the ideal location for you. Something by the harbour front would make more sense.

Booked a couple nights for the start of my Newfoundland adventure. Hotel was lovely, clean and staff very helpful. Great parking and close to the airport.

LOCATION: Convenient location if in the city for a short stay as it provudes easy access into the city centre and easy drive out. It is not located downtown so you would have to drive there. HOTEL: Easy parking and access into the hotel. Has everythibg you would need for a short stay in the city. ROOM: Was spacious with large bathroom and very clean. STAFF: Friendly Staff.

Close to highway, good if you have rental car

Decent hotel close to airport and downtown. Nice lobby and rooms were quite good. Close to groceries and restaurants, worked well for four nights. Free parking. Travel tip: You can park close to Terry Fox statue on Water St. for four hours free and walk downtown or hike up Signal Hill.

Hotel room was great however someone decided to use my room to order 3 room service meals and obviously a disconnect between hotel and Denny’s (on property) as John V ordered three separate Denny’s meals and had all charged to my room.

Stay was very good other than no breakfast included.
